Christian Horner wields a ‘terrifying’ amount of power at Red Bull insists ex-Formula One driver… as he claims a ‘lot more will surface’ after the team principal was cleared over allegations of ‘coercive behaviour’ towards a female colleague

Christian Horner holds a ‘terrifying’ amount of power at Red Bull according to an ex-Formula One driver.

An independent internal investigation cleared the 50-year-old of ‘coercive behaviour’ towards a female employee, though screenshots of a text conversations allegedly between the pair were leaked a day after via an anonymous email.

The employee was last week suspended from her role at Red Bull as a direct result of the investigation, with Mail Sport revealing that she had been told her evidence was ‘dishonest’.

Red Bull meanwhile have publicly backed the under-fire team principal, with the company’s head of sport Oliver Mintzlaff insisting they are ‘happy’ with their management during the weekend of the recent Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Now ex-Formula One driver Christijan Albers, who raced in the sport from 2005 to 2007, has reportedly hit out at Horner to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf.

Albers said that it was ‘terrifying’ that Horner still holds so much power at Red Bull despite the recent allegations against him.

He added: ‘Because by the way it’s all being picked up and it’s just being waved away, then you make someone on the other side extra angry. I think a lot more will surface.

‘Then, still, [Horner has] this drive and envy to still be able to get that number one position and just chop everyone’s head off.’

Albers went on to downplay Horner’s record and credited adviser Helmut Marko for much of Red Bull’s success, adding: “If you start looking very realistically, which drivers did he put in the car and which drivers did Dr Marko put in the car?’

‘Looking at success. With all due respect, all success formulas come from Marko. So if you really start looking at who has a view on talent, there is absolutely no debate on that. That’s just Dr Marko, who has always made the right choices.’

Horner ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix said that it was time to ‘draw a line’ under the saga after he was cleared during the team’s internal investigation.

Red Bull have won three consecutive championships with Max Verstappen, and look likely to match the total of four straight that they accomplished with Sebastian Vettel from 2010 to 2013.

Verstappen has won the opening two races of the season, both times from team-mate Sergio Perez.

Horner’s future is not the only one that has been uncertain given Red Bull’s off-track dramas.

Helmut Marko revealed he won’t leave Red Bull despite his rift with Horner, after Verstappen threatened to quit the team if his mentor and the team’s motorsport advisor left.

Horner’s wife Geri Halliwell has continued to show her support to Horner, attending both of the opening races alongside the beleaguered team principal and was pictured kissing him at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Red Bull rival Toto Wolff accuses Christian Horner’s team of covering up information amid ‘sex texts’ scandal engulfing Geri Halliwell’s husband

Toto Wolff has accused Red Bull of withholding information in the Christian Horner sex text scandal and slammed them for a ‘confusing’ communication strategy.

The Mercedes boss also revealed he was open to a move for Red Bull’s legendary chief technical officer Adrian Newey – after news emerged Horner could push him out.

Horner has been mired in a scandal following accusations of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ by a female employee ahead of the 2024 season, though an internal investigation cleared him.

Hundreds of messages allegedly from Horner – some sexual – were spilled to the media and F1 titans, but Red Bull have affirmed he will not be sacked after a shareholder meeting.

In response, Wolff told Osterreich: ‘From the outside, we’re treated to a lot of drama. But for a team like Red Bull, a situation like this isn’t great.

‘Not saying everything only makes it more interesting, leading to more questions, more stories, more speculation.

‘But there is a real story in the background, and it’s the most important one – why did a woman who felt uncomfortable go to HR? Why hasn’t anything talked about this yet?

‘There’s also an information strategy that looks a bit confusing from the outside. Generally, I think the Austrians are professional while in England they try to keep everything small, but that’s no longer possible these days.’

Despite being cleared of allegations by Red Bull, Horner’s future was thrown back into serious jeopardy after what appeared to be intimate WhatsApp exchanges with a female colleague were sent to Formula One’s most influential figures.

The bombshell email contained 79 documents, including hundreds of messages, many of them of a sexual nature.

