Toto Wolff stands firmly in defence of Lewis Hamilton, responding to recent criticisms by dismissing the ‘unfair’ comparisons made between Hamilton’s performance and Ferrari’s achievements, and emphasising the distinct challenges faced by his team in this highly competitive Formula 1 season.

Toto Wolff Breaks His Silence: Why Comparing Lewis Hamilton and Kimmy Antonelli Is Premature

In the high-octane world of Formula 1, narratives form quickly and sometimes unfairly. With Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, moving from Mercedes to Ferrari, and young rookie Kimmy Antonelli stepping into Hamilton’s former seat at Mercedes, comparisons were inevitable. However, Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team principal, has finally spoken out, urging fans and pundits to pump the brakes on drawing conclusions too soon.

    Two Very Different Stories

Lewis Hamilton’s legacy in Formula 1 is monumental. The British driver didn’t just compete; he transformed Mercedes into an unstoppable force. From 2014 through 2020, Hamilton’s name was synonymous with victory, championships, and record-breaking performances. Yet, this year, joining Ferrari—a team that has struggled to find its footing in recent years—has presented fresh challenges for the seasoned veteran.

Meanwhile, Kimmy Antonelli, a teenage phenom, took a monumental leap into F1, replacing arguably the greatest driver in the sport’s history. At just 18 years old, Antonelli’s entry into the top tier of motorsport has been met with tremendous hype but also intense scrutiny. The pressure to perform immediately is immense, but as Wolff points out, it’s unrealistic to expect the rookie to match Hamilton’s achievements instantly.

Hamilton’s Struggles and Moments of Brilliance

Hamilton’s 2025 season has been a mixed bag. While he has shown flashes of brilliance, like securing pole position and a sprint race victory in China, consistent podium finishes have eluded him. His transition to Ferrari has not been seamless. The team’s performance limitations and reliability issues have left Hamilton fighting to regain his rhythm.

Toto Wolff candidly acknowledges these struggles but highlights Hamilton’s undiminished talent. “When the stars align, Lewis still dances in a different dimension,” Wolff told TSN. This was evident in China, where Hamilton’s pace and racecraft reminded the world why he remains a force to be reckoned with. But outside these moments, the absence of regular podiums and title contention has frustrated Ferrari’s passionate fanbase and put the pressure squarely on Hamilton’s shoulders.

The Rookie Rising: Kimmy Antonelli’s Journey

On the other hand, Kimmy Antonelli’s rookie season has been a steep learning curve. Scoring 48 points and sitting P7 in the championship standings is impressive for an 18-year-old rookie, especially considering the immense pressure of filling Hamilton’s shoes at Mercedes. However, Antonelli’s path hasn’t been smooth.

Three consecutive weekends without points, including Did Not Finishes (DNFs) in Imola and Barcelona, and a notable collision in Monaco, showcased the harsh realities of Formula 1. But Wolff’s assessment of Antonelli’s maturity and mental resilience stands out. “Welcome to real F1,” he said, noting the rookie’s “measured, mature response” to adversity.

Antonelli’s mindset reflects a future champion’s approach: no panic, just focus and fight. With Canada presenting a fresh challenge due to its unique track characteristics and tire demands, Wolff sees potential for a reset—a chance for Antonelli to begin climbing a steeper performance curve.

    Why the Comparisons Are Unfair

At the heart of Wolff’s message is the idea that comparing these two drivers at this stage isn’t just unfair; it’s misguided. Hamilton, despite his challenges, is adapting to a new team and environment, something that naturally takes time, even for a driver of his caliber. Antonelli, meanwhile, is a raw talent still absorbing the complexities and demands of Formula 1.

“The comparison with Lewis is not fair to either of them,” Wolff said. “Kimmy’s not the new king, and Lewis he’s not washed.” This statement serves as a reminder that narratives built too quickly can be misleading and damaging, particularly to a young driver trying to find his place.

Both Stories Are Still Being Written

Formula 1 careers are marathons, not sprints. Hamilton’s record speaks for itself, but Wolff warns that his story at Ferrari is far from over. With experience, skill, and a proven ability to overcome adversity, Hamilton could yet rise from the challenges he faces in 2025.

Antonelli’s story, on the other hand, is just beginning. If he can connect the dots—learning from mistakes, adapting quickly, and harnessing his raw speed—he could become a formidable competitor in the years ahead.

The Bigger Picture: Patience and Perspective

What Wolff ultimately advocates is patience. Fans, media, and stakeholders alike should resist the temptation to create a simplistic “fairy tale versus flop” narrative. Instead, understanding the unique circumstances each driver faces is crucial.

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari represents a new chapter, one with different dynamics, teammates, and expectations. Meanwhile, Antonelli’s rookie year is naturally marked by highs and lows as he gains experience.

