Evander Holyfield reveals what he thinks Oleksandr Usyk’s gameplan will be against Tyson Fury… as the Ukrainian bids to match his unique feat of being undisputed champion in two weight classes

Evander Holyfield believes Oleksandr Usyk will target Tyson Fury‘s eye in their undisputed title clash this weekend and recalls what it felt like to have blood running down his face during a fight.

Holyfield, often hailed as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, retired from professional boxing back in 2014 after a career that spanned nearly three decades.

Holyfield’s career was marked by numerous achievements, becoming the undisputed cruiserweight champion before stepping up in weight to knock James ‘Buster’ Douglas out to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Holyfield remains the only boxer in history to win the undisputed championship in two weight classes: cruiserweight and heavyweight – a feat Usyk is looking to achieve this weekend.

Holyfield believes Usyk will look to target Fury’s right eye as the Gypsy King sustained a cut during sparring that lead to this weekend’s undisputed title fight initially being postponed.

The highly-anticipated bout had been scheduled to take place in Riyadh Saudi Arabia on February 17 but was postponed until May 18 after Fury sustained an injury during camp.

Fury – who required 15 stitches after getting caught by Agron Smakici’s elbow – is confident his eye has healed despite the incident taking place on February 2 and insists it won’t be a problem on Saturday night.

Holyfield has first-hand experience when it comes to dealing with cuts on fight night as Larry Holmes opened a prior wound over his right eye during their bout in 1992.

However, Holyfield – who required 36 stitches – finished the fight and emerged victorious – with Holmes vomiting after the final bell due to total exhaustion.

Speaking about his experience dealing with a cut mid-fight and the impact it will have on this weekend’s fight, Holyfield told Mail Sport: ‘When you get cut, there is nothing quite like the feeling of your own blood. It’s warm, really warm.

‘Usually, when you get cut you’re tempted to keep touching it. But, you make it worse by touching it. The objective after getting cut is not to get it bust again or hit again.

So, you know, the fight is going to be a lot harder for you because you have to be cautious of it. It’s pretty aggravating!

‘Tactically, you have to keep your hands up to make sure you are protecting that area during the rest of the fight.

‘Usyk will target that area [against Fury on Saturday night]. That’s boxing. My old thing is that I am going to make you look bad or whatever.

‘If I think that could throw you off, I am going to do it. I am gonna hit you with six points, I am going to hit you with eight points. You aren’t thinking about anything else other than not letting him get the better of you!’.

Usyk is looking to follow in Holyfield’s footsteps this weekend by becoming just the second boxer in history to win the undisputed championship in two weight classes: cruiserweight and heavyweight.

Holyfield also won the heavyweight title four times, a record he shares with Muhammad Ali before retiring with a professional record of 44 wins (29 by knockout), 10 losses, and 2 draws.

His career was marked by several iconic fights and rivalries. His trilogy with Riddick Bowe stands out as one of the most thrilling in heavyweight history. The first bout in 1992 resulted in Holyfield’s first professional loss, but he reclaimed the WBA and IBF titles in their 1993 rematch, and their third fight in 1995 was another intense battle, with Bowe emerging victorious.

Another defining rivalry was with Mike Tyson. Their first encounter on November 9, 1996, saw Holyfield, an underdog, shock the world by defeating Tyson via an 11th-round TKO to claim the WBA heavyweight title. Their rematch on June 28, 1997, became infamous for Tyson biting Holyfield’s ear, resulting in Tyson’s disqualification.

Evander Holyfield’s retirement marked the end of an era in boxing, but his legacy endures. His remarkable achievements, thrilling fights, and the example he set both in and out of the ring continue to inspire future generations of boxers and sports enthusiasts around the world.

Why Prince Harry inherited MORE money than Prince William from major royal – and it’s not Princess Diana

WHEN Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit as senior royals in 2020, they insisted they wanted to become “financially independent”.

And it seems the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were able to do so with a little bit of help from inheritance.

