Sussex Power Shift? Meghan Markle No Longer ‘Wearing the Pants’ in Prince Harry’s ‘Boring’ Polo Series

For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a fresh perspective has emerged suggesting a shift in their relationship dynamics.

Darren Stanton, a renowned body language expert often dubbed the “Human Lie Detector,” has analyzed the couple’s brief appearance in their latest Netflix docuseries POLO. His observations indicate that Harry now appears as the “more dominant one” in their interactions.

Stanton’s expertise stems from his background in psychology and his tenure as a police officer, where he honed his skills in detecting deception. Transitioning to media consultancy, he has scrutinized numerous public figures, including members of the royal family. In POLO, Stanton notes a discernible change, “It’s important for Harry to be seen as the one who is more dominant and powerful. Meghan has previously been seen to wear the trousers in their relationship, which has affected his reputation.”

He further elaborates, “If we take a closer look at some of the posture and actions we see, Harry is taking the lead.”

This analysis contrasts with earlier perceptions of their relationship, where Meghan was often viewed as the guiding force. Their public displays of affection, such as in Colombia in August, and Meghan’s assertive presence had led many to believe she was the primary decision-maker. Stanton’s insights suggest a rebalancing, with Harry stepping into a more assertive role.

POLO, which premiered on Netflix, offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of polo, featuring elite players competing in the U.S. Open Polo Championship.

Despite the anticipation surrounding the series, it has faced criticism for its lack of engaging content. The Telegraph described it as a “tedious inside look” at the sport, awarding it two stars and commenting, “There’s lots of blood, sweat, and tears in the series — but not enough of the Sussexes to make this anything other than a dull indulgence about a rich person’s hobby.”

The Sussexes’ limited screen time in the series has also been a point of contention. The rebel Duke appears briefly in the opening credits of the first episode and re-emerges only in the fifth and final episode, where Meghan makes a fleeting appearance. This minimal involvement has left fans yearning for more insights into their lives and perspectives.

As OK! previously reported, the couple’s biggest and thus far only hit with documentary production came with their 2022 Netflix series Harry & Meghan, which delved into their personal experiences and challenges within the royal family. While that series garnered significant attention, POLO seems to have missed the mark in captivating audiences.
