Noughties playboy who Katie Price dumped for Peter Andre lives a very different life now

Katie Price was dating millionaire’s son Scott Sullivan – and reported to be engaged to him – before finding love with Pete Andre back in 2004

Back in the early Noughties, Katie Price was in a relationship before she jetted off to Australia to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and clapped eyes on future husband Peter Andre.

She went on to flirt with Mysterious Girl singer Pete throughout the series, even telling him that the man she’d left at home – millionaire’s son Scott Sullivan – was “a nice guy, but I’m not going to marry him… I know he’s not the one.”

Scott, who Katie is believed to have been dating for two years at the time and is even said to have proposed to her before she went in the jungle, reportedly threatened to fly Down Under to confront Pete and ‘punch his lights out.’

And it was claimed more than just flirting had happened between Katie and Pete than was shown in the show, as they apparently came within ‘millimetres’ of bonking on camera. Within days of getting together after the series ended, Katie and Pete declared themselves ‘in love’.

They went on to marry in a lavish £2 million ceremony in Hampshire in 2005 and have two kids – Junior and Princess, now 20 and 17 – before it all went wrong and they divorced in 2009.

But what happened to heartbroken Scott, who dated a string of glamour models back in the day? We take a look at his life now, which is very glamorous to when we last saw him.

Now thought to be in his late thirties, Scott is a successful businessman who owns private plane charter firm Shy Aviation and luxury travel concierge service Shy Lifestyle, that’s so exclusive it’s invite only – flying the likes of Gossip Girl pal Ed Westwick round the world.

After dating the likes of glamour models Jodie Marsh and Bianca Gascoigne, he romanced former Made In Chelsea star Caggie Dunlop before finding love with Caggie’s MIC love rival Funda Onal, who also used to date Spencer Matthews.

The couple married in 2017 and a year later announced Funda was pregnant with their first child. Sharing an intimate shot of him kissing his wife’s bump, Scott captioned the photo: “A new family is born.”

Funda, now 40, is a model, actor and dancer who has appeared in campaigns for Nike and Adidas, as well as music videos for Calvin Harris and Tinie Tempah – appears to be a mum to two girls now, with her youngest appearing on her social media from 2022 meaning they are likely to be aged around seven and three.

Though it’s not been reported that Scott and Funda have split, there are no pictures of Scott on her Instagram anymore – nor is she on his. And Scott – who has only posted one snap of a little girl on his socials back in 2020 – now appears to be in a new relationship and is preparing to be a father again.

Tagging a woman called Katherine Scott, who has recently appeared on his social media feed, he shared a black and white photo looking down at her pregnant belly. He captioned the post from May 31 this year: “A new Soul among us.”

And it seems Katherine is indeed his other half as one follower congratulated them on the happy news and wrote: “Such a stunning couple, inside and out.” “Beyond happy for you both,” another said.

“This gave me chills, so much love in one photo,” a third commented, as a fourth added: “A powerful soul it is. Congratulations brother x.”

In other snaps on his social media, Scott is into his cars and extreme sports such as skiing, rock climbing and wakeboarding. He’s also a big fan of Jiu Jitsu and regularly posts snaps from sessions with pals.

  • McLaren Under Fire After Dramatic Collision Between Norris and Piastri at the Canadian Grand Prix Sparks Outrage Among Fans and Experts

McLaren Under Fire After Dramatic Collision Between Norris and Piastri at the Canadian Grand Prix Sparks Outrage Among Fans and Experts

Norris vs. Piastri: Collision Chaos at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix Threatens McLaren’s Momentum

The 2025 Canadian Grand Prix was expected to be another shining example of McLaren’s meteoric rise in the Formula 1 championship fight. With both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri increasingly seen as genuine title contenders, the team arrived in Montreal with confidence, form, and momentum on its side. But instead of a celebration of McLaren’s consistency and competitiveness, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve bore witness to a stunning intra-team collision that has not only dented their championship hopes but may have shaken the very foundations of team harmony.

