Exclusive: Denise Welch’s secret battle with numbers that left her ‘throwing up’ amid depression fight

Denise Welch has spoken about her secret battle with numbers, which led to her getting into financial difficulties – but she’s now speaking out about it to help others

Denise Welch, beloved Loose Women panellist, mental health advocate and acclaimed actress, has publicly battled many life challenges – from depression to alcohol addiction. Thankfully, she overcame these struggles years ago with the support of her husband, artist Lincoln Townley. However, one battle Denise hasn’t extensively discussed is her secret struggle with numbers, which led to financial difficulties.

Now, as an ambassador for National Numeracy, Denise is tackling this issue head-on and sharing her journey, says OK!. And she wants people to know two things: struggling doesn’t make you “thick”, and help is available. The candid 66 year old star, who shares sons Louis, 23, an actor, and The 1975 frontman Matty, 35, with ex-husband and fellow actor Tim Healy, is known for her brutal honesty. Happily, she tells us, she’s in a great place right now, both professionally and personally.

After years of mental health struggles culminating in a breakdown in 2019, she’s never felt better. , reports OK!. “If I could bottle how I’m feeling right now, I’d be a billionaire,” she chuckles, speaking to us from her Loose Women dressing room at ITV. “I always knew the origin of my illness was hormonal, probably triggered by childbirth – it took 20 years to get anyone to accept that. I’ve been shouting from the rooftops about our mental health since 1991.”

“In 2019, I had what we used to call a ‘breakdown’ – I get tingling in my hands, the colour drains from my life, I can feel it coming on. And I decided for the first time to chronicle that episode, in real time. I did just that for three days and when I came out of bed days later, it had gone viral. I’d even been on News At 10. It resonated.”

That incident gave rise to Denise’s book, The Unwelcome Visitor, and she’s since felt a significant shift, which she thinks may be connected to becoming post-menopausal. “I haven’t had an episode since. I’ll never, ever say it’s ‘gone’. All I know is for the first time in 35 years, I don’t wake up frightened of my illness. Something righted itself. I don’t wake up with a subconscious dread, the constant narrative, ‘Do I feel OK? S**t, it’s dark today, how’s that going to affect me…’ That’s gone.”

Denise is also clearly smitten with her hubby of more than a decade, Lincoln. She gushes that despite sounding “corny”, at 51, he’s the “bedrock” of her world. “I feel so fortunate to have met him later in life. He’s my best friend, we make each other laugh and we’ve got each other’s backs. The only thing I can thank alcohol for is that we met each other in a club late at night.”

She says she didn’t expect the ‘outpouring of love’ she felt when she became a ‘nana’
    Image:
Denise Welch)Denise Welch has spoken up about the challenges she and her partner Lincoln Townley have faced, including overcoming negative media scrutiny and the loss of her mother. “We overcame all the negative press we got, the loss of my mother early on in our relationship could have set me back drinking again, but with the strength of Lincoln it didn’t. We live a life we love. Life is good. I’m filming two new TV shows at the minute. I have a beautiful family, including my grandson. Lincoln and I are each other’s anchors.”

Denise gushes with pride when talking about her children’s professional strides, mentioning Louis stepping into the role for the Stranger Things West End play and Matty finding success as The 1975’s frontman whilst working on his sixth album. She reflects, “Yes, Matty’s taking his foot off the gas of touring for a couple of years,” and shares her joy of spending time in LA, where he resides: “He’s based in LA, which is great as we love LA.”

As for being a grandmother to baby Theo, Denise can’t help but express her deep affection: “Theo is just this joyful child who we are totally besotted with. You don’t expect the outpouring of love you’ll feel for a grandchild. This tiny little dot who’s only been around for a year has changed our lives and I’ve never seen anything like how Lincoln is with him. When you’re a blended family, you have to share the little one out quite a lot, so it’s like, ‘We’ll have him! ‘”.

When she’s not doting on her grandson, Denise is still flexing her acting muscles and sharing her candid views on Loose Women. What keeps her coming back to the show? It’s the love and respect she receives from the team, according to Denise. She also feels like she’s matured a lot while being on-air. ” Loose Women has honestly seen me through the good, the bad and the very ugly, and now the good again. I’m very grateful for the platform it’s given me. Not many older women have a voice – this is one of the only shows in the country which reveres them. We have women from 24 to 84 – where else do you get that range of opinion and life experience? ” Denise revealed.