Prince William, 41, and Harry, 39, received a hefty inheritance from their late mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997.

The People’s Princess left just shy of £13 million to her sons, which was reduced to £8.5 million after death duties.

This swelled to over £20 million thanks to years of savvy investments by royal advisors, with Harry and William not seeing the cash till their 20s.

But that’s not the only inheritance Diana and King Charles’ sons benefitted from.

He may be the youngest, but Harry reportedly got a bigger inheritance from their great-grandmother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, known as the Queen Mother, after she passed away in 2002.

She left an estimated £70m fortune, including works of art and house contents, to her only surviving daughter, Queen Elizabeth II.

But years prior in 1994, the Queen Mother also put two-thirds of her money into a trust fund for her great-grandchildren.

William and Harry were set to share about £14 million from the investment, the BBC reported in 2002.

Meghan & Harry declined invite to pal’s wedding ‘to avoid overshadowing bride’

However, it was reported that the bulk of the cash went to Harry because William will “benefit financially” by becoming king.

William is first in line to the throne, while Harry is fifth in line.

He follows William’s children with Kate Middleton: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

He will be further pushed down the ranks when his nieces and nephews eventually have kids of their own.

Harry married Meghan in May 2018, with televised ceremony taking place in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

But in January 2020, the pair posted on Instagram they plan to “step back” from royal duties and split their time between Britain and North America.

The couple revealed that they plan to become “financially independent” as they “carve out a progressive new role”.

They now have an £12.8million Californian mansion where they are raising their two children, Archie and Lilibet, which they are said to have taken out a £8.3million mortgage on.

Harry is thought to have an impressive net worth of about £48 million.

It is thought that Meghan is worth a similar amount, as the pair reportedly share their money and often take on projects together.

Before she tied the knot with Harry, Meghan was worth an estimated £3.5 million thanks to her role in American drama Suits.

Tyson Fury’s nutritionist reveals the secrets behind the Gypsy King’s drastic body transformation ahead of taking on Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh this Saturday

Tyson Fury‘s nutritionist has revealed some explanations behind his extreme weight loss ahead of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.

The Gypsy King, who holds the WBC heavyweight tile is due to meet his Ukrainian opponent at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.

Previously, Mail Sport reported fans’ reaction on Fury’s change in physique – even though it was said that the 35-years-old has likely been consuming around 6,000 calories a day.

His new look even concerned former boxer Carl Froch, who suspected that it could go against Fury as he might have slimmed down too  much.

But Greg Marriott – Fury’s nutritionist – is fully convinced in the British boxer as he still has the size advantage, expecting the fight to be like ‘man versus boy.’

Tyson Fury reveals why he REFUSED to look at Oleksandr Usyk during the final press conference before their undisputed heavyweight title showdown in Saudi Arabia

    article image

‘We went out to Jeddah in November and did a fat-loss camp for six weeks, then got into serious training,’ Marriott told Sky Sports at the press conference on Thursday. ‘I’ve been in camp with him for six months.’

‘Listen, he’s telling me himself, he’s never gonna be body beautiful. It’s not about that. The body composition that has changed with him… I think people think he’s gonna be like 17.13st (249lb) – never.’

‘People say, ‘What’s changed in camp the last three years?’ Me. I’m not being big-headed, it is. I’ve come in and I’ve said: ‘Right, this is what we’re gonna do.’ And it’s nice, because he’s trusted me with everything.’

Marriott noticed that Tyson Fury hadn’t had have a similar sensation since winning his second fight with Deontay Wilder in February, 2020.

Earlier, Fury shared some details of his strict diet, publishing a photo of his chicken, rice and salad lunch on social media.

‘Watch what he does to Usyk. It’ll be like man versus boy, I promise you. He’s a serious Tyson Fury at the minute,’ Marriott said.

‘What I’ve done in the past, he knows. I took 9st off him with Ben Davison in 2017 for his comeback. It’s come round full circle.’