    A Battle That Boiled Over

Lando Norris had shown all the hallmarks of a driver ready to take the fight to his teammate. Starting from seventh on the grid, the Brit executed a solid undercut strategy and displayed blistering pace throughout the race. As the final laps loomed, Norris had closed in on Piastri, who was holding fourth. The battle between the two papaya-liveried cars began to simmer — then boiled over.

In a dramatic moment just three laps from the finish, Norris attempted an ambitious move on the main straight, diving up the inside of Piastri. But what might have been a spectacular overtake turned into disaster. Norris misjudged the distance, clipped the rear of Piastri’s car, and lost control — resulting in a heavy impact with the wall, terminal damage to his front suspension, and a race-ending DNF.

    Fallout and Apologies

To his credit, Norris immediately took responsibility for the incident.

“I’m sorry. All my bad. All my fault. Stupid from me,” came his immediate radio message — an honest, if painful, admission.

Later, in front of the media, he remained accountable:

“No one to blame but myself. I apologized to the whole team and to Oscar as well for attempting something probably a bit too silly.”

For Piastri, the race continued — albeit with some front-end damage and a clear sense of discomfort at what had transpired. He crossed the line in fourth, banking 12 points and, more critically, extending his lead over Norris in the Drivers’ Championship by 22 points — a swing that could prove pivotal later in the season.

    Internal Dynamics in the Spotlight

While the McLaren garage presented a united front, the cracks in what had been a largely harmonious driver pairing may now be showing. Team Principal Andrea Stella struck a firm but measured tone in his post-race debrief.

“We never want to see the two McLarens touching each other. It’s a very clear principle. Lando misjudged the distance — no malintent, and he owned it immediately — but it’s something we must review.”

Stella’s comments suggest that while forgiveness may be offered, forgetting will not come easily. And in the high-stakes world of Formula 1, where tenths of a second and tiny misjudgments can cost championships, McLaren cannot afford repeat performances.

    A Ghost from McLaren’s Past

Adding an eerie layer of déjà vu to the incident, many fans pointed out the site of the Norris-Piastri clash was the same section of track where, in 2011, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button — then McLaren teammates — collided in similar circumstances. That moment back then also stirred debate over strategy, inter-team dynamics, and whether McLaren had allowed too much freedom between its drivers.

In 2025, those same questions have returned, louder than ever.

A Race Engineer’s Role Under Scrutiny

Further fueling speculation was the tone of Lando Norris’s race engineer Will Joseph during the closing stages of the race. Observers noted that his instructions appeared more aggressive than usual — as if Piastri were a rival from another team, not a colleague from within. While Stella was quick to dismiss those claims, saying the message “would have been the same with any other car,” the optics were hard to ignore.

Whether or not there was favoritism, or simply an eagerness to capitalize on Norris’s pace, McLaren must now navigate the perception battle as well as the points deficit.

    A Championship Battle Reshaped

Before the Canadian Grand Prix, Norris was closing in on Piastri — just 10 points separated them. But Montreal’s chaos flipped the narrative. Piastri, now with a 22-point cushion, has seized the psychological edge. Not only does he have the numbers, but he also walks away from this episode having kept his cool, said the right things, and stayed out of further trouble — even when summoned to the stewards post-race for a minor Safety Car investigation (which yielded no penalty).

The championship remains open, but the emotional momentum has swung hard in Piastri’s favor.

    The Road Ahead: McLaren’s Crossroads

As the season heads toward the Red Bull Ring in Austria, McLaren faces a defining moment — not in terms of car development or race strategy, but in internal management. CEO Zak Brown has yet to publicly comment, but rest assured, private conversations are already underway.

    The team must now decide:

Does it continue to allow its drivers to race freely under the so-called “Papaya Rules” philosophy?

Or does it impose firmer team orders to prevent future incidents?

The risk of another clash, especially as the championship pressure increases, is real. Yet restricting the drivers too tightly could backfire — both are young, ambitious, and capable of winning titles. Any perception of favoritism or forced hierarchy could sour morale.

