A woman has accused former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson of raping her sometime in the early 1990s in a lawsuit filed in Albany, New York, this month.

The woman, who is suing for $5 million, said Tyson raped her in a limousine after she met him at an Albany nightclub and that she has suffered from “physical, psychological and emotional injury” in the years since then.

The woman’s affidavit does not provide a date for the attack but says only that it happened in the early 1990s — around the same time that beauty pageant contestant Desiree Washington said Tyson raped her in Indianapolis. Tyson was convicted of raping Washington on Feb. 10, 1992, and served three years in prison.

The legal action in New York was filed under the state’s Adult Survivors Act, which gives sexual assault victims a one-year window to file lawsuits over assaults that happened years or even decades ago.

The woman said in her affidavit that she got in Tyson’s limousine and the boxer immediately started touching her and trying to kiss her.

“I told him no several times and asked him to stop, but he continued to attack me,” the woman said. “He then pulled my pants off and violently raped me.”

The woman is seeking to maintain her anonymity because, she said, publication of her name “would certainly pose a risk to me of further mental harm, harassment, ridicule or personal embarrassment.”

The woman’s attorney, Darren Seilback, said in a separate filing that his office did not simply take the woman at her word but investigated her allegations and determined that they are “highly credible.”

Seilback said Tuesday he could not comment further on the case.

A message seeking comment from Tyson was sent to an agency that has represented him.

Brooklyn-born Tyson, 56, won adulation as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990, but his life outside the ring has been turbulent.

Tyson’s former wife, actor Robin Givens, said in divorce papers that their late-1980s marriage was characterized by “unprovoked rages of violence and destruction.”

  • Mike Tyson vs Frank Bruno: The sensational forgotten round which almost made ‘dreams come true’

Mike Tyson vs Frank Bruno: The sensational forgotten round which almost made ‘dreams come true’

The fight was pushed back when Mike Tyson broke his hand in a street fight and again when he was left unconscious after he crashed his car.

Frank Bruno waited patiently for the chance of a lifetime and his biggest payday. He had been waiting for over a year and watched helplessly as the first three dates came and went. Even Donald Trump was somehow involved in the fights that were meant to take place at Wembley Stadium in 1988. It’s easy to forget how big Tyson vs Bruno was at the time.

An early date in 1989 was announced, postponed, and then the Las Vegas Hilton was finally booked for 25 February. The Hilton had been the home to Liberace and Elvis Presley, and Tyson was the new king of the strip. The Hilton, by the way, is not on the strip.

Bruno would finally get his second chance at the world heavyweight title; the world would then get to see up close and personal what Tyson had left after a terrible year on the so-called safe side of the ropes.

In Tyson’s wild life there had been a fight at midnight on a street corner, a suicide attempt, a costly divorce, a sacked trainer and rumours of meltdowns; Tyson was in trouble and the kid was still only 22 at the time. He had fought eight consecutive world title fights in just over two years. He was a sensation.

This was also, make no mistake, Bruno’s chance because of Tyson’s problems. And Big Frank was getting a record $4m. No other British boxer in history had made anything like that sum.

Just under 10,000 people were in the Hilton, and over 2,000 were travelling Bruno fans. They kept up a chorus of love for Bruno, but everyone knew it was a massive risk and that Bruno was a big, big underdog. “I believe dreams come true,” Bruno had said.

Less than one year later, James Buster Douglas, an even bigger underdog, knocked out Tyson to win the world heavyweight title in Tokyo; dreams do come true in the boxing ring.

The first round between Tyson and Bruno was one of the most dramatic in heavyweight history. It is often overlooked, but it was truly sensational.

In the ring before the first bell, Tyson looked more focused than normal. His new trainer, Jay Bright, was very much a spectator in the distance. Bruno’s gaze never left Tyson’s eyes when the referee, Richard Steele, pulled them together.

At the very start of the first round, Bruno tried a stiff jab, Tyson caught Bruno high on the head with a glancing right and then bundled Bruno over. It was 11 seconds in, Bruno was down, and then Tyson connected with a free shot – a sickening right uppercut when Bruno was on one knee. Bruno’s fight looked like a lost cause with just seconds gone.