In addition to working on two hush-hush TV projects, former Corrie star Denise has been unveiled as the new ambassador for National Numeracy – a cause that resonates with her, having struggled with numbers all her life. The charity reached out to Denise after watching her discuss the issue on Loose Women. “I’m no authority, but I just share my own experience,” she admits. “I’ve always been terrified of maths and numbers. It’s plagued my life, my normal life. It renders me fearful to this day and got me into very sticky situations with money. I feel very strongly about National Numeracy trying to take the ‘fear’ out of maths, so if I can help by sharing my story, I will.”

Denise’s struggles began in the classroom. As a child, she was a “speed reading champion” with a passion for English, but maths terrified her. She recalls that seeing double maths on her timetable would make her “go and vomit in the toilets, just at the thought of it”. Denise also had an unkind teacher who, she says, would “prey on those who were vulnerable”.

“I hated it. My dad found numbers easy, so he wasn’t forceful, but I remember him saying, ‘Denise, if X equals Z, how can you not see? ‘ It felt like someone speaking in a foreign language. But these things weren’t discussed back then. I lost a lovely job at a pub when I was 18 because we had to do mental maths. They loved me, but I took too long at the till, so they had to let me go.”

As she grew older and entered the world of showbiz, Denise would only appear on quiz shows where she wouldn’t be asked anything mathematical. Her fear of numbers started to impact her life. “There were mortgages, taxes, bills. I got myself into trouble early in my career, by burying my head in the sand.” She acknowledges her fortune in having Lincoln, who excels in the area she struggles with, but confesses to previous feelings of shame. However, she’s adamant that support is available for those facing similar challenges.

“Contact National Numeracy and they’ll help you with basic skills,” she advises. “Don’t be ashamed if you’re no good with numbers, because believe me, it ain’t just you! And it doesn’t mean you’re not incredibly clever, which is what I used to think. Ask for help, because those bills won’t go away, they’ll just pile up.” Now juggling a successful career and a happy home life, Denise has conquered her personal “elephant in the room” – her past embarrassment. Beaming with joy, she shares, “I’m happy. Life is good! ” and reflects, “Isn’t that all anyone can ask for?”.

Loose Women’s Olivia Attwood admits ITV co-stars are ‘naughty’ behind the scenes

The Loose Women are “naughty” and “silly” behind the scenes, says panellist Olivia Attwood who insists there is “no conflict” between the stars

Loose Women is “naughty” behind the scenes, according to its new panellist Olivia Attwood.

The reality star says she has never experienced any “conflict”, despite reports that several of the stars have fallen out.

“It’s that thing we love, women to be at war with each other – it’s so exciting,” says Olivia, who was entertaining viewing Love Island.

But there is less drama backstage at the ITV panel show, which Olivia appeared on last week alongside Nadia Sawalha, Kaye Adams and Denise Welch. “I have not seen conflict at Loose,” she continues. “The women have a lot of fun with each other. Like it’s naughty, they’re silly, they’re mates. There’s some of these women have worked together for, 20 odd years. They know each other inside out. And that’s also credit to them for making me feel so part of it, because I’m coming in there with friendships that have been existing long before I was.”

Olivia says she prepared herself to not resonate with viewers when she first joined the show. She tells the Caroline Hirons Glad We Had This Chat podcast, out today: “I actually really was like, I’ve got nothing to lose here because if the daytime viewers don’t warm to me or isn’t a fit or the women don’t like me, it’s all good training, it’s all good experience. So I was up for it.

“They said they weren’t surprised at all. And I guess that’s why they’re the bosses and they know what they’re looking for. But I guess I was surprised how quickly it just felt like I’d been there forever.”

Caroline’s Glad We Had This Chat podcast launches today for its second series, and the beauty guru, who founded Skin Rocks, will tour the podcast next year, interviewing guests around the country. The first episode with Olivia Attwood is available now.

  • Loose Women’s Linda Robson breaks silence on Jane Moore’s ITV I’m A Celeb stint

Loose Women’s Linda Robson breaks silence on Jane Moore’s ITV I’m A Celeb stint

Linda Robson is backing her Loose Women co-star Jane Moore to win I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! because she won’t be fazed by the jungle

Linda Robson has broken her silence after it emerged Jane Moore will be appearing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The actress and broadcaster is confident that Jane will tackle every challenge in the jungle with ease. The Birds of a Feather star is certain that 62-year-old Jane has what it takes to be crowned Queen of the Jungle, thanks to her unflappable nature and determination.

