Prince Harry touched down in the UK over the weekend ahead of the WellChild awards this evening.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, remains patron of the UK charity and it is one of the few private patronages he held onto after stepping down as a senior royal in 2020.

The WellChild awards celebrate the inspiring qualities of some of the country’s seriously ill young people and the dedication of those who keep them healthy and happy, including health, social care and education professionals.

Harry’s stay is only expected to be fleeting, as this is his only event in the UK.

Questions have been raised over whether the duke will meet up with any of his family while he’s back on home soil – but it’s not looking hopeful for Harry, who has made no secret of his desire to reconcile.

Sources have suggested Prince William will not clear time in his diary to see his brother, as the heir is focused on his own work and his family.

Harry and William are not understood to have spoken for some time, and are not thought to have talked when they attended a family funeral in the UK last month.

But insiders have been slightly more optimistic about a reunion between father and son, as the King is more open to a reconciliation with his youngest son.

However, the timing of Harry’s visit may prove to be a huge barrier to a meeting, as the King is some 500 miles away at Balmoral Castle having attended the 25th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament on Saturday.

He will be travelling back to the capital this week, but it is expected to be after the duke has jetted off to Lesotho, Africa to drive forward his work with the charity Sentebale.

Harry’s last public visit to the UK fell in May, and his team briefed that the King was “too busy” to make time to see his son while he was in London.

This was despite the father-and-son being just several miles away, as Harry held an Invictus Games event at St Paul’s Cathedral and the King hosted the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace.

But the pair did spend some time together in February after the King’s cancer diagnosis was made public.

Harry rushed over to London to see his father, and they met for about 40 minutes in what was seen as an optimistic sign their relationship was moving forward.

Today, the Duke will attend a reception to meet the category winners and their families before the main event where he will present the Most Inspirational Child (aged four to six) award and deliver a short speech.

Harry regularly attends the annual event, hosted by WellChild, the national charity which provides a nationwide network of nurses, home makeover projects and family support programmes.

Last year the event fell on the eve of the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death and Harry paid tribute to his late grandmother in his speech.

The Duke of Sussex will not be flying back to see his wife Meghan Markle after his latest visit to the UK, with Harry instead set to head out on another trip alone.

Prince Harry will not return home to Meghan Markle in California after visiting the UK today to attend the WellChild 2024 awards.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, has been away from his wife and two children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, on a series of solo engagements this month, and this is set to continue into early October.

After his brief two-day visit to the UK, Harry will not be flying home to Meghan, 43, and instead will travel to Lesotho in Africa to promote the work of Sentebale, the charity he co-founded with Prince Seeiso to help young people in need.

On this solo engagement, Harry will join business leaders, philanthropists and locals to promote the work of the charity, which was inspired by the work of Harry’s late mother Princess Diana.

Lesotho’s Prince Seeiso, who co-founded Sentebale with Harry nearly 20 years ago, said it would fill the community with “joy” to welcome back “Mohale” – Harry’s Sesotho royal name, which means “warrior”.

Prince Harry had previously said in a statement: “As we head towards our 20th anniversary, our ambition has grown, giving us the confidence to bring our skills and experience in designing solutions with young people, and to leveraging our convening power to engage with leading regional players and global funders so we can add Sentebale’s voice to addressing the challenges faced by the next generation in southern Africa.”

Sentebale chairwoman Dr Sophie Chandauka said: “The Duke’s return to southern Africa… marks a milestone as we collaborate with world-class organisations and local leadership to engage this critical youth cohort.

“Together, we aim to accelerate digital and economic inclusion, addressing the low levels of access and literacy, which are crucial for young people’s participation in the global economy and for achieving Sentebale’s goals in health, wealth creation and climate resilience.”

The solo engagement in Africa will be the third place Harry has visited without Meghan over the last month.

The Duke of Sussex then jetted to the UK on Sunday ahead of his attendance at the WellChild Awards today (September 30).

Harry has not met up with any members of the Royal Family during the recent UK visit and is unlikely to see any members of his family before leaving the country again.