Norris and Piastri: Rivals at Last?

Until now, the Norris-Piastri relationship has been marked by respect and a shared vision of elevating McLaren. But as we saw in Montreal, those days may be over. The gloves are coming off — slowly, but visibly.

Norris, a fan favorite and long-time McLaren driver, is no stranger to frustration and bad luck. But this latest error was self-inflicted. And Piastri, in just his second full season, is proving to be not just fast, but quietly ruthless in capitalizing on every opportunity.

The stage is set for a fascinating rivalry — one that could define not only McLaren’s 2025 campaign, but also its future.

    Final Thoughts

Formula 1 thrives on drama, narrative, and unpredictability. The 2025 Canadian Grand Prix delivered all three in spades. McLaren, once basking in the glow of resurgence, now finds itself at a crossroads. Can they channel this moment into constructive growth, or will internal tension derail a championship-caliber campaign?

One thing’s for sure: the rivalry between Norris and Piastri is officially alive — and the rest of the grid, and fans worldwide, will be watching every move from here on out.

David Beckham shares rare insight into relationship with mum after knighthood

Sir David Beckham’s mum remains very private on social media, with most of her accounts private – but since his knighthood a very sweet post she dedicated to him has emerged

Sir David Beckham shared a rare insight into his relationshp with his mum as he reposted a sweet message from her following his knighthood news.

Sir David Beckham has reached many amazing achievements throughout his longstanding career in sport and showbiz – all of which are now likely to be topped by last night’s announcement that he is to be knighted.

The 50 year old star, who is being recognised in the Kings Birthday Honours List for his services to Sport and Charity, has finally secured his long awaited knighthood. Speaking out about the incredible recognition, Sir David said he was “humbled” in a statement shared with the Mirror.

He said: “I’m so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I’m grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I’m immensely proud and it’s such an emotional moment for me to share with my family.”

David’s wife Victoria Beckham penned a gushing tribute to her husband, sharing her pride at his new knighthood status. The message, shared to David, 50, via Instagram, also made reference to the star’s dedication to his family – which could be a dig at the couple’s reported feud with their eldest son Brooklyn.

Lady Beckham, 51, posted a sweet snap of her kissing a smiling David on the cheek as she wrote in the caption: “You’ve always been my knight in shining armour, but now it’s official. Sir @davidbeckham!!! What an honour, I couldn’t be prouder of you. Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered. The way you’ve touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday. But above all else, I’m so, so proud to call you mine.I love you so much xxxx”.

One of the latest congratulations messages Sir David shared on Instagram was from his mum Sandra. Sandra wrote: “Such a special 50th year you’ve had! I’m busting with so much pride and happiness that you have been knighted. From the boy who dressed up as Pince Charles now stands before him. I couldn’t be more proud of the person you are and all the hard work you do. I know two people who would be looking down on you with so much pride. Love you lots.”

Sandra had some lovely things to say about David.
Sandra had some lovely things to say about David.

The sweet message shows is a rare insight into what Sandra posts onlin due to her account being priivate, but it shows the pair are very close and shows that Sandra clearly has a lot of love for her son.

With the prestigious title comes a string of VIP privileges only afforded to those who receive a knighthood. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams tells us: “The Chapel of Knights Bachelor is in St Paul’s Cathedral and he would be entitled to request the use of the Chapel for weddings, baptisms and memorial services. As a knight he is also entitled to apply for a coat of arms – perhaps golden balls will feature!”

Meanwhile, like every person who has received a knighthood, Sir David will be treated to an official ceremony. The ceremony, which often happens at Buckingham Palace, will see David kneel in front of a monarch – which can be either the King or another member of the Royal Family such as Princess Anne or Prince William – who will then touch the recipient’s shoulder with a sword.

  • Lewis Hamilton’s supermodel friend waved Canadian Grand Prix chequered flag one lap early!

Lewis Hamilton’s supermodel friend waved Canadian Grand Prix chequered flag one lap early!