Speaking at the recent London Lifestyle Awards, the Loose Women star gushed: “Jane will be Queen of the Jungle, I’m telling you now. Jane Moore will do every challenge and she won’t bat an eyelid. She’s definitely gonna be a winner.” Having shared the Loose Women panel with Jane for over a decade, Linda, who herself took part in the reality show in 2012 and came ninth, knows the ins and outs of the jungle experience.

She stressed that there are no hidden luxuries for the stars on the show; if they fail their tasks, it’s nothing but rice, beans, and water. Reflecting on her own stint, Linda remarked: “I did it in 2012. It’s like a proper detox, you don’t even get a cup of tea or anything. It was amazing honestly,” she told Simon Gross.

Journalist and broadcaster Jane is set to be joined in the jungle by McFly’s Danny Jones, former Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse, N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos, Coleen Rooney – the wife of former England footballer Wayne Rooney, Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall, controversial TikTok star GK Barry, boxer Barry McGuigan, Mick McCarthy, Harry Clark, Richard Arnold and Olympian Max Whitlock.

The forthcoming series, once again hosted by Geordie duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, launches on November 17. But while the series is set to return with a string of big names – not everybody is paid the same amount for their time in the jungle. This year ITV bosses are said to have splashed a huge amount of cash to get Coleen Rooney on board. The WAG is said to have negotiated a fee in excess of £1.5million. The amount is more than Nigel Farage demanded last year – and notably around 15 times higher than what rival Rebekah Vardy picked up in 2017.

The pay cheque makes Coleen one of I’m A Celeb’s highest paid stars ever. With the biggest cheque cut a reported £1.5 million, to the lowest at £13,000. But it’s not just Farage who walked away with a heft pay cheque after his stint on the show. Former Deal or No Deal host Noel Edmonds pocketed a hefty £600,000.

Noel entered the jungle in 2018 for a reported fee of a whopping £600,000. Despite demanding a huge fee and being someone the production team had been chasing for years, the TV star spent very little time on the show and was the first person to be voted off. Three very different celebs, Boy George, Harry Redknapp, and Caitlyn Jenner, reportedly all walked out of the jungle with a cool £500,000. Culture Club singer Boy George ended up in eighth place during his stint in 2022. Caitlyn Jenner faired slightly better, coming in at sixth place during her time in 2019, but it was football legend Harry Redknapp who really earned his keep, coming in first and winning the nation’s hearts.

Elsewhere, Conservative supporter and Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo is said to have been paid just £13,000 in 2017. Meanwhile, Hollyoaks actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer walked away with £15,000. The star went into the show in 2018 and was reportedly paid £15,000 to appear. Unfortunately, the Prince McQueen star was the second person to be voted out of the jungle.

Amy Dowden ‘uncontactable’ after quitting Strictly as star says ‘I’ve tried to reach out’

Amy Dowden was absent from last Saturday’s show after she was rushed to hospital, and in an emotional statement, she confirmed she wouldn’t be returning to the dancefloor this year

Amy Dowden is “uncontactable” after quitting this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, according to former contestant Sara Davies.

The 40-year-old Dragon’s Den star competed in 2021, and revealed during Tuesday’s edition of Loose Women that the Welsh dancer is “unreachable” after she stepped down from the BBC One show following an injury. The professional dancer was rushed to hospital earlier this month after collapsing backstage following the live show, and last weekend, Amy was replaced by Lauren Oakley, who danced with her celebrity partner JB Gill.

In an emotional statement, Amy later confirmed a foot injury was the reason behind her hospital dash, and she bowed out of the rest of this year’s series to concentrate on her recovery. During Tuesday’s edition of the ITV daytime show, Sara admitted she had sent Amy a text message but hadn’t heard back.

“The thing with Amy is Strictly is her life. It’s not a job to her. It’s her passion, dancing is her life. And she lives for that time on Strictly and taking a celebrity through that journey. And to have it pulled away from her was devastating for last year. And I remember having to sit her down as that friend that kind of has to give you the tough love and say, ‘Amy, I know it’s your life, but it’s not going anywhere. It’ll be there next year. You need to put your health first. You need to go through the chemo. You need to get better. And then you can go and give Strictly your all,’” Sara explained.

She said Amy was prepared to take a step back from the show to focus on her recovery, and come back stronger next year. “I’ve got her teed up feeling, right, ‘I can do this. I’m just going to give it my all, getting better this year because next year I can do Strictly.’ And then there she was. And you see her every week. Having the time of her life. She leaves her heart on that dance floor. And then a foot injury,” Sara added.

The 34-year-old dancer was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and was forced to take a year-long break from the show following her diagnosis and subsequent cancer treatment. She made a triumphant return to the dancefloor this year, alongside former JLS singer JB, and was expected to be in this year’s final, but confirmed she would no longer be taking part in the show after her medical emergency.

