Prince Harry losing title is ‘best solution’ claims Lady Colin, as petition reaches 50,000
PRINCE HARRY losing his title is the “only solution” for him to “indulge his personal beliefs” without further “destroying” the monarchy, according to Lady Colin Campbell.
Prince Harry, 36, has delivered a number of bombshell revelations about the Royal Family while over in the USA, where he now resides with his wife, Meghan Markle, 39. However, if the Duke Of Sussex is to continue “indulging his personal beliefs” and potentially “damaging the institution of the monarchy” he must give up his title, royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell has claimed.
A campaign launched by Lady Colin to take away Prince Harry’s royal title has reached 50,000 signatures on Change.Org.
The Duke and Duchess Of Sussex stepped down from their royal roles in January 2020, but they still have their titles.
According to the petition, some feel it would be best for the Duke Of Sussex to ask the Queen to put his titles into abeyance, meaning they would go into disuse – a move that can be revoked should things change down the line.
The royal couple moved to California following their departure from the Firm – Prince Harry has called the state his “spiritual home”.

The petition reads: “As a purely private citizen, with no royal rank, style or title, he (Harry) will be able to indulge his personal beliefs, as is the right of all private citizens, without the consequential possibility of damaging the institution of the Monarchy or relations between Friendly Powers, and will be free to articulate beliefs, no matter how objectionable, without the fallout that is otherwise inevitable as long as he possesses royal status.”
The 71-year-old TV personality previously revealed that she decided to start the online petition after speaking with “many people” and she felt it “was the right thing to do”.
She said if Harry – whose father is Prince Charles and older brother is Prince William – did relinquish his royal titles then it would free him from the royal institution and allow him to pursue a media career “without consequence”.
“I started [the petition] because I think it’s the right thing to do. I have spoken to people, many people, who think it’s the right thing to do and it is the solution,” she said.

Speculation about Meghan’s political future has also been fuelled by her and Prince Harry’s newfound connection to Genevieve Roth, director of Creative Engagement for the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign

“It is the best solution because it frees Harry to be able to indulge himself without consequence and without doing damage to the institution of the monarchy of the British nation, the British people and himself.”
Since stepping back from the royal family, the couple have not shied away from the limelight with both Prince Harry and Meghan sitting down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
There’s even been rumours of a political agenda for the pair, as an insider said last year that Meghan “would seriously consider running for president”.
Vanity Fair quoted a “close friend” of hers as saying: “One of the reasons she was so keen not to give up her American citizenship was so she had the option to go into politics.