Both Fury and Usyk were in deep preparations for the upcoming fight to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.

The British boxer has 34 wins with one draw, while Usyk maintains a perfect record of 21 wins and no defeats with 14 knockouts.

Zhilei Zhang reveals he still wants to face Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk… and admits he underestimated Joseph Parker and will learn his lesson ahead of Deontay Wilder bout

A little over a year ago, the casual boxing fan would likely not have known who Zhilei Zhang was.

He had just come off the back of a defeat to Filip Hrgovic, losing by unanimous decision with little direction in his career, 39 years old and time, in all honesty, running out.

Then, he swelled Joe Joyce’s face, backed it up by knocking him clean out, and showed the world what he was truly capable of.

It seemed the heavyweight division had a new star, peaking later in life than could have been imagined and ready to challenge at the very top.

A shock loss to Joseph Parker has put a major dent in that. But it’s not over yet, not according to Zhang himself.

Fury (left) nd Usyk will do battle this week as the heavyweight division looks to crown an undisputed champion

‘I lost fair and square,’ the heavyweight exclusively tells Mail Sport, speaking on behalf of Free Bets. ‘When I look back at that fight, I think I learned a lot from the experience.

‘I actually underestimated Parker, I had to admit. But at the same time, it’s a great lesson. It’s very valuable lesson for me and my team to learn. I would say that I learned a lot from that fight, and I’m coming back stronger.’

Next up is Wilder. One of the biggest punchers in the game, also in the twilight of his career and looking to climb the ladder one last time.

Whoever stumbles in Saudi Arabia on June 1 will likely fall all the way to the bottom, any prospects of a title push all but over. It’s an important fight.

‘Everything is going well,’ Zhang says, thankful to be asked how he is doing. ‘My strength conditioning coach, Dave – he goes by the name Scooter – and my boxing coach, Sean George, we’re all working together.

‘I have three wonderful sparring partners in this camp. Everything is ready. Everything has been processing very well.

‘This fight is very important to me, just like any other previous fights. I look at all my fights like they are the most important of my career, and then look at all of my opponent, including Wilder as my toughest challenge.

‘It is one of the fights in my career, that’s how I look at it. It’s just one fight in my career. But Wilder is a hell of an opponent. I really respect him, he has the punching power, and he has the ability to end the fight any time he wants, if he chooses to.

‘When I approached this fight, I was very careful, I was very cautious, but at the same time, I punch hard, too, and everybody knows that when my punch lands, it’s no joke, so let’s see what happens.’

The ultimate aim will depend on what happens this weekend in the Middle East. Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will do battle in one of the biggest heavyweight fights of all time to crown and undisputed champion once and for all.

The man who emerges victorious will have a major target on their back. There will likely be a rematch, Anthony Joshua will have a say, but other members of the division are on red alert.

‘Based on what I have seen on social media, I think both of the fighters are coming in great shape,’ Zhang says. ‘My gut feeling is leaning towards to Tyson Fury winning by decision.

‘I think size matters in this ring when it comes to the heavyweight division. Tyson Fury, taller, he has a longer reach, and he’s more flexible. Usyk is going to the fight being the smaller guy. I think it’s going to be pretty difficult for Usyk on the night.

‘I have somebody in front of me, but my goal has never changed. It will always be the world championship that that I’m searching for. So no matter who wins, that’s my final goal.’

He has revealed his ambition to have a world title fight in his home country of Chine one day

The ultimate dream is to fight in China as the boxing superstar he has become, a world title in hand. Zhang last fought in his home country in 2018, knocking out Don Haynesworth in a college gym.

Never has a heavyweight world title been defended in China. Xiong Zhaozhong won the WBC mini-flyweight title in 2012 in his home country, defending it there twice, but this is a completely different kettle of fish.

It’s about winning, getting to the very top, and giving his country something to be proud of, for Zhang.