The anonymous sender copied in leading people in the sport, such as FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem and F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali, as well as accredited media gathered in Bahrain for the scandal-ridden opening race of the season.

Amidst the scandal, a rift has reportedly developed between Horner and Newey, the designer who has helped Red Bull win 13 titles since 2006. Horner could reportedly look to push him out of the F1 champions.

Horner refused to rule out a move for Newey, saying: ‘Everything is always possible in this crazy carousel. I wouldn’t rule anything out. But we have an excellent team of technicians with whom I feel comfortable, even if that is not reflected in the lap time at the moment.’

That comes after his claim that he would ‘love’ to have Max Verstappen join the Silver Arrows. Sources have told Mail Sport’s Jonathan McEvoy that Verstappen could even leave Red Bull mid-season, given his and his father’s distaste for the outrage enveloping Horner.

Seeing Verstappen and Newey leave would be a monumental blow to Red Bull’s stable excellence, but at least they can probably count one ally sticking by them.

Last week, their future engine supplier from 2026, Ford, appeared to commit their future to the team by sponsoring the team’s F1 Academy programme.

Ford were previously very vocal, stating that they expect ‘high standards of behaviour and integrity,’ before falling silent on the Horner controversy.

Becoming the title sponsor for the Red Bull-backed Academy programme, an all-female racing series designed to support Formula 1, appears to show their commitment to the team.

And Helmut Marko, Verstappen’s mentor, told De Telegraaf that the situation is more agreeable than reported – despite claims that there was an ‘open war’ between him and Horner.

He said: ‘A lot has become clearer.’

Asked if he can continue to work with Horner, he said: ‘We’ve been doing it for 19 years already, so why not?

‘However, there are still some issues that need to be resolved.’

Victoria and David Beckham’s iconic ‘working class’ moment from their Netflix documentary could earn them a TV BAFTA

An iconic moment from the Netflix Beckham documentary has been nominated for a TV BAFTA.

The series released last October saw David, 48, and Victoria, 49, give an intimate insight into their marriage and early romance, their family life, as well as charting David’s footballing career.

One particular moment went viral after its release – when Victoria said she was from a ‘working class’ family before David pointed out that her father in fact used to drive her to school in a Rolls-Royce.

The hilarious scene spawned a host of memes and became a talking point from the successful series.

Now it has been nominated in the P&O Cruises Memorable Moments category at the TV Baftas along with five other entries.

The moment will go up against the end of Happy ValleyNcuti Gatwa‘s arrival in Doctor Who, Logan Roy’s death in Succession, teen Lucy’s performance on Channel 4‘s The Piano and the story of Bill and Frank in zombie drama The Last of Us.

A TV insider told The Sun: ‘Posh and Becks’ documentary Beckham faces some stiff competition, but given how many viewers watched the show on Netflix it might just triumph on the back of people power.

‘And the fact that they are in such esteemed company among the incredible nominees shows just what a big impression it made.

‘There were some incredible TV moments during 2023, but the Beckhams can count on fans backing them in the voting. It’s the only category where the public get to have their say.’

After the success of the moment the pair featured in an Uber Eats ad where Victoria wore a T-shirt saying ‘My Dad Had a Rolls-Royce’ on it.

The P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award honours the impact of television in the UK and its power to entertain, inform and bring the nation together.

The nominations were compiled by a carefully appointed and esteemed independent jury of influential TV critics, as well as former Love Island contestant  Amy Hart, with BAFTA’s Television Committee Chair, Hilary Rosen chairing the jury.

Voting will close on Tuesday April 9 and the winner will be announced at the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises on Sunday May 12.

In a segment talking about growing up Victoria said: ‘We both come from families that work very hard we’re very working class’.

Hearing the interview from another room David then poked his head round the corner and chipped in: ‘Be honest!’ before an agitated Victoria replied: ‘I am being honest!’

David then asked her: ‘What car did your dad drive you to school in?’

She then started to answer saying: ‘So my dad did…’ before her interrupted her saying: ‘It just needs one answer!’

Posh then retorted that it ‘wasn’t a simple answer’ before he asked her again what car it was.