“My heart is breaking right now. The past few months I finally felt like me again. Cancer was no longer the first thing I thought of when I woke up. It was choreography, music choices, which dances in which order, what we needed to work on. I felt free again,” Amy said in a statement on Sunday.

“My goal since hearing those words you have cancer was to get back on the Strictly dance floor. It’s been such a challenge to get back, one I devoted 2024 to. My heart right now is breaking having to pull out of the competition due to a foot injury and I know only too well ‘this too shall pass’ and I’ll be soon better and back dancing… I’m sure at some point we will dance again JB.”

Birds of a Feather cast now – Busted star to Colin Farrell’s father-in-law

Birds Of A Feather was one of the most successful shows of the 90s and was on air for three decades – with the show’s cast experiencing success and tragedy

Birds of a Feather, a TV staple for more than 30 years, with one of the most memorable theme tunes, first graced our screens on the BBC in 1989. The show starred Loose Women’s Linda Robson as Tracey Stubbs and TV icon Pauline Quirke as Sharon Theodopolopodous, two neighbours whose lives intertwine when their husbands were sent to jail.

Viewers fell in love with the Cockney pair, who were joined by the flirtatious neighbour Dorien Green, played by Lesley Joseph. Other notable appearances came from Alun Lewis, who played the role of Tracey’s husband, Darryl, and Peter Polycarpou, who starred as Pauline’s husband, Chris, for five series. Busted star Matt Willis also joined the cast as Tracey’s son, Gareth Stubbs, during the show’s return in 2014. As one of the most popular sitcoms in British TV, Busted ran for an impressive 12 series spanning over 30 years, but where are the stars today? We’ve taken a look back at what they’ve been up to since.

    Linda Robson

Loose Women panellist Linda has had a long-standing career in TV and film, most notably as Tracey in Birds of a Feather. The 65-year-old actress reprised her role for the show’s revival and has appeared on other TV shows such as The Likely Lads, The Tomorrow People, Going Out, L For Lester, and The Bill, reports the Express.

In 2017, Linda confessed that she had nearly broken down due to being buried under thousands of pounds of debt. She admitted to spending nights lying in bed worrying about her financial situation and avoiding bank letters. The actress previously revealed, “I ran up a lot of debts when Birds of a Feather had ended, but I was used to having a good income and buying things.”

She later discussed her financial difficulties with her husband, Mark Dunford, whom she separated from last year after 33 years of marriage, and he helped her pay off some of her debt. Linda, who’s now debt-free, has let on that her kids are in charge of the finances, and she’s got to ask them for spending money.

    Pauline Quirke

More recently, she’s graced our screens in hits like Broadchurch and You, Me And The Apocalypse.

However, she was noticeably absent from the Birds of a Feather Christmas special in 2020, fuelling speculation of a rift with her long-time friend and co-star Linda. Fans were left wondering if their five-decade friendship had hit the rocks after a supposed spat, which Linda, a Loose Women regular, firmly denied. Even though Pauline didn’t show up, her lines in the theme tune were cut, along with photos of Tracey and Sharon together.

Rumours swirled that Linda and Pauline had grown apart, but last year, Linda set the record straight. Speaking to The Mirror, she said: “People say Pauline and I have fallen out. Obviously, I couldn’t see her during lockdown, but I’ve seen her since. She just doesn’t want to act anymore. She’s had enough—it’s long hours. She’s concentrating on her drama academies. She’s very hands-on, going to classes and all that.

Linda and Pauline have been friends for more than 50 years
“I see Lesley [Joseph] all the time because we won Celebrity Coach Trip last year. And during the lockdowns, I would leave funny things on her doorstep, like Tena Lady and hair dye! But when I was ill, both Pauline and Lesley rang me, or a member of my family, every couple of days to see how I was. They were both a big support and really there for me.”

This week, we were saddened to hear the news that Pauline had made the decision to step back from all work following her dementia diagnosis four years ago. Her husband, Steve Sheen, said in the statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce my wife Pauline’s decision to step back from all professional and commercial duties due to her diagnosis of Dementia in 2021.”

More than two decades after her first TV appearance, Lesley Joseph is best known for her role as Dorien Green in Birds of a Feather. She has had a successful career, featuring in shows such as Minder, Ruth Rendall Mysteries, Night And Day and The Secret Of Eel Island. Despite being private about her personal life, Lesley opened up about the heartbreaking loss of her mother. “Losing a mother when you are very young, that is incredibly difficult because they don’t grow old with you,” she confessed to the Mirror in 2016.

