Kate Middleton is reportedly taking a break from her royal duties to focus on her children, particularly her eldest son Prince George, who has exams coming up.
This decision may not come as a surprise, as Kate has shown a decreasing interest in royal duties and has made significantly fewer public appearances compared to previous years.
Similar to Meghan Markle, who also prioritized her mental health and eventually left her royal responsibilities, Kate’s decision seems to be temporary and centered around her family, while Meghan’s departure was permanent.

Kate Middleton appears to be taking a page out of Meghan Markle’s book, as she’s reportedly stepping away from her royal duties. Speaking to The Mirror, a source says Kate felt compelled to take a step back to focus on her children.

Meghan allegedly makes it difficult for Prince Harry and William to communicate after they moved abroad.

“It seems the Princess could be currently enjoying a break in her busy diary for the rest of this week and all of next week – and it’s all down to her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.,” the insider explained. Specifically, the insider said her eldest son, George, is going through a stressful time at school that she wants to be present for.

“Prince George has exams that week and the Princess wants to be at home to support him,” they explained, though it’s unclear what exams the child is preparing for.

Kate has been seen in public various times over the last few weeks, as she’s represented the royal family at numerous public events, including giving a lecture to University students as well as cheering England on during the Rugby World Cup games.

Meghan Markle was Trevor Engelson’s first wife. Who is Tracey Kurland, the current Mrs. Engelson?

Kate’s decision to temporarily step away from her royal duties may not come as a surprise, as a July report hinted that the princess was reducing her workload as she has an increasing “lack of interest in royal duties.”

To put in perspective, the report says that Kate has made 40 solo public appearances in addition to 40 joint ones with her husband, Prince William, which is significantly less than the 120 royal engagements she did in 2019.

The princess is often tight-lipped on her personal life, but she made a rare comment on the importance of mental health in May, potentially foreshadowing her decision to reduce her royal engagements. “It is so important that we all talk about our feelings and emotions. The good ones and the more difficult ones too, because we all have them,” she said.

Royal Responsibilities Have Hurt Kate And Meghan’s Mental Health

Kate’s sister-in-law Meghan Markle has also been vocal about her mental well-being. Meghan relocated to California with her husband Prince Harry in 2021, citing the media pressure and tensions with the royal family as big motivating factors.

Meghan has even admitted to feeling suicidal while living in the UK and completing public engagements. Eventually, the couple abdicated their royal responsibilities to move abroad, where they’re now pursuing various projects in Hollywood, including a lucrative media deal with Netflix to produce various content.

While Meghan and Harry’s departure from the UK appears to be a permanent decision, the reports about Kate’s decision to step away from her royal duties seems to only be temporary, as she wants to focus on her kids for the time being.

However, the royal family has yet to release an official statement regarding Kate and her upcoming engagements. And given how notoriously private the royals can be, they may choose not to comment on the reports at all.
