Inside Princess Beatrice’s tough pregnancy as she welcomes daughter prematurely

Princess Beatrice’s new daughter Athena is now at home with the rest of her family after it was announced today that she came into the world several weeks early

Princess Beatrice is now getting used to life with her newborn baby girl with the rest of her family.

The royal baby, called Athena, was welcomed into the world last week on January 22. Today Beatrice’s delighted husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi shared an adorable snap of the baby showing her dark hair, wearing a white long-sleeved garment, and wrapped in a pink blanket.

Beatrice just announced her pregnancy back in October and at the time, it was said that the baby would be due in the spring. However, it appears that the little girl has arrived several weeks prematurely at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, weighing 4lb 5oz.

It comes amid a seemingly tough few weeks for Beatrice as just a month ago before Christmas, it was thought that a pregnant Beatrice would not spend the festive season with the Royal Family as she would head abroad to spend time with Edoardo’s family. However, she ended up staying in the UK and ultimately spending Christmas with the royals at Sandringham after receiving medical advice not to travel long distances.

Doctors are said to have warned then that a premature arrival was a possibility. But despite Athena’s early arrival, she is now at home with her parents and getting to know sister Sienna, aged three, and big half-brother Wolfie. Her birth was announced earlier today by Buckingham Palace in a statement saying: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12.57pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

Beatrice’s husband Edoardo posted a tribute to his new daughter, calling her “tiny and absolutely perfect”. He wrote on Instagram sharing a photograph of Athena wrapped in a blanket: “Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. We welcomed baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena.

“A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time.” Beatrice’s sister Eugenie also celebrated the new arrival by posting “Welcome Baby Girl” and sharing Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s photograph of baby Athena wrapped in a pink blanket on her Instagram Stories.

The child is also the 14th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and the second to be born since her death in 2022, following the arrival of Eugenie’s second child Ernest in 2023.

And although the new baby will not get a title from the King, the baby will get a unique title thanks to Edo, who is actually an Italian count. Speaking to the Daily Mail previously Edoardo’s dad, Count Allessandro Mapelli Mozzi, explained: “Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation. He is a count, his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”

Sweet meaning behind Princess Beatrice’s baby name and cute nod to bond with Prince Philip

Princess Beatrice has given birth to her second child, opting for a unique name that strays away from royal tradition. She and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are now enjoying their new family at home following the early arrival

Princess Beatrice has given birth to her second daughter – and given the little girl an adorable name.

The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, 36, and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 40, sweetly named their newborn Athena. And while the moniker isn’t a traditional name in the Royal Family, it has a deeper meaning for the couple.

The name is rich in history, making it a fitting choice for the pair’s newest addition to their family. In Greek mythology, Athena is the goddess of wisdom, courage, and inspiration.

She is a symbol of strength, intelligence, and independence – qualities that no doubt resonate with the values Princess Beatrice hopes to pass on to her daughter. Known for her role as a protector and guide, Athena was a notable figure in ancient Greece, often associated with the city of Athens.

Prince Philip also had Greek relatives, having been born in Greece, and Beatrice was known for her close bond with her grandparents. The name could also reflect Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s Italian roots, stepping away from traditional British names.

This isn’t the first time Princess Beatrice has taken a different approach to picking her children’s names. In 2021, the couple named their first child Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi – a name that paid tribute to Beatrice’s beloved late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Sienna could also be associated with her mother’s name Sarah, with the pair sharing the same initials. This could lead to speculation that Athena could also be a nod to her father, Andrew.

It is understood Beatrice and her week-old daughter are healthy and doing well despite the baby’s early arrival, and both have left hospital and are at home. She was due to give birth in early spring and in December received medical advice and was told by doctors not to travel long distances.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12.57pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

“The baby was born weighing four pounds and five ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.”

Beatrice’s sister Eugenie also celebrated the new arrival by posting “Welcome Baby Girl” and sharing Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s photograph of baby Athena wrapped in a pink blanket on her Instagram Stories.