Bruno then took more punches than any man had so far managed in fights with Tyson. Bruno held and hit and grappled and tried to land big shots. He lost a point for holding with about 70 seconds left. Bruno was taking heavy punches and landing his own, and Tyson was catching him flush. It was heroic and then a left hook connected clean with Tyson’s chin and his legs buckled, he did a little dance, and then he was holding.

The clock showed about 40 seconds left and they went for each other, both landing. It was exceptional and at the bell to end round one, they both glared at the other. Bruno was not done and would never quit, and that is often forgotten.

What a round that was. However, it took a toll on Bruno, and he was stopped in the fifth – on his feet, but hurting. His defiance was not enough, and Tyson retained his IBF, WBA and WBC heavyweight titles. Bruno left the ring and left Las Vegas with the money and the respect.

Tyson would lose the title to Douglas, and Bruno would win the heavyweight title in 1995 and fight Tyson one more time in Las Vegas in 1996. Bruno lost again and that was the end for the national treasure; Tyson’s career slowly came to a bloody end over the next nine years, and it was hard to watch.

  • Jake Paul to fight Mike Tyson ‘live on Netflix’

Jake Paul to fight Mike Tyson ‘live on Netflix’

Jake Paul will fight former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in Texas this summer.

The bout will see former YouTube star Paul take on the 57-year-old Tyson, one of heavyweight boxing’s most legendary figures, on 20 July.

The fight will be shown live on Netflix, and Tyson vowed to “finish” fellow American Paul, who is 30 years his junior. It will be staged at the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Tyson will be 58 at the time of the fight, and it is not yet clear whether it will be an exhibition or professional contest.

“I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul,” Tyson said. “He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT.

“It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”

Paul, 27, tweeted: “Promotion promotion promotion. If I’m being honest, it don’t need that. The biggest fight of the 21st century, in the biggest NFL stadium in the US, broadcast live on the biggest streaming platform in the world… that’s the MVP way.

“Whether you’re tuning in on Netflix or showing out in person, whether you’re team Paul or team Tyson, or whether you’re a lifelong boxing fan or watching your first fight, you’re not going to want to miss this event. I could not be more excited to make this amazing fight available to all Netflix subscribers alongside the hardest hitter of all time, Mike Tyson, on Saturday, July 20th.

“My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep.”

Paul last fought on Saturday, stopping pro boxer Ryan Bourland in round one to move to 9-1. Paul’s sole loss came at the hands of Tommy Fury, half-brother of Tyson Fury, in February 2023.

Since retiring as a pro in 2005, Tyson has fought just once, drawing with Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout in 2020.

Jake Paul explains exactly why he chose heavyweight legend Mike Tyson as fight opponent despite 31-year age gap

Jake Paul has revealed he chose to fight Mike Tyson for his legacy despite their 31-year age gap.

The YouTube star announced that he will touch gloves with the heavyweight icon on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

It is expected to be a mammoth event, with 80,000 fans set to pack into the stadium alongside many watching around the world on streaming service Netflix.

Tyson will be 58 years old when he steps into the ring for their summer showdown, and fans have been concerned after footage showed him using a walking stick.

The boxing world also displayed worry online, after footage emerged of Tyson punching the heavy bag in training ahead of the bout.

Many options could have been on the table for Paul including a rematch with Tommy Fury or an all-influencer battle with KSI.

But Paul has revealed that he could not turn down this opportunity, as he believes it could become a history-making event.

He said on a YouTube video: “In all seriousness Mike, it is such an honour and I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to step in the ring with one of the two most famous people to step in the boxing ring.

“Not only will this be the biggest fight of my life, but I think this has the opportunity to change the history of boxing, and be one of the biggest events of the 21st century.

“It is the biggest moment of my career and the biggest challenge.

Jake Paul discussed the event in a promotional video

Jake Paul discussed the event in a promotional video
“Everyone has said, ‘Don’t get in the ring with Mike he is too hard of a puncher.’

“That man is a beast, but I am not taking him lightly. July 20, I am hoping to make history and knock out Mike Tyson.”
Fans suggest Mike Tyson could be ‘in trouble’ as new training footage emerges ahead of fight against Jake Paul on 20th July
Paul will be 27 when he laces up his gloves again, and could be a danger to Tyson despite their disparity in boxing experience.

