Could be several things. 1) Doria was not the primary parent for many years and in fact, some say it is because Doria committed tax fraud and was in prison. I have no idea if this is true 2) Doria has benefitted financially from Meghan’s marriage – Meghan set up an LLC for Doria and it’s likely that’s how Meghan “pays” her mother. 3) Meghan has cut off all ties with her father for reasons that could be seen as petty – he posed for some photos for the press – after he spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on her upbringing and education. At the same time, Doria chided him in the Netflix series, saying. “That’s not a parent,” in regards to him selling the photos despite the fact that she in fact was a pot smoking, often absent, tax frauding, parent. People think because Meghan pays Doria, Doria will say anything for her which seems pretty dysfunctional to me – that’s not a mother/daughter relationship.

My personal feeling is that both Doria and Meghan are hustlers and con-artists and that Doria taught Meghan the skills to manipulate and dupe.
