Fans who were lucky enough to score a seat at the sell-out show took to social media to share images of hundreds of empty seats throughout the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

‘My name is Taylor and I’ll be your host this evening,’ she said as she kicked off the highly anticipated show.

‘Losing my mind at there being 96,000 people here. This is the biggest show that we’ve ever done.

I’m fully starstruck by the fact so many people wanted to hang out with us on a Friday night in Melbourne!’

But one disappointed music fan posted a series of images revealing nearly two whole sections of the stadium were empty during the performance.

The images also showed dozens of other empty seats scattered throughout the stands.

‘A bit upset to see so many empty blocks of seats,’ she posted on Facebook.

‘I hope they are empty for a good reason.’

Some social media users suggested the images were simply taken before the star took to the stage and people had arrived.

However, former Triple M radio announcer James Anderson shared images of during Swift’s performance which showed hundreds of empty seats.

‘Pictures just in: Empty seats spotted for tonight’s Taylor Swift concert. Ticketek are firing up the queue system shortly,’ he said in a Facebook post.

‘It was chocka, only some obstructed areas were empty,’ one concert goer commented.

‘There are also capacity restrictions for the venue. Seats can’t just be filled because they’re there and empty,’ another user reminded desperate fans.

‘(The stadium) was packed to the brim, no empty seats when she came on,’ another social media user reassured distressed fans.

‘Pretty much nothing would be visible from those seats.’

Others noted that some empty sections belonged to MCG package ticket holders, who were taking part in a sit-down dinner until 7pm and before filling up the stands.

‘The MCC did a pre-event dining experience so a lot of people may be there,’ a commenter said.

A teenager tragically killed in a horrific highway crash while on a family road trip to see Taylor Swift in concert has been identified.

Mieka Pokarier, 16, died when the SUV she was travelling in with her mother and sister collided with a semi-trailer near Dubbo as they drove to Melbourne from the Gold Coast.

The crash on Dunedoo Road at Ballimore on Thursday about 6pm also left Mieka’s younger sister Freya Pokarier, 10, in a critical condition. She was airlifted to Westmead Hospital.

Mieka was understood to have been sitting in the front passenger seat when the crash occurred.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the teenager could not be saved.

On Saturday, Mieka and Freya’s father, Peter Pokarier, shared his grief on Facebook.

‘That’s my baby that died,’ he wrote.

The driver of the semi-trailer had minor injuries and was taken to Dubbo Hospital in a stable condition.

The mother of the two girls, Kim Litchfield, who was driving the SUV, sustained several injuries and was also taken to Dubbo Hospital.

Godmother to the sisters, Karleigh Fox, said the younger girl was fighting for life in a coma with brain injuries, a broken pelvis and a broken leg.

She said the two girls had been looking forward to attending the 14-time Grammy Award winner’s concert.

‘This was supposed to be a road-trip of a lifetime with them going to concerts in both Melbourne and Sydney,’ she told the Courier Mail.

The Gold Coast-based family were heading down to Melbourne ahead of Swift’s sold-out concert at the MCG.

Mr Pokarier, the girl’s father, also shared a link to the Go FundMe.

He said his family is ‘what I live for, I’m devastated’.

Tributes have also flowed from friends on social media.

Cheyenne Craig said Mieka was learning to drive.

‘How is it fair that someone as sweet and beautiful as you was taken away from us so soon?,’ she wrote to social media.

‘Mieka was the sweetest, most down to earth person you could’ve ever had the privilege of knowing, her stupid jokes that always made no sense but somehow always made you laugh… and the way we would spend the entire day talking about concerts.’

Both sisters had been part of the Gold Coast Youth Theatre Academy.

Simone Medland also said Mieka was passionate about music and concerts.

‘I was so happy to see you happy living your life and going to concerts. You deserved to be happy and there are so many people that care about you.,’ she said.

