Andrea McLean’s life after Loose Women – money woes, ill health and third marriage

Since walking away from her lucrative gig on Loose Women in 2021, Andrea McLean has thrown herself into her business with second husband alongside juggling health battles and worries about her finances

Andrea McLean ‘s life since quitting Loose Women hasn’t always been smooth sailing.

The broadcaster decided to walk away from the ITV panel show after 13 years after experiencing a nervous breakdown and living through a global pandemic forced her to reconsider her priorities.

Earlier this week, the 53-year-old issued a health update to her fans as she admitted her illnesses have left her bedridden for days at a time after pushing her ‘tired body’.

Fans praised Andrea for speaking openly about her health struggles on Instagram, but this isn’t the first time the Scottish star has been candid about the harder aspects of her life.

    Money struggles

Last year, Andrea admitted quitting Loose Women severely impacted her bank balance – with the star missing out on just more than a salary from ITV.

She explained that although she had factored in the loss of her anchor salary as the ‘breadwinner’ she suffered an unexpected financial setback when the plug was pulled on cash she earned from brand endorsement deals.

Speaking on the Secure The Insecure With Johnny Seifert podcast, she said: ‘When I made the announcement I was leaving TV to follow my heart and dreams, go all in on This Girl is On Fire, obviously we put a lot of planning into this moment because obviously it’s a huge jump.

The mum-of-two lost multiple brand deals just weeks after quitting
“I was the breadwinner and this was the job that was paying the bills but everyone in TV does jobs as well.”

Andrea then revealed that she and husband Nick Feeney discussed in depth the logistics of her huge career change as she pursued her own path penning a motivational book about her experiences.

She said: “I had enough corporate work lined up that was going to keep the funds coming in before I wrote This Girl’s On Fire and get traction so it was a calculated decision.

”On the day that I announced I was leaving, every brand dropped me… so I went from, ‘OK I knew I had this amount of money coming in and this much work that will see me through to the next six to eight months,’ it disappeared overnight.

”That’s how big a deal moving away from TV is. It was financially like a punch in the stomach, my safety net was gone. I was like, “Oh my god I only have my savings. I can’t turn back and change my mind. I have no over income.”

    House sale

One month on from quitting Loose Women in 2021, Andrea revealed how hard the decision had been for her and admitted she agonised over the decision for months.

In an interview with OK! Magazine she explained how she and husband Nick prepared for the worst before she broke the news she was walking away from the ITV panel show.

“It took months of thinking about it. We were preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. Nick and I sat down and wrote what we needed to prepare for,” Andrea recalled in 2021.

“Worst case – we would have to sell the house. Best, the This Girl Is On Fire membership and website we’ve set up works and we’re successful with that.”

Andrea and Nick now both work full time on their joint venture, with Nick’s daughter also on board.

    Third marriage

Andrea is now happily married to Nick, with the pair even running a successful business together, but the broadcaster was once embarrassed about the fact her current beau is her third husband.

The mum-of-two was previously married to BBC producer Nick Green, with whom she shares son Finlay with, but the pair called it quits when Andrea found love with fellow Our House presenter Steve Toms.

Steve and Andrea welcomed daughter Amy into the world November 2006 but split in 2012, just three years on from tying the knot.

Andrea tied the knot for a third time with current husband Nick in 2018 after four years of dating – with the former Loose Women confessing she didn’t expect to find love again.

“I never thought I’d feel like this again, that I’d fall in love and get the chance to start a new life,” she told HELLO! magazine shortly after marrying Nick.

“It’s been a revelation to him too. And because we make each other so happy, it’s changed our lives. So many people have commented on how much more positive I’ve become since I met him. Thanks to Nick, I’m no longer looking backwards, I’m looking forwards.”

    Health battles

In a lengthy post shared on Instagram this week, Andrea candidly told how her health woes have left her bedridden over recent days as she updated her 301,000 followers.

Andrea confessed that she has been left suffering with exhaustion and is awaiting test results.

Alongside a selection of images of her and husband Nick, another picture with her mum and a final snap of her beloved dog, Andrea penned: “Things I did to fill my cup this week, that weren’t to do with work…

Natasha Kaplinsky stumbles live on Loose Women as stars rush to check she’s OK

Broadcaster and Strictly star Natasha Kaplinsky was on Loose Women today to discuss how she is helping Ukrainian refugees in the UK

Natasha Kaplinsky took an awkward tumble as she made her way onto the Loose Women set today.

The broadcaster and Strictly Come Dancing star was on the show today to discuss how she is helping Ukrainian refugees in the UK, with one family joining her at her home. Natasha is a well known news journalist, and was also the first ever celebrity to win Strictly, which is now had over two decades of success.

However, as she made her way onto the show, she stumbled and the panellists – Ruth Langsford, Kelly Holmes, Coleen Nolan and Janet Street Porter – rushed to check she was alright as they voiced their concern.

