Brenda Edwards will ‘never forget’ vision of Jamal’s death as she shares his special message

Brenda Edwards appeared in her first TV interview with Coleen Nolan today following the death of son Jamal Edwards in February

Brenda Edwards was in tears as she recalled being with her late son Jamal when he died.

The musical theatre star and Loose Women panelist, 48, appeared in her first TV interview today since her son Jamal’s death in February.

Speaking to Coleen Nolan, she was asked how she was doing and she replied: “I’m doing OK… I’m taking each day as it comes.”

Recalling the day he died, Brenda said: “The one thing that I do want to say is I was with him and his sister was with us, we were all at home. It was sudden and it was unexpected and he went into cardiac arrest. Then he passed with me holding his hand, so I get a little bit of comfort from knowing I was with him.”

“As much as that is comfort, at the same time, it’s a vision that I’m never going to forget.”

Brenda revealed that she has a bedtime routine dedicated to her son that “keeps her going”.

“When I wake up every morning – all of his photos are still obviously in the house – and I look at him and say, ‘Good morning, baby’ and ‘Good night, baby’.

“And I think doing that is what’s keeping me going. He always had this lovely, bright smile, just used to light up. He had this funny laugh. I feel his presence constantly and I know I’ve always been somebody who has faith and who believes in that and that has been a massive comfort to me.”

Brenda said that she had felt “overwhelmed” over the sheer volume of support they had received in the wake of Jamal’s death and that they were “so grateful”.

Jamal left instructions for his mum in the tragic event that he would die on how to take over his charities and businesses – and even had instructions for his funeral.

“I was glad to get that instruction from him,” Brenda explained. “He wanted Luton to be involved, he wanted Chelsea to be involved… he had a blue and white theme.

    “It was beautiful.”

Opening up about the day of his funeral, Brenda said: “When we laid him to rest, it was really beautiful. We looked up into the sky and there was a J – the clouds had formed a J. A friend took a picture of it.”

Speaking of Jamal’s legacy, she said: “He said, ‘We all die, the goal is not to live forever but to create something that will.’ And I believe he has created something that will and I’m determined to make sure that it will. That’s my goal.”

Jamal was the founder of the online urban music platform SB.TV and his work in the music industry led him to become friends with several celebs – including Ed Sheeran, Will.i.am, Professor Green and Rio Ferdinand.

Following his death, Brenda penned a statement and shared it with Good Morning Britain, which was read out live on air by Susanna Reid.

“It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanish and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world,” she shared.

She continued: “As we come to terms with his passing, we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support.

A string of Brenda’s Loose Women stars paid tribute to Jamal and vowed to support her, with Denise Welch writing: “My heart aches for my friend Brenda. I can’t bear it. Jamal Edwards was a wonderful son and brother [sad face emojis].”

Charlene White shared: “Your light shone so brightly that it touched so many of us, impacted the lives of many more, and changed the game forever. And, you are my Brenda’s son. There are no words to describe her heartbreak, our heartbreak, now that your light has gone. Sometimes life is terribly unfair.”

“I have just heard the heartbreaking news that @jamaledwards has died,” Saira Khan penned, “I am devastated for @brendaedwardsglobal and send her and her whole family my prayers and deepest sympathies. I met @jamaledwards whilst filming a children’s show and was struck by his humility and passion to help kids to believe in their talents.”

Carol McGiffin admits Loose Women ‘aren’t best friends’ after being ‘pit against each other’

The Loose Women panel addressed the culture of women being pit against each other in their workplace, as Carol McGiffin admitted the panellists were not ‘best friends’ but ‘all get on’

The Loose Women panellists discussed being “pitted against each other” in the public eye on Tuesday’s instalment of the daytime ITV show.

ITV presenters Katie Piper, Carol McGiffin and Kelle Bryan joined host Ruth Langford for the discussion which kicked off with the news that Countdown’s Anne Robinson has confirmed her departure from the Channel 4 show.

As the 77-year-old presenter stepped down from the popular game show, she has been forced to deny rumours of a rift with co-star Rachel Riley.