She then said: ‘It depends but yes in the 80s my dad had a Rolls Royce!’ – before David retorted ‘thank you’ and then left.

It comes after earlier on Wednesday Victoria flashed her underwear in a sheer white dress as she posed for a racy Instagram snap with her crutches.

The fashion designer gave fans a sneak peek into her upcoming Spring/Summer clothing collection as she modelled a gorgeous see-through ensemble.

The mother-of-four has continued to stay active in the gym and at work despite breaking her foot last month due to a gym injury.

Flashing her toned legs and washboard abs, Victoria struck a pose for the sexy mirror selfie.

She captioned her post: ‘Spring Summer 24… (with a twist)’

The former Spice Girl isn’t letting her broken foot get in the way of her fitness as she has continued to get in her regular workouts.

Victoria has recently started to get a little frustrated with her foot brace as she expressed: ‘I’m bored of you now’.

Earlier this week, Victoria slipped into a black crop top and high-waisted leggings in the sizzling mirror selfie.

Victoria also shared the crucial routine she does in order to rest and recover – with a glass of red wine and red light therapy.

The post comes after David carried Victoria at her Paris Fashion Week last week when she struggled to walk on her crutches.

Former footballer David gushed that he was ‘so proud’ of Victoria after she failed to let her injury or protestors spoil her big night.

He wrote: ‘So proud of you for many reasons but this season threw a lot at you and again you just did what you do best. we love you @victoriabeckham’.

Victoria touched down in Paris on crutches as a result of a recent gym injury which saw her hurt her ankle.

However she didn’t let it stop her as she was supported by David and her children Brooklyn, 24, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 12.

In a jokey snap, David gave Victoria a piggy-back while holding a bottle of champagne as Victoria thanked him for his support, while making reference to her injury.

She wrote: ‘Always supporting me (literally) I love you so much x Kisses x’.

The family were also joined by Brooklyn’s wife Nicola Peltz, however the pair’s middle son Romeo, 21, was notable absent in the wake of his split from girlfriend Mia Regan.

Formula One teenage star Oliver Bearman enjoyed a dream debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix – but what’s next for the 18-year-old star? As Ferrari boss reveals how his 2024 season could look

Formula One teenage star Oliver Bearman will be walking on cloud nine this week after his historic debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The 18-year-old was drafted in to take the place of Carlos Sainz at late notice ahead of Friday’s qualifying, before going on to finish seventh overall in Jeddah, scoring six points for his side.

It was a whirlwind 24 hours for the driver, who reportedly only found out he’d be taking Sainz’s place a few hours before qualifying.

But after the race, the Essex-born driver admitted the ‘stars had aligned’ after he became the youngest British driver in Formula One history.

‘It feels like such a quick progression in my career from driving in F4 a few years ago (in 2021). I only did my first F1 test a few months ago (in 2023) so to make my F1 debut in red is hopefully a sign of things to come,’ he said.

The 6ft 3in teenager showed maturity beyond his years throughout the race and looked hungry to challenge some of the circuit’s more established stars, notably finishing above seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

Bearman, who joined Ferrari’s driver academy at the age of 16, is considered among many within the sport as one of the next big talents rising through the ranks.

And there’s no doubt many team bosses will be keeping tabs on him over the coming years, with reports emerging this week that he could secure himself a permanent spot in Formula One next season.

While Sainz is set to make way for Hamilton at Ferrari in 2025, there may be no seat for Bearman at the Prancing Horse just yet. But according to The Sun he may be a favourite to join their customer team Haas, with Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg out of contract at the end of the season.

Even so, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has revealed what this season could look like for the reserve driver, with Bearman set to return to F2 for the upcoming Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, before starting FP1 sessions with Haas.

‘It’s a good signal for Ollie for sure, it’s an important milestone,’ Vasseur said, speaking on the 18-year-old’s debut in Jeddah.

‘In Melbourne and Imola he will be back on the F2 project. The most important challenge for Ollie will be this one. He will start soon the FP1 sessions with Haas, and this will be important also for us to give him experience and mileage in the car.’