Sarah Ferguson shares joy on Princess Beatrice’s baby news with sweet joke

Sarah Ferguson is celebrating the arrival of her fourth grandchild following the news that Princess Beatrice has welcomed her second baby, a little girl named Athena

Proud grandma Fergie has joked about her 5-a-side team of grandchildren after daughter Princess Beatrice welcomed her second child.

It was announced today that Beatrice, 36 and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 40, have welcomed a baby girl called Athena. She arrived several weeks early, and is a little sister for the couple’s three-year-old daughter Sienna, and Edoardo’s son, eight-year-old Wolfie. Athena is Fergie and Prince Andrew’s fourth grandchild and joins Wolfie, Edo’s son.

Once the happy news was confirmed, joyful Sarah shared a sweet post on Instagram in celebration. Alongside a photo of the newborn, she wrote: “Overflowing with love and joy to be able to welcome Athena Elizabeth Rose into the world. She is already so adored and I’m incredibly blessed to be a Granny once again. So proud of Edo, Beatrice and the rest of my little 5-a-side team!”

Sarah wasn’t the only one to share a touching message. New dad Edoardo posted a tribute to his second daughter, calling her “tiny and absolutely perfect”. He shared a photograph of Athena wrapped in a blanket, and wrote: “Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. We welcomed baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. Beatrice’s sister Eugenie also celebrated the new arrival by posting: “Welcome Baby Girl” and sharing Edoardo’s photograph of baby Athena wrapped in a pink blanket on her Instagram Stories.

A statement from Buckingham Palace, meanwhile, read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12.57pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

“The baby was born weighing four pounds and five ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.”

Athena, who will not be an HRH, is born 11th in line to the throne, with Beatrice’s younger sister Princess Eugenie moving down to 12th place.

Beatrice announced her pregnancy back in October with two adorable family snaps. The first showed a blonde-haired Sienna from behind as she walked along a country lane, holding hands in the middle of her father and big brother Wolfie. In another picture, an overjoyed Beatrice – wearing a black puffer jacket – smiled at the camera, while being embraced by Edoardo, who was gazing at his wife. Beatrice is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah, and the new baby will be the Yorks’ fourth grandchild.

  • Prince William surprises farmer with down-to earth observation

Prince William surprises farmer with down-to earth observation

The future King donned his flat cap and headed off to Lower Blakemere Farm in Hereford, where he spent some time with Phil and Heather Gorringe and their son Monty

Prince William was in his element as enjoyed a very rural royal outing this week.

The future king – who, like Princess Kate, has a known love of the outdoors – headed to Lower Blakemere Farm in Hereford, where he met with Phil and Heather Gorringe along with their son, Monty. And he made quite an impression on the family.

Heather has opened up about William’s down-to-earth visit, which saw him shown a new grain store and some regenerative farming equipment at work, before joining the Gorringes on a walk around the farm – which stands on Duchy of Cornwall land – to check out their composting projects.

Heather told People: “He’s such a nice guy, isn’t he? He seems really down to earth — and miles taller than I ever imagined. And he loved the worms, so that was really great.”

The worms in question were a part of the ‘Wiggly Wigglers wormery’, which was created by Heather for their domestic waste. William appeared fascinated by the construction.

“Wormery? Is that a technical term?” he asked his hostess. “Oh my goodness, look at that,” he further marvelled at the household waste and the dark material it created. “It’s like black gold,” Heather told him.

Despite his position as the future king, William is universally praised for his down-to-earth nature. Just recently he stunned onlookers when he stopped off at a Wetherspoons pub in Binrmingham to enjoy a pint with fellow Aston Villa fans.

One fan, Steve Jones, 56, said of the Prince: “He was fantastic. I was quite amazed about how engaged he was with the club and his interest. He’s not a fair weather fan. He really loves the club with a passion. We spoke about the club, the transfers, the pending Champions League trip to Monaco, and all things Aston Villa. He asked many questions, he’s got a good level of interest.”

Steve continued: “It was 95 per cent chat about Villa as that’s our shared interest but a bit about his family. Young George is a Villa fan but he didn’t want all three to be Villa fans. He was massively interested and seemed a really genuine guy and all he wanted to do is talk about Villa.”