EXCLUSIVE: Prince Harry is briefly back in the UK to attend an awards ceremony for the charity WellChild, of which he is a patron.

Prince Harry has adopted his brother Prince William’s “signature pose” after he touched down in the UK, a body language expert has exclusively told Express.co.uk.

The Duke of Sussex has been pictured in London without his wife Meghan Markle, 43, while attending an awards ceremony for the charity Wellchild, which aims to help seriously ill children and their families access the support they need.

Despite no longer being a working member of the Royal Family, the prince remains a patron of the charity and attended the ceremony this year in person.

Body language expert Judi James said Harry appears to be full of “happiness” at the ceremony as he gives off a “royal demeanour”.

Judi exclusively told Express.co.uk: “This is a very royal-looking appearance from Harry, whose body language use of pace, energy, and relaxed-looking charm makes him appear delighted to be back in the UK, even for a fleeting visit.”

She continued: “He walks in with a keen smile, smoothing his tie with one hand before offering some firm handshakes, leaning forward to suggest an enthusiasm to meet and engage with his hosts.

“His smile in the official photo reaches both his mouth and his eyes, making it look like a congruent expression of authentic happiness.”

The body language expert also told Express.co.uk that Harry has developed a similar pose to the one used by his brother Prince William at royal engagements.

Judi continued: “And one last royal touch: as he poses in the line-up he adopts a signature pose of his brother William, standing with his hands clasped in front of his torso in the fig-leaf position.

“It would be clutching at some very, very flimsy straws to suggest this might be a sign of any thawing between the brothers but as a subliminal signal, this mirroring plus his regal demeanour could suggest he’s not unhappy to be back in his princely role again.”

The UK visit comes after Prince Harry’s recent solo engagements in New York City, which saw the prince leave his home in California just days after his 40th birthday celebrations.

Queen Camilla is ‘discouraging’ Prince Harry and King Charles meeting in London – expert

Prince Harry is in the UK today where he will appear at the WellChild awards ceremony in London – but it is unclear if he will meet up with King Charles and Queen Camilla during his trip to his homeland

Prince Harry is due in the UK for a rare visit where he will honour the achievements of seriously ill youngsters and their families.

But as with his other recent trips back to his homeland, attention has turned to whether he will meet up with his father King Charles during his time back in the UK. Harry is due to attend the WellChild awards ceremony in London tonight in his role as the charity’s patron, a position he has held for more than 15 years.

There has been speculation about whether Harry will make a trip to Scotland to spend time with his father the King, who is undergoing cancer treatment. When Harry last visited the UK in May for a service at St Paul’s Cathedral for the Invictus Games, the father and son failed to meet.

There has been tension in their relationship, especially since Harry released his controversial memoir Spare and his bombshell Netflix series with wife Meghan Markle, where they railed against their royal relatives.

And according to one royal expert, one royal keen for them not to meet up is the King’s wife and Harry’s stepmother, Queen Camilla. Writing in the Sunday Times, the Daily Beast royal editor Tom Sykes said: “Neither side would definitively tell me whether a meeting is planned on this trip, but all the indications so far are that it is not. The King is in Scotland, gathering his strength for a forthcoming trip to Australia. The Queen, her friends have told me, is keen that Charles doesn’t get unnecessarily stressed out and is not encouraging a meeting.”

“For Harry, there can be no meaningful rehabilitation as a royal without reconciliation. His father’s recent health scare has added a sense of urgency to that quest.”

The King is believed to be spending time at his Balmoral home and it is thought he has not seen Harry since the duke rushed to his father’s side after Charles’s cancer diagnosis was announced in February.

The WellChild Awards celebrate the inspiring qualities of some of the country’s seriously ill young people and the dedication of those who keep them healthy and happy, including health, social care and education professionals. Harry regularly attends the annual event hosted by WellChild, the national charity which provides a nationwide network of nurses, home makeover projects and family support programmes.

Before the big event, the duke will attend a reception to meet the category winners and their families before joining guests for the private awards ceremony where he will present the Most Inspirational Child (aged four to six) award and deliver a short speech.