“But if you lose them when they are older, you’ve had them all your life. I had a very close relationship with my mother. She was one of 12, and she was the last of them to die. I talk to her every day, in my head.” She added, “I don’t think you ever lose that – she had a thirst for life Hopefully, touch wood, I’ve got her genes.”

Busted star Matt Willis joined the cast of Birds of a Feather in 2014 to play Linda’s on-screen son, Gareth Stubbs, during the show’s revival. While he only had a brief stint on the show, many fans still remember it to this day, with Matt himself sharing his delight at securing the role. He previously said: “I’m so excited to be joining Birds of a Feather playing the role of Garthy! I used to watch the show growing up so this is just a dream job. I can’t believe I’ll be working with Sharon, Tracey and Dorien.”

Before joining the sitcom, Matt had already risen to fame during the 2000s in Busted alongside bandmates Charlie Simpson and James Bourne. The pop-punk band has been off and on throughout its career, first splitting in 2005, during which Matt released his first solo album. The band returned in 2015 with a tour and a new album before shortly parting ways, then returning again as they joined forces with McFlay to form McBusted.

Away from music, the 41-year-old clinched the jungle crown in I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! in 2006 and married his wife Emma Willis in 2008. They’ve hosted the UK version of Netflix’s Love is Blind together and share three children, Isabelle, Ace, and Trixie. In the past, Matt has been open about his drug addiction battle and his time spent in rehab on three occasions.

Alun Lewis played the recurring role of Tracey’s husband, Darryl, on the hit BBC show before he was replaced by Douglas McFerran. He is also noticeably known for starring in Emmerdale as Vic Windsor before he took a step back from the spotlight. In a field of all talents, Alun also formed part of the rock group The Woolpackers alongside his soap co-stars Steve Halliwell and Billy Hartman.

But Alun isn’t the only famous member of the family, as his daughter Amelia Warner is a musician who goes by the stage name of Slow Moving Millie. She hit the UK charts with a cover of The Smiths’ Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want in 2011 and by 2015 was successfully releasing her own original music.

Another famous tie is Amelia’s former marriage to Irish actor Colin Farrell, making him Alun’s former son-in-law. Amelia and Colin had a whirlwind marriage, having tied the knot in 2001 just four months after meeting, although it was never legalised. Speaking of their wedding, Amelia confessed: “It was just a thing we did on holiday. We went shark feeding and then we did that. We booked them both on the activities desk at the hotel – it really wasn’t this secret wedding that no one was invited to.

“It was lovely, it was silly, it was sweet, but by no means was it a serious thing, and I think my mum thought it was quite funny.” However, the couple did go on to get engaged before parting ways. Amelia went on to meet Fifty Shades actor Jamie Dornan in 2010, and today, they are happily married with three daughters, Dulcie, Elva and Alberta.

    Peter Polycarpou

Then there was Peter Polycarpou, who played the role of Pauline’s husband, Chris, for five series. After his time on Birds of a Feather, he starred in BBC’s Hustle and the thriller Cleanskin alongside Sean Bean. His career has also spanned to theatre productions, having appeared in Sancho in Man of La Mancha for the English National Opera in 2019 with Kelsey Grammar and Nicholas Lyndhurst.

Away from acting he went into the world of politics and became a Green Party politician, standing for local election in Muswell Hill. Strikingly, he has also played cricket for the world-famous Lord’s Taverners as a wicketkeeper.

  • ‘The Traitors is a BBC hit – but there’s still one major change that needs to be made’

‘The Traitors is a BBC hit – but there’s still one major change that needs to be made’

With The Traitors 2025 final almost upon us, The Mirror’s Live TV Editor Lauren Morris suggests one major change to the hit BBC show that could elevate it even more

Are you watching The Traitors? That’s the question everyone’s been asking over the last few weeks as the BBC competition’s third series brought camp chaos back to our screens.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman – who ditches her sequinned Strictly persona for fingerless gloves and an even longer fringe – The Traitors has instilled some flavour into what is usually dull January small-talk with its constant twists, brutal betrayals and iconic characters.

Faithful-turned-Traitor Charlotte Berman bemused everyone with choice to adopt a Welsh accent in the competition to appear more trustworthy, particularly when the only authentically Welsh contestant (Elen Wyn) was the first to be banished by her fellow contestants. Meanwhile, viewers couldn’t get over Linda Rands’ hilarious take on being a Traitor – which involved shedding crocodile tears over murdered Faithfuls she wasn’t that close to and on one occasion, almost outing herself by turning her head to Claudia when she addressed the Traitors at a roundtable.