By urging calm and perspective, Wolff reminds us that F1 is a complex sport where success is rarely immediate. The pressures of history, expectation, and team dynamics require time to navigate.

    Conclusion

Toto Wolff’s recent comments provide a much-needed voice of reason amid the swirling comparisons between Lewis Hamilton and Kimmy Antonelli. Both drivers are navigating vastly different challenges at different points in their careers. While Hamilton adjusts to a new team environment, Antonelli is still carving out his path in Formula 1’s elite arena.

Rather than rushing to judgment, Wolff calls for patience and a focus on the broader journey. In a sport defined by speed and split-second decisions, it’s worth remembering that careers are built over seasons, not just a handful of races.

Whether it’s Hamilton’s quest to restore Ferrari’s glory or Antonelli’s climb towards greatness, the unfolding stories are far from finished—and that’s what makes this season truly compelling.

Robert Sugden’s recent scenes have left Emmerdale fans fearing the worst, amid hopes of a reunion with Aaron Dingle.

Ryan Hawley reprised his role in a shocking twist just weeks ago, six years after he left the ITV soap. His character Robert was sent to prison in 2019 over the death of Lee Posner, with it not thought he would ever come back.

But just weeks ago he turned up in the village to stop his ex Aaron marrying new flame, and Robert’s mysterious half-brother, John Sugden. More is to come out about Robert’s return and what’s been going on since he left, with scenes next week seeing Robert and Aaron have a heart-to-heart.

We know that Robert was released early, with it suggested this was down to him finally appealing his conviction after new evidence suggested he may not have caused Lee’s death, or at least his actions alone. He came to get Aaron back and return to life in the village having initially decided he wanted none of that.

But now some fans are fearing there could be more to it, and his sudden desire to come back to the village and be with Aaron. He’d learned about the truth about Lee’s death a while back, but only chose to appeal this year.

Then a scene with brother John in a recent episode saw him punched in the stomach after a fight broke out. Robert had swung a punch to hurt John but completely missed, only to then be hit by John.

Robert was clearly in pain and crouched over clutching his stomach. The camera focussed in on his face and his reaction to the punch, and it seemed it really hurt.

Some fans noticed this and wondered if it was almost an overreaction to the hit, and they worried if the pain was caused by something else. They were also shocked by Robert’s clumsy attack on John, with fans predicting there could be a health storyline on the cards.

While there is nothing in spoilers to suggest so, viewers are starting to fear over his real reason for leaving prison now and returning to the village after so long. They questioned if a sad health storyline could be on the way and that Robert could be sick.

One fan posted on X: “Not to write the scripts myself but it’s interesting Robert missed the punch that poorly and John’s punch to his gut really hurt him that he had to recover. Comparing it to how he used to always pick fights. Is Ryan finally getting a big health storyline?”

Another fan responded: “THIS IS WHAT IM SAYINGGGGGG,” as a third agreed: “I’m pretty certain he’ll have a mental health journey and possibly a drinking problem.” A fourth viewer commented: “Was it discussed why he was released early? Because his health being bad could be a reason why?”

A further comment read: “I kept noticing how they focused on his face. I have a theory that his early release could have been the unsafe conviction plus compassionate release for illness.”

Another post said: “I thought I was the only person to notice after the punch something seemed off. I feel this big secret is a health issue.” This was echoed by another viewer who said: “I thought that too. I think maybe something happened to Robert in prison. I think there’s a story to be told here.”

Former This Morning editor Martin Frizell has paid tribute to a former guest who is thought to have died in the Air India crash earlier today. It comes following the news of the fatal flight.

Fiongal Greenlaw, 39, and his husband Jamie Meek, 45, are thought to have been on board the flight, bound for London’s Gatwick Airport, which went down shortly after take-off. They are said to have been on holiday in India.

The couple co-founded a wellness brand together, which had been promoted on This Morning. Martin, 66, who had been the editor of the ITV show until he stepped down earlier this year, paid tribute in a post on Instagram this afternoon.

He included a photo of Fiongal alongside hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley in the studio. Martin wrote in the caption that he had a “vibrancy” and “sheer enthusiasm” when he had featured as a guest on the show back in January.

Martin wrote: “So so sad to hear that Fiongal Greenlaw Meek and his partner are reported to be among the passengers and crew killed today on board the Air India flight bound for Gatwick. I remember his visit to the studio in January, he was passionate about auras and although I’m a sceptical sort his vibrancy and sheer enthusiasm won folk over.”

He continued: “And I know for a fact that he hoped to use his appearance on This Morning to build his Wellness brand, he had a great future ahead of him. Thoughts are with his family and friends and those of his partner Jamie.”

Among those who have liked Martin’s post is Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid. Lisa Snowdon, who has appeared on the show on numerous occasions, reacted in the comments with a teary-eyed emoji and one of a broken heart.

