Meghan Markle was keen to become a ‘superstar’

Meghan Markle was keen to become a ‘superstar’ following royal exit

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left the Royal Family in 2020 and moved to the United States. While the couple claimed they wanted privacy, one expert believes it was quite the opposite for the former actress.

Meghan Markle had her sights set on becoming a “superstar” after stepping back from royal duties with Prince Harry, suggests an expert.

The Sussexes bid farewell to their royal responsibilities in 2020 and relocated to the United States. Despite their claims of seeking privacy, an expert speculates that the former Suits actress was actually craving more attention.

A pundit suggested that Meghan was far more receptive to a life under the spotlight, unlike Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who have chosen a more “quiet” existence.

Jane Barr, writing in the From Berkshire to Buckingham newsletter, argued that the concept of Harry and Meghan being “half in, half out” in terms of their royal duties was unfeasible and maintained that Harry wasn’t merely treated as a “spare”, reports the Mirror.

She proposed: “She [Meghan] would not have been content with the ultimately quiet or truly independent/non-royal lives that William and Harry’s cousins actually lead. Reflecting on Megxit, Harry was not just the grandson of the Queen, the same relationship all his cousins share with the sovereign, he was the son of the future King.

“William and Harry were – from birth – preeminent royals, while their cousins, although celebrated, surely, began as secondary royals and only continued to fade as the years passed by. Harry seems so bitter about being the spare, but he has always held a higher rank than his cousins, and was treated accordingly.”

Barr commented on the unique nature of Harry and Meghan’s departure from official duties, contrasting it with other royals such as Beatrice and Eugenie, who maintain regular employment and lack flashy, lucrative deals. “Meghan wanted to take her HRH and her title and be a superstar in her own sphere on the international stage,” she remarked, highlighting that Meghan sought a role “wholly separate from the control of the Crown.”

The Sussexes are currently engaged in various initiatives under their substantial Netflix agreement. Meghan is in the process of producing a lifestyle and culinary series, while Harry is developing a documentary focused on his beloved sport of polo.
