Call Mike Tyson’s fight at 58 a fraud a disgrace or a downright shame… but Jake Paul is the one at greatest risk of serious harm despite being 30 years younger

For just a moment I thought I had better check whether Mike Tyson is older than me. After all, we do seem to have spent half a lifetime across the ropes from each other.

Of course, I do have about a quarter of a century over him but still the age difference is less than the 30 years between Iron Mike and Jake Paul. So when it was announced that these two are to fight each for real for other this summer the gut reaction was a sharp intake of breath.

What is this? Father against son for a family fortune? Well, for the money, yes.

The gaping-mouthed reaction around the world varies between fears for Tyson’s life and ridicule for boxing making a mockery of itself yet again. An obscenity even.

It is understandable that health and welfare would be concerned for a man of bus pass age in America. But the more you think about it, maybe, the anxiety should be focussed on the other side of the ring.

Tyson is not one of the nobodies who Paul has been mowing down for fun on and lolly since crossing over from YouTube scuffling to a semblance to boxing proper.

Even if I were 50 years younger I would not want to be on the receiving end of potentially the most decapitating punch in ring history.

Call it a farce, call it a fraud a disgrace or a downright shame – all of which are an argument – but Master Paul is the one at greatest risk of serious harm.

Throughout his thunderous career Tyson made a habit of knocking proven heavyweights out, often with a single sledgehammer. And the last thing any boxer loses is his punch.

Tyson wouldn’t be doing this, even for the money, if he did not believe he has a chance of doing the same to his young paymaster. There is recent film of Tyson knocking the stuffing out of the heavy bag in the gym.

Of course he would have to catch the kid but he was always one of the fastest heavies in the world. He showed some of that when training UFC icon Francis Ngannou for his boxing debut in which he knocked down and almost beat Tyson Fury.

Such activity has brought him back to good condition for his age. Mister Tyson is still the last man any mugger could wish to try his luck with in an alley.

Hopefully, he will continue banking the cash from his huge cannabis ranch in Nevada but restrain his liking for the product until July.

Should this event be happening? Preferably not but it is likely to fill, in Dallas, the biggest National Football League Stadium in America. Will the medical profession be aghast? For sure. But maybe for the wrong reason.

57-year-old Mike Tyson hitting the pads shows he’s still terrifying in the ring, nearly took his trainer’s head off

A viral video of Mike Tyson hitting the pads shows he’s still a terrifying proposition – even at the age of 57.

After a legendary professional career, which saw him capture the world heavyweight title, Tyson returned to the ring to face fellow boxing icon Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout.

It came after he got himself in phenomenal shape as he shared his transformation on social media, which included him in the ring with Rafael Cordeiro.

Is Tyson plotting another exhibition contest? Well, that’s because he’s uploaded new footage of himself hitting the pads with Cordeiro and it makes for incredible viewing.

The clip shows ‘Iron’ Mike showing off his hand-speed and power as he obliterates the pads in a ferocious session.

Tyson’s sensational pad work sent social media wild as some fight fans reckon he’d beat current heavyweight stars Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

One Twitter user wrote: “Mike Tyson is still a beast.”

A second tweeted: “This is the greatest fighter who has ever lived.”

A third added: “Stops AJ and wilder in the same night.”

A fourth said: “That pad-man needs a pay rise, a medal, a Lambo, and a Nandos black card!”

Another commented: “Does everyone in the HW division.”

Tyson, who called time on his storied career following his defeat to Kevin McBride in 2005, made his return to the sport against Jones Jr in 2020.

He’s since been linked with exhibitions against Lennox Lewis and even Jake Paul but appears to be eyeing a wrestling bout against Logan Paul.

Speaking to Forbes, he said: “Have you ever seen me wrestle before?

“I would do it! I would kick his [Logan Paul’s] ass, yes I would do it. Even though I love him, though.

“This is what I found out about WrestleMania: Everybody says ‘that’s fake, that’s fake’. But the check is real.