According to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, the low-key outings are all part of William’s plan for a more down-to-earth royal approach .

She told the Mirror : “For a while now, William has been putting into action the way that he intends to do the job. And that, as he now made clear, is royal with a small r. You could say that the small ‘r’ also stands for relatable, because that is what he is showing himself to be.

Jennie continued: “I think he gets quite a kick out of surprising people – by taking calls in a restaurant, serving people from burger stalls or dropping into a pub to buy a round of drinks. I think William finds it refreshing to be able to interact without all the fuss that generally goes with a royal visit. And I’m sure he also realises that in PR terms, it is extremely effective. It’s important for the Royal Family to be in touch as much as possible with the way ordinary people feel.”

  • Prince Harry made ‘naïve’ move that ‘got him exiled from Royal Family’

Prince Harry made ‘naïve’ move that ‘got him exiled from Royal Family’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior royals in January 2020 – and one subsequent move by Harry has led to his ‘exile’ from The Firm, an expert has said

It’s been five years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit royal life.

The couple have gone on to set up a new life together in the States – but their relationship with the Firm has been left in tatters.

Having stepped down, the Sussexes levelled a number of criticisms at members of the monarchy – in their Oprah interview, their Netflix series, and in Spare. As such, a huge gulf has developed, and the couple are said to have been ‘cut off’ by prominent royals, including Prince William.

Now an expert has deemed Harry as “naïve” for not realising that publicly attacking the Royal Family would lead to his “exile”.

Speaking to Fox News Digital , British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard said: “A self-assured, self-titled, angry Prince Harry thought it was completely OK to publicly verbally annihilate his family.

“It is said he was naïve and didn’t realise it would upset his family… He didn’t realise that his actions would cause such a fallout with his family and the public.”

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams also spoke to the publication about the Duke, adding: “[Prince] Harry is in exile – [but] he chose it. It’s lonely, and he will undoubtedly miss his friends and family.

“There is no sign whatsoever of the rift in the royal family healing. King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales have, to put it mildly, other priorities.”

Harry has spoken in the past about the possibility of reconciling with his family. But, according to former BBC royal expert Jennie Bond, the tables have turned on the Duke. She previously told Times Radio that, in her opinion, while Harry was initially the one who pushed the royals away, the opposite is now true.

“Early on it was Harry, who was demanding an apology. There was going to be no meeting of minds or meeting in reality until there was an apology for the affronts he thought had been made to his wife. But now I think the tables have turned somewhat. Messages coming from Harry’s side are that he’s ready at least to forgive and that he loves his family. He’s said that quite publicly. He wants to see more of them.

“But it is Charles and William who seem to be resisting reconciliation at this point so I think it was first one, then the other.”

It’s thought that the final straw for William was Harry’s criticism of Princess Kate. According to The Sunday Times , the Prince of Wales is ‘unlikely to forgive Harry anytime soon’ because he simply can’t get past the comments Harry made about his wife.

“William is unlikely to forgive Harry any time soon for his slights against Kate in Spare, among them the suggestion she was cold towards Meghan. Those close to William say his brother rarely comes up in conversation.”

  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle planning to pass on key duty to Archie and Lilibet

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle planning to pass on key duty to Archie and Lilibet

A new report has claimed that there is one aspect of their charitable work above all else that Meghan and Harry want their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to continue when they are grown up

There is one major project that Prince Harry, 40, has been working on for years that he reportedly hopes his children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, will take over one day.

He and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, 43, both share the desire that their children will pick up this important part of their legacy when the time comes the new report claimed.

The project is none other than the Invictus Games, which Harry launched back in 2014. The Invictus Games see injured service-people compete at an elite level in a variety of sporting activities and Harry has continued to work on the charitable endeavour since stepping back as a working royal in 2020.

The games were also the subject of a documentary Harry and Meghan produced as part of their multi-year deal with streaming giant Netflix, and the series Heart of Invictus followed competitors readying themselves to take part in the games.