Leanne Quigley, Jake Brown, Alexander Dragonetti, Charlotte Berman and Francesca Rowan-Plowden dressed up in a library as the final five of the Traitors.

While it’s clear that The Traitors is still as much of a hit on its third outing, with the BBC announcing that over 10 million viewers have tuned in to the gothic game of Werewolf/Mafia, there’s one format change that both fans and myself are calling for that could push the ratings up even higher. Ditch the Friday night slot for the primetime Sunday schedule.

Since its first series in 2023, The Traitors has dominated the end of the working week – airing from Wednesday until Friday at 9pm. Typically, BBC One’s 9pm Sunday slot has been almost exclusively saved for big dramas, from SAS Rogue Heroes and Strike to The Tourist, Death in Paradise and the upcoming series Miss Austen. Meanwhile, bigger entertainment formats like Strictly Come Dancing and Survivor have become Saturday staples thanks to their family-friendly themes.

The Traitors does not qualify for either genre, with it being a reality show at its essence and too tense for a feel-good Saturday night. And yet, the show – with its jaw-dropping drama and captivating contestants – feels like a perfect fit for Sunday primetime. Why wouldn’t you want to battle the Sunday scaries by following 22 paranoid people around a Scottish castle as they gossip, interrogate and double-cross their way through the competition?

The cat-and-mouse dynamic between the Faithfuls and the Traitors – and the contestants’ intensely emotional reactions – provide the TV thrill that we’re all seeking before we mentally prepare for a Monday morning of work. While Claudia’s witty one-liners, the Faithfuls’ ridiculous guesses and the Traitors’ camp killings bring levity to the pre-bed viewing – not to mention enough meme-worthy facial expressions to fill a Twitter timeline.

I’m not the only one who feels this way, with many fans calling for a Friday slot. “Traitors is such Sunday, Monday, Tuesday TV,” one said on X. “It has no place on a Friday night. The ultimate betrayal is the scheduling.”

Another wrote: “Kinda feel like we need a Sunday night Traitors ep just to steady ourselves for the week to come. And one on Monday just to get over Monday. And a Tuesday one just to take the edge off.”

The Traitors’ scheduling is certainly not the only flaw with its format. There have been times when contestants took the game play too seriously, leading to complaints of bullying from the public, while the show often loses its best personalities murdered early-on by Traitors who see them as a threat.

However, an easy fix to the small but simple viewer complaint about scheduling would be for the BBC to upgrade one of its biggest hits in recent years to its rightful primetime slot. We’ve seen so many Traitors twists over the last three series – from Diane and Ross being mother and son to the introduction of The Seer last night – however, one of its greatest just could be a move to Sunday nights.

The Traitors’ Claudia Winkleman fights back tears as shares ’emotional’ reaction to brutal banishment

The Traitors presenter Claudia Winkleman fought back tears on the spin-off Uncloaked as she reflected on her “emotional” reaction to the BBC show’s eventful final

It’s been a dramatic night for fans of The Traitors, with the BBC One series airing its jaw-dropping final and crowning its 2025 champions. While it was an emotionally charged episode for the contestants, it was just as teary for host Claudia Winkleman – who fought back tears while talking about filming the show.

Appearing on The Traitors: Uncloaked, which aired immediately after the finale, Claudia told host Ed Gamble that she found watching the episode back “very emotional”.

“My eye make-up is deeply smudged, even more than usual. I found it very emotional,” Claudia said about watching the finale. “The last three days were very emotional because Minah went and Charlotte was brilliant. Freddie didn’t want to be a Traitor and he was amazing…It was very emotional and very tense.”

Later in the episode, Charlotte and Leanne were talking about sharing a moment in the kitchen alone where they spoke about knowing that Charlotte was a Traitor. A visibly upset Claudia said: “It really made me cry. I was watching upstairs – I can’t cry now. I was watching you both in the kitchen,” she said, voice breaking.

Uncloaked host Ed provided some comic relief, adding: “I mean it would help our ratings if you had a little cry.”

Tonight’s finale saw Faithful contestants Leanne and Jake walk away with the £100,000 prize, splitting the winnings after banishing Charlotte, Alexander and Frankie. Earlier in the episode, Frankie found out that Charlotte was a Traitor after winning the power of The Seer and convinced her fellow contestants to banish Charlotte ahead of the firepit ceremony.