“Deep down inside – don’t let [WWE] know – I would do this for free.”

  • Years After Losing His $400,000,000 Empire, “Street People” Mike Tyson Draws Money Comparison Between His and Current Generation Athletes

Years After Losing His $400,000,000 Empire, “Street People” Mike Tyson Draws Money Comparison Between His and Current Generation Athletes

You name it, Mike Tyson had it. Multi-million dollar mansions, tigers in his backyard, luxurious watches, and expensive cars. However, this lifestyle did not last long enough for him. A year prior to his retirement, the former Heavyweight champion filed for bankruptcy in the year 2003. How did he lose his $400,000,000 Empire? The reason behind the same is more than one.

Many athletes like him, who made abundant fortune, ended up bankrupt. Moreover, in a recent turn of events, ‘Iron Mike,’ reveals that the present generation is a lot more financially sound. Why does he say this? Let’s find out.

Mike Tyson feels that the current generation is smarter

In a recent episode of, ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson,’ the ex-NFL player, Antonio Brown was featured on as a guest. Amongst other things, Tyson dived in on the current landscape of athletes with regard to handling their fortune. According to him, athletes of this generation are a lot more smart regarding handling money He does not see wealthy athletes filing for bankruptcy after their retirement.

In addition, he draws a comparison with, ‘Street people,’ who did not have any knowledge on how to save and invest money. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “Now athletes are smarter now to handle their money more proficient than we did back then. Most of us were guys that had criminal records and stuff. We never thought we live this long. When I say street people I do not mean people the live in the street you know.”

Many would agree with Tyson’s assessment. In today’s age and time, there maybe more knowledge and caution regarding expenditure. Moreover, this has not been the only instance when Tyson has spoken about going bankrupt.

‘Iron Mike’ gets candid about his bankruptcy

In another episode of the podcast, Tyson on similar lines candidly reveals he had no clue on how to deal with abundant wealth and was reckless. Especially during the nascent stages of his career when he wanted to spend his money on extravagant items. Not to mention, he paid a substantial amount of his wealth as alimony to his first wife Robin Givens. Subsequently, he filled for bankruptcy in the year 2003.  While citing an anecdote, he stated, “I mean, you know when you’re young you know how it was you get money you want a Rolex chain… It gets crazy.”

That being said, ‘The baddest man ever,’ survived bankruptcy by paying off small amounts of his debt with time. Even decades after his retirement, the boxer is in public limelight and has multiple sources of income. Tyson’s journey is an example for many athletes to refrain from certain practices that he indulged in.

Fans demand Tyson Fury to ‘stay AWAY’ from Anthony Joshua after ‘savage’ AJ knocks out Francis Ngannou in just two rounds as Brit prepares to face winner of Tyson Fury v Oleksandr Usyk clash

Fans were quick to react to Tyson Fury after Anthony Joshua‘s dominant knockout of Francis Ngannou.

Having beat the former UFC Champion in a narrow split-decision victory in late 2023, Fury was the centre of a social media stir as fans insisted he ‘stays away’ from Joshua.

AJ floored Ngannou for the first time in his career with less than a minute to go of the first round before forcing him to the deck twice in the second round.

After months of build-up, the two heavyweight stars finally met inside the squared circle on Friday night at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

A final user posted: ‘That’s what happens when you put an elite fighter in with a total novice. No need to see these bouts. Never was, should not see them again. Joshua did what Fury should have done. Ngannou can box if he wants but start at the bottom and learn.’

Eddie Hearn called Joshua’s performance, ‘one of the most destructive knockouts I’ve ever seen.’

‘He’s a savage, a beast, the best heavyweight in the world, I can’t wait for him to beat Tyson Fury’ Hearn added.

AJ and Ngannou were contesting the co-main event on the ‘Knockout Chaos’ card in Saudi Arabia, attended by the good and great of sport.