Bearman has risen through the ranks quickly winning the Italian Formula Four championship and the ADAC Formula Four Championships in 2021, before stepping up to Formula Three in 2022. He’d go on to finish third that season, earning promotion to Formula Two in 2023 – placing sixth overall.

He had also participated in two FP1 sessions for Haas last year, but reportedly is set to compete in six this season, per ESPN.

‘For sure with this one [Jeddah] he has the result in the pocket already,’ Vasseur continued. ‘But you have to consider Jeddah is a step, not the final target. He did well this weekend, but he will have other challenges in front of him in the future with F2.

‘He will do a couple of FP1s with us and Haas during the season and all of you, including me, in six months time, we won’t speak any more about Jeddah, we’ll speak about Mexico, Brazil, and if he’s doing well or not.

‘Every single day will be a new challenge. But for sure, if he’s keeping the same approach as today, it will go well.’

Haas team principal, Ayao Komatsu admitted his delight that the emerging star will be driving in their FP1 sessions this season before lauding Bearman skills behind the wheel.

The couple took their youngest children Cruz, 18, and Harper to meet Obama while throwing their support behind his charity, The Obama Foundation, where they shared sweet snaps from the meeting.

The couple posed for the images alongside the former POTUS alongside gushing captions lauding him for his work with the charity.

Lewis Hamilton warns Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull for Mercedes ‘wouldn’t make sense’ with the Dutchman’s future in doubt after his father called for Christian Horner to quit

Lewis Hamilton believes a switch to Mercedes ‘wouldn’t make sense’ for Max Verstappen but conceded ‘anything is possible’ in Formula One.

The Dutchman has won the last three world titles with Red Bull but his future is in question after his father Jos told Mail Sport that the title-winning team would ‘explode’ unless Christian Horner stands down as boss.

The 50-year-old was exonerated of charges of ‘coercive behaviour’ towards a female colleague last week, before a leaked email produced evidence purporting to show Horner sending suggestive WhatsApp messages to his colleague.

Verstappen Snr and Horner were involved in a heated argument with Horner in Red Bull’s hospitality area in Bahrain last week.

The former also held talks – and a dinner – with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff during the opening weekend of the season, fuelling speculation his son would consider a move elsewhere if the situation at Red Bull didn’t clear up.

Horner: ‘We need to move forward, time now to focus on Formula One’

With Hamilton set to join Ferrari, a vacancy will be available at Mercedes next season.

But while the Briton was not surprised by rumours linking Verstappen to his seat, he suggested the move would not make sense for his rival.

‘I wouldn’t say I am surprised that he is being considered. He is a great driver,’ Hamilton told reporters in Saudi Arabia, where the second race of the season takes place in Jeddah.

‘And Max in that moment did what he had to do. It was nothing on him. It was the sport that let us down and that wasn’t his fault.

‘If I was in his position I would have done the same thing, so there are no issues there.

‘If you run a team you want the best driver and a driver that brings in the eyeballs and brings in the sponsorship and he is one of those.

‘I understand it but it wouldn’t make sense for him, but it will be interesting to see.’

Hamilton pulled off a shock move of his own last month, when he announced he would leave Mercedes to join Ferrari less than a year after denying talks with the Italian marque over a huge £40million deal.

The seven-time world champion said his split from the Silver Arrows showed nothing can ever be ruled out in Formula One.

‘I think my move has shown that anything is possible, and it’s going to be a really interesting next six months or so. I don’t have any extra scoop,’ he said.

‘I’m sure Max is on the list. But I’m pretty sure he’s tied up, and I also don’t see why he’d leave a car that is that good!’

Asked of the impact Verstappen Snr’s comments would have on Red Bull, Hamilton said: ‘He is not a part of the team, he is a parent. So that’s just an opinion but it’s definitely not helpful.

‘I think it is a very thin line to walk. […] I think Max is a grown man, he’s a champion and I’m sure he can make his own decisions.’

Tyson Fury reveals how much his brother Tommy made from KSI fight and how much he has in his bank

Tyson Fury has revealed how much his younger brother Tommy earned from his fight against KSI earlier this month – and claimed how much money he has in the bank.