Fiongal appeared as a guest on This Morning in January. During the episode, he gave hosts Ben and Cat a reading over their auras. Martin was still the editor of the long-running show at the time, prior to his final day in the role in February.

The guest later returned following Martin’s departure for another segment. He was brought back as a spiritual advisor on the show in April, with him appearing alongside Ben, Cat and Josie Gibson in the TV studio based in London.

After his first visit, a post shared by his wellness brand the Wellness Foundry on Instagram read: “So this happened … The biggest gig so far! Fiongal on This Morning – it was very nerve-wracking but he was honoured to chat about one of his favourite topics to such a big audience.”

In an apparent message for him, the post on the platform continued: “Thank you to everyone [at] This Morning for being so amazing and guiding me through. Thank you to [Cat and Ben] for being so kind and welcoming.”

Fiongal and Jamie are among those thought to have died in the plane crash earlier today. As previously reported, the couple had posted a video from Ahmedabad airport just moments before boarding the plane.

They had been visiting India together. In the video shared from the airport, Fiongal and Jamie were seen smiling as they prepared to fly home. They are said to have spoken about their time away together in the video message.

In the clip, Fiongal reportedly says: “We are at the airport just boarding. Goodbye India. Ten-hour flight back to England. What was your biggest takeaway Jamie?” Jamie replies: “I don’t know.” It prompts laughter from Fiongal, who responds to his husband: “Thanks for your contribution.”

Fiongal then teases that his takeaway was “don’t lose your patience with your partner”. Jamie replies: “You snapped at me at the airport for having chai.” Surrounded by fellow travellers, the clip ends with Fiongal saying he’s returning to the UK “happily, happily calm”.

  • George Russell reflects on the notable careers of Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and Michael Schumacher, highlighting the rare experience of top drivers who have yet to contest for a World Championship title despite their talent and longevity in Formula 1 racing.

George Russell reflects on the notable careers of Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and Michael Schumacher, highlighting the rare experience of top drivers who have yet to contest for a World Championship title despite their talent and longevity in Formula 1 racing.

George Russell believes that several all-time greats, including Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, and Sebastian Vettel, experienced career droughts, something he hopes to avoid. In an interview with Motorsport Total, the Mercedes driver said he wants to make the most of his current spell with the team.

With no contract confirmed for the 2026 season, Russell is focused on maximizing his performance this year. He pointed out that while multiple world champions like Vettel and Alonso were dominant for certain periods, their careers eventually hit a plateau. In contrast, Schumacher had to wait five seasons before clinching titles with Ferrari. Alonso has competed in Formula 1 for 25 seasons but has only two championships to his name. Vettel won four titles with Red Bull and came close to fighting for more at Ferrari. As for Schumacher, Russell noted that he had to build an entire team around him at Ferrari, and success came only after years of effort.

Looking ahead, Russell said that if he is re-signed, 2025 would mark his fifth season with Mercedes, and he hopes it will be one where he can make a meaningful impact. He believes that consistent performances at a competitive level are key to longevity in F1. With the sport’s unpredictability, he emphasized the importance of seizing every opportunity.

Asked if he could be a dominating driver in the top team in the future, George Russell said:

“Look at Fernando [Alonso]. He comes in, wins two titles in his first four years, and people say, ‘He’s going to get ten. He hasn’t won a title since. Or Sebastian [Vettel]: He wins four and then no more. If you look at Michael Schumacher, it took him five years at Ferrari before he won his first title there. This is now my fourth year at Mercedes, next year will be my fifth. Nobody knows when their time will come. You just have to make sure that you keep performing consistently, keep delivering. And what happens then, only time will tell.”

Russell also shared his thoughts on his relationship with Lewis Hamilton post his departure from Mercedes.

George Russell reckons the relationship with Lewis Hamilton has grown since leaving Mercedes

George Russell believes his relationship with Lewis Hamilton has grown closer since the seven-time world champion joined Ferrari. He shared that the former Mercedes teammates still travel together to races and often speak off track. Russell suggested that Hamilton is a different person away from the spotlight and fame of Formula 1. He admitted to cherishing Hamilton’s company and their rapport, adding that the 40-year-old is one of the best people to turn to for career advice.

Asked if his bond with Lewis Hamilton had faded away after his departure from Mercedes, George Russell said:

“No — if anything, it’s actually become a bit closer. We sometimes fly together and talk to each other more often off the track. Lewis is someone whose company I really enjoy. Of course, he’s extremely in the limelight, more than any of us and sometimes a protective shield goes up. But in an intimate setting, he’s someone I get on really well with. It’s nice to have someone like him, someone I can ask for advice from time to time, because he’s at a completely different stage in his career.”