Tyson Fury, Ronaldo Nazario, and Jose Mourinho were among the onlookers as Joshua floored Ngannou in the most hotly anticipated clash of the year so far.

Joshua, aged 34, stepped into this crossover showdown with Ngannou following consecutive victories over Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, and Otto Wallin.

Meanwhile, it was Ngannou’s second professional boxing match following a split-decision loss to Tyson Fury.

John Fury unloads on KSI and says he's going to 'ruin his career' if he doesn't pay up

John Fury has doubled down on his payment demand from KSI as he has sent ANOTHER chilling message.

KSI suffered a crushing defeat to Tommy Fury earlier this month as he lost a close decision, with the result being changed following their bout in Manchester.

After the fight, ‘Big’ John called out the YouTuber as he demanded £200,000 following a bet they placed before their clash. Check it out below:

A few days removed from his original call out, John has issued a second demand for the payment, claiming he’ll ‘ruin KSI’s career’ if he doesn’t fork out the six-figure fee.

“He lost. He’s got to man up and pay,” the 59-year-old exclaimed.

“Cause I will not let this go. I’ll hound him to death.”

John added: “There you go mate, pay up. You wanted to bet in the first place. Be a man. You was a sore loser when you got picked on the night.

“But you’re gonna pay this money. I’ll never you leave alone. I will ruin your career. I’m on you like a dog on a rabbit. So don’t worry about that. Pay up.”

Last week, John referenced Jake Paul as he ordered KSI to pay up following their bet.

“This is a quick video for KSI. You owe me £200,000,” he said in a clip posted on social media.

“We had a bet, I want paying. Now don’t be like the other fella, Jake Paul. Be a man and pay your bets. We had a bet live on a podcast, we’ve got all the evidence there, we’ll put it all together.

“You owe me, John Fury, £200,000. I want paying. Thank you very much.”

‘I’d have got up the other night and punched his **** right in’: Tyson Fury reveals the one man that stopped him from beating up Francis Ngannou after their heated press conference exchange

Tyson Fury claimed he was close to trading blows with Francis Ngannou during their heated spat earlier this week.

The Gypsy King was in attendance for a fight week press conference ahead of Ngannou’s clash with Anthony Joshua on Friday night.

Asked about his future plans the former UFC champion insisted he would like to rematch Fury, and also claimed he felt that he deserved to have his hand raised when they first fought back in October.

‘One [a victory] over Tyson – one more over Tyson, because I had the first one [already]! I’ve got the first one, and I intend to get the second one.

Tyson fired back, calling the 37-year-old a ‘dosser’, before Ngannou insisted Fury’s only chance is due to the rules of boxing limiting his full skillset.

‘I tell you, your only chance is in the boxing ring, with boxing rules. When you step off for that ring, you better stay five metres away before I stop your s***, because if I lose it, you’re gonna have a really bad time.’

Never one to take such a claim lying down, Fury fired back and insisted the only reason he didn’t fight Ngannou at the press conference was out of respect for Turki Al-Sheikh.

‘Let me tell you, if he comes outside for me he won’t be walking away from it and that’s a fact.’ The WBC champion told BoxNation.

‘What do you think I’m gonna do let him elbow me and punch me in the face and whatever, grab me and break my arm?

‘Let me tell you something straight from the heart, if I didn’t have as much respect as I do for Turki Al-Sheikh, I’d have got up the other night and punched his **** right in for him, but I didn’t want to cancel another show for Turki.

‘He wouldn’t be leaving the outside and I’ll tell you that. If I’d have got up on set about him the other night at the press conference there would’ve been another show cancelled.

‘What happens if he would have got a cut or smashed his jaw or eye socket or whatever? There you go. And I would have been in big trouble as well.

‘I would have got done. All the big mouths always run to do the law when they get a proper. So yeah, it’d been probably on a attempted murder charge or something with the useless dosser. So I’m happy.’