Despite there being just four Faithfuls left, the group decided to banish twice – saying goodbye to Alexander and Frankie before ending the game.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the results, with many threatening to “call Ofcom” after Alexander’s banishment. “Alexander I am sorry these people can’t be trusted, I am contacting ofcom,” wrote one. “I feel bad for Alexander,” said a second, while a third commented: “They just didn’t deserve Alexander.”

Others were angry at Frankie’s banishment, with one viewer saying: “The only reason a traitor was even found was thanks to Frankie and she doesn’t even win. GOODNIGHT.”

I’m a Celeb’s Jane Moore reveals personal bombshell leaving campmates speechless

Jane Moore, known for sharing her views on Loose Women and her lengthy career in journalism, spoke to campmates on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! on ITV on Wednesday

Jane Moore once left a tattoo parlour mid procedure – because it was “too painful” to complete.

The Loose Woman told her I’m a Celebrity co-stars the comical story about when she went for the etching at just 18 – but found it too agonising so left after an outline was done.

Speaking on Wednesday’s show on ITV, she said the outline now resembles a “golden eagle” because her bum has got bigger since. The confession left her campmates, including Corrie actor Alan Halsall, McFly singer Danny Jones, N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos, speechless.

The gang were eventually pictured bursting into laughter at Jane’s cheeky mishap, which she shared after asking Danny about his tattoo on his right leg. The musician, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, admitted he was underage when he got the large inking done but, as a kid, wanted something with Bruce Springsteen lyrics on.

Then Jane, who has been a regular on Loose Women since 2013, said: “When I was about 18, I thought I’m gonna get a bluebird on my bum. They just did the outline and I went ‘too painful, thanks’, and I just left… So I’ve just got this outline. It’s like a golden eagle now because my arse has got bigger.”

It offered Danny, 38, light relief as later in the show, he broke down as he opened up on battling anxiety since he was a teenager. Talking about therapy and his emotions, jungle co-stars Oti Mabuse and Tulisa both praised the musician for opening up.

Asked about therapy, Danny went on: “Yeah, I’ve been in therapy since I was 19 for anxiety.” It’s then that he detailed an on-air panic attack that left him “freaking out” during a televised interview. He revealed: “I was freaking out and I couldn’t answer the question that got asked to me. Heart rate goes crazy.”

Jane had asked whether he’d suffered with it from childhood, with Danny becoming upset with his head in his hands as he told her: “I think I escaped a lot.”

As he broke down, Tulisa said in the Bush Telegraph: “We’re seeing a lot of emotion coming out of Danny which is beautiful.” Back in camp Danny then thanked his campmates.

Exclusive: Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash’s row was ‘real’ – and it’s all down to their new TV show

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have been the nation’s sweethearts for years, but fans were left concerned when the couple were seen having a row in the street

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash, the much-loved celebrity couple, tugged at heartstrings with their enchanting wedding in 2022 at the picturesque Pickle Cottage. Yet, they had fans fretting over potential discord in paradise, as images surfaced showing what seemed to be an intense public ‘row’—with Stacey in obvious distress.

In the aftermath, Stacey took off for a self-proclaimed ‘much needed’ girl’s trip to Vegas, leaning on her friends for comfort as she shared on Instagram feeling ‘supported’, amidst speculation about the spat with Joe, famed ex-EastEnders actor. The tearful telly fave was captured apart from Joe, who was spotted strolling down the street solo with his vape, as OK! reports.

She appeared consoled by a crew member — the pair are currently being followed by a documentary team. An eyewitness reported to a tabloid: “About 15 minutes later Joe was having an animated talk with the man. Eventually Stacey walked towards Joe in the car and shouted something. They ended up leaving separately. It all looked very tense.”

Inside sources now claim that the public dispute wasn’t just for show—it was the real deal and might stem from pressures of their upcoming reality series. “Their recent argument was a real one and both are wondering what they signed up for. It seemed a great idea at the time but they’re worried about exposing themselves even more, which is what this row showed.”

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash’s fans are all a-buzz on social media as the much-loved couple regularly entertain with snaps of their quirky married life, which includes crafting mischievous pranks and sharing moments that range from heartwarming to hilariously annoying. But the latest scoop promises to put the pair under a different kind of spotlight.

Escape To Pickle Cottage, the rumoured name of their brand-new BBC reality show, promises to be a no-holds-barred series poised to delve deep into the bustling household of Stacey, Joe, and their six kids at their plush Essex home. From Stacey’s knack for interior design, to the energetic youngsters and their pets – including their adored ducks Daisy and Delilah Solomon-Swash – fans are eagerly anticipating this candid look into their favourite stars’ daily antics. While the power couple’s massive online following can’t wait, there’s word from our insider that the filming experience isn’t quite what Stacey bargained for.