George Russell has outperformed Lewis Hamilton in two of the three seasons they have raced together at Mercedes. In 2025, he continues to lead the seven-time world champion in the Drivers’ Championship, sitting fourth with a total of 111 points, while Hamilton is sixth with 71 points. However, Ferrari has leapfrogged Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship, with the Maranello team now second on 165 points, while the Brackley-based outfit is third with 159 points.

  • A major shift has taken place at Ferrari as Lewis Hamilton discovers that he is no longer considered the team’s top priority. This surprising development marks a significant change in Ferrari’s strategy and could impact Hamilton’s future prospects with the iconic racing team.

A major shift has taken place at Ferrari as Lewis Hamilton discovers that he is no longer considered the team’s top priority. This surprising development marks a significant change in Ferrari’s strategy and could impact Hamilton’s future prospects with the iconic racing team.

Lewis Hamilton: The Seven-Time World Champion Navigating Ferrari’s Complex Terrain

Lewis Hamilton is no stranger to greatness. With seven Formula 1 World Championships under his belt, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport. His dominance at Mercedes, where he became the face of an era, is undeniable. Yet, as Hamilton embarks on a new chapter with Ferrari, the landscape around him has shifted dramatically. The man who once stood as the architect, icon, and identity of his team now finds himself an outsider in Maranello’s intricate ecosystem.

From Mercedes Monarch to Ferrari Outsider

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was met with excitement and high expectations. The Scuderia, a team steeped in tradition and history, seemed a perfect fit for the driver eager to chase further glory. However, the reality on the ground tells a more complex story. At Mercedes, Hamilton was the undisputed centerpiece. The car was built around him, the team culture revolved around his leadership, and his dominance was never questioned. In contrast, Ferrari’s current focus is a rising star — Charles Leclerc, the team’s golden boy and local hero.

Charles Leclerc is not only a talented driver but also a figure deeply embedded in Ferrari’s culture and politics. Fluent in the “native dialect” of Maranello — both literally and figuratively — Leclerc embodies the future Ferrari wants to build. He has quickly become the nucleus around which the team’s strategy and energy revolve, making it a challenging environment for Hamilton to navigate.

Nine Races, Zero Podiums: A Statement in Maranello

The 2025 season’s first nine races saw Hamilton unable to secure a podium finish, a stark contrast to his previously consistent top-tier performances. The struggles are not just about car performance or racing conditions but also about his place within the team hierarchy. A striking example was the Spanish Grand Prix, where Hamilton was asked to move over for Leclerc, reinforcing the clear pecking order at Ferrari.

This isn’t merely a slow start to the season; it’s a declaration of the internal power dynamics. According to former team principal and paddock insider, Éric Boullier, Hamilton is learning “the hard way” that at Ferrari, trophies alone don’t guarantee family status.

Echoes of 2007: History Repeats Itself

Boullier draws a comparison to the infamous 2007 season at McLaren, where Fernando Alonso, a two-time world champion, found himself overshadowed by a young Lewis Hamilton, then the newcomer. That year was marked by tension, political intrigue, and a toxic atmosphere within the team. Now, the tables have turned. Hamilton is the veteran struggling to find his footing, while Leclerc commands the spotlight and the strategic favors of the team.

The role reversal is a stark reminder that in Formula 1, talent alone is not enough. Understanding the team’s politics, aligning with its culture, and earning the trust of key decision-makers are just as crucial as speed on the track.

The Politics of Maranello: Not Just About Speed

Ferrari’s internal culture is notoriously complex. It’s a team with passionate fans, high expectations, and a deeply entrenched sense of identity that often dictates decisions behind closed doors. Boullier’s candid remarks reveal a world where political savvy matters as much as driving skill.

Hamilton’s difficulties extend beyond performance. The team’s preference for Leclerc is not just about age or talent but also about shared history and familiarity. Leclerc is described as “fluent in the politics” of the team, while Hamilton is still finding his place. This cultural divide is proving to be a significant barrier.

Even off-track, Hamilton faces challenges fitting in. Boullier recalls how bringing in Roman Grosjean to Lotus once drew skepticism and ridicule, only for Grosjean to prove his worth later. This story underscores how patience and time are often in short supply at Ferrari, where the demand for immediate results is intense.

Prestige vs. Belonging: The Cultural Clash

At Mercedes, Hamilton was the undisputed star, the face of the team’s unprecedented success. At Ferrari, prestige does not necessarily translate into belonging. The cultural clash is evident — the prestige Hamilton carries as a seven-time world champion versus the deep-rooted sense of belonging and legacy that Ferrari nurtures through its academy and local talents.

This clash goes beyond individual ambition. It affects how the team approaches car development, strategy, and even public messaging. As Ferrari gears up for the revolutionary 2026 car regulations, this power dynamic could influence technical decisions and resource allocation, potentially impacting Hamilton’s chances of future success.

    Is Hamilton Still the GOAT?