Last week, it was also confirmed that Harry will be in Southern Africa early next month as part of a visit for his charity Sentebale, which he co-founded in 2006. It will be his first trip to the region since 2019 – and it appears to be a solo visit with no mention so far of wife Meghan Markle joining him.

The trip will see him gather world business leaders and philanthropists to work towards fostering prosperity in Southern African communities, specifically focused on young people. His Sentebale charity, which he co-founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006, will bring together leaders from Google ’s charitable arm and several other companies and organisations for a series of meetings and discussions in Lesotho and Johannesburg, South Africa.

Prince Harry heading to UK without Meghan Markle for series of solo engagements

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, will today attend the WellChild awards ceremony in London in his role as the charity’s patron, a position he has held for more than 15 years

Prince Harry will today carry out a number of solo engagements back in the UK – without Meghan Markle – but it’s unclear if he will visit his family.

Duke of Sussex, 40, is to celebrate the achievements and resilience of seriously ill youngsters and their families during the rare UK visit. He will attend the WellChild awards ceremony in London in his role as the charity’s patron, a position he has held for more than 15 years.

And the visit has raised speculation whether Harry and his estranged brother, Prince William, the Prince of Wales will see each other, or if the duke will make a trip to Scotland to spend time with his father the King. It is believed Charles is currently spending time at his Balmoral home.

Harry’s rare visit, again without 43-year-old Meghan, comes as he continues his legal battle against the UK Home Office as he launches an appeal against a High Court ruling dismissing his challenge over a decision to change the level of his personal security when he visits the UK by a Court of Appeal judge. Harry first began the action after the Home Office, the ministry responsible for policing, in February 2020 cut off his right to automatic personal police security while in the UK.

But it is thought he will have some security – either via the police or his private team – at the WellChild awards ceremony at the Hurlingham Club near Fulham, west London, today.

The WellChild awards celebrate the inspiring qualities of some of the country’s seriously ill young people and the dedication of those who keep them healthy and happy, including health, social care and education professionals.

Prince Harry will return to the UK alone to attend an award ceremony in London this evening, but do you think Meghan Markle should have joined him?

The Duke of Sussex is scheduled to attend the annual WellChild Awards, which celebrates the achievements and resilience of seriously ill youngsters and their families. Harry has been a patron for the charity for more than 15 years, and is expected to present the Most Inspirational Child (aged four to six) award and deliver a short speech.

In a statement, Harry shared: “I am once again honoured to attend this year’s WellChild Awards celebrating the remarkable courage and achievements of children living with complex medical needs. These incredible young people, along with the dedicated caregivers, nurses, and professionals who tirelessly support them, inspire us all. It is a true privilege to recognise such extraordinary individuals.”

While the Duchess of Sussex accompanied Harry to the 2019 WellChild awards, it has been reported that Meghan will remain in the US with the couple’s two children this year. Meghan has not returned to the UK since the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022, despite Harry making multiple trips to his home country alone.

Most recently, the Duke attended the funeral of his uncle Lord Robert Fellowes, where it’s understood he and Prince William didn’t talk after the service, despite virtually standing ‘back-to-back’. Royal author and expert Tom Quinn told the Mirror last month that Meghan will only return to the UK under one ‘major condition’.

He said: “Meghan has said she’s only prepared to return to England if she and Harry have a place of their own and the security they both feel is essential. Meghan will never return to the UK and stay with her husband‘s relatives. If the couple manage to find a permanent home and sort out the security issue they will certainly want to bring their children to the UK but it’s going to take a lot of diplomacy to get to the point where Archie and Lili are able to develop a genuine and warm relationship with their cousins George, Charlotte and Louis.”

Harry, 40, has previously expressed concerns over secrity when it comes to his young family, and, in an interview with ITV , stated that he couldn’t “bring [his] wife back to this country” due to fears over safety. Prince Harry attended the poignant WellChild Awards in London tonight where he met inspirational children being recognised by the charity – and while meeting one little boy, he revealed a sweet detail about daughter Princess Lilibet

Prince Harry shared a rare detail about daughter Princess Lilibet during his long-awaited return trip to the UK – where he was upstaged by a boisterious little boy.