Addressing the speculation over her departure, Anne said: “I’m not saying I would go on holiday with Rachel Riley, but she is brilliant.

“Absolutely honestly, I do admire her – she is really, really good at what she does, as is [co-star] Susie Dent.”

Ruth kicked off the conversation on the Countdown rumours by saying: “It always appears to me to be women pitted against women.

“The media particularly like to pit women against women and assume there’s something going on.”

Fellow panellist Katie described it as “almost an obsession” to “find out who is the horrible woman”, noting it didn’t seem to be a phenomenon for men working together.

In January this year, Loose Women bosses strongly denied claims that the hosts were refusing to work with Coleen Nolan after her agent called Nadia Sawalha a ‘nasty witch’ on Twitter.

But Loose Women stars Jane Moore and Katie subsequently told the Mirror they are “past” the endless “rift” rumours associated with the ITV panel.

On Tuesday’s show, Carol then went on to touch on the rumours which swirled around the show earlier this year, saying: “I think there’s a lot of pressure on women to deny there isn’t a rift going on between other women that they work with.”

Ruth then joked: “What are you looking at me for?” and the panel burst into laughter. She added: “We’re best friends Carol.”

Carol said: “Look, we all get on, we all like each other,” but she then said: “We’re not best friends"

ITV)Straight-talking Carol continued, saying: “Look, we all get on, we all like each other,” but she then said: “We’re not best friends obviously, because we all live in different parts of the world, so it’s that geographical thing.

But I do think that this whole thing is about the people who put pressure on to be nice and be kind.

“I’m always told that I’m not nice and not kind. But the people who try and force that narrative are the people who are genuinely not nice.”

Stacey Solomon says she was sexualised for having boobs at 10 years old

Loose Women panellists were discussing flirting when the conversation turned to Stacey Solomon being sexualised at a young age

Loose Women ‘s Stacey Solomon said she was sexualised when her body developed at 10 years old.

The panellist discussed what it is like to have larger boobs and said that most people will ‘think you’re coming on to them’.

“Being a busty girl, it doesn’t matter what you do, people will think you’re coming on to them,” she told her fellow panellists.

While some of them laughed, she continued to explain her point.

“If you’ve got a big shape, like I’ve got massive boobs, and I love them,” Stacey said.

“I remember being a young girl, being a teenager and even before I was a teenager… I developed really young and people automatically thought that it was a sexual thing and assumed I was flirting with them, laughing at them, whatever…

“But I might have been 10 years old but with boobs.”

The conversation began when the women, including Katie Piper, Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams, discussed flirting.

Nadia had said people consider her to be a flirty person, but in actuality, she is simply interested in what others have to say.

Katie agreed and said she enjoys speaking to people.

Kaye then added: “I agree you’re, you both like people and you’re interested. But I would say you, Nadia, are flirty. And Katie you’re friendly. And I don’t know why,” which prompted Stacey’s conversation on sexualisation.

Footballers’ Wives actress and Strictly star Laila Rouass has opened up about how she and fiancé Ronnie O’Sullivan rekindled their romance, following their shock split earlier this year

Actress Laila Rouass has opened up about how she and fiancé Ronnie O’Sullivan found their way back to each other after their breakup.

Footballers’ Wives star Laila met snooker world champion Ronnie by accident while she was house hunting in 2012.

The couple got engaged just a year later but never actually married.

They saddened fans when they announced they would separate after more than a decade together.

Appearing on Loose Women today, the 50-year-old revealed she and Ronnie had already been broken up for eight months when they made the news public in February.

However, over the last few weeks there was plenty of speculation about the couple giving their relationship another go with Laila snapped wearing her engagement ring again.

“It seems like they are giving things another go. Nothing is ever straightforward when it comes to Ronnie but there’s a lot of love there.”

Laila has now confirmed the happy news on the lunchtime chat show and said they had “found our way back”.

She told the show’s panellists: “Me and Ronnie are back together, we found our way back.