There’s no denying Lewis Hamilton’s place in the pantheon of Formula 1 legends. His achievements speak for themselves — a record seven world titles, a plethora of race wins, pole positions, and a style that’s both aggressive and precise. Yet, the question arises: is he being treated like the GOAT at Ferrari?

The answer, for now, seems to be no. Hamilton is not the alpha in Maranello; that status belongs to Leclerc. But the respect for his skill and accomplishments remains intact. It’s just that respect alone doesn’t secure influence or team loyalty in a place as politically charged as Ferrari.

    The Road Ahead

Hamilton’s journey with Ferrari is a fascinating study of transition, adaptation, and the limits of reputation. He is learning that success in Formula 1 requires more than talent — it demands navigating complex team dynamics, cultural nuances, and political landscapes.

As the 2025 season unfolds and Ferrari looks ahead to 2026’s all-new car philosophy, Hamilton’s role within the team will be a storyline to watch. Will he break through the barriers and claim his rightful place at Ferrari? Or will he continue to wrestle with the reality that, in some houses, speed alone isn’t enough to become family?

    Conclusion

Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari is more than a change of teams; it’s a clash of cultures and philosophies. His seven world championships mark him as one of the greatest drivers ever, but at Maranello, the journey to acceptance and influence is proving to be an uphill battle. The man who once ruled at Mercedes is learning the hard truth of Ferrari’s internal politics and the power of its native son, Charles Leclerc.

Hamilton’s story at Ferrari is a reminder that in Formula 1, being fast is essential — but knowing whose house you’re walking into might just be the key to winning.

Ferrari’s Turmoil Deepens: Vasseur Under Intense Scrutiny as Leclerc’s Mercedes Connections Strengthen — Is Maranello on the Brink of a Major Shake-Up?

Ferrari’s Leadership Crisis: Is Fred Vasseur Running Out of Time?

As the Formula 1 world turns its attention toward the upcoming regulatory overhaul in 2026, Ferrari finds itself entering yet another period of uncertainty — a state that’s become uncomfortably familiar for the storied Italian marque. Despite high-profile moves, including the blockbuster signing of Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari’s trajectory has remained turbulent, with growing discontent from within its own camp. With team principal Fred Vasseur under increasing scrutiny, one question lingers heavily over Maranello: Is time running out for the Frenchman?

    The Drivers Are Not Happy

The first signs of internal discord began surfacing earlier in the 2025 season. Both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton have openly expressed dissatisfaction with the direction Ferrari is heading. While Leclerc — Ferrari’s long-time golden boy — is reportedly entertaining conversations with other teams for 2026, Hamilton’s frustration with the car and its performance has been evident in his race-day body language and post-race interviews.

Hamilton’s switch from Mercedes to Ferrari was hailed as one of the most significant moves in modern F1 history. Yet, his struggles to adapt to the SF-25, coupled with inconsistent team performance, have raised eyebrows across the paddock. In Spain, Hamilton was passed by a Sauber on pure pace — a deeply alarming result that triggered questions about Ferrari’s technical vision and decision-making.

    Engineering and Communication Failures

The core issue haunting Ferrari isn’t necessarily driver performance — it’s engineering clarity and internal communication. The SF-25 appears to be a difficult and unpredictable machine. Drivers have complained that their feedback is either not being heard or not being implemented. The team’s developmental inconsistencies — small updates with no tangible performance gains — have only added fuel to the fire.

This is perhaps where Vasseur is most vulnerable. While it’s unfair to blame one man for Ferrari’s broader systemic issues, team principals are judged by results and perception. And right now, neither is in his favor.

    The Shadow of 2026

Internally, Ferrari’s leadership is said to be split between focusing on short-term results in 2025 and long-term success in 2026. This contradiction is proving costly. While most of their rivals have either committed to the new regulatory era or are chasing championship points now, Ferrari seems stuck between two strategies — and excelling at neither.

Vasseur has stressed that potential lies within the car, but week after week, the team falls short. John Elkann, Ferrari’s Chairman, is growing increasingly impatient. His support, which once insulated Vasseur from the kind of media heat that unseated Mattia Binotto, is reportedly wavering.

Is Christian Horner a Realistic Replacement?

One of the names that continues to circle the rumor mill is Red Bull’s Christian Horner. Although he has publicly denied any interest in a Ferrari move, Formula 1’s political landscape is fluid. Horner’s experience, winning culture, and ability to navigate intra-team dynamics could make him an ideal fit. But his deep-rooted commitment to Red Bull makes any switch unlikely.

Still, Ferrari might test the waters again, especially if results in the second half of the 2025 season do not improve. But there’s an inherent risk: if Ferrari fails to secure a top-tier external candidate, what comes next?

    The Inside Option: Antonello Coletta

A more realistic — and perhaps more strategic — choice could be Antonello Coletta. Currently leading Ferrari’s Le Mans and WEC programs, Coletta has overseen two Le Mans victories and continues to guide Ferrari toward endurance dominance. He is respected within Maranello and deeply familiar with the Ferrari ecosystem.