Harry was seen beaming as he swept into London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel to meet children, teenagers and their parents who have been recognised with awards from the charity WellChild. The Duke of Sussex, who travelled without his wife Meghan Markle, attended the ceremony in London as the charity’s patron of 15 years. He looked relaxed as he began one of only a handful of events he now stages in the UK, following his move to America with his family.

However, he was upstaged by a youngster who threw his toys away during an awards night and laughed as Harry picked them up. The duke met seven-year-old Noah Nicholson – who has complex medical conditions. Noah has cerebral palsy, chronic lung disease and other serious health issues, but his mother, Tracey Nicholson, 42, from Grimsby, said he remains happy and positive and lives life to the full. The little boy brought his prized comfort toys – George the cat and Ratty the Giraffe in the shape of a blanket – and delighted in throwing them on to the floor. When Ms Nicholson apologised for her son’s antics, Harry, who is WellChild’s patron, replied: “Don’t apologise, I love it.”

Harry recognised Ratty the Giraffe and called the blanket comforter ‘lovey’, a name used in American, and said: “Every parent has about six spare”. And he also revealed that his daughter three-year-old Lilibet is a fan of the toys and said: “My daughter Lili has these Lovies.” At one point Noah, who has brain damage and won the most Inspirational Child aged four to six, grabbed Harry’s beard and made him grin.

Noah’s mother said afterwards: “He’s in constant pain but is always happy and smiley. He’s just a very excitable boy and when he’s around people he just loves it. Nothing ever gets him down, he never cries unless the pain gets the better of him. He’s seriously ill fighting for his life so much, but he’s so happy.”

As WellChild’s patron for more than 15 years, Harry has regularly attended the awards ceremony staged by the organisation, the national charity for seriously ill children and their families. After meeting the award winners and presenting them with their prizes, Harry later gave a speech where he hailed those honoured as “little legends” and talked about the rollercoaster of parenting.

He said: “The WellChild Awards is an event that never fails to inspire me. The stories of young people who battle against the odds, living lives filled with medical procedures, hospital stays, and endless appointments, remind us all of the strength of the human spirit.

“For many of us, it is a daily life we can hardly imagine, and yet somehow, the young people I meet are always smiling and every room they walk into seemingly lights up with warmth and positivity. So keep being you. You’ve got this. And we’ve got you.

“As a parent, I know a little about the emotional rollercoaster of parenting! But, when I hear about the care many of you mums, dads, and family members provide; the level of round-the-clock care you offer; the skills you’ve had to learn; and the battles for support that you fight every single day—I am truly in awe.

David Beckham reunites with Prince William for special surprise outing

The footballing legend appeared alongside the Prince of Wales at RAF Northolt today.

David Beckham has reunited with Prince William during a surprise reunion today.

The England footballing legend supported the prince at RAF Northolt to mark the end of the London Air Ambulance’s ‘Up Against Time’ appeal that has raised £16m for two new helicopters.

The two men were all smiles as they greeted each other during today’s event in West London and even signed one of the new helicopters.

William asked David to be part of the Omaze campaign for the appeal which helped raise £4 million for the charity’s cause.

The scheme was launched in 2021 after it became clear that the London Air Ambulance Charity’s MD902 helicopters would be out of service within a matter of years, which would have severely affected the outcomes of thousands of patients every year.

The two new H135 helicopters will ensure the medical team can continue to provide their vital services across London.

Back in June, the football legend, who’s also a LAAC ambassador, supported Omaze’s London House Draw to help raise funds for the charity.

David said at the time: “As a proud Londoner I know how vital London’s Air Ambulance Charity is. When a patient is critically injured in the capital they don’t have time to get to hospital. But London’s Air Ambulance can deliver expert medics to perform emergency surgery anywhere in the city within minutes. Now they need our support to reach their target to replace their two helicopters and make sure they can keep flying to save lives across London. I hope that people respond to this campaign so that everyone in our city knows that London’s Air Ambulance will be there if they need them.”

And people did respond as the appeal had a target of £15million but passed it, collecting £16 million.