Winnie Harlow was left red-faced after she accidentally waved the chequered flag a lap early at the 2018 Canadian Grand Prix, leading to F1 bosses scrambling for a solution

Winnie Harlow’s waving of the chequered flag caused controversy at the 2018 Canadian Grand Prix(Image: Sky Sports F1)

The Canadian Grand Prix continues to be a popular stop on the F1 calendar, with one particularly chaotic edition coming in 2018 when the chequered flag was waved prematurely. Last year it was Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who emerged victorious in an adrenaline-fuelled, rain-soaked race following a tense five-car showdown.

The current Formula One world champion secured a crucial lead as McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri battled with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton trailing behind. Post-race, Verstappen labelled the action “crazy”, while Norris described it as “chaos”.

However, this was a well-orchestrated affair compared to the 2018 Canadian Grand Prix, where model Winnie Harlow’s early wave of the chequered flag caused havoc on the track and left F1 bosses scrambling for a solution.

As F1 returns to Montreal, it’ll be hard to replicate the bedlam that unfolded seven years ago. Flag waving has been a tradition for many celebrities over the years, with David Beckham, Serena Williams and Spider-Man actor Tom Holland all having their moment in the spotlight.

Yet, no one has made quite the impression that America’s Next Top Model alumna, Winnie Harlow – a friend of Hamilton – did back in May 2018. At a memorable Formula 1 race, the Victoria’s Secret model unwittingly steered herself into the sport’s annals – but not as she might have anticipated.

Tasked with ending the 70-lap long haul, the 30-year-old, who was 28 at the time, was caught in a gargantuan gaffe when she unfurled the chequered flag prematurely on the 69th lap.

This early display plunged Sebastian Vettel’s last lap into disarray at the Grand Prix, prompting the German driver to urgently radio his team, urging them to clarify the mishap while he powered through the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve to complete the race properly.

After the confusion, Harlow managed to wave the flag at the correct moment as Vettel sailed across the finish line, no doubt leaving F1 bosses biting their nails after the error. Rule 43.2 loomed over the event, highlighting the unintended power of an early flag to potentially decide the race’s outcome.

In a stroke of good luck, the racing order was preserved despite the flag faux pas, allowing all involved to exhale in collective relief. Reflecting on the nerve-wracking experience, Vettel admitted his post-race jitters: “Some of the marshals were already celebrating. I was just worried that people wouldn’t jump on the track and start celebrating. We’re still going at full pace.”

After the race, Harlow took to Instagram to explain the blunder to her followers, saying she was instructed to wave the chequered flag too soon. “WHEN THEY TELL YOU TO WAVE THE FLAG A LAP TOO EARLY! You had one job sir!!! Hahaha but so grateful everyone was safe today and no one got hurt from this,” she posted.

The late Charlie Whiting, who was the FIA race director at the time, later absolved Harlow of blame, confirming that she was told to wave the flag prematurely and it wasn’t her fault.

He detailed that the mix-up happened due to a miscommunication with a local Montreal official, who asked if it was the final lap but was misunderstood as confirming it, leading to the early end-of-race signal.

Former F1 managing director Ross Brawn also came to Harlow’s defence, commenting: “Winnie simply followed the instructions she was given and I want to apologise for the grief she received and thank her for supporting Formula 1.”

Despite the mishap being a red-faced moment for F1, Harlow wasn’t the only celebrity to fumble the flag. At the 2002 Brazilian Grand Prix, football legend Pele was in the spotlight for missing Michael Schumacher’s finish when he waved the flag while looking the other way.

JENNIE BOND: ‘Kate Middleton’s powerful Trooping the Colour change speaks volumes’

In a change from last year, the Princess of Wales watched Trooping the Colour on the parade ground alongside the King and Queen – and royal expert Jennie Bond says it was highly significant

The Princess of Waleses’ subtle change at Trooping the Colour sent a powerful message about her future, according to a royal expert. After enjoying a carriage ride down the Mall with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, Kate watched the military parade in a different position this year.