Tyson retired in 2005 having conquered all in the sport including becoming the youngest ever heavyweight champion at 20 years old.

But he is far from his glory days in the sport, and has suffered from medical conditions during his time out of the ring.

‘Iron Mike’ has already fought since retiring in an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr in November 2020, an event which ended without a final result.

But indications have suggested that Paul and Tyson could meet in a sanctioned professional bout, which will place further spotlight on health risks to the American legend.

‘He’s senile’ – Logan Paul snubbed chance to fight Mike Tyson before controversial Jake Paul bout

Internet star Logan Paul claims he rejected the chance to fight legendary boxer Mike Tyson.

Logan Paul’s brother and fellow YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul, is set to take on former heavyweight champion Tyson in a shock bout on July 20.

Fan have expressed concern over 27-year-old Jake Paul, who has a 9-1 professional boxing record, fighting a 57-year-old Tyson, stepping into the ring for the first time in four years.

And it would appear Logan is among those who disagree with the fight – which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Speaking on his ‘Impaulsive’ podcast with KSI, Logan Paul explained why he said no to a dance with ‘Iron Mike’.

“I said no to fighting Mike Tyson,” Logan Paul revealed.

“I was offered it, but not on Netflix and not for a big a** bag.

“I’ve been asked, ‘Do you think you could beat Mike Tyson?’ My answer is yes. I just think he’s too old, it’s crazy. He’s senile.”

Tyson’s last boxing appearance came in an eight-round exhibition against Roy Jones Jr in 2020, which ended in a split-decision draw.

The ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ competed seriously between 1985 and 2005, establishing himself as one of the most feared knockout artists in history and setting the record for being the youngest ever heavyweight world champion.

However, Tyson will be 58 when his next fight rolls around, and he’s coming up against a man in supreme physical shape.

While the ‘Problem Child’ was edged out Tommy Fury in his first fight against an active professional boxer, he has shown devastating knockout power against the likes of Anderson Silva and Nate Robinson.
Worrying footage of Mike Tyson using a walking stick reemerges ahead of his fight with Jake Paul fight
Ex-bantamweight star Spencer Oliver recently described the fight as a ‘sad day for boxing’, while footage of Tyson on the bag left fans fearing for the icon’s safety.

“I’m scared about it to be honest,” Oliver said. “You look at the bad health he has been in recently, we’ve seen him on crutches and I think the kid from the Disney Channel is going to knock out Mike Tyson.”

He added: “I just can’t get my head around it to be honest. I think it is a sad day for the sport. What damage would that do to Mike Tyson’s legacy?

“We fast-forward twenty-odd years and he’s getting in the ring, and I think it is a sad spectacle because he probably gets knocked out.

“Have you seen the condition he is in? He is 57 years old and is not in great health, come on man.”

‘As soon as he hits him it’s over’ – UFC legend Chuck Liddell weighs in on controversial Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight

UFC icon Chuck Liddell is backing Mike Tyson to iron out Jake Paul when they meet in the ring.

Tyson and Paul are set to square off on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the home of NFL side Dallas Cowboys.

The fight, set to be broadcast on Netflix, has been met with widespread outrage from boxing fans due to the startling 31-year age gap between the pair.

Paul is in his athletic prime at 27 and has been active, while Tyson will have just celebrated his 58th birthday by the time he climbs into the ring.

In his heyday, Tyson was one of the most feared boxers of his era, with an extraordinary knockout record and was an undisputed heavyweight champion when there were only three recognised belts.

At 20 years old, he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history when he beat Trevor Berbick and has shared the ring with Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield en route to being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

However, age catches up with everyone and it is no different for ‘Iron Mike’.

Only a year and a half ago he was videoed walking with the support of a cane while a month later he was using a wheelchair to get around.

Yet despite serious concerns about Tyson’s condition, Liddell, a former long-reigning UFC light heavyweight champion, insists the boxing legend only needs one shot to shut off Paul’s lights.

“As soon as Tyson hits him, it’s over,” Liddell told TMZ. “The last thing to go is power.

“If he hits him, it’s over. If you’ve seen Mike, he still hits.”

Liddell then sent an eerie warning to ‘The Problem Child’: “Hey Jake, keep covered up, man.”