Natasha stumbled as she made her way to the panel, insisting she was fine as the panellists checked on her from their seats.

Introducing her, Ruth revealed: “This past year she’s turned her focus to the war in Ukraine and even hosted a Ukrainian family at her home and her good work doesn’t stop there as she’s now working with a charity to raise awareness of the experience of child refugees. Please give her a warm welcome, Natasha Kaplinksky.”

As she made her way onto the show, she stumbled on the step, holding onto the wall for support as the audience let out shrieks of horror before clapping at Natasha saving herself from falling.

“Mind the step. I didn’t fall,” she joked when she sat down as Coleen and Ruth said she had recovered well and checked she was ok. Talk soon turned to her decision to help house a family of Ukrainian refugees.

Speaking to The Telegraph last year, Natasha said: “I registered to give a home to a Ukrainian family straight away. I’m from a family of refugees and enormously privileged to have the space, so it was my responsibility to step up. When I collected the four of them, a father who is partially blind and so couldn’t fight, a mother, a 12-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, they had just a small suitcase.”

Natasha was also asked about her Strictly Come Dancing stint, as she admitted she didn’t like dancing in public.

Natasha was on the first ever series of Strictly
Natasha was on the first ever series of StrictlyShe previously said of her hesitancy on joining the show: “As a woman in journalism and having fought quite hard to be taken seriously as a journalist, I felt like that really wasn’t what I needed – to suddenly get into a very short sparkly dress on a Saturday night and start dancing and ask for people to vote for me.

“I didn’t want to take what I felt was a step backwards. Ultimately, I was persuaded. Once I signed the contract, I had a terrible rush of anxiety and tried to break my ankle by falling off every street corner. I was trying to think of every possible reason not to do it.”

Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter clashes with Coleen Nolan in furious row over tipping

Janet Street-Porter and Coleen Nolan disagreed over whether its necessary to tip online retailers on Friday’s Loose Women

Janet Street-Porter clashed with Coleen Nolan on Tuesday’s Loose Women as the pair revealed whether they would tip online retailers such as clothing shops and food delivery services.

Janet fumed ” pay people a proper wage” when host Ruth Langsford explained some retailers used the ‘tip pot’ as a fund to buy their employees lunches and pay for activities.

Explaining she was against the idea, Janet said: “I will happily tip in a restaurant no problem whatsoever. I tip whenever I think a tip is appropriate I always tip a taxi or a driver.”

Interjecting, Ruth said: “When you’ve had the service,” and Janet agreed.

“But I just can’t understand what the service is if you’re putting a frock in a bag and sticking a stamp on it,” she fumed before Coleen disagreed.

Coleen pointed out that some online retailers may be small businesses that would benefit greatly from being tipped for their service.

“You don’t know, there are a lot of companies running from home, small retailers, so they do have a lot of overheads at home because they are doing all the packing themselves and putting stamps on,” she said.

Hitting back, Janet quipped: “Well charge more for the clothes,” as Coleen replied: “No because I won’t go back to them I’m only there because it’s cheap.”

Loose Women viewers sided with Janet in the debate and took to Twitter to question the need for online tipping.

One tweeted: “#LooseWomen pay them a decent wage and they wouldn’t need to ask for tips,” and another wrote: “As if anyone would tip a online clothing store #LooseWomen.”

A third fumed: “Online tip… who gets it? The business owner or the low paid person doing the picking and packing. Pay them properly, charge us appropriate price for item. DONE! #LooseWomen.”

“I’m happy to tip someone who brings me food but tipping a shop online? #LooseWomen,” another added.

Tuesday’s Loose Women saw Dame Kelly Holmes on the panel alongside Ruth, Janet and Coleen with the presenters welcoming newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky.

Jane Moore clashes with Coleen Nolan as she defends Matt Hancock over Covid WhatsApp leak

Jane Moore hit out at Coleen Nolan and the rest of the Loose Women panel as she argued the leaked Matt Hancock WhatsApp messages were in the “public interest”

Jane Moore disagreed with her Loose Women co-stars Coleen Nolan, Linda Robson and Kéllé Bryan as the panel discussed whether Matt Hancock’s WhatsApp messages referring to the handling of the Covid pandemic should have been leaked.

The former health secretary has come under scrutiny after journalist and ghost writer Isabel Oakeshott, who worked with Hancock on his Pandemic Diaries memoir, leaked the messages to the Daily Telegraph.

The messages suggest the former health secretary was told in April 2020 there should be “testing of all going into care homes”.

Coleen spoke about her experience with a ghost writer and argued: “It’s a really difficult one because obviously we did need to know the truth, somebody needs to tell the truth for once, but I felt really uneasy that someone [he] trusted [leaked the messages].”