While George, Charlotte and Louis joined other members of the royal family, including the Duchess of Edinburgh in the former office of the Duke of Wellington, Kate took her place next to the King and Queen on the dais, in her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards. Her role with the Irish Guards is a symbolic position and her position on the parade ground was one she was unable to take up last year because she was receiving cancer treatment, and instead watched the ceremony with her children.

And for former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, Kate’s position at the parade was highly significant. She told the Mirror : “I also thought it was highly significant to see Catherine on the dais alongside the King and Queen.

“She was there not only as a very senior member of the Royal Family but as Colonel in Chief of the Irish Guards as they marched by. It was a very powerful image of our next Queen alongside her father-in-law who has made no secret of the respect he has for Catherine, especially after the cancer journey they have shared. It certainly gave you the feeling that royal life is pretty much back on track after the scary past 18 months.”

Another change at Trooping this year was the fact that William stood next to his father King Charles on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the RAF flypast. Last year Kate was invited to stand next to His Majesty.

Last year was an exception, with the Princess of Wales taking on her first public duty since her cancer diagnosis, and I think the King was showing his special support for her by asking her to stand alongside him. But today it was the correct order and, in a way, that was quite reassuring.

“I’m not sure that George enjoyed the long carriage ride quite as much as his siblings, but he came to life as soon as the flypast began. He’s obviously very keen on aircraft and has already had a flying lesson.

“I thought William, and particularly Catherine, were very careful to watch over the children, tell them what was happening next and make sure there were no embarrassing moments. And there weren’t. Everyone was on their best behaviour and, in the glorious sunshine, it was a treat for the huge crowds who turned out to see the pageantry and the Royal Family on parade.”

She continued: “It was genuinely joyful to see Catherine looking so well, so dazzlingly elegant and so happy with her children in the carriage.

“Ever the mum, she put a reassuring hand on Charlotte’s knee as the carriage rolled down the Mall from the Palace. But the young Princess also looked full of confidence and smiles, she seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the parade.

“Louis was on his best behaviour and George looked rather serious. He seemed rather like a young lad who was thinking ‘been here, done it, got the T-shirt!’

“But he has a whole life of this sort of thing ahead of him, and I’m sure he’ll enjoy it all the more when he’s on horseback escorting his father, or indeed, heading up the parade himself.”

Lewis Hamilton in ‘new territory’ amid concern F1 history could repeat itself!

Exclusive: An insight into Lewis Hamilton and his mindset at Ferrari as the seven-time Formula 1 champion continues to find it difficult to produce his best form since joining the Scuderia

Lewis Hamilton has found life at Ferrari tough so far(Image: AP)

Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari struggles have been compared to Damon Hill’s final Formula 1 season in which the Brit found it “increasingly difficult to win”. The seven-time F1 champion joined up with the sport’s most famous team at the start of this year to huge fanfare.

But the performances on track have hardly matched the level of hype off it. Other than a Sprint race victory in China, his results have left a lot to be desired and Hamilton has yet to stand on an F1 podium for Ferrari at the end of a full-length Grand Prix.

His results have led to some particularly glum comments being made by Hamilton himself at times this year, but F1 pundit and former Red Bull executive Mark Gallagher is not sure everyone should take such comments and interviews at face value.

“The thing is with Lewis, my read of the situation is that people shouldn’t be too quick to jump to a conclusion just because of him being downbeat about the car’s performance, about the fact that he has to now endure Grand Prix, where he knows he cannot win,” he told Mirror Sport, via Betway.

“In fact, he knows he cannot even really consistently compete for podium finishes. This is essentially new territory for Lewis in recent years. Mercedes took a wrong turn with their car development from 2022 onwards. He’s had a very difficult time there. Lewis has then gone to Ferrari and, of course, Lewis just races to win.

“He’s not there to finish fifth for sixth or eighth or whatever. One of the interesting aspects of working in Formula 1 for a long time, which, I’ve been very privileged to do, is you get to see how world champions, like Lewis behave when they find themselves in a car that’s not competitive.”