‘I wouldn’t trade these last few years I had with you for the world and I wish I could just see you once more. We had so many plans of things we needed to do together and it’ll always be my biggest regret that we never got the chance to.’

NSW Police said in a statement that a crime scene was set up as officers continue to investigate the incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

According to the report, the incident occurred at 7pm, but it wasn’t until after 9pm that the Swifties were able to return to their seats after standing by for the area to be scrubbed clean.

And by then, Taylor was well into her set.

And if this is how Kelce behaves in public, what does he do behind locker-room doors?

Count me among those not buying Reid’s excuses for this most terrible treatment.

Doubtless Kelce’s sweat and spittle radiated too.

And remember, this isn’t an isolated incident.

These are catastrophes of his own making.

It’s not a question of if Tay-Tay and Travis break up, but when.

This was always as much of a brand merger as a romance. Who could forget the way Swift described their love story in a rare interview she gave to Time magazine, which named her ‘Person of the Year’ last December — in no small part due to her wholesome, unblemished image?

‘We actually had a significant amount of time [together] that no one knew’, she said of their origin story. ‘I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date’.

Hard launch! Let’s look to the Cambridge dictionary for a proper definition: ‘An occasion when a new product or service is made available to the public, not just a limited number of people, in a way that is intended to attract a lot of attention’.

Mission accomplished.

Taylor and Travis are (were?) a marketing scheme, and it has served its purpose well. Taylor got a guy who wants to be as famous as she is — see the recent Wall Street Journal magazine cover story, written by Prince Harry’s ghostwriter, in which the footballer talks about using The Rock as his template — and Travis got fast-tracked into the celebrity stratosphere.

Hope he enjoyed the ride, because he’s about to crash land on Earth. A hard launch downward, if you will.

Kelce would have done well to take cues from his girlfriend. After all, as he told WSJ: ‘Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is, has been f***ing mind-blowing. I’m learning from her every day.’

He hasn’t learned enough, it seems. Consider Swift’s course correction just moments after her perceived Grammys snub of Celine Dion — a beloved icon who presented Swift with Album of the Year despite struggling with a rare, terminal disease.

Swift didn’t even look Dion in the eye as she grabbed that trophy, then praised everyone on stage except Dion. It was ungracious at best.

But Swift was sure to immediately get a photo with the legend backstage, thus putting any resulting controversy to bed. Mostly.

According to the family, the girls required surgery for their leg injuries and are now making ‘good progress’ in their recovery.

In a public statement released on Friday, the family shared photos of the couple’s visit and thanked Patrick and Brittany Mahomes ‘for their outpouring care, love, and support.’

The heartwarming images show Mahomes and Brittany posing alongside the girls, who are smiling from ear to ear and holding a mini Kansas City Chiefs football helmet from their hospital beds.

‘On behalf of the Reyes Family, we are incredibly grateful for the love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Our family, along with the other families impacted by this senseless act, are still healing physically and emotionally,’ the statement read.

‘We’re happy to share that our daughters, ages 8 and 10, are making good progress in their recovery from their leg injuries. Both girls were shot in the legs, underwent surgery, and are currently in casts for several months.

‘We will endure follow-up doctor’s visits for the next few years. They are receiving physical therapy to regain their strength and mobility. While we are relieved by their progress, the emotional healing continues for all of us.

Police said the 22 people were injured in the shooting ranged between 8 and 47 years old, with half under the age of 16.

On Friday the Chiefs finally made a move to support their community as the city tries to recover from the tragedy.

The franchise announced it has set up ‘Kansas City Strong’ with the Hunt family and the NFL supporting the cause with an initial $200,000 donation to kickstart the fundraiser.

The fund comes after Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of Chefs tight end Travis Kelce, made a touching donation of $100,000 to the grieving family of the Kansas City radio DJ shot dead.

The popstar, who wasn’t at the rally Wednesday after jetting in to Australia for the next leg of her Eras Tour, made two $50,000 donations to the GoFundMe page set up for Lisa Lopez-Galvan’s family.