The elder Fury is in action this weekend against Francis Ngannou, in a boxing bout that will be judged over the 10-point must scoring system.

The fight takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will see the ‘Gypsy King’ step into the ring for the first time since knocking out Derek Chisora in December.

The bout comes just two weeks after Tommy, a 2019 Love Island runner-up, had his own professional bout, taking on KSI in the main event of the Misfits Prime Boxing card in Manchester.

Fury initially won the fight via majority decision, but the result was changed to a unanimous decision after it was found that one of the judges had miscalculated their final score.

The entire event, which was broadcast by DAZN, reportedly received 1.3 million PPV buys.

And speaking ahead of the Ngannou fight, Tyson has revealed that his brother earned a staggering $10 million from his fight against KSI.

He went on to tell combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour: “The fact that Tommy made $10m from the fight, he’s 24 years old, probably made $25-$26m (around £21m) out of his 10-fight career, it’s unbelievable. I’m very, very proud of where he’s come from.”

Tyson then recalled the difficulties that Tommy went through at the beginning of his boxing career and rise to fame on Love Island, and compared those to his current lifestyle and finances.

“In 2018, Tommy didn’t have $10 for a bus pass,” he explained. “Today, Tommy’s got a hell of a lot of money, millions of dollars in his account. So I’m very proud of him.

“He can buy what he wants. He’s got a $5m mansion, [Mercedes] G-Wagon, Lambo’s, Rolex. The guy’s flying.”

Tommy also became a father in January of this year, when his fiancee Molly-Mae Hague gave birth to their daughter.

Molly-Mae was present during the 24-year-old’s fight against KSI – but later revealed she is considering banning herself from his future bouts.

While on-track success continues to elude Lewis Hamilton since 2021, his off-track exploits have had much better results. Known throughout the world for his initiatives, the 7-time world champion has recently become a recipient of a special award. Per an update from GQ Magazine on their official website, Hamilton has won GQ’s ‘F1 – Transcending Powerhouse’ award. Last year, GQ launched a new award series called ‘Global Creativity Awards.’

Taking place for the second year in a row, the awards shall now honor Ferrari-bound Hamilton. Also on the list are Hunter Schafer (Hollywood Star), Danny McBride (Renaissance funnyman), Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross (both Rock musicians turned Oscar-winning composers). American multimedia artist Lauren Halsey, Marni’s surrealistic creative director Francesco Risso, and ground-shaking Afrobeats innovator Asake also make the list of winners.

All honorees will join GQ for their “big bash” on 11th April 2024. The evening will be hosted by Emmy-winning comedy ace JB Smoove. While more details are yet to follow, the theme of the night will be – ‘Big Ideas for a Better World.’ Hamilton has played a critical role in introducing such ideas, especially in motorsports.

Following the season-end photo of 2019, Hamilton noticed a lack of diversity in the paddock. It led to him taking action and breaking specific barriers to increase the recruitment of Black people within UK motorsports. After ten months of research, the Hamilton Commission came into existence. Hamilton also created the Mission 44 charity in 2021. It came into existence after the 2020 Black Lives Matter protest and aimed at improving diversity in global motorsports.

Lewis Hamilton to continue pushing for diversity with Ferrari

Hamilton’s initiatives are extremely close to him, and he continues to work hard on them. Moving to Ferrari in 2025, the Briton made it a priority for Ferrari to ensure he continues working on them. As such, he had clauses around his initiatives blanketed into the deal. Ferrari Chairman John Elkann committed to embarking on a joint investment fund with Exor to contribute a little over $270 million to Hamilton’s Mission 44. Given the investment, Hamilton’s total annual earnings with Ferrari shall sit around the $400 million mark.

There is little surprise that Hamilton found the offer very lucrative. A report from GP Fans claimed Ferrari and Elkann were more than willing to join Hamilton’s initiatives. Elkann promises to embrace Hamilton’s initiatives and is excited to work on Hamilton’s mission. Meanwhile, the report also claims that the Maranello outfit was more keen on supporting Hamilton than Mercedes, which also played a role in the Briton opting to switch sides.