To illustrate his point, Gallagher brought up the example of Hill who won the 1996 F1 title with Williams but then moved to less competitive teams and, three years later, retired from the sport having grown frustrated with his lack of opportunities to fight at the front of the grid.

He added: “Damon Hill was a World champion, a great British World champion. He drove ferocious in the first Grand Prix and I know I’m going back into ancient history but Damon had a very difficult 1999 season, which was his final year of Formula 1.

“Part of that was he got himself into a mindset where he felt it was increasingly difficult to win. I remember talking to him about it and him saying to me, if you turn up every weekend knowing that you have the chance to win the race on Sunday, it quite naturally gives you a completely different approach.

“Compared to when you turn up for a race weekend, knowing that you’re going to qualify on the fifth or fourth row of the grid. The biggest hope you have is that you might get some decent points or maybe even squeak on to the podiums.”

Kym Marsh has got some exciting baby news after revealing her daughter Emilie, 27, is pregnant. The Hear’Say star, 49, who is set to become a grandmother for the fourth time, shared the happy news four months after she called it quits with her boyfriend, Samuel Thomas, 30, who she previously described as her ‘soulmate’.

Taking to Instagram, posting a snap of her grandson and granddaughter proudly holding a baby scan, sporting Big Brother and Big Sister t.shirts, Kym wrote: “I am so thrilled to share the news!!! Grandchild number 4… incoming!!! Congratulations to my beautiful daughter @listentoemilie, my wonderful son in law @mikeyhoz and Teddy and Polly!! Can’t wait to meet you little one!”

Responding to the post, one of the actress’ followers replied: “Congratulations to Emilie, Michael, Polly and Teddy. So thrilled for you all.” While a second added: “The best news, so happy for your family.”

Kym, whose son, David, also has a child, first became a grandparent when she was 42. However she admitted she didn’t relish being called ‘Grandma’ and so changed it to Yaya on grandson Teddy’s request before finding out the name was Greek for ‘grandma’.

Speaking to CBeebies about her family, she said: “I always knew I would be a young grandparent because of how old I was when I had my children.

“I was 42 when I found out I was going to be a grandparent. It still came as a bit of a shock but I was so excited.

“Both me and Emilie’s dad were thrilled to bits. Then, of course, meeting Teddy was on another level.”

She continued: “I’m still a very busy person, but as a grandma I try to make as much time as I can. I like to think they will all grow up knowing that, even though I’m busy, I will always be there for them.”

Kym’s baby news comes four months after she called it day with actor, Samuel, who she met while performing in 101 Dalmatians The Musical. Despite referring to the 30-year-old as her ‘soulmate’, Kym split with her co-star after six months.

The mum-of-three, who has been married three times, met Samuel after she split up from her third husband, Scott Ratcliff. Fans thought Samuel, who is the same age as Kym’s eldest child, David Cunliffe, may propose. But now it’s all over, with Kym insisting she’ll never walk down the aisle again.

Talking to the Independent about her future plans as she got ready to star in a theatre production of Abigail’s Party in April, playing Beverley, she said of the seventies – when the play was written: “You were expected to get married back then. It was almost a little girl’s dream.

“But not for Kym Marsh. I’ve been married three times, and three times it’s not gone well – so no more for me. Three strikes and I’m out.”

Mick Schumacher Reportedly Among Top Candidates for Sensational Formula 1 Comeback with Potential 2026 Drive After years on the sidelines, Mick Schumacher is rumoured to be under serious consideration for a dramatic return to the Formula 1 grid in 2026, with several teams reportedly expressing renewed interest in his talent and legacy.

Mick Schumacher is reportedly on Cadillac’s shortlist for an F1 seat next year as he targets a shock return to the sport.

The 26-year-old, son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, has not raced in F1 since being axed in 2022 after two seasons with Haas.

