Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Allegedly Set Their Sights on a Quaint Abode in Portugal

While life in California has turned out to be less of a fairy tale and more like a sitcom, the Sussexes are reportedly on the hunt for a new home in the sun. Living in Montecito was apparently just too mainstream for them.

According to reports, the couple supposedly splashed out over $4.7 million on a property in the Algarve region at the Costa Teré Golf and Ocean Club, a sprawling 722-acre development located about 81 miles south of Lisbon, which is said to be a hotbed of high-end living.Former palace staffer Grant Harrold weighed in on the Sussexes’ rumored move, suggesting it indicates they’re edging their way back toward the UK. Apparently, the glitz and glamour of American life weren’t as shiny as they had hoped. “It’s not that Harry and Meghan are fleeing their problems; they’re just gracefully moving towards the UK like a royal boomerang.

In the U.S., there are so many people that move away and then move back, so I don’t think there would be anything unusual about Harry and Meghan leaving the U.S. for Europe,” Harrold told the New York Post. He added that perhaps living in the States wasn’t what they thought it would be, which could explain their rumored return to the UK.

But why Portugal of all places? Could it be that the Portuguese climate offers the same year-round warmth as California? Or perhaps the couple hopes to reconnect with royal roots by following in the footsteps of previous royals who’ve settled abroad.

After all, we all remember Princess Margaret’s frequent jaunts to the Algarve, don’t we? Harry seems to be trying to keep up with royal tradition, one overpriced plot of land at a time.

Before they can unpack their designer luggage in Portugal, Harry and Meghan face the minor obstacle of acquiring European Union citizenship. Harrold assures us that their business ventures can very much continue wherever they are in the world.

So, if there’s a way to manage their finances while simultaneously dodging pesky American tabloids, our favorite couple will surely figure it out eventually.

And let’s not forget about Meghan’s ambitious lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. The launch date has been mysteriously postponed, presumably lost somewhere between trademark disputes and other realities. With every new venture mired in uncertainty, one has to wonder how they plan to juggle their Hollywood connections and maintain celebrity friendships across the pond.

Will stars like Oprah and the Clooneys be making the trip to Portugal for the next big soirée?

However, the whole Portugal property saga smells a bit fishy. Many have questioned the legitimacy of this rumored home, suggesting it’s simply another cleverly crafted PR narrative to distract from ongoing controversies and scandals. Can we get a receipt for this purchase? After all, it’s not every day you hear about a lavish new home in a still-developing neighborhood—especially one that no one’s seen yet.

Could this be yet another classic Markle ploy to remain relevant in the ever-competitive realm of celebrity news? Portugal isn’t magically going to transform the Sussexes’ lives; they might be hoping a change of scenery will sprinkle some fairy dust on their public image, but wherever they go, they’ll always bring their unique brand of chaos with them.
