Nadia Sawalha says being pregnant was ‘the only time’ she really loved her body

Loose Women panelist Nadia Sawalha spoke about being pregnant with her two daughters Maddie and Kiki and reckons that having her children actually saved her life

Loose Women panelist Nadia Sawalha has revealed that being pregnant was ‘the only time’ she really loved her body.

The 57-year-old star, who is mum to two daughters Maddie and Kiki, had a lot to say on Thursday’s show as they spoke about having babies.

Nadia was joined on the panel by Jane Moore, Katie Piper and Charlene White as she discussed the possibility of machines being able to grow human life outside of the body.

“It’s been created for those who are unable to have children,” Charlene explained as she said the option of doing so could be just two generations away.

Looking shocked, Nadia said: “An incredible invention for those people who can’t but at the same time you worry where that could end up.

“I was lucky enough, I loved being pregnant. It was the only time I really loved my body, I was the most body confident,” she continued.

“I felt like the cleverest person in the whole world that I was just chatting to people while growing a lung!”

“The thing is with me, I was an absolute reprobate before I got pregnant. I was a smoker, I was a drinker, I was a partier,” Nadia continued.

“I often say actually, in a way my children saved my life because I think I was on a terrible trajectory. But I got pregnant and it’s almost like it was the training to fix all of that, the drinking, the smoking.”

Exclusive: Andrea McLean reveals why she quit Loose Women for new job after ‘outgrowing’ show

Andrea McLean left Loose Women after 13 years on the ITV panel show to focus on her career as a self-help author and focus on the brand she runs with her husband – and now a move to Florida could be on the cards

After 13 years on Loose Women, the decision to leave the show was a huge one for Andrea McLean.

Those around her – including her fellow panellists – told her she’d regret it.

But, determined to start a new life, she stuck to her guns and now, two years later, those regrets have failed to materialise. In fact the very opposite.

“I have no regrets at all, 100%,” says Andrea.

“I look back really fondly on my time there, and I was so lucky. I had the best job in the world but it just didn’t fit anymore.

“That’s not a bad thing, we all change and you’re not the same person a decade later.

“Most of us will outgrow our jobs at some point.”

She made the decision to step down from the panel to concentrate on a new career as a self-help author and focus on This Girl is On Fire – the brand she runs with her third husband Nick Feeney.

She adds: “Because I was doing This Girl is On Fire on the side it just became clearer that this is what I wanted to be doing.”

And leaving the ITV show has even made her re-think her home life too and there’s a move to Florida in the pipeline, once her children Finlay, 20 and Amy, 15 have flown the nest.

The 52-year-old says: “Moving to Florida is something that won’t happen for a while because of the kids and schooling, but eventually we would like to live there for the winter.

“Our business is online so we can operate from anywhere.

“The way I see it is I’m in my fifties now, I may have only 30 or so winters left so if I can choose to spend them somewhere warm then I definitely will.”

In fact, the star, who shot to fame as a weather presenter on GMTV, says she now even looks back fondly on her time taking part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

Andrea has previously claimed the gruelling experience in 2019 where she was interrogated by Ant Middleton led her to confront traumatic experiences from her past, causing her to have an emotional breakdown.

“I am so glad I did that show – it was the best thing I ever did,” reveals Andrea, who left early after catching hypothermia.

“It was really hard and one of the worst experiences because of that, but I’m happy I did it because it changed the course of my life. I’m so fond of the guys because they did their job.

“They were scary, big men but they were amazing.”

Last week, Andrea released her latest book You Just Need to Believe It, a guide to a 10-day challenge that claims to help people find happiness, break out of their comfort zone and find inner strength.

“This is the first book where I’ve tried and tested it before putting it out, because it’s based on a challenge that I did with my community,” says Andrea.

“I know it works and it’s a really nice feeling. The feedback coming in so far has been beautiful.

“People have already got in touch with me to say they’ve been making changes and it’s wonderful to hear.”

    Andrea McClean
Andrea McClean has no regrets since leaving Loose Women twShe also reveals that she’s set to take This Girl is On Fire to the next level by launching an app so users around-the-world can access content on the go, such as podcasts and masterclasses.

In June, Andrea and Nick both became certified life coaches, and she says working with her husband on their brand day-to-day is a mix of being “challenging” and “interesting”.