It is currently unclear whether Paul vs Tyson will be an exhibition bout or a professional contest, though the two will not wear headguards.

Jake Paul posts video of his stunned reaction to Mike Tyson training footage ahead of their fight on Netflix
According to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, organisers are trying to get it sanctioned as a professional bout under the auspices of the Texas Boxing Commission.

However, it seems unlikely any reputable governing body would put its name to the event.

There have been no updates on the number of rounds nor the weight they will be competing at.

Paul has mostly competed at cruiserweight (200lb) while Tyson weighed in at 220.4lb for his last exhibition bout against fellow boxing legend Roy Jones Jr in November 2020.

Mike Tyson scored one of his most controversial knockouts against a helpless Don Halpin in just his third fight as a pro boxer.

In 1985, aged just 18 – two years before his iconic world title triumph – Tyson began his career in fine fashion with two first-round finishes.

Next, ‘Iron Mike’ was scheduled to step up slightly and face Halpin – a more experienced journeyman who held a record of ten wins, 18 losses at the time.

Halpin used this experience to survive early on, though Tyson admittedly started far slower than he had in his first two wins.

The fight commentator noted: “It’s almost as if his corner have said to him, ‘Listen, you don’t have to win every fight inside one round.’”

In the fourth of this scheduled six-rounder, Tyson decided to dramatically increase the tempo.
Fans think Jake Paul will cancel upcoming fight with Mike Tyson as boxing legend posts new training footage
The prospect nailed the journeyman with a crunching right hand which saw him collapse against the ropes.

Halpin rose to his feet and fought on, but it only took a few seconds before a flurry of Tyson punches saw him fall once more.

This time he’d landed directly in the corner and the fight looked to be over.

However, the ruthless and relentless Tyson was not finished yet as he hurled one last uppercut which smashed his opponent in the head even though he was already down.

‘Iron Mike’ escaped without punishment and jumped onto the ropes to celebrate.

Thankfully Halpin was not too badly hurt and continued his career afterwards.

Regardless, at just 18, Tyson’s sometimes-uncontrollable aggression was clear to see.

This would be the first of many controversies which would eventually see him become one of the most famous men on the planet.

His enormous celebrity status still carries to this day and now, almost 40 years later, he is set to return to the ring to face Jake Paul on July 20.

Jake Paul’s next opponent Mike Tyson among 50 highest-paid athletes of all time – with combined $6 BILLION in earnings

Mike Tyson has made a fortune out of knocking people out.

‘Iron Mike’ was the youngest ever heavyweight champion at 20 years old and retired from boxing in 2005 with a 50-6 record, including 44 knockouts.

As you’d expect, the 57-year-old KO artist has been rewarded handsomely throughout his career.

According to Sportico’s recent list of the 50 highest-paid athletes of all-time, Tyson is the eighteenth wealthiest sportsman who ever lived, with $905m inflation-adjusted earnings.

The outlet revealed how they arrived at that figure: “Our earnings estimates are based on conversations with industry insiders, Sportico research and historical estimates in media outlets, such as Forbes and Sports Illustrated.

“Earnings include salaries, bonuses, prize money, purses, endorsements, licensing, royalties, memorabilia, book deals, media, and appearance fees.”

Tyson commanded substantial paydays throughout his Hall of Fame career.

He was given a hefty $1.5 million for his 1986 bout against Trevor Berbick that earned him the heavyweight belt before hitting double-figures in the 1990s.

The American reportedly pocketed $30 million for each of his fights with Evander Holyfield in 1996 and 1997 and $35 million for his 1996 bout with Frank Bruno.

However, his most significant windfall came from the Lennox Lewis contest in 2002, which reportedly saw him rake in $103 million.

Endorsement deals also substantially beefed up Tyson’s earnings, especially in the early days.

In 1986, when Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion in history, he was the face of brands like Pepsi, Nintendo, Eastman Kodak, and EA Sports.
Al-Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo discovers punishment for obscene gesture to fans in response to Lionel Messi chants
But by 1992 the former undisputed world heavyweight champion had lost many of those deals following his prison sentence, which he served three of six years for rape.

In 2003, he declared bankruptcy with $23 million in debts but in recent times has bounced back with lucrative endorsement deals.