Importantly, Coletta was offered the F1 team principal role before Vasseur but turned it down. However, with the team in disarray and his own track record of success more robust than ever, he could be persuaded to reconsider. His insider status, combined with a winning mentality, may be exactly what Ferrari needs to rebuild its foundation heading into the 2026 regulations.

    The Vasseur Dilemma

Replacing Vasseur isn’t a decision to take lightly. He has been involved in numerous strategic meetings and holds valuable knowledge about Ferrari’s 2026 project. Letting him go too early could lead to intellectual leakage, especially if he takes a gardening leave and then joins a rival. Yet, keeping him just for that knowledge, while losing driver confidence and morale, could prove even more damaging.

Ferrari is, by its nature, a political team. Changes often reflect both performance metrics and boardroom dynamics. With figures like Benedetto Vigna (CEO) and John Elkann reportedly losing patience, pressure is mounting fast.

Could Leclerc Be the Tipping Point?

One key variable in this equation is Charles Leclerc. If the Monégasque driver truly decides to leave after 2025, it would be a crushing blow to Ferrari — not just in terms of talent, but also brand image. Ferrari has built much of its recent identity around Leclerc. If he walks away citing lack of direction and leadership, it could be the final straw that forces Vasseur’s exit.

There’s growing speculation that Mercedes — now rebuilding post-Hamilton — may attempt to lure Leclerc as their next star. If that materializes, and if Hamilton continues to struggle, Ferrari could find itself with two disillusioned drivers, no clear leader, and a fanbase quickly losing faith.

A New Era, or the Same Old Ferrari?

The irony in all of this is that 2026 represents a clean slate. New engine regulations, chassis designs, and aero rules could level the playing field. Vasseur, in theory, is meant to be the architect of that future. But if 2025 continues to unravel, Ferrari’s leadership might decide they cannot afford to take that risk.

The team sits second in the constructors’ standings, but many would argue they don’t have the second-best car — McLaren has been outperforming them on merit, and Mercedes is clawing its way back into form. Ferrari, meanwhile, is showing cracks — not just in results, but in its entire operating philosophy.

    Conclusion: Change Is Inevitable

As we approach the halfway mark of the 2025 season, the signs are clear: Ferrari is at a crossroads. The tension between short-term results and long-term planning, between loyalty to Vasseur and the need for new leadership, is reaching a breaking point.

Vasseur may still have time to turn things around — especially if he can rally the team behind a coherent 2026 strategy and show tangible progress. But in a results-driven sport like Formula 1, time is always in short supply.

If Leclerc walks, if Hamilton’s frustrations deepen, and if podiums continue to slip away, Vasseur’s seat could become the hottest in the paddock. Whether it’s Christian Horner, Antonello Coletta, or another surprise name — Ferrari may soon be preparing for another leadership revolution.

Following Red Bull’s Shocking Announcement, Hadjar and Lindblad Face Uncertain Futures as the F1 Landscape Dramatically Shifts — Could Their Dreams Be Derailed or Redirected? Fans React to the Unexpected Twist That May Reshape the Future of Red Bull’s Junior Programme and the Road to Formula 1 Stardom.

A Shockwave at Red Bull: Could Arvid Lindblad Replace Verstappen in 2025?

In a stunning development that could send ripples across the Formula 1 grid, Red Bull Racing is reportedly preparing for a scenario that once seemed unthinkable: replacing Max Verstappen, even if just for a single race. The potential substitute? None other than 17-year-old Arvid Lindblad, a rising talent currently lighting up the Formula 2 championship. While on paper this may sound like a long-term grooming plan, whispers from the paddock suggest it might be more of a short-term contingency—with Verstappen himself dangerously close to an automatic one-race ban.

    Let’s unpack this explosive situation.

    Verstappen on the Brink

Max Verstappen is the reigning three-time world champion, the dominant force in Formula 1 for several seasons now. However, he is currently sitting on 11 of 12 possible penalty points on his super license. If he accumulates just one more point before June 30—when two of those points are due to expire—he’ll be handed a one-race suspension.

For a driver who races aggressively and often pushes the limits, the odds of collecting one more point in a mid-season showdown are more than plausible. Even Red Bull, known for their confidence in Verstappen’s talent and temperament, is not willing to gamble.

This is where Arvid Lindblad enters the frame.

    Lindblad’s Meteoric Rise

Lindblad has rapidly emerged as one of the brightest prospects in the Red Bull Junior Team. Despite skipping Formula 3 entirely, the British driver is already sitting third in the Formula 2 standings in his rookie year, with victories in Barcelona and Jeddah that have caught the eye of top paddock figures.