She adds: “It’s all of those words, but it’s also been great.

“When you work on a business you both run, nobody cares about it as much as both of you do so you’re not coming home from work and talking about something and your other half doesn’t care.

“The joy of it is that we think about it 24 hours a day, but that can also be a downside, so for us it’s been really important to try and find moments where we have a day off…which doesn’t always work.”

And while she has recently been doing online presenting work for This Girl is On Fire, on Monday night Andrea will be returning to the stage in front of an audience for the first time since leaving Loose Women when she hosts a variety performance to raise money for Ukraine.

The sold-out Concert for Ukraine will be taking place at Eastbourne’s Royal Hippodrome Theatre, but will also be available for viewers elsewhere in the country to live stream from home this evening.

It is looking to raise funds for UNICEF’s Ukraine Emergency Fund, which is providing families with clean water and food, giving information to people seeking refuge and delivering essential supplies such as medicine.

“Getting involved with hosting the concert was a no-brainer, I said yes before the words were properly out when I was asked,” says Andrea.

“I’ve done some presenting in front of online audiences, but this is going to be the first time standing in front of hundreds of people in real life.

“I’m really excited for it, and not nervous at all because everybody involved has really committed to it being a brilliant night.”

Andrea says that personally she has been giving donations of money and clothes to organisations helping Ukraine, but tonight is an opportunity to help raise thousands of pounds.

She adds: “It was really important to work with a charity such as UNICEF, because they are so experienced.

“You know that this money is going to be put exactly where it needs to be very quickly.”

The show will feature performances from several celebrities from stage and screen, including AJ and Curtis Pritchard, X Factor winner Dalton Harris and former Strictly Come Dancing professional Chloe Hewitt as well as talent from local schools in Eastbourne.

Andrea will be co-hosting the evening with Olympic gold medal-winning figure skater Robin Cousins, and says she’s excited to see him again after he judged her during her Dancing on Ice stint in 2006.

“I hope he’ll remember as it was a long time ago,” says Andrea.

“Robin was an absolute dream on Dancing on Ice, he was so sweet and lovely so I am really looking forward to connecting with him again.”

And despite Andrea’s new career change as a life coach, she says she wouldn’t rule out any other future appearances on reality TV shows if they came up.

“My mindset is if it looks like fun and something I’d enjoy or learn from, then life is too short to take myself seriously,” she says.

“I’ll always give something a go and the great thing about telly is that there’s all kinds of crazy stuff that people can ask you to do.”

And for now, Andrea is also enjoying being in her fifties. “I care less about what people think about me,” she says.

“I spent many years tied up in knots, thinking if I did everything well then everyone would like me.

Andrea McLean ‘hasn’t shut door’ on Loose Women return year on from quitting ITV show

Loose Women favourite Andrea McLean left in December 2020, after 13 years as a host, and on Monday she returned to the ITV series to discuss life after the series

Loose Women welcomed back Andrea McLean to the ITV show, for the first time since she quit the panel almost a year and a half ago.

Andrea returned to the set for the first time, this time as a guest and not on the panel, which she said felt “really nice” but “out of body”.

The host filmed her final episode in December 2020, and on Monday she returned to reveal all on her life post the show.

Speaking of the “brave” decision to try something new, Andrea told her former colleagues about her new book, and how departing her role with them became a “catalyst” for it.

She said: “At the time so many people were saying to me, ‘oh gosh, what a brave thing to do’, I mean also what a stupid thing to do, it’s the middle of a pandemic and you’re quitting your job to follow your dreams.

“At the time I felt like it was just something I needed to do. Now I look back and it was a brave decision, because I remember saying I needed to jump to see if I could fly.

“I didn’t know if I was gonna face plant or fly…. I’m so glad I did, I love what I do.”

Discussing her fourth book, she added: “I wanted to put a challenge together for the lovely women who joined me, to show them how to do brave things and move away from fear because I was still really scared.

“People thought I’m really brave, I’m not feeling fear but I am, so I put this 10-day challenge together. Ruth, I had no idea whether it was gonna work or not. I knew it worked for me but I didn’t know if it would work for anyone else.”

Andrea also spoke about her nervous breakdown which she suffered three years ago, and this is something she opened up about on Loose Women at the time.