The football legend said today: “I’m an East End boy so every time we saw them in the air it made us very proud. As soon as I was asked to be involved by Prince William it was something I was very honoured (to do) in all honesty.”

“It’s something that’s been a part of London for a long long time, over 35 years of incredible work that the pilots and the medics do, the millions of lives they’ve saved over the years is something I was very proud to be invited to be part of.

The draw winner received a £5million luxury house in East London and £250,000 in cash.

The heir to the throne, who is patron of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, headed to RAF Northolt today to view the new helicopters and meet pilots and medical crew, who told him about how the aircraft will positively impact their roles before he joked to them saying “don’t break it”.

He also met Airbus engineers who were involved in the creation and development of the new helicopters.

William was also set to join one of the helicopter’s first flights but it was cancelled due to the bad weather.

London’s Air Ambulance Charity was established in 1989 following a growing consensus of opinion that victims of serious accidents were dying because of the delay in expert medical help reaching them, and the time it took to transport patients to hospital.

Heartbroken Doria Ragland Disowns Meghan Markle, Apologizes to Royals

Now, Meghan Markle, the former actress turned Duchess, is living her best life in sunny Los Angeles with Prince Harry and little Archie. Sou…

Now, Meghan Markle, the former actress turned Duchess, is living her best life in sunny Los Angeles with Prince Harry and little Archie. Sounds like a fairy tale, right? Wrong. Behind those designer sunglasses and million-dollar smiles, there’s a storm brewing that’s about to blow the roof off the Sussex household.

I’ve been covering the Royals for years, and I’ve seen my fair share of scandals, but this one takes the cake, frosting, and the whole damn bakery. We’re talking about a mother-daughter relationship so fractured it makes the San Andreas fault look like a hairline crack.

Remember Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mom, the one who was all smiles at the royal wedding looking proud as punch? Well, word on the street is that Doria has gone from supportive mom to, well, let’s just say she’s not exactly speed-dialing her daughter these days.

I’ve got sources, and trust me, these aren’t your run-of-the-mill gossip mongers, telling me that Doria is so fed up, so done with Meghan’s antics, that she’s considering the unthinkable. Are you ready for this? Doria Ragland, mother of the year, is apparently on the verge of publicly disowning her own daughter.

I know, I know, it sounds crazy, right? But in the world of Meghan Markle, crazy is the new normal. Now, you might be thinking, “But come on, a mother wouldn’t do that to her own child.” And normally, I’d agree with you. But we’re not dealing with normal people here; we’re dealing with a royal mess of epic proportions.

So, what’s pushed Doria to this breaking point? Well, grab your popcorn because this is where it gets good. First off, let’s talk about the Oprah interview. You remember that little televised chat that sent shockwaves through Buckingham Palace? Yeah, that one. Apparently, Doria wasn’t just shocked; she was mortified. My sources tell me that Meghan didn’t give her mom a heads-up about the bombshells she was about to drop. Imagine Doria sitting at home watching her daughter air all the royal dirty laundry on national television. Talk about a “Mom, you’re embarrassing me” moment, but in reverse.

But it’s not just the Oprah interview. No, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Let’s talk about Meghan’s relationship with her father, Thomas Markle. Now, I know family drama is nothing new, but the Markle family puts the “fun” in dysfunctional. Thomas Markle, bless his heart, has been more vocal than a rooster on a megaphone. He’s been spilling tea left and right, and it’s left Meghan in a pretty sticky situation.

But here’s the kicker: my sources say that Doria is actually siding with Thomas on this one. Can you believe it? The woman who stood by Meghan’s side at her wedding is now, apparently, Team Thomas. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “But how could a mother turn her back on her own daughter like that?” Well, buckle up, buttercup, because it gets even juicier.

Word on the street is that Doria is fed up with Meghan’s diva behavior. Apparently, the whole “what Meghan wants, Meghan gets” attitude didn’t sit well with Mama Ragland. My sources tell me that Doria has been trying to give Meghan some much-needed reality checks, but our dear Duchess isn’t having any of it.