“We just worked it out – back when I announced it, we hadn’t been together for almost eight months at that time.

She added: “Talking is so underrated. If you can sit down and say how you feel and what you want – when you get older that is much easier to say too.”

During the chat, Laila also revealed the snooker ace has been “feeling flat” ever since winning the world championship in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

She said: “Ronnie, he’s just won the seventh world title and he’s come back home and he feels flat.

At the time, she took to Twitter to say: “After nearly ten years of love and memories, Ronnie I have parted ways. Peace and love to you all. Laila X (sic).’”

She later added in a post on Instagram that breakups don’t have to be “a sad time”.

Loose Women viewers accuse panel of attacking Keir Starmer in ‘car crash’ interview

Loose Women stars Ruth Langsford and Jane Moore did not hold back during Monday’s show as they grilled Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer about his alleged ‘rule breaking’ and people calling him a ‘hypocrite’

Viewers tuning into Monday’s Loose Women were not overly impressed as the panel interviewed Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer.

The 59-year-old politician joined Ruth Langsford, Linda Robson, Brenda Edwards and Jane Moore in the ITV studio to mark the beginning of Arthritis Care Awareness Week 2022.

However, before speaking to Keir about his mother Josephine and her battle with Arthritis, the ladies were keen to ask him about Boris Johnson.

Commenting on Sir Keir’s desire for the Prime Minister to resign, Ruth informed him that 63 per cent of voters branded him a ‘hypocrite’ in a recent poll.

Responding, Sir Keir said: “I think the big difference is that I’ve been very clear that I haven’t broken the rules.

“But equally I’ve said that if the police do issue me with a fixed penalty notice, I will do the right thing and I will step down, so I’ve put everything on the line because I think that’s the right thing to do.”

As Sir Keir referred to Boris’ rule-breaking and ‘Partygate’, Ruth reminded him: “But you’d had a curry takeaway for 30 people delivered, as we understand it.”

Quickly correcting her, he said: “No it wasn’t 30 people, that’s already been retracted,” as Jane chimed in: “How many was it?”

Barely looking at Jane, Sir Keir replied: “About 15 or so,” as Jane fired back: “It’s still a lot.”

Sir Keir continued: “I haven’t broken the rules, but my instinct as soon as I knew Durham had decided they were going to reopen this investigation, in my heart I knew what I was going to say, which is if I’m wrong and they find I have broken the law, then I’ll do the right thing and step down…

“I hope that isn’t going to happen, I don’t think that’s going to happen. But I’m trying to make a bigger point here, because there’s allegations – who did what/when. But there’s a bigger point here, which is trust in politics. The number of times I hear, ‘You’re all the same, you won’t do the right thing’.”

Loose Women viewers weren’t overly impressed with the interview and took to Twitter to comment.

One person posted: “Keir Starmer is getting his a*se handed to him by the #LooseWomen.”

Another tweeted: “loose women on the tv, Keir Starmer being interviewed, absolute car crash interview. what a disaster, the women are tieing him in knots!!! Boris will be laughing at this, no wonder the tories feel invincible #beerwithkeir #beergate #keirstarmer #tories #loosewomen (sic).

Ruth Langsford could be making a huge TV appearance after shock Eamonn Holmes split

Loose Women star, Ruth Langsford, has been tipped to star in another huge ITV show after it was revealed she was heading for divorce with her estranged husband, Eamonn Holmes

Ruth Langsford could be heading for one of ITV’s biggest shows after calling it quits with Eamonn Holmes.

The former couple, both 64, sent shockwaves through the showbiz world in May when they announced they were heading for divorce. Following the news, Eamonn was back at work on GB News the next day, but Ruth took a lengthy hiatus from Loose Women.

She is now back on the show and also made a triumphant comeback for a guest spot on This Morning for the first time in two years this week. Now, fans reckon they’re going to be seeing a lot more of the seasoned presenter… when she joins Dancing On Ice. Despite there being no reports confirming Ruth’s participation on the show, her legion of loyal followers think the mum-of-one is going to spill the secret on Loose Women this week.