Reflecting on this, she said: “That is what I love about this show, I was able to talk about it, and people reached out to me and I helped other people through that.

“I think I built a little tool kit up in that time, which felt really dark and horrible but what it made me do is realise that one, I never wanna go back to that place again, but also I need to stop looking for… someone else will fix me, I’ll feel better then. Actually you need to learn to fix yourself.”

Co-host Ruth Langsford also asked about a future TV return, and suggested she hadn’t ruled out a Loose Women comeback.

Ruth said to her: “You haven’t shut the door completely on TV or Loose Women…” to which Andrea replied: “Never!”

When it came to saying goodbye all over again, Ruth told her how they all missed her being on the show, with Andrea saying she would have to come back soon.

Loose Women share wedding disasters: X-rated dancefloor, groom arrested and ruined snaps

The Loose Women panel have opened up about they wedding day horror stories, with Frankie Bridge telling all about her ruined snaps and the mirrored dancefloor she regrets getting

The Loose Women have opened up about their wedding horror stories during a frank chat on Thursday’s instalment of the ITV daytime show.

Hosted by Jane Moore, panellists Frankie Bridge, Nadia Sawalha and Sunetra Sarker reminisced over their big days at the purple panel desk.

The Saturdays singer Frankie, 33, dove in to tell ITV viewers of her nuptials with former footballer Wayne Bridge in Bedfordshire seven years ago.

Frankie remembered how she “started welling up” moments before she walked down the aisle with her dad, saying: “I had this thing that I didn’t want to cry because I’d had all my make-up done.

“I knew if I looked at anyone I loved they were just going to set me off.”

But she said that her determination not to cry on the big day resulted in her walking down the aisle staring at the floor, adding: “So, I’ve got no nice pictures of my dad and I.”

Frankie continued: “Wayne was inconsolable the whole wedding. He could barely get his speech out and then he cried for weeks after as well.

“So, my message to anyone getting married is just cry. Wear waterproof make-up.”

She then added her final piece of advice: don’t get a mirrored dance floor for the big day, despite how good it might look.

Frankie explained: "Everyone else could not step on the dancefloor until they got drunk if they were wearing a dress.”
Frankie explained: “Everyone else could not step on the dancefloor until they got drunk if they were wearing a dress.”
Frankie said: “I did that because, aesthetically, it looked beautiful in the room, but I didn’t think about any of my guests.

“Obviously I had a long dress on, so it was fine. Everyone else could not step on the dancefloor until they got drunk if they were wearing a dress.”

Fellow panellist Nadia looked horrified and said: “Oh God, what a mistake,” as Frankie laughed it off, replying: “It looked great though. It was a talking point.”

Moving down the panel, Jane detailed her own wedding day horror story as she told her co-hosts how her husband Gary Farrow nearly missed the big day because he was arrested the night before.

“I would have had pre-wedding jitters if I’d known what would happen.”
“I would have had pre-wedding jitters if I’d known what would happen.”
The Loose Women panellist got hitched at London’s Claridges Hotel in 2002, with a star-studded guest list that included Jonathan Ross, Barbara Windsor and Frank Skinner, while Sir Elton John was Gary’s best man.

Jane said: “I would have had pre-wedding jitters if I’d known what would happen.”

The 59-year-old journalist explained how her husband had been “thrown in a police cell” the night before.

She explained: “He was at a hotel with his mates and there was a fire alarm and he wouldn’t leave the hotel until he knew everyone was alright – then he got lairy.”

Jane continued: “In the end they did let him out and he was put on this roundabout and had to ring his brother.

“He had to meet him with his wedding clothes and then he turned up and I said, ‘You look a right state’. I thought he was still drunk.”

Loose Women panel clash in heated class system debate – leaving viewers divided

Loose Women’s Carol McGiffin, Charlene White, Coleen Nolan and Linda Robson debated whether class in the UK still mattered, and things got a little heated

Loose Women’s Carol McGiffin and Charlene White clashed over their views on the UK class system during Tuesday’s episode, before Carol also got a little heated with Coleen Nolan.

While Linda Robson backed Carol’s thoughts, the panel, like viewers, were divided over what class really meant and if it mattered.

The quartet were debating this topic on the show on Tuesday, and things got a little awkward as the panellists disagreed with one another.

Coleen soon sided with Charlene as they both discussed instances where they or others were made to feel inferior to people of another class.