But wait, there’s more. Remember how Meghan and Harry moved to LA supposedly to be closer to Doria? Well, plot twist: it turns out that living in the same city doesn’t mean much when you’re holed up in a multi-million dollar mansion. My sources say that Meghan’s been giving her mom the cold shoulder, and Doria’s patience is wearing thinner than the Queen’s teacups.

Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room—or should I say the baby in the nursery? Little Archie, innocent in all this drama, is apparently at the center of this whole new storm. Doria, like any grandmother, wants to be a part of her grandson’s life, but according to my sources, Meghan’s been keeping Archie under lock and key. We’re talking Fort Knox-level security here, people, and Doria? She’s lucky if she even gets a FaceTime call once in a blue moon.

But here’s where it gets really interesting. Remember Meghan’s children’s book, *The Bench*, the one about the special bond between fathers and sons? Well, rumor has it that this little literary venture was the straw that broke the camel’s back for Doria. Here’s Meghan writing about fatherhood while her own relationship with her father is more toxic than a chemical spill. The irony wasn’t lost on Doria, and apparently, it led to a massive blowout between mother and daughter.

But aren’t you being a bit harsh? Meghan’s been through a lot.” And you’re right, she has. But here’s the thing: being a royal, even an ex-royal, comes with responsibilities. It’s not just about the tiara and fancy titles; it’s about representing something bigger than yourself. And from where I’m sitting, it looks like Meghan’s forgotten that little detail.

We’re not just talking about a family tiff; this is about the very foundation of the monarchy. Meghan and Harry’s exit from royal duties wasn’t just a career change; it was a seismic shift in the royal landscape. And now this family drama is playing out like a soap opera, adding fuel to an already raging fire.

But here’s where it gets really interesting. My sources tell me that the royal family—yes, the same one Meghan and Harry left behind—is watching all this unfold with bated breath. And guess what? They’re not just sitting on their royal laurels. Oh no, they’re taking action. Word on the street is that the palace is reaching out to Doria. Yes, you heard that right. The royal family, in all their centuries-old wisdom, sees an opportunity here. They’re apparently offering Doria a shoulder to cry on, a sympathetic ear, and who knows, maybe even a chance to mend fences.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “But come on, the royal family wouldn’t meddle like that.” But let me tell you something: when it comes to protecting the monarchy, there is no limit to what they’ll do. And right now, Meghan and Harry are the biggest threats to their carefully cultivated image since, well, the last royal scandal.

So, what does this mean for Meghan? Well, if my sources are correct—and they usually are—she’s in for a rude awakening. Imagine waking up one day to find that your own mother has not only turned her back on you but is cozying up to the very institution you’ve been railing against. Talk about a plot twist.

But let’s take a step back for a moment. Is this all Meghan’s fault? Is she really the villain in this royal drama, or is she just a woman caught between two worlds, trying to navigate an impossible situation? Here’s my take, and remember, I’ve been in this game for a long time: Meghan Markle walked into the royal family thinking she could change centuries of tradition overnight. She wanted to be a princess on her own terms, and when that didn’t work out, she decided to take her ball and go home. But here’s the thing: you can’t just walk away from the royal family. It’s not a job you can quit; it’s a life, an identity, a legacy. And now Meghan’s finding out the hard way that actions have consequences. She thought she could have it all—fame, fortune, freedom—but as she’s learning, freedom comes at a price, and that price might just be her relationship with her mother.

So, what’s next for the Duchess of Sussex? Will she mend fences with Doria? Will she reconcile with the royal family, or will she double down, burning bridges left and right? One thing’s for sure: this drama is far from over, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll be here bringing you all the juicy details as they unfold.

But here’s a thought to leave you with: in all this chaos, all this drama, let’s not forget that at the heart of it is a family—a mother, a daughter, a grandmother, and a grandson. Maybe, just maybe, if we can remember that, we might find a little compassion in our hearts for all involved.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are proud parents of two royally adorable children.

The couple, who were married in May 2018, welcomed their first child, son Archie Harrison, in 2019 while they were still senior members of the royal family. In January 2020, they stepped back from their duties and later moved to Santa Barbara, California, where they had a daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana, in June 2021.