‘Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift,’ read the message accompanying the gift.

Lopez-Galvan, 44, was killed when two juvenile gunmen opened fire in the crowd in a ‘personal dispute’ that escalated.

Earlier on Friday the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the juvenile suspects will be charged as adults.

The two suspects who are yet to be named are currently in custody, as cops in Missouri continue to vet what happened at the stricken Super Bowl celebration.

A third juvenile initially believed to be involved has since been determined to not been connected to the shooting and was released.

Police Chief Stacey Graves said investigators believe the shooting was triggered by a personal dispute between a small group, and the parade was not the target. Graves added that preliminary findings show no connection to terrorism or homegrown extremism.

The 22 people injured ranged between 8 and 47 years old, with half under 16. Children’s Mercy Hospital said it treated 11 children – nine of them had been shot and three remain at the hospital on Thursday. All victims are expected to recover, per officials.

Lopez-Galvan’s brother Beto Lopez went on to reveal Lopez-Galvan’s son, Marc, and her daughter, Adrianna, were both present at the parade, and witnessed their mom’s merciless killing.

Actress and activist Angela Belcamino posted the “fact” to her account with many quickly replying with their own thoughts on the matter.

“You are obviously not a football fan at all … ‘Kelce was drafted by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft and later won Super Bowls LIV and LVII with the team, catching a touchdown in both wins’,” replied one person.2013Another added: “Not fact. They continued: ‘Her family was there and all of her friends. He knew this. Travis should have been able to keep his cool better.

‘That kind of shouting would be a breaking point for some people in relationships.’

After the game, Travis told the media that his rage was down to the fact that he ‘wanted the score to be different.’

His coach later told ESPN that Travis embraced him after the victory: ‘He came over and gave me a hug, said “Sorry about that.” He just wants to be on the field and he wants to play.’

Then fans were left concerned by his drunken appearance during the Chiefs’ victory parade, shortly before the tragic shooting took place.

Meanwhile, prosecutors are still undecided on the charges against the three suspects they have in custody.

Two are juveniles who were having a ‘personal dispute’, according to police yesterday.

One, who was carrying an assault rifle, was tackled by heroic fans as he tried to flee the scene.

None have been named. The local district attorney said they intend to charge all of the suspects as adults, with the judge’s permission.

Hundreds of Swifties have gone to extra measures in order to have the best experience possible, while some have been let down over scams and price gouging.

So, could Taylor Swift’s Eras tour be cursed with bad luck? Daily Mail Australia takes a look at the several issues that have sparked ahead of the singer’s sold-out performances.

Ticket scams

Swifties are eagerly awaiting Taylor’s sold-out Eras tour Down Under and many are still trying to get their hands on tickets.

But several fans have been left devastated after their tickets have reportedly disappeared amid a rise in scams.

Scamwatch, a website run by the ACCC to detect scams, said 273 concertgoers had so far been duped into purchasing fake tickets to Swift’s Era’s Tour in February.

The competition watchdog has estimated that Aussies have lost more than $135,000 to the scam so far with that figure expected to grow.

Some fans have claimed that their tickets have suddenly ‘disappeared’ or their accounts have been hacked, while others have fallen victim to online scammers posing as people who are selling tickets.

Fake tickets are being resold with scammers who claim to be selling tickets to the concert contacting fans on social media.

Hundreds of Swifties have gone to extra measures in order to have the best experience possible, while some have been let down over scams and price gouging

One scam post tells users that a person who was going to the concert is now unable to attend and instead offers another social media user the tickets at a lower price.

The scammer ask users to pay an extra fee to have the ticket changed under their name and may rush the buyer into purchasing the ‘high demand’ tickets.

Once the user has paid for the ticket, they are discovering no ticket is forthcoming and they’re no longer able to contact the scammer.

Concertgoers have been urged not to buy tickets on social media and have been advised to buy them from an authorised ticket seller.