But as Coleen shared her own experiences of being looked down on, Carol repeated: “No,” as she didn’t agree that this was a thing.

As it began, Carol said of her opinion: “I’m really not bothered what class people are. I think it’s become more about money, I think people assume there’s a link between class and money.

“Which I don’t think there is because I think there are a hell of a lot of people who are upper class who are pretty skint and don’t have money. I think it’s what you’re born into.

“If you’re born into an upper class family or a traditional upper class family, then you are always upper class. It doesn’t matter, you could be homeless on the street, you will still be an upper class person.

“I believe because I was born into a proper working class family, it doesn’t matter where I am now or what I’m doing, I am still working class, I can’t shake that off, and I’m happy with that.”

As Charlene admitted she disagreed with her, she said: “I think in the last sort of 20, 30 years, the boundaries have become blurred where class is concerned.”

She added: “When you look at somebody who is working class by the definitions, there are lots of different definitions of it, they tend to involve a lot of manual labours, you’re looking at cleaners, you’re looking at bus drivers, mechanics, those sorts of jobs which come under the umbrella of working class for example.

“But it’s that middle class section that has changed most I think over the last few years, so you can be lower middle class which I do think is what you come into Carol. Then you’ve got the middle, middle class, and then you’ve got the upper middle class, which someone like Boris Johnson would come into…”

Carol then interrupted, saying: “What you’re saying is if you earn a lot of money and you change what you do for a living, you can become middle class.”

As Charlene replied: “Yes of course,” Carol told her: “No… that’s just social climbing,” as the pair spoke over each other.

Charlene then used the example of a self-made billionaire who came from a working class background, as she suggested there was “no way” they could still classify themselves as working class.

But Carol disagreed, saying: “Why not?” as Linda agreed: “It’s their background though, they’ve worked for that billion.”

ITV)Charlene went on: “They’ve worked for that billion, but if they’re a billionaire they do not have to work daily in any job they can find in order to pay their bills”

Things continued to get loud as Carol disagreed with this view along with Linda, while Coleen appeared to back Charlene.

Linda then added: “It doesn’t matter if I had a billion pounds, I’d still be working class,” causing Charlene to go on to repeat her point.

Charlene also made the point that it was also about “how other people treat you”, stating: “You could be working class walking into a room with a load of upper class, middle class people, who could make you feel like less than the dirt on the bottom of their shoe.”

Carol hit out at this though, shouting back: “But that would be you feeling that way, they wouldn’t make you feel like that. No, I don’t think so.”

Coleen then shared her thoughts, and said: “It still happens, I’ve walked in and because of the way I speak and where I come from, especially in the North, they have looked down on me and gone, ‘she’s a bit too common’.”

But Carol soon began shouting out and played down Coleen’s experiences, saying: “No, I don’t believe it.”

Coleen responded: “Well you should believe it because I’ve heard it.”

Viewers at home seemed just as divided on the subject, and more so on the differing opinions of the panel.

Taking to Twitter, many disagreed with Carol with one viewer saying: “@CharleneWhite giving #LooseWomen an education on working class, Carol is in denial and dismissive.”

Another agreed: “How could anyone define a billionaire as working class? You might have been one day, but once you’ve got loads of money, you’re most certainly not working class anymore.”

Others were in agreement with Carol though, as one viewer said: “Absolutely agree @McGiff that is exactly what working class is #spoton #LooseWomen.”

A second fan said: “I agree with Carole on the class thing,” while a third tweeted: “I totally agree with Carol just because you have money doesn’t mean your upper class that’s rubbish.”

Exclusive: Giovanni Pernice plots BBC Strictly Come Dancing return despite bombshell Amanda Abbington claims

The BBC have issued an apology to Amanda Abbington, after upholding a series of her bullying claims. Amanda is now expected to sue over her treatment

Giovanni Pernice has told pals he hopes to return to Strictly Come Dancing next year in spite of the findings of this week’s BBC report, sources say.

The long-awaited BBC report cleared the former star of violence, but issued an apology to Amanda Abbington after upholding a series of her bullying claims. Amanda is now expected to sue over her treatment.

But sources close to the pro dancer said he has not given up hope of returning to the Strictly stage next year despite signing up for the Italian version of the BBC show. Giovanni, 34, told friends he has only signed for one series of Ballando Con Le Stelle, and has “unfinished business” on the UK version.