Prince Harry and Meghan retain their royal titles, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but they don’t use them in daily life or carry out work on behalf of the royal family. Instead, Harry and Meghan are focused on initiatives like their charitable work through the Archewell Foundation, with which they support access to education, women’s empowerment and fighting racial injustice.

While Harry and Meghan’s life at home with their kids in California is more relaxed than their previous routines as working royals, the Duke of Sussex has said that being parents of two is “definitely a juggle.”

Archie and Lili did not receive the titles of prince and princess when they were born because they were great-grandchildren of the monarch. Though Archie was entitled to the “courtesy title” of Earl of Dumbarton upon his birth, his parents chose not to give him a courtesy title at that time.

Meghan previously told Oprah Winfrey that she would have accepted a title for Archie at birth if it had offered him security and “meant he was going to be safe.”

“And it’s not our decision to make,” she said. “Even though I have a lot of clarity of what comes with the titles, good and bad … that is their birthright to then make a choice about.”

Once their grandfather King Charles became monarch, Archie and Lili were afforded the titles of prince and princess. The royal family’s official website was updated to reflect the children’s new titles of Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana in March 2023.

Archie and Lili’s names were updated again in February 2024 when Harry and Meghan adopted Sussex as their family surname. Officially, their names are now Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

In his memoir Spare, Harry wrote that he hopes that his children will have a meaningful relationship with the royal family.

“I’ve said before that I’ve wanted a family, not an institution — so of course, I would love nothing more than for our children to have relationships with members of my family, and they do with some, which brings me great joy,” Harry explained further to PEOPLE in January 2023.

A month later, Harry told Good Morning America how “grateful” he is to be a dad.

“The kids are growing up like all kids do … very, very fast. They’ve both got an incredible sense of humor and make us laugh and keep us grounded every single day,” he told the outlet.

From the arrival of their firstborn to their low-key family life in California, here’s everything to know about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s two kids.

Harry and Meghan’s first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor, now Prince Archie of Sussex, was born on May 6, 2019, in London, England. “He has the sweetest temperament,” Meghan shared of her son while introducing the newborn to the world shortly after his birth. “He’s really calm.”

Meghan later revealed that the couple almost named their son Harrison before deciding on Archie, a shortened version of the name Archibald, meaning genuine and bold or brave. They instead made Harrison his middle name, which originated in the Middle Ages as a patronymic meaning “son of Henry” or “son of Harry.”

When he was only 4 months old, Archie joined his parents on a visit to South Africa, where he met anti-apartheid activist Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Meghan later shared that a fire broke out in the nursery where Archie was staying during the trip, and despite being “shaken” by the incident, the couple had to quickly leave their son for another scheduled engagement. Not long after the visit, Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step back from royal duties and split their time between the U.K. and North America.

Harry reflected on how his decision to step back from his royal duties to focus on being a father was particularly meaningful to him in light of his own mother’s experience raising children in the spotlight.

“I have no doubt that my mom would be incredibly proud of me. I’m living the life that she wanted to live for herself, living the life that she wanted us to be able to live,” Harry said in his docuseries The Me You Can’t See, co-created with Winfrey. “So not only do I know that she’s incredibly proud of me, but that she’s helped me get here. And I’ve never felt her presence more as I have done over the last year.”

On the show, Harry also revealed that there’s a picture of Princess Diana hanging in Archie’s nursery, and that one of his first words was “grandma,” after “mama,” “papa” and “crocodile.”

Harry and Meghan are also emphasizing the importance of moral character with their son. “When I talk to my son Archie about what he wants to be when he grows up, some days it’s an astronaut, other days it’s a pilot — a helicopter pilot obviously,” he said at the opening of the 2022 Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick servicemembers and veterans.

“But what I remind him is that no matter what you want to be when you grow up, it’s your character that matters most, and nothing would make his mum and me prouder than to see him have the character of what we see before us today.”

Meghan echoed this sentiment during an interview with The Cut in August 2022. “We always tell him: ‘Manners make the man. Manners, manners, manners, manners, manners,’ ” she explained.