However, Lindblad isn’t even 18 yet, and therefore doesn’t automatically qualify for an FIA Super License—the key requirement to race in F1. Red Bull is actively lobbying the FIA to grant him a special exemption, similar to the one Andrea Kimi Antonelli received from Mercedes.

    Why the rush?

While Red Bull insists that the exemption request is about long-term development, the timing—coinciding with Verstappen’s looming ban—suggests a contingency plan may be in motion.

    Who Would Replace Verstappen?

If Verstappen is sidelined for a race, Red Bull has several options:

    1. Arvid Lindblad

Lindblad would be the boldest, most headline-grabbing choice. He has the pace and the pedigree, and giving him a race weekend in a top-tier car could fast-track his development. But putting a 17-year-old with no F1 experience into the championship-leading RB21 carries enormous risk.

    2. Isaac Hajar

A proven talent and currently outperforming expectations with Red Bull’s sister team, Racing Bulls (formerly AlphaTauri), Hajar has scored in over half the races so far in 2025 and even qualified P5 in Monaco—a feat not achieved by a rookie since Lewis Hamilton. Promoting him would be logical, but it would disrupt the sister team’s structure and rhythm.

    3. Liam Lawson

Lawson is the safest pick in terms of experience. He has already driven the RB21 in a few test and sprint sessions and is more familiar with the team environment. But he’s also underwhelmed in recent outings, finishing P20 in both appearances this season and raising questions about his suitability as a long-term Red Bull asset.

    Strategic Implications

This isn’t just about surviving a potential Verstappen absence—it’s a strategic reshuffle in the making.

Red Bull has historically used its junior team pipeline ruthlessly. If Lindblad impresses, it could justify a major overhaul for 2026. Yuki Tsunoda’s inconsistency and inability to capitalize on the RB performance potential are worrying, and Christian Horner himself has said Tsunoda’s seat for 2026 is far from secure.

In contrast, Lindblad represents the future. Young, fast, and fearless, he fits the Verstappen mold. Giving him even one Grand Prix to prove his mettle could be Red Bull’s way of auditioning their next franchise driver.

Is the Super License Even Possible?

The FIA requires a driver to be 18 and to earn 40 points across various junior categories to qualify for an F1 Super License. Lindblad has already amassed enough points and has demonstrated outstanding ability in F2, making him eligible for a special exemption due to “exceptional circumstances.”

Interestingly, the very rule mandating the minimum age of 18 was introduced because of Verstappen’s record-breaking debut at age 17. Now, Red Bull is seeking an exemption from that same rule—ironically to potentially replace Verstappen, if only temporarily.

The decision will be made during an FIA meeting in Macau next week. If the exemption is granted, Red Bull has a golden card to play, should Verstappen cross the line again.

    So What’s Red Bull’s Plan?

Red Bull insists there’s “nothing to see here”—that Lindblad’s fast-tracked exemption is about future opportunities, not current crises. But their urgency to secure his eligibility before the end of June raises eyebrows.

If Verstappen stays clean until June 30, this whole drama may blow over. But if he picks up even one more penalty point in the next race or two, Red Bull must make a choice: do they play it safe with Lawson, stick with Hajar and risk weakening the junior team, or roll the dice with Lindblad?

And more importantly—what if Lindblad impresses in a one-off race? Could that alter the course of Red Bull’s 2026 lineup entirely?

A Glimpse into Red Bull’s Future

There’s a bigger narrative unfolding: Red Bull isn’t just preparing for Verstappen’s race ban—they’re planning for the next Verstappen. Lindblad may be untested at the top level, but he fits the team’s philosophy of fearless talent and early promotion.

In the short term, Verstappen’s conduct will determine whether Red Bull has to play this wildcard. But in the long term, Lindblad’s emergence is reshaping the team’s outlook on 2026 and beyond. And if Tsunoda doesn’t deliver, Hajar may not be safe either.

    Final Thoughts

Red Bull’s driver strategy has always been aggressive. From promoting Verstappen at 17 to rotating seats mid-season, they don’t shy away from bold calls. With a young prodigy knocking on the door, a world champion walking a disciplinary tightrope, and two junior drivers vying for permanence, the team is on the cusp of a potential reshuffle.

Whether it’s Lindblad, Hajar, or Lawson who gets the nod, Red Bull is already setting the stage for the next generation. And if Verstappen does sit out a race this season, we may get a rare glimpse into that future—sooner than anyone expected.

The only thing certain in Formula 1 is change. And at Red Bull, change might be closer than we think.

Charles Leclerc ‘considering quitting’ crisis-hit Ferrari as replacement boss identified!

Reports in the Italian media suggest Ferrari chiefs are growing impatient over Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc’s struggles with boss Frederic Vasseur said to be on thin ice

Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur is said to be on shaky ground with the Italian team’s top bosses growing more frustrated over their struggles. That’s despite the most famous outfit in Formula 1 sitting second in the teams’ championship behind only leaders McLaren.