One source said: “Giovanni has not given up on appearing on the Strictly stage. As far as he is concerned, he has been cleared and there is no reason why he couldn’t return. He has told his pals he is hoping to be back next year and is keen to speak to the BBC about it. He still feels very much part of the fold, and has a massive fan base who would no doubt welcome him back. But of course the final decision will be made by BBC bosses.” A spokesperson for Giovanni last night declined to comment.

Speaking in a bombshell interview on Newnight on Wednesday night, Amanda said she has “no regrets” about lodging complaints against Giovanni, despite receiving “hundreds” of death and rape threats. “It’s been one of the worst years of my life,” she shared on the BBC show. “I’ve been through a lot, women go through a lot, but it has been a very unpleasant, turbulent, relentless time in my life. I’ve had to deal with a myriad of horrible things.”

    Giovanni Pernice and Amanda Abbington
The actress didn’t enjoy her Strictly Come Dancing experience
The 50-year-old said that, in the last eight months, the number of threats she has received had “gone into the hundreds”. In August, the Metropolitan Police confirmed they were investigating after they were called to the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park to an alleged death threat sent to Amanda, who was starring in When It Happens To You.

“I had a credible death threat sent to my place of work, a theatre that I was working at, which was credible and the police had to be called,” the Sherlock actress told host Victoria Derbyshire. “I had a bomb threat sent to my place of work, threatening to blow the building up because I was pursuing this.I’ve had death threats sent to me, my family.

“I’ve had rape threats sent to my 15-year-old daughter, saying ‘I’m just laughing at the moment thinking about you having to watch your daughter get raped for what you’ve done to Giovanni Pernice’ They were every day I’d be getting those and I have screenshots that have been handed over to the Met Police.”

Amanda also revealed she is seeking daily legal advice amid the fallout from the Strictly Come Dancing bullying investigation. In her first public remarks since the investigation concluded, Amanda indicated she’s contemplating legal action. Discussing her current stance, Amanda told Newsnight host Victoria that she’s “taking guidance from my lawyer on a day to day basis”. Amanda shed light on the complexity of the situation: “There’s a 30-page report that me and my lawyers are still digesting. There are still things in there that are unresolved.”

A spokesman for Giovanni said: “It’s disappointing that Ms Abbington would knowingly mislead the outcome of the report in order to further attempt to damage Giovanni’s reputation. While Ms Abbington may not like the outcome of the six-month investigation, she should not seek to spread false and defamatory claims.” Giovanni has denied the allegations against him.

Denise Welch’s stalker scrawled ‘witch’ and ‘pimp’ on her gate after starting fire

Denise Welch’s stalker, Toraq Wyngard, was jailed for more than seven years on Thursday after leaving the Loose Women star ‘terrified’ after he started a fire in her driveway back in 2020

Denise Welch’s stalker scrawled the words “witch” and “pimp” along with an upside down cross on her front gate, just months after starting a fire in her driveway, a court heard on Thursday.

Toraq Wyngard, 64, was jailed for seven years and seven months on April 7, after the Coronation Street actress described the emotional toll the horrifying experience had on her.

“It has changed my life. I have a wonderful life and this man has permanently scarred it,” the Loose Women star told Chester Crown Court via video-link from America.

Gareth Bellis, prosecuting, said CCTV showed a man in a distinctive baseball cap looking around the property before appearing to pour an accelerant into the skip and set it alight.

Wyngard was later arrested nearby wearing the cap, covered in metallic pin badges, and police discovered a 4in (10cm) kitchen knife in his rucksack.

He claimed to be a press photographer and police found two cameras in his bag.

Officers also found a number of cameras, both normal and covert, and binoculars during a search of his home address.

CCTV showed Wyngard writing the graffiti and he was captured on CCTV at a nearby shop buying the pen.

Mr Bellis said: “These actions caused serious alarm and distress and had a substantial adverse affect on the Townleys and their day-to-day activities.”

Denise told the court: “This whole experience terrified me and continues to do so.”

Wyngard, of Cannon Street in Salford, Greater Manchester, pleaded guilty at a hearing last September to stalking, causing serious alarm or distress, between September 18 2020 and February 11 2021.