The report in The Express saw an insider source claim that Meghan will be joining Harry at the upcoming winter Invictus Games in Vancouver – where the couple spent time before deciding to leave life as full-time working royals behind for good – from 8 February to 16 February.

“It was important for the Sussexes to appear together at such a worthwhile event,” the source told the outlet, adding that one day Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will one day continue their parent’s work with injured veterans. “The Invictus Games is a Sussex initiative and something they want their children to continue once they get older.”

In his memoir Spare, Harry explained that the idea for the Invictus Games was inspired after a visit to the US had taken him to the Warrior Games – a similar initiative for wounded former service-people when he witnessed the healing power sport had for the veterans to deal with the wounds they had suffered during their service.

On the way home he considered making something of a bigger scale that could draw a lot of attention to the cause and began working on the project – although it was a long road to making it a reality.

“I realised how badly I wanted this,” Harry wrote when he described the day he pitched it to the Royal Foundation’s Board, “For the soldiers and their families, and if I’m being honest: for myself.”

Once Harry had secured the funding for the project, he enlisted the help of Sir Keith Mills who had helped organise the London 2012 Olympics.

Together they pulled together the first Invictus Games in London in 2014, in line with the 100-year anniversary of the First World War and it was a total “hit”.

“I knew Invictus would do some good in the world,” Harry wrote of the first games.

“I always knew, but I was caught off guard by [the] wave of appreciation and gratitude. And Joy,” that he witnessed from the participants and their families about what a difference the games had made in their lives.

  • Hidden ‘other side’ of Princess Diana set to be uncovered in new 90-minute movie

Hidden ‘other side’ of Princess Diana set to be uncovered in new 90-minute movie

It’s been more than 25 years since Princess Diana passed away, but her legacy continues.

William and Harry’s late mother remains a global icon, and as such, much has been written about her short life. Now though, a new film promises to reveal a “secret side” to the Princess.

The 90-minute movie is an adaptation of Anne Allan’s book, Dancing With Diana; A Memoir, which was released back in September 2024. Anne worked as Diana’s private dance teacher and, over the course of hundreds of weekly one-hour lessons, forged a close friendship with the royal.

The new documentary will chronicle the nine-year period Anne spent with Diana, from early 1981, around the time Diana wed the then-Prince Charles. Anne, who lives in Toronto, Canada, spoke to People about their special bond: “During my time with the princess, I was so fortunate to witness not only Diana’s profound love of dance, but a much more personal side of her. I hope that viewers of the documentary will appreciate this fresh look as well as discover a deeper understanding of just how extraordinary she was.”

The former teacher also revealed her reason for writing her book – she did so “partly for her four-year-old granddaughter” and to also share “the other side of [Diana], the dancing side of her, the beauty within her”.

Anne continued: “She loved to dance. The minute she started to move her arms, you could see the feeling that it brought her. She was able to be herself. She loved to move and loved to have fun.”

The dance classes also offered Diana a safe space to share both her joys and her sorrows. “If something was on her mind, she would say so,” she recalled. “Later on, there were days where she would come in and just talk a little bit.”

The documentary film is being made by Canadian company Sphere Media, and Two Rivers Media, which is based in Anne’s hometown of Glasgow, Scotland.

Marlo Miazga, president of Sphere Media, said in a statement, “It’s a rare thing to find a fresh angle on such an adored and explored public figure, but Anne’s memoir is a treasure trove of new perspectives and intimate insights into one of the most scrutinised women in history.”

Alan Clements, managing director and executive producer of Two Rivers, added, “Diana’s story is, of course, as enduring as it is poignant. The gems to be found in these memoirs represent a perfect and organic opportunity, and we’re very excited to take it.”

Princess Diana had a special affinity for ballet – much like her granddaughter Princess Charlotte has now. In fact, Diana enjoyed the practice so much that during her childhood, she aspired to be a professional ballerina, but was rejected due to being too tall.