Police have urged fans to be on the lookout for scammers if trying to source any last minute tickets for the Eras tour.

Meanwhile, Victoria’s Cybercrime Squad explained how scammers are targeting eager fans with fake ticket sales on social media and gave advice on how to spot the scams.

The statement read: ‘Capitalising on demand for tickets, scammers are targeting fans with fake ticket sales through social media, often hacking accounts of individuals and then using the profiles to sell fake tickets to the victim’s friends.’

‘The scammers will advertise their tickets ‘at cost price’, with a story behind why they can no longer attend.’

‘Check it once, then check it twice – they may try to rush you into buying the tickets and transferring them money. As well as the ticket price, they’ll likely ask you to pay the extra fees to change the name on the ticket.

‘They will often send what they purport to be a screenshot of the email confirmation of having bought the tickets, making the scam look more legitimate.

‘Then, once you’ve transferred the money, life will lose all its meaning for the last time, and the profile will block you.’

Victoria Police said it has already received at least 250 reports of ticketing scams – totalling more than $260,000 – since the Eras Tour kicked off in June last year.

Price gouging

Fans have also suffered from an inflating cost of flights and accommodation.

So much so, some Swifties are contending with greedy Airbnb owners who are taking advantage of Taylor Swift tourism in Sydney and Melbourne.

Despite booking out accommodation months in advance in preparation for the popstar’s Eras tour, countless Swifties have found themselves losing their rooms at the last minute as Airbnb hosts price gouge other desperate fans by relisting the properties at a higher cost.

One fan from Gunnedah, NSW said she secured accommodation near the MCG between February 16 and 20 for $630, only for the host to cancel her booking a week before the show.

She was told the host wanted to ‘redo the carpets’ and would subsequently need to cancel her booking. But two days later, she discovered the Airbnb host had relisted the property she originally secured for $1,347.

Given the cost of tour tickets, interstate flights, and costumes, among other things, some Swifties could be out thousands of dollars if they are unable to find alternative accommodation after having their Airbnb bookings cancelled

The host listed the same four nights as vacant, charging $717 more than what Jasmine was originally charged.

Others have claimed their rooms were cancelled for ‘family reasons’ or ‘plumbing issues’ before being relisted just days later for hundreds more dollars.

Airbnb has a host cancellation policy which ‘may impose fees and other consequences such as blocking a host from relisting on the same dates that were cancelled,’ a spokesperson said.

Given the cost of tour tickets, interstate flights, and costumes, among other things, some Swifties could be out thousands of dollars if they are unable to find alternative accommodation after having their Airbnb bookings cancelled.

Meanwhile, concertgoers who don’t live in Sydney or Melbourne are taking drastic measures to travel to the shows, and considering commuting to the cities via private jets.

Flight Centre have revealed commercial flights from Brisbane to Melbourne cost approximately $569 for the February 16 show.

The following week, the same route drops dramatically to $118.

A one-way economy flight with Jetstar from Brisbane to Sydney on February 23, coinciding with Swift’s first Sydney tour date, is priced between $399 to $460. In contrast, the same flight a week earlier ranges from $92 to $123.

Some Swifties are even paying for private jets to take them to Sydney and Melbourne

Virgin and Qantas made similar hikes, with Virgin’s range of fares surging from between $119 and $325 to $386 and $768.

Similarly, Qantas raised its prices from $139 to $709 to a new range between $394 and $709 for flights during the tour period.

But it’s not just the flights hitting the Swifty’s hip pocket, accommodation in Sydney’s CBD has surged to over four figures.

The Marriott Sydney Harbour’s rates surged from $589 for February 16-17 to an elevated price of $1039 for February 23 to February 24.

Similarly, the cost at Novotel Parramatta escalated significantly, rising from $350 to a hefty $899 for the same period.

Kansas City Fire reportedly said that of those injured, five were ‘serious’, three were ‘critical’, and one person has non-life-threatening injuries.