Ngannou floored Fury but the Gypsy King emerged victorious when the pair clashed in October

When the pair squared off inside the ring back in October, Ngannou exceeded all expectations by pushing Fury to his limit across ten hard-fought rounds.

However, the Gypsy King ultimately emerged victorious on that night in Riyadh, despite having been dropped in the third round.

Fury is currently scheduled to take on Oleksandr Usyk on May 18, in a bout set to determine the heavyweight division’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in 1999.

UFC star Molly McCann sends warning to Anthony Joshua as she predicts what his ‘kryptonite’ could be against Francis Ngannou

Molly McCann believes Anthony Joshua could come unstuck against Francis Ngannou in their showdown in Saudi Arabia on Friday night if the former UFC champion utilises his power against the British fighter.

The pair are set to meet in a huge clash in the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the Cameroonian-French MMA fighter coming into the bout after startling WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in October.

Ngannou is widely regarded as one of the hardest hitters in the world, with UFC president Dana White previously describing one of his punches as ‘being equal to getting hit by a Ford Escort going at full speed.’

And McCann, who recently claimed victory against Diana Belbita, delivered a warning to Joshua ahead of the fight, lauding Ngannou for his work to improve as a boxer.

‘I think, a punch has always got a chance… I really didn’t think he was going to do as well as what he did against Tyson Fury, McCann told Sky Sports News.

‘He’s put his down. He’s carried on working on his craft,’ she added.

In his first professional boxing fight the 37-year old knocked the ‘Gypsy King’ to the canvas in the third round, before Fury went on to claim a split decision victory – with some fans claiming that Ngannou was ‘robbed’.

Joshua, meanwhile, claimed a comfortable victory against otto Wallin in December at the ‘Day of Reckoning’ but will want to use his experience against Ngannou to secure victory tonight, to give himself a shot at Fury next.

The 34-year-old stands to earn approximately £39million before he steps into the ring vs Ngannou, but faces a difficult opponent, with McCann revealing Ngannou could possess the British fighter’s kryptonite.

‘AJ’s kryptonite could be what Francis has got a lot of in his locker.

‘It would be good to see if AJ is good enough to out box him, be smart and not stay there to get hit.

‘Francis has got to sit down on his punches a little bit more and let them go a bit more than in his last fight – where he was a little bit tentative, because it was his first professional boxing bout.

Anthony Joshua faces being on the undercard for his next fight in embarrassing step down

Anthony Joshua is reportedly set to fly back to Texas to start training camp ahead of a December fight.

Joshua hasn’t fought since his devastating knockout victory over Robert Helenius in August..

He’s on a two-fight winning streak, having suffered back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

A blockbuster Saudi Arabia showdown against Deontay Wilder had been mooted but talks broke down.

Joshua vs Wilder appears unlikely to take place this year, with a March or April date suggested.

In the meantime, the 34-year-old could have a tick over bout in December ahead of potentially facing off against ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

He could appear on the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn bill on December 23 in Abu Dhabi, which is being planned by Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, according to The Sun.

So, that would see Joshua compete on the undercard, which would be his first non-main-event fight since 2015.

He fought Kevin Johnson on the undercard of Matchroom’s ‘Rule Britannia’ card, which saw Kell Brook take on Frankie Gavin in the main-event.

An opponent for December hasn’t been named, but, as an interim clash, it’s unlikely to be a major contender in the heavyweight division.

If Hearn is unable to strike a deal with Team Wilder, then they could turn to IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic, who boasts a 16-0 professional record.

On Joshua vs Wilder, the Matchroom chief said: “We were offered a deal that we accepted [but it fell through]. It’s not my fault now that some of the alternatives may not be anywhere near the last number, so that makes us reconsider our options.

“We’re also in line potentially to fight for the IBF world title vs Filip Hrgovic/Otto Wallin. So I don’t care about Deontay Wilder, he’s in his own problems, the guy ain’t fought for a year and his last fight was about 40 seconds. He don’t really wanna fight, I don’t think.”
