PRINCE Harry is willing to be a working royal again to help support his father through his illness, insiders claim.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, today opened up about King Charles’ cancer, and his 10,000-mile round trip to see the monarch.

Harry also said that he hoped the shock diagnosis would mend their family rift.

He said: “I love my family. The fact I was able to get on a plane and see him and spend any time with him – I’m grateful for that.”

Asked if the King’s illness could have a reunifying effect on the family, he added: “Yeah sure.

“Through all these families I see on a day-to-day basis the strength of the family unit coming together.”

Royal insiders have now claimed the prince would be willing to step back into The Firm to offer a helping hand while the King recovers.

They said the monarch also thought such a move would “benefit the institution”.

Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020, before they shifted to the US and started their lives over there.

The conversations around Harry stepping back up are said to have happened since the King’s diagnosis.

A source told The Times: “On all practical levels it makes perfect sense for the family to come together to support the King while he’s sick.

“Much has been said on both sides in recent years, but that has never diminished the fundamental bond of blood, and there are now pragmatic aspects to consider, with the King and Kate’s wellbeing paramount in this.

“The details of the Clarence House meeting and subsequent conversations are private, but the feeling is that this arrangement could work.”

Harry has tonight beenslammed by a royal expert after insiders said they feared he had gone to see the King to have something to talk about in today’s interview.

One source said: “Harry would have known he had this interview in the US and would be asked about his father, so needed material.

“The palace was not stupid and knew they had to limit the time he could spend with the King.”

The trip mirrored Harry’s trip to see the late Queen in 2022, which he then spoke about in great detail to US television days later during the Invictus Games in The Netherlands.

Harry’s biographer and royal expert Angela Levin told The Sun: “Harry’s interview was shameless and despicable.

“The TV company had obviously said they wanted a few words about his father and Harry’s return to the UK.

“If he had not been to the UK he would not have any words about his father because he would not have seen him.

“So he whizzed over, knowing that he had to do something on TV. It’s all totally insincere and to give him publicity.”

Prince Harry was today joined by Michael Buble in Canada as his three-day trip to launch next year’s Invictus Games drew to a close.

I have got other trips planned that will take me through the UK, or back to the UK, so I will stop in and see them when I can.

The pair tried their hands at curling, while Meghan Markle watched on with a smile.

Afterward, Harry thanked Canada for its hospitality.

He said: “We are officially one year out to the Whistler/Vancouver Invictus Games and there is a reason the Invictus Games has come back to Canada – because you guys have got snow.

“Lots of it as well, and sunshine, which also helps.

“The last few days have been incredible and, again, an enormous thank you to the four First Nations for allowing us to be on your territory.

“Thank you for the welcome, thank you for the hospitality, not just now but for 2025 as well when there will be a lot more of us.

“Hopefully you still feel the same then, after the games.”

It comes after defiant Meghan and Harry hit back at fierce criticism for their rebrand.

MEGXIT TERMS

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced on January 8, 2020, they would be stepping down as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family.

On January 18 it was announced that Harry and Meghan would “no longer be working members of Britain’s Royal Family”, and would not use their “Royal Highness” titles.

A Palace spokeswoman said the couple would no longer receive public money and that they would repay the £2.4million cost of refurbishing their cottage — Frogmore — in Windsor, Berks.

The following day, Harry said in a heartfelt speech: “Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth, and my military associations without public funding. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible.”

The Duke of Sussex said he had found the “love and happiness I had hoped for all my life” with Meghan.

They were criticised for not consulting the Royal Family first, after the Queen had banned the couple from using ‘SussexRoyal’ when they stepped away from royal duty four years ago.

A representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told The Mirror: “We’ve heard time and time again that certain opportunities are make or break for the couple.

“They’re still here. They’re still working and pursuing what they believe in, despite constantly being challenged and criticised.

“This couple will not be broken.”

When asked today about Charles’ current condition, Harry said: “That stays between me and him.”

He said: “I have my own family as we all do. My family and life in California is how it is.

“I have got other trips planned that will take me through the UK, or back to the UK, so I will stop in and see them when I can.”

He also gave an insight into Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s personalities and said he could “consider” becoming an American citizen.

A body language expert then said Harry seemed “awkward” and “disingenuous” in the interview.