He also admitted charges of possession of a knife, criminal damage, and arson.

His sentencing was delayed after he later attempted to change his pleas, claiming he had been “pressured” into admitting the offences, the court heard.

His application to change his pleas was rejected but Louise Cowen, defending, said Wyngard maintained he was not guilty.

She said he suffered from bipolar affective disorder and had been failing to take his medication.

Sentencing Wyngard, Judge Michael Leeming said: “It is not clear to me, given your attitude to this case, your attempt to vacate your guilty pleas without any proper foundation, and your repeated, continued denials of any criminality, when the risk you pose to Mr and Mrs Townley might reduce to such an extent that the order is no longer required.”

He also made Wyngard subject to a restraining order, with conditions including not to enter Wilmslow.

Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha and Sunetra Sarker clash during heated period debate

Friday’s episode of Loose Women saw Nadia Sawalha share her delight at the news that Boots have decided to remove the signs ‘Feminine Hygiene’ from their stores later this year

Loose Women fans were not impressed with Sunetra Sarker as they tuned into Friday’s show.

The latest episode of the ITV show saw panelist Nadia Sawalha mention that Boots have announced they will be removing signs for ‘feminine hygiene’ from their stores.

“I’m really excited about this,” she said. “They are no longer going to call sanitary products ‘Feminine Hygiene’ and then later in the year, also in the aisles of the shop, it’s going to be called ‘Period Products’. Hallelujah!

“People have been campaigning for this

“Really? I disagree,” Sunetra quickly fired back, before adding: “I like it. Female Hygiene is for a lot of things which cover periods and everything to do with what I don’t want to actually tell everyone about all the time.

“If I’m with my son, say he’s aged 12 or 13, and I’m bringing him down the period aisle, I’m letting him know – which is maybe not something i would necessarily always want him to know.

“Also, I think there’s a girl code about talking about periods. We all talk about it but inviting that aisle to say ‘Period Aisle’ makes me feel a little bit outed,” she added.

“I’m so shocked!” Nadia replied. “Because if your son is in the period aisle, the period is like the very force of woman, the brilliance of us. Your son wouldn’t be here without your period!”

“I understand that, that’s not the problem, the problem is labelling it,” Sunetra responded as Nadia butted in saying: “No, telling the truth of what it is!”

“I might not want to share that information with everyone that’s watching me, and I think there’s still a stigma in me that likes knowing when it’s mine…” Sunetra then said as Nadia continue to look gobsmacked.

Viewers tuning in at home were not impressed with Sunetra’s comments and took to Twitter to comment.

One person posted: “this woman in green is making me angry #loosewomen no way should we feel embarrassed about it being called period products. shut up.”

A third viewer commented: “As a man, I am baffled by why women don’t want to mention periods. It’s actually annoying that they don’t tell you about it, I don’t want to be ignorant. Half the population have them, it’s normal, it’s not shameful or dirty or anything. #LooseWomen @loosewomen.”

Someone else posted: “It shouldn’t be feminine hygiene because nothing about your period is unhygienic, periods say exactly what it is, we shouldn’t ever be ashamed of having periods and we need to be inclusive of all those who bleed. #LooseWomen.”

Strictly fans spot recognisable face in audience and ask ‘Is it bring your husband to work day?’

After seeing Tess Daly’s husband in the Strictly audience at the TV studios in Hertfordshire last night, some fans complained about not being able to get tickets to watch the show

Strictly Come Dancing fans spotted a recognisable face among the audience during the BBC show on Saturday night, with one left wondering if it was “bring your husband to work day”.

Fans of the dance series saw Tess Daly’s husband Vernon Kay, 50, sitting in the first row at Elstree Film and Television Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, last night. A screenshot shared on X, formerly called Twitter, shows the BBC Radio 2 presenter, dressed in an all-white outfit paired with a light brown jacket, smiling as he looks at his wife Tess.

The Strictly presenter, 55, wore an elegant sparkly blue dress as she introduced the celebrities taking to the dance floor. Sharing an image that shows Vernon among members of the public, a person wrote on X: “Bring ur husband to work day I assume.”

Some people in the comment section said they had also spotted Vernon, with one writing: “Spotted him making faces as she talked.” Another commented: “He’s a proud husband.”