  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to ‘make major pivot and hand over reigns of brand’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to ‘make major pivot and hand over reigns of brand’

After a scathing Vanity Fair article, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly set to make a major pivot from their previous PR strategy and ‘hand over the reigns of their brand’ a report has claimed

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry are poised to make a major pivot in their PR strategy, a new report has claimed.

The change in approach comes after new allegations emerged that some of Meghan’s employees found her a challenging boss to work with, allegations that the couple were said to have found “distressing”.

One employee was reported by Vanity Fair to have undertaken “long-term therapy” after their time working with the Duchess, with others taking “extended breaks” after the experience.

These claims came only months after other allegations about Meghan “bullying” staff were published in the Hollywood Reporter, which included allegations that she had made “grown men” cry and acted like a “dictator”.

After months of mostly solo appearances and working separately the Sussexes are poised to take a new approach and hand over “the reigns” of their PR strategy to an expert, The Express has reported.

The couple has reportedly employed PR firm Three Gate Strategies – run by their former Head of Communications, Ashley Henson – who will take care of their public branding.

“There will be a renewed focus on the Sussexes as a couple, as a brand, and showcasing them as a couple and family,” an insider explained to the outlet.

“The Sussexes have decided to step back a little and let Ashley take the reins on their PR plan.”

The extensive damning allegations published in Vanity Fair did not paint an entirely clear picture of Meghan’s management style, however, with some former employees noting that their experience of working with the Duchess had been very positive.

Ashley Hansen, the couple’s new PR guru, previously spoke on the record about her experiences working with the couple as their Head of Communications to US Weekly.

When Ashley had to have major surgery, she said Meghan and Harry went above and beyond to support her

“When I told them, I was met with the kind of concern and care a parent would express if it were their own child,” she told the magazine, adding: “I was asked what I needed, how and if they could help, and told to take as much time as I needed.”

The PR expert added that they also sent her thoughtful gifts when she was unwell, “but most profoundly to me, Meghan would personally reach out to my husband daily to make sure that we both were OK and had support…it meant so much to him and even more to me. You don’t realize how much that kind of kindness and thought means until you need it.”

This Morning stars in ‘nasty’ clash on-air as fans say the same thing

This Morning viewers were quick to pick up on the tension between contributors Ashley James and Camilla Tominey, as the pair clashed on the ITV daytime show on Wednesday

This Morning watchers were left gobsmacked as Ashley James and Camilla Tominey were embroiled in a series of fiery exchanges live on the air. Gracing the screens on Wednesday (January 29), the pair joined hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley to discuss the day’s biggest stories, but it wasn’t long before the sparks began to fly.

The two guests began butting heads, with viewers immediately sensing the frosty atmosphere. Rushing to Twitter to voice their reactions, one viewer exclaimed: “These 2 women don’t like each other do they.”

Another sharply critiqued Camilla Tominey’s manner towards the ex-Made in Chelsea favourite: “@CamillaTominey yet again being exceedingly rude and patronising to Ashley James.”

Viewers felt as though Camilla Tominey had been patronising to fellow contributor Ashley James
Viewers felt as though Camilla Tominey had been patronising to fellow contributor Ashley James
The clashes seemed to be a source of entertainment for some, with a spectator commenting: “I have got my popcorn ready for round two between Ashley and Camilla. These women will definitely fight this morning.”

Curious about the origins of the dispute, another tweeted: “What’s this beef between these two today on #thismorning first time during news review both guests have clashed so much,” reports the Express.

Some found the tension uncomfortable, as reflected in a tweet: “Well watching that was awkward, Camilla was quite nasty in my opinion, Ashley was embarrassed and couldn’t get a word in, not nice to watch in the morning.”

The sentiment was echoed by another, who remarked on the abrupt end to the segment: “This morning had to end this segment abruptly because i think they were sensing that it was getting ugly between Ashley and Camilla. Can we have the two women again tomorrow? I enjoyed the aggressiveness between them, it was awkward though.”