Thankfully, Travis’ mother Donna Kelce revealed the Chiefs were rushed back to Arrowhead Stadium ‘really fast’ after the shooting occurred during the team’s Super Bowl parade.

But the harrowing ordeal would have taken an emotional toll on Taylor, who was en route to Melbourne at the time of the incident.

‘I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today,’ Kelce said.

‘My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.’

Travis Kelce has matched girlfriend Taylor Swift’s $100,000 donation to victims of Wednesday’s mass shooting following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally.

Kelce made the gift through a GoFundMe page, which shows a pair of $50,000 donations from his charity, the Eighty-Seven & Running Foundation – an organization that aims to help ‘underserved youth strive to become productive citizens.’

The GoFundMe page was started by friends of the Reyes family, who had two young daughters wounded in the shooting. The fund drive has already surpassed its $100,00 goal, reaching $177,000 by Friday evening. Swift, meanwhile, donated to the family of Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan, who was killed in the shooting.

Of course, the donation only comes after Kelce took waves of criticism for partying in the wake of the shooting, which left one dead and 22 others injured. Two juveniles were charged with crimes connected to the mass shooting, authorities said Friday, as the city tries to recover in the aftermath of the violence.

Kelce was among the Chiefs stars who went ahead with a ‘scaled down’ celebration just hours after a mass shooting saw the team’s Super Bowl parade descend into tragedy. However, other teammates stayed away from the party.

In pictures obtained by DailyMail.com, Kelce is seen in a Kansas City sports bar alongside several teammates and their partners – including Patrick Mahomes‘ wife Brittany.

The group also included Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend, center Creed Humphrey, tight end Matt Bushman and his wife Emily.

Sources told DailyMail.com that Mahomes booked the entire venue out for a select few members of the squad and their families. Many of coach Andy Reid’s team stayed away following the attack.

But Kelce, who led a rendition of the Beastie Boys’ hit ‘Fight For Your Right [to party]’ following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win, was among those who continued to enjoy themselves.

This new image is sure to pose more questions for Kelce, who has already being criticized for smiling gleefully in a photo with a police officer in the wake of the deadly shooting.

Fans took to social media to share the outrage, including one who called Kelce a ‘narcissist’

A news release from the Jackson County Family Court said the juveniles are being detained in the county’s Juvenile Detention Center on gun-related and resisting arrest charges. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

No further information was released. Defendants age 17 and under in Missouri are typically adjudicated through the juvenile system, which is far more private than the system for adults. Names of the accused are not released, nor are police documents such as probable cause statements.

In cases involving serious crimes such as murder, juveniles as young as 12 can be certified for trial as adults, said Lynn Urban, a professor who chairs the Criminal Justice and Criminology Department at the University of Central Missouri.

Federal law prohibits the death penalty for anyone under age 18 at the time of the crime.

Police initially detained three juveniles but released one who they determined wasn’t involved in the shooting. Police are looking for others who may have been involved and are calling for witnesses, victims and people with cellphone video of the violence to call a dedicated hotline.

Meanwhile, locals are turning to religious gatherings, vigils and counseling to try to cope with the horror of what happened.

A mother and popular disc jockey died in the burst of gunfire Wednesday as the parade and rally were concluding, and 22 others — more than half of them children — were injured. By Friday, two people remained in critical condition and one was in serious condition. Most of the injured children were out of the hospital and expected to recover.

But the emotional recovery is only just beginning in a community horrified that two juveniles could cause such trauma. Police believe a dispute between several people led to the shooting.

The slain woman was identified by radio station KKFI-FM as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, host of ‘Taste of Tejano.’ On Friday, a family friend, Katrina Rojas Vincent, said she could feel Lopez-Galvan’s presence as she stood near the shooting site.

‘Her spirit will always be here welcoming people back to this location, to not be afraid to not have any fear, to enjoy yourself and live your life,’ Vincent said.

She described Lopez-Galvan as a vibrant, giving person.
