Jeremy Kyle has recently shared the names of two prominent TV personalities who stood by him following the cancellation of his ITV show in 2019. The decision to pull the show came after the tragic death of a guest, Steve Dymond, who died by suicide after failing a lie detector test while appearing on the programme.

Despite initial speculation, an inquest last September found no “clear and reliable causal connection” between Dymond’s death and his appearance on the show. In a heartfelt conversation with Kate Garraway, Jeremy, 59, revealed the key figures who offered him unwavering support during this difficult period.

He confessed: “You really learn who your friends are. Piers Morgan was straight in there, rock solid, and Kate Garraway was the same, rock solid. A lot of people reached out, and that’s what you need.”

Jeremy went on to explain that, despite the support from close friends like Kate and Piers, he had experienced a surge of unexpected messages following Kate’s Life Stories interview last month. “Three weeks ago when Kate’s interview aired, I got texts from people I hadn’t heard from in six years,” he shared.

The conversation then turned emotional as Jeremy recalled the moment he learned of Steve Dymond’s death. “I’ve got amazing people who saved me through it,” he said, reflecting on how his thoughts were always focused on Steve and his family during the crisis.

“But it was incredibly frustrating, Kate, because for five years, I wasn’t allowed to say anything due to legal restrictions.”

He opened up further about the overwhelming impact the incident had on everyone involved, including the show’s staff. “It snowballed quickly, and I thought about the people who lost their jobs, their homes, and their livelihoods. It became a massive news story, and the hardest part was being unable to speak up,” Jeremy said, expressing his frustration with the situation.

Acknowledging the gravity of the incident, Jeremy admitted he understood why the show was canceled and why some people were critical of it.

“I get it, I completely understand why the show had to end, and I know there were people who felt it was deserved. But honestly, there’s no bitterness or anger. You just find out who your true friends are.”

The Jeremy Kyle Show was cancelled in 2019 after airing 3,320 episodes over 17 series.