“In a world well it’s hard to trust people it’s just another example of, ‘Who do you trust? Who can you tell anything to and they won’t go to a newspaper or sell it?’” Coleen added.

Interjecting, Jane asked: “Do you think there’s a difference though between your situation, because if you’re telling somebody things about your private life that’s one thing but there’s an argument here surely that it’s in the national interest?”

However, Linda agreed with Coleen and felt Hancock’s ghost writer should not have betrayed his trust before questioning whether Jane would do the same thing if she was tasked with writing her memoir.

The Loose Women presenter doubled down on her argument and exclaimed: “You’re not in the public interest!”

Kéllé also joined in the debate and suggested the debate was a question of “integrity” while Jane argued Isabel may have been concerned the Covid inquiry was “taking too long”.

A spokesperson for Mr Hancock said: “It is outrageous that this distorted account of the pandemic is being pushed with partial leaks, spun to fit an anti-lockdown agenda, which would have cost hundreds of thousands of lives if followed. What the messages do show is a lot of people working hard to save lives.”

Loose Women star Denise Welch has become a grandmother for the first time.

The presenter announced the happy news during her appearance on the ITV lunchtime show that her stepson Lewis Townley and his wife Elizabeth have welcomed their first child. She confirmed the little one arrived a couple of days ago.

However, she refused to say too much more or share any photos as she revealed that Lewis and Elizabeth had not yet announced the news themselves quite yet. Her co-stars were overjoyed with her as they celebrated the happy news.

Sharing in her joy, fellow panellists – Charlene White, Sophie Morgan and Brenda Edwards – all offered their congratulations.

Last year, Denise took to social media to post a sweet picture of the unborn baby in a 12-week ultrasound scan, which she wrote alongside: “Congratulations @lewtownley and @Elizabeth_Townley_ Cope on your first baby. We are thrilled.”

The presenter has two sons – Matthew Healy and Louis Healy – from her marriage to Tim Healy, who she split from in 2012. In 2013, she married Lincoln Townley, 50, who has son Lewis from a previous relationship.

The happy news comes after Denise admitted she was “fearful” at the start of her third marriage.

“We were party animals, two people in a mess, when we first met. My marriage was in freefall and I was drinking too much. Being with Lincoln could have been the most explosive disaster, but it went the opposite way. We’ve been each other’s anchor,” she added.

Corrie star warns of long-lasting effects on Amy Barlow following rape storyline

Coronation Street actress Elle Mulvaney – who plays Amy Barlow on the ITV soap – has warned of some long-lasting effects on her character going forward amid the non-consensual sex storyline

Coronation Street’s Amy Barlow will be hit by devastating and long-lasting effects following a harrowing rape storyline.

In Friday’s episode, Amy and Aaron find themselves drinking together following his argument with girlfriend Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and soon he finds himself seeking solace with Amy, and the pair begin to knock back the alcohol.

However, things turn dark when Aaron (James Craven) makes the decision for Amy ( Elle Mulvaney ) to have sex after the pair have had too much to drink. The soap is hoping to raise the awareness of consent with the tricky and heartbreaking storyline.

Speaking on Loose Women, Elle said: “I think it’s a very difficult thing to bring up, especially with Amy being in such a prominent family. Amy’s at a crossroads, she doesn’t know who she can tell or how she can start processing this.”

Elle has also warned this will have long-lasting effects on Amy going forward and says it will affect all her storylines long into 2023.

The actress had previously explained that the dynamic of the friend group will also change.

She previously told The Mirror: “The dynamic will definitely change [for the friendship group] because you’ll find that people are going to almost pick sides. With Amy being how she is you can’t be friends with them both because that’s going to be really difficult because what happens when they all want to go out or they all want to go on holiday together?”

The actress teased that there won’t be a future for Amy and Aaron on the cobbles together.”That’s when it becomes really difficult because Amy isn’t one going to want to be in the same room as Aaron,” Elle continued, “She feels like he’s a threat to her now so I feel like that will definitely have an impact on the wider group because they’re in the middle

Elle believes this will have a long-term effect on her feelings towards men.

“She’s been dumped by a boyfriend who lied to her supposedly, Amy obviously doesn’t know the truth and then by Aaron, who was one of her best mates,” she said, “I feel like her trust in general is going to go down because even though Aaron is a boy he was primarily a friend so I feel like it’s just more of a general thing.”

Strictly Come Dancing may have found its first contestant for the 2023 season – and it would be a historic first for the dance show.

Reports have suggested that Loose Women star Sophie Morgan is on the cusp of signing a deal to appear on the hit BBC dance show.

The 38-year-old presenter would make history on the show as she would be the first ever wheelchair user to star on the show.

Sophie has been paralysed from the chest down since being involved in a car accident at the age of 18 – and she would follow in a line of other pioneering contestants on the show.
