Prince Harry has returned to the UK to attend the annual WellChild Awards in London, but do you think Meghan Markle should be by his side? Vote in our poll to have your say!
Prince Harry will return to the UK alone to attend an award ceremony in London this evening, but do you think Meghan Markle should have joined him?
The Duke of Sussex is scheduled to attend the annual WellChild Awards, which celebrates the achievements and resilience of seriously ill youngsters and their families. Harry has been a patron for the charity for more than 15 years, and is expected to present the Most Inspirational Child (aged four to six) award and deliver a short speech.
In a statement, Harry shared: “I am once again honoured to attend this year’s WellChild Awards celebrating the remarkable courage and achievements of children living with complex medical needs. These incredible young people, along with the dedicated caregivers, nurses, and professionals who tirelessly support them, inspire us all. It is a true privilege to recognise such extraordinary individuals.”
While the Duchess of Sussex accompanied Harry to the 2019 WellChild awards, it has been reported that Meghan will remain in the US with the couple’s two children this year. Meghan has not returned to the UK since the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022, despite Harry making multiple trips to his home country alone.
Most recently, the Duke attended the funeral of his uncle Lord Robert Fellowes, where it’s understood he and Prince William didn’t talk after the service, despite virtually standing ‘back-to-back’. Royal author and expert Tom Quinn told the Mirror last month that Meghan will only return to the UK under one ‘major condition’.
He said: “Meghan has said she’s only prepared to return to England if she and Harry have a place of their own and the security they both feel is essential. Meghan will never return to the UK and stay with her husband‘s relatives. If the couple manage to find a permanent home and sort out the security issue they will certainly want to bring their children to the UK but it’s going to take a lot of diplomacy to get to the point where Archie and Lili are able to develop a genuine and warm relationship with their cousins George, Charlotte and Louis.”
Harry, 40, has previously expressed concerns over secrity when it comes to his young family, and, in an interview with ITV , stated that he couldn’t “bring [his] wife back to this country” due to fears over safety.
