Drake loses eye-watering SIX-FIGURE bet on Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz fight

Chart-topping musician Drake lost a six-figure bet on Saturday night’s Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz bout.

Months after a first-career defeat to Tommy Fury, YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul got back in the win column by overcoming Diaz by unanimous decision.

Paul, dubbed ‘The Problem Child’, dropped the UFC legend in round five and survived a late flurry to earn a resounding 97-92, 98-91, and 98-91 victory.

While both men have respective beef to settle, with Fury and Conor McGregor waiting in the wings, Paul called for a rematch in MMA against Diaz, a proposition the UFC fighter appeared open to.

It was a costly night for Drake, however, who lost a huge $250,000 (£196,000) bet.

The hit-maker had previously complimented the Paul brothers’ foray into combat sports. However, he told fans on social media that he couldn’t resist lumping the eye-watering sum on Diaz ahead of Saturday’s fight.

Writing on Instagram, Drake shared a photo of his bet slip, with the caption: “Jake is a dog but I can never bet against a Diaz brother. That’s just how I was raised.”

During his pre-fight promotion, Paul hit back at the ‘God’s Plan’ singer’s prediction, writing on social media: “Drake losing his bet should have played Betr Picks.”

And Paul was ultimately proved correct.

Of course, Drake has previously put massive sums on different UFC and boxing fights and frequently lost gigantic amounts through his partnership with online bookie Stake.

The 36-year-old previously bet $400,000 (£313,000) on Paul to beat Love Island star and professional boxer Fury, only for the former to be handed his first defeat.

Before that, Drake lost a series of six-figure bets on Jorge Masvidal against Colby Covington and Justin Gaethje’s world title loss to Charles Oliveira.

Of course, the Canadian, whose net worth is widely reported to be in the region of £200million, has also claimed enormous wins in his time. In March, Drake backed UFC legend Jon Jones to become a two-weight champion in his heavyweight title comeback against Ciryl Gane.

The 36-year-old staked £196,000 on ‘Bones’ to win by submission, which he did within the first round and also £196,000 for him to win by knockout.