But some complained about Vernon being there, saying this contributes to members of the public not being able to get tickets to watch the show live. A person said: “I’ve never managed to get a ticket from series 1.” One more tweeted: “Glad he managed to get a ticket in the ballot.”

Two weeks ago, after the first Strictly live show, Tess was spotted with her eldest daughter as they headed home in a taxi. Tess, 55, looked in high spirits after receiving support from her daughter Phoebe, 19. The cherished TV star also has another daughter, Amber, born in 2004, whom she shares with her husband Vernon. The mum-of-two looked stunning in the red jumpsuit she wore for the show, while Phoebe looked chic in a white outfit.

On the show last night, Tess and co-presenter Claudia Winkleman addressed Nick Knowles’ sudden exit from the show. Telly favourite Nick, 62, was forced to pull out of the live show on Saturday after sustaining another injury. Nick and professional dancer partner Luba Mushtuk were due to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from the film Paddington 2 for the Movie Week special.

Nick had already suffered a shoulder injury that left him in a sling, just days after the first live show. But it was reported on Friday that the DIY SOS star fell and injured his knee during a dress rehearsal, and is now using crutches to walk. During the live episode on Saturday night hosts Tess and Claudia were quick to speak out about Nick’s absence.

Tess said: “As you can see, Nick Knowles and his partner Luba are not here. In rehearsals yesterday, Nick sustained an injury and is not able to perform tonight.” Claudia then said: “As per rules of the competition, he will receive a bye into next week’s show. Nick we are sending you love and wishing you a speedy recovery.”

Loose Women studio erupts as Kaye and Linda clash over Boris Johnson rule-breaking

The Loose Women studio erupted into heated debate on Thursday as Linda Robson defended Boris Johnson’s refusal to resign after the PM was slapped with a Partygate fine

The Loose Women studio erupted into heated debate over Boris Johnson’s refusal to resign after he was fined over a lockdown birthday bash in No10.

The PM apologised for the lockdown-breaching party, which was reportedly organised for him by his wife, and confirmed he had paid the fine after previously saying he had ‘followed the rules’.

Loose Women panelists Kaye Adams, Sunetra Sarker, Nadia Sawalha and Linda Robson turned to the topic at the beginning of Thursday’s instalment of the ITV daytime show.

Nadia immediately pushed back at fellow presenter Denise Welch’s comments on the previous day’s show that Boris Johnson should not have to resign as a result of the police fine.

Linda replied by stressing that the PM did not organise the party himself, adding: “He nearly died a couple of weeks before, he’d been in hospital with Covid. He made a mistake.”

Kaye was quick to respond as the atmosphere became tense, saying: “Linda, this is a man who’s a leader. Leader’s should lead. They should not make excuses for getting it wrong. Leaders should show an example, have integrity, do what they say.”

Linda replied: “They were meeting everyday to discuss what was going on in the country anyway,” to which Kaye quickly questioned: “Why do you want to make excuses?”

Linda continued, defensively, saying: “There’s nothing we can compare this to. Nothing like this has ever happened to us in all these years.”

Sunetra then weighed in, telling Linda: “That’s why it’s so serious. This has never happened to us before. Lockdown was brand new. So, it was that serious.”

Nadia added: “This has hurt a lot of people and for the Tories to keep telling us we’ve just got to get over it because it was two years ago is not on.”

After getting some stick from her co-stars, Linda replied saying that she “totally understands” that people lost loved ones during lockdown, but again returned to the fact that Boris Johnson had not organised the party himself.

She said: “They just brought in a cake for him and said happy birthday. It was the people around him that organised it.”

Nadia then said: “What do you think about all the times he stood in the Houses of Parliament and said no rules were broken? The rest of the world will look at our dishonest government and wonder how we put up with it. It’s embarrassing.”

Kaye quickly questioned: “Why do you want to make excuses?”
Kaye quickly questioned: “Why do you want to make excuses?”Linda replied: “He just went in for a meeting. He thought he was going to talk about what was going on in the country. He didn’t bring the cake, he didn’t organise the party.”

Linda then noted the PM has paid the £50 fixed penalty notice yesterday that was issued for a June 2020 birthday bash in his honour.

Sunetra then simmered down the heated conversation, saying: “We can’t pile this all on Linda. I get what you’re saying in some respects because the party itself sounds petty. But he’s been caught over and over again.”