The programme is revealing who will be taking part in the ITV skating show and fans are convinced Ruth is in the lineup. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one wrote: “OMG! I think Ruth’s going to reveal that she’s signed up for DOI” while another mused: “Ive got a feeling Ruth is going to do DOI after Eamonn split.”

So far, four contestants for this year’s Dancing On Ice have been officially confirmed. Ferne McCann was the first announced name, followed by The Traitors’ Mollie Pearce.

Coronation Street’s Sam Aston confirmed his appearance on This Morning while dressed as a snowman, with Sir Steve Redgrave being one of the most shocking so far.

Ruth, meanwhile, looked resplendent This Morning sofa on Monday, September 30. The Loose Women host stunned in a silver sparkling gown as she made a comeback alongside three of her fellow panellists.

The women – including Coleen Nolan, Olivia Attwood and Jane Moore – were celebrating 25 years of the ITV lunchtime show with current This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

Ruth famously co-hosted This Morning alongside her estranged husband, Eamonn. The pair were presenters on Fridays and they also provided holiday cover for former hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Despite her history on the This Morning set, Ruth showed no sign of awkwardness and seemed completely at ease to be back alongside her Loose Women colleagues, who all looked very glamorous in their sparkly silver dresses.

On Tuesday’s instalment of This Morning, Ben Shephard was left less than impressed as money-saving expert Martin Lewis caught the presenter out while playing a game on-air.

This Morning presenter Ben Shephard was left feeling red-faced during Tuesday’s show. It comes after ITV viewers were shown a viral clip of two people playing an extreme version of the popular children’s game, Simon Says.

In disbelief at the speed the contestants were going, Ben said: “I can’t breathe watching that! I’m trying to work out how they did it.”

However, the This Morning stars decided to give the game a go themselves, wanting to see how well they’d be able to do.

With Martin Lewis coming over to be the person instructing them, the money-saving expert said: “We’ll start easy.”

Both Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley stood up, ready to be instructed, as their two guests followed.

The money-saving star said: “Martin says put your hand on your shoulders. Martin says put your hands on your hips.

Speaking to Martin, Ben shouted over: “The look of glee on your face! I’ve been practising, that’s how awful that was. I’m devastated.”

Touching on Ben’s frustration, Cat added: “So angry, so angry right now!”

Elsewhere during the show, Ben got a bit of a scolding from Cat after sharing some words of warning when speaking to Grand Designs star Kevin McCloud.

Speaking about a particular episode, Ben highlighted one house was meant to take eight months to complete, but ended up being done six years down the line.

Griminancing, Cat said: “I’m doing up a house at the moment, don’t say things like that! It sounds dreadful!”

Sharing some advice, Kevin told the ITV star to do things slowly and know her budget.

Loose Women star begs co-star ‘stop’ as she’s quizzed about sex live on ITV show

Loose Women returned to our TV screens on Tuesday afternoon and presenter Katie Piper was left embarrassed as her co-stars quizzed the panellist of her sex life

Loose Women’s Katie Piper was left red-faced after her co-stars quizzed the panellist about her sex life. During Tuesday’s episode of the ITV hit daytime show, viewers and the live studio audience were joined by Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, Linda Robson, and Katie as the panellists delved into a chat Dame Jilly Cooper’s steamy novel Rivals, which is hitting screens next month (October 18) as a Disney+ series.

The book was first published in 1988 and is part of the Rutshire Chronicles, a collection of 11 romantic novels set among the British upper-class is the second book in the series.

Ruth, who is a fan of the books, started off by saying: “Looking forward to that one very much. Oh I remember those books very well. We were discussing this morning and straight away it got me thinking, ‘Where did you learn about sex?’”

    Katie Piper
Katie Piper was left embarrassed on Tuesday afternoon

Katie wasn’t on board with the chat as she turned to her co-star and said: “Ruth you’re giving me the ick. I don’t want this chat at lunch time with my coffee.”

