Joey Essex will star on Big Brother – just a few months after he joined the cast of Love Island.
The reality TV personality, 34, first found fame on The Only Way is Essex, before joining multiple reality shows including I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, Dancing on Ice and Celebs Go Dating.
But now bosses have secured him for the upcoming series of Big Brother. Joey is not earmarked to be a contestant but will feature in the upcoming civilian series, which starts on Sunday on ITV2 and ITVX.
Celebrities including Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Kate Middleton ’s uncle Gary Goldsmith have appeared on a separate Celebrity spinoff of Big Brother, but the upcoming series will feature members of the public.

Joey split from his Love Island girlfriend Jessy Potts just seven weeks after they left the villa, where Joey was the only celebrity present. He paid a secret visit to the Big Brother studios in London’s Harlesden on Friday afternoon, where he recorded footage for the new series, which is hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best.
A source said: “Joey will absolutely appear in the new series, though he won’t be a contestant. As a reality TV veteran he is the perfect person to present to the housemates – he knows exactly what they will be feeling so he will be a real asset to the series.
“His full involvement is shrouded in secrecy but he made such brilliant telly on Love Island, ITV bosses are thrilled he is taking part.”
Joey also recently appeared on Selling Sunset where he viewed a £5million property in the Hollywood Hills. The new house features brightly coloured paint drips all over the house, as well as the usual hot tub in the garden.
Contestants will walk through an illuminated neon corridor to reach the Diary room. Last series’ winner Jordan Sangha joked he was “triggered” when he returned to view the freshly refurbished property.
The freshly-renovated house in London’s Harlesden carries a running theme throughout, with dramatic paint blobs adorning all the walls. The giant drops spill down the stairway and splatter over a rabbit’s head in the garden, making it look like a bunch of cowboy builders did a botched job of the plastering.
But the brightly-coloured, ornamental drips are just part of the lurid aesthetics, with intense neon lights also illuminating the walkway to the iconic Diary room. There is also a marble-effect dining table for the new guests to sit around as they chomp down on their potentially limited rations.
Big Brother starts on Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