Tyson has appeared in various TV shows and movies and partnered with brands like CopperGel, Black Energy Drink, and Smart Cups.

He also has his own popular podcast, ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson’, and teamed up with old foe Holyfield for a range of ear-shaped cannabis gummies, ‘Mike’s Bites’.

Mike also owns Tyson Ranch which reportedly earns around £500,000-per-month by offering premium marijuana strains, edibles and extracts.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Mike earned at least $430 million from fights and endorsements – around $700 million in today’s dollars.

And now, he has a mega fight with YouTuber Jake Paul set for 20 July which is set to substantially increase his earnings.

With that said, Tyson is not the wealthiest boxer on Sportico’s all-time list.

According to their findings, Floyd Mayweather occupies the tenth spot overall with $1.48 billion inflation-adjusted earnings.

All in all, seven boxers feature on the 50 highest-paid athletes of all-time list, including Tyson and Mayweather.

In 22nd place is Manny Pacquiao, valued at $750 million, followed by George Foreman in 26th at $705 million.

Oscar De La Hoya is 29th on the list with $685 million while Canelo Alvarez is 37th with $640 million.

Holyfield is the last boxer featured on the top 50 list – he’s in at No.40 with $630 million.

In total, those seven boxers account for a staggering $5.8 billion in career earnings.

Still, they have a way to go to catch the top earners.

Some believe that the 27-year-old novice fighter’s age advantage will be key.

They insist that Tyson, who will be 58 by the time the fight takes place, won’t be able to compete with the youth of his opponent.

    However, others say different.

They are adamant that the experience and sheer power of Tyson will be too much for Paul.

And new footage appearing to support that theory has now emerged.

A video from Tyson’s camp was put out on Friday night, showing that the legend has clearly already been keeping himself in shape.

The muscular former undisputed heavyweight world champion still appears an intimidating sight, despite the fact he is nearing 60 years of age.

One fan commented: “Mike is built different.”

Mike Tyson has been sent a serious health warning by a professional doctor after agreeing to fight Jake Paul.

The 27-year-old has received backlash from KSI, Eddie Hearn, Carl Froch and fans for signing to fight a faded legend who hasn’t had a real boxing bout in almost 20 years.

In an article for The Conversation, Senior Lecturer in Medicine at Anglia Ruskin University, Stephen Hughes, highlighted the potentially fatal injuries Tyson could suffer against Paul.

As he is an older man and recovering alcoholic, ‘Iron Mike’ is at risk of suffering a subdural haematoma, which is the tearing of veins in the brain.

“In older people, the brain tends to lose volume,” Hughes explained. “This lengthens the bridging veins and makes them more vulnerable to rupture.

“Bleeding from these torn veins causes a collection of blood that presses on the brain. This causes confusion, loss of consciousness, neurological disability and, in some cases, death.”

“Alcoholism is known to accelerate brain shrinkage, and it appears that Tyson has this as a past risk factor.”

The 57-year-old is also a higher risk when it comes to several heart conditions that could be brought on by overtraining for his comeback fight.

Hughes added: “Middle age sees an increase in the likelihood of cardiac events such as arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), angina (reduced blood flow to heart muscles), and myocardial infarction (heart attack).

“Keeping fit protects against cardiovascular disease, and Tyson’s exercise regime will benefit him greatly. However, the temptation to overdo it in the gym is always there.

“Extreme exercise can lead to cardiac fibrosis (scarring of the heart muscles), which over time may lead to heart failure or, sometimes, sudden death.
Fans suggest Mike Tyson could be ‘in trouble’ as new training footage emerges ahead of fight against Jake Paul on 20th July
“Coronary atherosclerosis (narrowed heart arteries) is common in middle age, even in seemingly healthy people. However, it can lead to sudden death during exercise.

“Although regular exercise reduces this risk, a cocaine habit elevates it considerably – and Tyson has been known to have used the drug in the past.”

Despite the risks, Tyson appears intent on pressing ahead with his fight with Paul, and he’s even convinced a few people he can pull off an almighty upset.

Tyron Woodley, who famously got KO’d by Paul, and UFC legend Chuck Liddell are two of the famous fighters backing Tyson to roll back the years when he returns to the ring this summer.

Most people are concerned for his health like Dr. Hughes.