But it is the size of the gap between them which is frustrating for everyone at Ferrari. Last year they pushed McLaren all the way and lost out on the final day of the season, but already this year they are 197 points adrift of the runaway defending champions.

Behind Ferrari, Mercedes are only six points worse off heading into this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, while Red Bull are 15 further back in fourth place. Ferrari might have been behind both of them had it not been for a run of strong results from Charles Leclerc.

The Monegasque heads to Montreal on the back of two successive podiums. But the consensus is that he has been outperforming an underwhelming Ferrari car which has struggled for pace this year, evidenced by Lewis Hamilton and the difficult first season he has endured with the team so far.

There was plenty of hype around Ferrari when the seven-time F1 champion joined but that good feeling has since evaporated. His best Grand Prix result to date has been fourth and after the last race in Barcelona, where he finished sixth, he said it was “the worst race I’ve experienced”.

The ever-demanding Italian media seems to be growing restless, including Corriere della Sera which reports that Ferrari’s results in 2025 “are far from the initial objectives” of the team. And the newspaper claims that the situation has led to team principal Vasseur being at risk of the axe.

It is understood that Ferrari made an informal approach to Christian Horner in recent weeks, though the Red Bull boss batted away questions about his future and said he has no desire to leave his current role. But the Corriere della Sera report names another who is said to be at the top of the list of potential replacements for Vasseur.

Antonello Coletta is the head of Ferrari’s hypercar programme and oversaw their return to the World Endurance Championship in 2023. That year, the team won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and repeated the trick in 2024, while Ferrari AF Corse has won all three rounds held in WEC so far this year.

The Italian newspaper reports he could be tempted to switch over to lead Ferrari’s F1 outfit, having declined to do so in the past. But perhaps more worrying for the team than its team principal dilemma is that Leclerc is said to have doubts “for the first time” about whether he should stick with Ferrari in the long-term.

Leclerc, 27, is a product of Ferrari’s driver academy and is in his seventh season as a Scuderia driver, having joined in 2019, just his second season in F1, after a debut campaign with customer team Sauber. He has a contract until 2029 but it is said to contain exit clauses that he could choose to trigger if he decides another team could provide him with a better chance of winning titles.

Lando Norris has addressed Max Verstappen’s driving antics with the world champion in danger of a race ban following his clash with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix

Lando Norris has revealed his true feelings on Max Verstappen ahead of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix. Their friendship was tested last season as they fought for the F1 title and were involved in several flashpoints.

The most infamous one came at the Mexico City Grand Prix. The incident started when Norris was forced wide as he attempted to pass the Dutchman around the outside. After the McLaren driver stayed ahead of his foe, Verstappen then launched a reckless dive down the inside a couple of corners later, with both veering off the track.

The Red Bull driver was found at fault and stewards issued two 10-second penalties. He was also widely criticised for his alleged overaggression on the track.

Verstappen was in hot water again at the recent Spanish Grand Prix when, after being asked to cede position to bitter rival George Russell as they battled over fourth place, he drove into the side of the Mercedes. The act landed him with a 10-second penalty, dropping him to 10th place, dealing a major blow to his title chances.

He was also punished with three penalty points on his licence, which leaves him just one point away from a race ban. As he watched the incident in the cooldown room after the race, Norris, who finished second, cheekily quipped: “I’ve done that before… in Mario Kart!”

However, ahead of round 10 in Montreal, Norris has spoken of his respect for Verstappen and even defended the four-time world champion’s actions. He told the BBC: “I don’t think he’s done anything untoward towards me.

“He’s raced against me very, very toughly, as he has the right to do. He’s made my life very, very tough at times. And he has the right to do that.

“I’ve said it many times, I have a lot of respect for Max. The driver he is, the person he is, what he stands for all of the time. And what he’s achieved, his four world championships. That’s four more than me, and he’s had a lot more race wins than me.

“I admire those stats, those performances. But at the same time, everyone does what they believe is best. Everyone does what they believe is right. And they race for themselves.

“Some may be more aggressive than others. But everyone has flaws. I have them. Maybe he has them. I race in the aggressive way I believe is correct, and he does the same. The stewards are the ones who decide what is right and wrong.”

Norris explained that taking a more cautious approach can sometimes be the best option, especially against somebody like Verstappen, who is renowned for his uncompromising style when racing other drivers.

“When you’re racing for wins, championships, against the best in the world, you can never expect things to be easy,” he added. “You learn in go-karting that you can’t at all easily overtake around the outside.

“That is like rule number one, but it can be done and it will be done. The number one goal for us is always to finish. Sometimes, when you try too hard, things can go wrong. You might end up not finishing the race, even though you might be in the right, so sometimes you’ve got to take the safer approach.”
