He has come under criticism amid the 30-year age gap between them and ex-cruiserweight champ Bellew is the latest to hit out.

Bellew, 41, told SpinBet: “I am worried about it personally, but listen, you don’t know what’s been agreed between the two.

“It’s frightening that Mike Tyson is going back into a boxing ring against somebody who is more than 30 years younger than him. It’s just a bit nuts.

“I’m hoping that the fight is a bit of a circus and a bit scripted because I wouldn’t want to see Mike get hurt in any way shape or form.

“Let’s see what happens. He is going to be getting paid an awful lot of money and nobody has the right to stop him from doing that.”

Paul is 9-1 as a boxer, suffering his only defeat last year to Tommy Fury, 24, before bouncing back with three straight wins.

Tyson meanwhile retired in 2005 officially but did return in 2020 to draw over eight exhibition rounds with fellow great Roy Jones Jr.

Despite the fact Iron Mike will be 58 by the time of the bout, Paul insisted it will be his toughest test to date.

He said on his podcast: “I am biting off a lot.

“This is definitely the toughest, most savage, lethal opponent regardless of age, because the power is the last thing to go.

“But the reaction and reception of it is insane. I almost can’t even believe it, so very surreal and very, very grateful for all of that.”
