Victoria Beckham and David ‘morphed into British royals,’ A-list star claims

Victoria Beckham and David Beckham have been compared to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by Bethenny Frankel following the release of the professional footballer’s self-titled Netflix documentary in October.

US star Bethenny Frankel has suggested The Beckhams went from regular celebrities to British royalty.

The former Real Housewives of New York star, 53, said after the on-screen star watched David Beckham’s documentary she saw a different side to Victoria Beckham which she had not witnessed before during her Just B podcast which aired on November 17.

“Her trajectory from a Spice Girl is so interesting,” Bethenny commented. “She was so outgoing, loved being forward facing, loved the attention.”

She continued: “It was like she morphed into this persona of a celebrity. She became almost royal. I know they were friends with Harry and Meghan. They are close with the royals but when you see Victoria Beckham, as a Spice Girl, she is like any other famous girl.”

Bethenny went on: “She’s pretty, she’s striking. You get why David was attracted to her.”

But the entrepreneur insisted that as their star power increased, Victoria, 49, began to retreat and became “almost royal”.

“As they got into a very public and fashionable relationship, you see her retreat. Smile less and become more serious, more royal,” she noted.

“I say that because there is a veil on certain royal people. Meghan and Harry had a veil until they defected. There is an allure. There was something mysterious and impenetrable when you didn’t know anything about them.

“I felt that way about David and Victoria. The Kate and William’s, Harry and Meghan’s had an allure.”

Bethenny believed the release of the Beckham documentary, which was reportedly Netflix’s most-watched show, has seen “the veil being lifted”, as she claimed the couple adopted a more Kardashian-style approach to being public figures with the rise of TikTok.

“Victoria [Beckham] is laughing, dancing with her husband,” she commented. “We know everything about her. Her dad drove a Rolls Royce and she wanted to be middle-class. Now, I’m in their dirty bag of laundry.”

The former reality star also referenced David’s alleged affair with Rebecca Loos – which he has vehemently denied – suggesting we know too much about the Beckhams.

In the four-part Netflix documentary series, Beckham, they candidly talk about the highs and lows of almost three decades in the public eye, and the challenges their marriage has faced along the way.
