Loose Women star Denise Welch left her fellow panellists momentarily lost for words after sharing a risque detail about her love life. The ex-Coronation Street actress was in the midst of a conversation about rekindling romance when she divulged the personal anecdote on Tuesday, May 28. In a discussion with Charlene White, Katie Piper, and Brenda Edwards, Denise, 66, opened up about her husband Lincoln Townley, 51. She light-heartedly remarked that he “has always been, urm, into older women, so he got his dream on my 66th birthday obviously.”

Laughter ensued from the audience as Denise continued: “It’s difficult because it’s half-term and they give us this topic to talk about but, when we first got together, everything was active, a lot of the time. To the point that we once had to pull into a hotel to be more active for an hour and then drive on.” Her co-hosts were visibly shocked by the frank confession, their expressions a mix of astonishment and bewilderment, reports the Mirror.

Denise went on: “We don’t necessarily do that anymore, but it’s still important to us. But when I think about keeping the spark, I don’t think it’s just about always the sexual spark.” Once the initial surprise wore off, Charlene regained her poise, while Brenda showed signs of embarrassment – Katie, on the other hand, found humour in the bold disclosure. Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news

Denise, who is the proud mum of The 1975’s lead singer Matty Healy, was captured grooving under the sun in a holiday video, sporting chic white and gold-heeled wedges. Smiling broadly for the camera, she shared a heartfelt Instagram post to commemorate her special day.

On Instagram, Denise shared her excitement: “Today I celebrate becoming an ‘old age pensioner’ with a birthday boomerang! ! ! I’m 66! ! ! WTAF? ? ! ! ! But I’m grateful to have got this far! ! It’s taken a lot of ups and downs to get here but here I am and very happy.”

Reflecting on her life, Denise wrote: “A wonderful marriage to @lincolntownley, 3 amazing sons, Matty, Louis and Lewis. My sister and my nieces and nephews. The Townleys. A grandson Theo and I’ve been free from clinical depression for 5 yrs!” She also acknowledged the mixed emotions tied to the date, noting it as the anniversary of her mother’s death: “Of course May 22nd will always be bittersweet as it’s 12 years today since Mum died.”

Discussing her late mother’s influence, she said: “She would have been 88 this year and believe me, she would still be wearing swimwear and looking fabulous! ! I hope she’d be proud that I’m sober, still working hard in my chosen profession and still getting my t**s out for the lads! ! !” Signing off with a tribute to her mother, she stated: “And lasses to be fair as I have to keep my lesbian friends happy! ! ! Happy birthday to me and miss you loads mama! ! Love you.” You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