Ruth jumped in: “You’re a grown woman. We are allowed to talk about sex,” as Katie turned to the camera and remarked: “Hi mum.”

She continued: “We didn’t really talk about it at home. I learned about it in science class and I think my only memory would be getting slightly aroused by the catalogues and not just the men. It was the men and the women so that was something I had to explore.”

Linda asked: “Did you not have chats with your mum?” Visibly embarrassed, Katie shouted: “No! Stop probing me.” Ruth then said: “Obviously in school yes you had the biology but I’m talking about when the girls would get together. There was always one girl in my school who did it and we all asked ‘What was it like’”.

Coleen admitted: “It was all trial and error for me. That’s how I learnt, trial and error.” The remark had everyone laughing as she added: “Mainly error.”

Ruth pointed out: “And you have a sister.” Coleen replied: “Yes I was very lucky that I had five older sisters because my mum was terrible when it comes to talking about things like that so I never went to my mum.”

She added: “I know she was an expert on it but she just didn’t want to talk about it. I’m lucky I had an older sister because if I was worried I could talk to them about it.”

However, sometimes those discussions threaten to boil over into something bigger with tempers flaring in the studio with opinionated stars clashing on a number of issues

The ladies are big characters with big opinions and their no-nonsense attitude often guarantees drama for viewers tuned in at home.

But is it the same off-screen?

This week Carol McGiffin admitted “Look, we all get on, we all like each other,” before adding: “We’re not best friends obviously.”

The stars have always denied any bigger feuds and say they leave their feelings firmly in the studio.

Coleen Nolan has previously denied she had upset a number of her co-stars after false reports a number of them were ‘refusing to work with her.’

We take a look back at some of the biggest screen rows to be broadcast on the daytime show and find out what went down…

    Denise Welch V Kaye Adams

Denise Welch has certainly been at the centre of some storms over the years.

Last year, she found herself caught up in some debates surrounding Covid regulations, making it clear she felt the government’s rules made “absolutely no sense.”

Denise announced: “I will no longer abide by rules that make absolutely no sense.”

And when Kaye said that would lead to chaos, she hit back: “Maybe there has to be a bit of anarchy.”

The Scottish host told her bluntly: “To be brutal, if I have got to listen to you or Professor Chris Whitty, I’m going to go with Professor Chris Whitty.”

In 2014, Myleene Klass appeared briefly as a panellist – but soon after she took to social media, accusing the show of misogyny, as reported by The Sun.

She wrote: “I love Loose Women. It’s nice to be able to articulate and get things out there. But I feel it was getting a bit misogynistic, a bit post-menopausal or pre-menopausal and ranty.

“That’s not how women should be represented so it’s nice they’ve refreshed the panel and we can talk about politics, fashion designers and what else is going on in the week.”

Loose Women stalwart Denise Welch wasn’t happy with her comments, and hit back: “Sadly ratings suggest most viewers don’t agree with you,” before deleting the tweet.

It came after Janet Street-Porter lost her temper with the singer on-air, snapping: “I’m happiest when I’m not sat next to you Myleene!”

    Saira Khan Vs everyone

Saira Khan’s exit last year certainly challenges the idea that all of the women are friends off-screen.

In fact, she said as much when she left.

The former Apprentice star said she was “absolutely not” friends with all of the show’s line-up.

She told Platinum magazine: “People think you’re best friends with everybody on Loose Women.

“You’re absolutely not! You have to just tolerate [some people] because you’ve got to get the job done.”

She then unfollowed many of her co-stars including Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams, whom she often shared the panel with.

    Carol McGiffin V Andrea McLean

When Carol McGiffin was left off the invitation list to Andrea McLean’s wedding in 2017 she did not keep quiet about it – especially when all the other Loose Women ladies were there.

In her Best mag column, Carol wrote: “I’m ecstatic for them both, even though I wasn’t invited to the wedding.”

She added: “Andrea’s managed to squeeze in two weddings in less time than I’ve been engaged to Mark, which is a bit embarrassing to say the least.”