Filming for the new BBC series means cameras following the family around regularly

It seems the pressures of having cameras around the clock might be taking its toll. “It’s really starting to show the strain between her and Joe – she wanted this more than him and he’s not as comfortable being filmed 24/7,” the source revealed. “When Stacey signed up for the reality show she had no idea how much pressure she would be under.”

Reality TV doesn’t shy away from the nitty-gritty, as seen on Netflix’s ‘At Home With the Furys’ and America’s guilty pleasure ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’, where family feuds are just part of the script. It appears though that Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have felt the sting of too much reality in their own lives.

A source claimed: “Despite people telling her that it’s not as easy as it looks, she just thought it would be like putting up posts and stories on her Instagram. But producers want drama and storylines so it won’t just be her playing happy families,” adding that, “Stacey is quite open about their arguments but this was a big one – and there has been a lot of tension.”

During her trip to Sin City, where Stacey witnessed Adele live and had a personal shout-out, she couldn’t help but gush over her pals for being a rock-solid support system, stating: “they literally lift me up, have my back, keep me going, make me feel so supported and I just couldn’t do life without them.”

Joe couldn’t hide his joy as he shared heartwarming pics of their lovely reunion, imagining warming up fans’ hearts when he captioned the shots: “The kids were super excited to show mummy the welcome home board they made. We all missed her so much. Just ain’t the same without you Stacey,” while Stacey herself added: “My babies came to the airport for me.”

According to the source, Stacey’s brief jaunt to the US has seemingly worked wonders for everyone involved. “Stacey went away for a few days and in that time Joe realised how much he missed her, needs her – and that they do really love each other.” All eyes are on the couple, hoping that the natural pressures that come with living life in front of cameras won’t spark further disputes. Despite occasional friction, it’s evident these two have a lot of love for one another.

Coleen Nolan’s son Jake Roche has baby boy with fiancée in emotional Loose Women reveal

Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan shared exciting baby news on Thursday’s episode as she revealed her son, Jake Roche, had welcomed a baby boy with his partner

Loose Women shared some exciting baby news for one of their panellists on Thursday’s show.

During the latest instalment, presenter Coleen Nolan revealed her son, Jake Roche, had welcomed a baby boy with his partner.

Coleen couldn’t help but gush about her new grandson, revealing she was emotional over the incredible milestone.

The presenter said: “I’ve got some good news to announce on my baby boy Jake and his gorgeous fiancée Georgia had a baby boy. So I’ve got a little grandson now, I’ve not even seen him yet apart from pictures and videos.”

To which co-star Kaye Adams replied: “You’ve not seen him?” with Coleen explaining: “Not yet, no! He was 5lbs7, he’s tiny! Nanny! Really surreal, so emotional and just a bit… surreal as in, when one of your kids has a baby. Jake to me is still my baby and there he is now a dad!

“The fact that he was so emotional, already he’s like: ‘Mum, I’m so so obsessed with him and so in love with him.’ The two of them together. She’s only just got home with him and they just want to have this week quiet getting to know him as a couple then they have no excuses, I’m going to hound them, then they’re getting married next July so he’ll be about seven months.”

It comes as Jake revealed earlier this month that he was about to become a father – with the bundle of joy due to arrive in just days.

The 32-year-old singer – who is the son of 59-year-old Loose Women star Coleen and EastEnders icon Shane Richie, 60 – has now welcomed his first child with partner Georgia.

Jake is the lead singer of a band called Push Baby – formerly known as Rixton – but has also stretched his creative wings in the world of acting.

He found critical praise for his stage show Neporrhoids which is a one-man show about his rise and fall in the music world. The show was a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was due to transfer to the Pleasance Theatre in London later this month – but he has now cancelled his dates and moved them to January 17 and 18 after he had a sudden change in family matters.

Taking to Instagram earlier this month, he announced in a statement: “Due to an unexpected yet exciting family development, I’ve decided to reschedule my upcoming November shows – 21/22/23. My partner and I are expecting the arrival of our little one around that time (sooner than we thought), and I want to be fully present to support her and our growing family.”

The star continued: “All tickets will be transferred over to the new date in January or refunded. Thank you for your patience and understanding! Here’s to the future of Nepo Babies!” He also added in a further caption to the statement: “New show link is in my bio. Hope to see you there.”

Loose Women continues on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