Ashley James is a regular on ITV’s This Morning, with the TV presenter often stopping by to take part in debates. Last year, she slammed one guest as “dangerous” as they spoke about the return of Loaded magazine. Executive Editor of the magazine, Danni Levy, argued that men are “not allowed to be unapologetic straight men” anymore with male suicide accounting for the highest death rate amongst men under 50 in the UK, to which Ashley fired back: “It’s very interesting that you rightly bring up the male suicide rate, I don’t think men are committing suicide because they can’t ogle women and be men.

“Men are, disproportionately committing suicide because of toxic masculinity, which puts men in a box and says: ‘Men can’t discuss feelings, men can’t be open about feelings.’ Men have to be men in the stereotypical ways that you say, of course a man is allowed to say that a woman is attractive in the same way that a woman is allowed to say that a man is attractive.”

She added: “But when you say that men are red blooded and they need to be men and by that you’re saying they should be allowed to look at women in a certain way and you’re insinuating that because equality has progressed and feminism has progressed, and in a way that now men can’t ogle women. I think it’s a really disappointing and quite dangerous thing to say.”

Wynne Evans axed from Strictly tour after vile sexual comment to co-star

Opera singer and GoCompare advert star Wynne Evans was filmed making a vile sexual remark about his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars while kicking off the UK tour

Wynne Evans has sensationally been axed from the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour.

It comes after a video emerged of him making a vile sexual remark at his co-star while at the launch of the tour in Birmingham. Evans had apologised for the comment, yet he has since reportedly been axed from the show.

Evans was recorded making an inappropriate sexual comment to Janette Manrara, who acts as host on the tour, when she walked over to the group. He sang out: “Go Compare,” before adding: “Not too close to Jamie [Borthwick].” He then used the hugely demeaning term “spit roast” in reference to a lewd sexual act.

In a statement, Evans told the Mirror: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise.” He was seen with the tour cast as they turned up to Liverpool after having to pull out of the Glasgow shows due to an injury. However, it has been reported he will be out of the tour.

A source told the Sun: “He’s had repeated warnings about his behaviour and told to rein it in. He’s not been taking it in, in this day and age the BBC have to be seen taking action and safegaurad everyone. He’s had a tough time with the death of his brother and people should give him some slack, he is going to take this time off to do some self reflection.

“He has a lot of support from a lot of the backstage dancers. It’s been a really sad ending to what has been a really fun tour.” Bosses were reportedly satisfied with Evans’ apology, yet it appears it wasn’t enough to save him. “As soon as they were alerted to the remarks, tour producers called a meeting with Wynne,” a tour insider previously told the publication.

“He was very apologetic and fully agreed that what he said was inappropriate and unacceptable. He was given a warning and told in no uncertain terms that that kind of language is not tolerated.” They claimed Evans was “visibly upset” and “full of remorse” when backstage in Glasgow.

The source added that Evans likes to crack a joke and “on this occasion he just didn’t think and overstepped the mark”. He is reportedly receiving mental health support. It is not the first time Evans has come under fire for his behaviour. During the BBC show, Evans was slammed as he appeared to inappropriately touch his professional dance partner Katya Jones live on TV. Amid backlash, the pair claimed it was an “inside joke” and Katya defended Evans.

Evans had also found himself at the centre of drama after a “vulgar” joke he reportedly made behind-the-scenes was “leaked”. The opera singer claimed his double chin resembled a vagina as he got his make-up done backstage. Sources speaking to The Mirror claimed: “It was a bit of a vulgar dad joke.”

The source added: “Wynne clearly didn’t mean any offence, but you have to be a little bit careful these days.” A source close to Wynne said the joke was self-deprecating and made in a private conversation with a make-up artist. At least one other person was in the room, and the source claimed that the make-up artist was not offended.

Following the incident on tour, the BBC revealed that they had warned Evans about his behaviour. A spokesperson for the Strictly Live Tour and BBC Studios said: “We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour.”

He is also taking time off from his radio show while on tour. A spokesperson for BBC Wales said: “Wynne is taking some time off from his show on Radio Wales. Robin Morgan will be presenting in his place.” Evans typically hosts a weekday morning music and chat radio on the station, but broadcaster Robin sat in for him on Monday during the 9am to midday slot.