Schumacher was a reserve driver for Mercedes in 2023 and 2024 but did not feature at all on a race weekend, leaving the team at the end of last season. Now, he is racing for Alpine in the World Endurance Championship.

Yet Schumacher’s presence in the F1 paddock at the Miami Grand Prix over the weekend – where F1’s soon-to-be 11th team Cadillac held their launch event – has raised speculation about a return.

German publication BILD report that Schumacher is on the shortlist for one of the two seats yet to be filled at the American-owned team in 2026.

Schumacher also reportedly attended Cadillac’s official launch event and liked one of the team’s social media posts.

Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas are also rumoured to be on that shortlist, alongside the likes of Zhou Guanyu and Colton Herta.

Cadillac team principal Graeme Lowdon – who also acts as Zhou’s manager – spoke about his search for two drivers while speaking to the media in Miami.

“We’ve got a fairly good idea [on drivers], and we’ve narrowed it down quite a bit,” Lowdon told Sky Sports F1.

“We were effectively kept out of the last round of driver discussions because we didn’t have an entry and were in a slightly unusual position.

“But it also means there is a lot less competitive tension and we can take a little bit of time.

“Obviously, the number one priority for us is to have something for the driver to drive, and that is where a lot of the management bandwidth is.”

Schumacher, who has always acknowledged that a return to F1 remains his dream, finished third as part of a three-man Alpine team at the 6 Hours of Imola event last month and is set to compete at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans event next month.

Kubica and a team-mate both made history for their nations with the win

FORMULA ONE cult hero Robert Kubica enjoyed a fairytale race win at the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours.

The 40-year-old took the chequered flag driving the Ferrari number 83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P, also driven by China’s Yifei Ye and Britain’s Phil Hanson.

Kubica was once considered to be in an elite crop of F1 talent alongside Lewis Hamilton as he took his maiden win at the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix.

In 2011 the Pole had agreed to sign for the Ferrari F1 team for the 2012 season before disaster struck as he was involved in a devastating rally crash that almost killed him.

Kubica was left with 42 broken bones, a partially severed wrist and lost three quarters of his blood volume after being trapped in his car for more than an hour before rescue workers managed to free him.

He underwent a seven-hour operation by seven doctors before having two further operations to repair fractures in his leg, shoulder and arm.

As a result he spent months recovering from his injuries and was robbed of the chance to race for the Scuderia in F1.

Kubica returned to motorsport in the World Rally Championship in 2013 and went on to win 14 Stages before he made a stunning return to F1 to drive for Williams.

Initially he started out as the team’s reserve driver in 2018 before he was given a full seat in 2019 to partner then F2 champion George Russell.

He then left his role in 2020 after managing just a single point, but did remain as a reserve driver for Alfa Romeo.

In 2023 he was crowned champion of the World Endurance Championship, while he also won two Le Mans series in 2021 and 2024.

However, top spot in the iconic 24-hour race eluded him as he twice finished as a runner-up and was forced to retire from the 2024 edition.

But this year Kubica finally added the iconic motorsport event to his lucrative racing CV in front of a sell-out crowd – which sees around 300,000 fans gather for the showpiece.

Kubica drove a long final stint to achieve the prestigious victory for Ferrari, which is their third year in a row winning the race.

Speaking over his team radio, he said: “It’s been a long 24 hours but an enjoyable one – grazie mille, grazie a tutti.”

He later said to TNT Sports: “Winning Le Mans is special.

“It’s been a demanding week – we made everything possible. We kept our heads down when we had to push, and when not we took care of the tyres.

“I’m happy for myself, my team-mates, AF Corse and Ferrari winning three times in row. A better scenario, we could not have.”

Kubica joins two-time Le Mans and two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso as the only drivers to have won an F1 race and Le Mans this century.

He is also the first Polish driver to win the iconic race.

Team-mate Yifei Ye also became the first ever Chinese driver to take an overall win at Le Mans 24 Hours.

Motorsport fans will also have the chance to sink their teeth into the F1 Canadian Grand Prix, where Russell took pole ahead of Max Verstappen.
