Tank Davis hits back at Mike Tyson for claiming the only similarity between them is getting in trouble with police: I have “more skills” than Mike Tyson

Gervonta Davis maintains that he possesses “greater skills” than Mike Tyson, despite the boxing icon’s recent dismissal of any comparisons between them.

At the height of his abilities, Tyson was an unstoppable force in the heavyweight division, mercilessly defeating his opponents and ultimately becoming the undisputed champion.

Today, Davis boasts an equally impressive knockout record, having secured stoppages in 26 out of his 28 victories, maintaining a flawless record. The boxing world is excited after his highly anticipated bout with Ryan Garcia that took place on April 22.

When Tyson was recently asked about whether ‘Tank’ deserved to be compared to him, the 56-year-old responded by suggesting that the only reason they could be associated is their shared notoriety for legal issues. He remarked, “I don’t know. Maybe just getting in trouble with the law. Other than that, no.”

Davis has had multiple arrests throughout the years, and he is presently awaiting sentencing, as he could potentially face imprisonment due to a hit-and-run case that has been under investigation since November 2020.

On the other hand, in 1992, Tyson was found guilty of the rape of Desiree Washington and received a six-year prison sentence. However, he served only three years before being released and subsequently continued his illustrious boxing career, ultimately earning a place in the Boxing Hall of Fame.

Davis concurred with Tyson’s dismissal of comparisons between them and took to social media to assert that he possesses even greater skills than the legendary fighter. Quoting Tyson’s comments, Davis wrote, “I agree. I have more skills.”

However, it is worth noting that despite this apparent exchange of words between the two boxers, Tyson has previously been highly complimentary when asked about Davis in interviews.

In 2021, Tyson declared that Davis is the “greatest fighter around” and went as far as to suggest that the 5ft 5in knockout specialist possesses even more punching power than former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

Furthermore, earlier this year, Tyson reiterated his praise for Davis, labeling him a “great fighter” and predicting that he will attain legendary status if he continues to pursue his career in the sport.

Tyson stated, “Tank is a great fighter. He’ll be a legend too if he keeps fighting.”

At the age of 28, Davis has the opportunity to take a significant stride towards achieving legendary status by defeating Garcia in their upcoming highly anticipated bout, which marks the biggest fight of their respective careers. The pay-per-view price for this event has been set at $84.99.

Following the fight with Garcia, Davis has his sights set on potential matchups with boxing talents such as Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson, and Vasyl Lomachenko. These potential bouts would further enhance his already remarkable legacy within the sport.