‘My team and I have to overcome a lot of obstacles to make this happen in China, but I’m still very passionate about doing this over there,’ he says. It means a lot for me personally, and also for the fans in China.

‘I think they never had a chance to witness a world title, heavyweight championship, in front of their doorstep. So by doing that, I believe that gives them what they deserve.’

Tyson Fury flies into rage after being separated from Oleksandr Usyk at heated weigh-ins and unleashes FURIOUS tirade vowing to ‘knock that little f****r out’, as tensions boil over on eve of fight

Tyson Fury raged at Oleksandr Usyk in what was a heated final face-off during the weigh-ins ahead of their colossal undisputed heavyweight showdown on Saturday in Saudi Arabia.

The Gypsy King, who has been hailed for his incredible body transformation ahead of this bout, weighed in 39lbs (two stone) heavier than his opponent, at 262lbs, with Michael Buffer announcing Usyk had weighed in at 233lbs – the heaviest weight he has recorded in his career. Although there has been some speculation over the Ukrainian’s weight online, after fans overheard officials reading out the figure as 223.19lbs.

But conversely to Thursday’s well-mannered press conference, tempers flared after both fighters had stepped off the scales. The heavyweights squared off and butted heads on stage. A fracas subsequently broke out with Fury appearing to push Usyk away from him, before the pair were pulled away by their respective teams.

After the mele had died down, Fury unleashed a furious tirade to a DAZN reporter, shouting: ‘I’m coming for his heart. F*** his belts, I’m coming for his f***ing heart. I’m going to knock him spark out. F*** all his team, f*** the lot of them! They can all get it if they want to. S***houses!’

The Gypsy King was also asked how he was feeling after the face-off, to which he replied: ‘I’m ready to rock and roll tonight, I’m going to knock this little f***er spark out.’

Usyk, conversely was much calmer, delivering a final message to Fury ahead of the bout.

He also revealed the advice his father would have given him ahead of the fight, stating: ‘Son, you can [do it].

‘It’s my plan. If I will be nervous, I will not win.’

‘My fans – I love you! See you tomorrow,’ he added.

Usyk had arrived at the arena first and seemed in an excellent mood as he jumped up and down dancing while he made his way to the stage.

The Manchester-born fighter followed him in next, wearing a pair of navy sweatpants with no top on. He too looked pumped as he punched the air with his hands on the way to the stage.

When asked why he didn’t face off against Usyk, Fury had told Sky Sports, ‘He’s a scary-looking dude.’

He added: ‘I’m just here to relax now and wait until I get into the ring on Saturday night. All the talking is done, all the interviewing is done. I’m really relaxed and focused.’

Usyk said: ‘Let’s make history. Enough.’

Several of boxing’s legendary fighters were in the audience to watch the weigh in, including Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis, who fought for the undisputed heavyweight title back in 1999.

Ahead of his bout against Francis Ngannou in October last year, Fury had weighed in at 277.7lbs.

Today he came in 44.2lbs lighter than he was ahead of his victory against the former UFC star.

But despite his remarkable transformation, fellow heavyweight fighter Joseph Parker believes the Gypsy King is still a ‘very big man’.

‘He’s just a lot more confident in this fight and that also comes down to his work and the team that he has had in his camp. Sparring is the most important thing heading into this fight,’ the heavyweight told TNT Sports, ahead of the weigh-in.

He added: ‘The advantage for Tyson is his size and reach and I think he has to use that advantage, I know he has lost a lot of weight but he is still a big man.’

He said that the Gypsy King is eating up to six meals per day in the run-up to the fight.

Fury has previously shared shots of his strict diet, with the WBC heavyweight posting a picture of a plate loaded with salad, chicken and rice on his social media.

Claims have also been made that Fury has added more garlic to his diet in a bid to help him recover from the cut he received above his eye during a sparring session earlier this year.

But there have been some concerns that the British fighter’s weight loss could have a detrimental impact to his punching power.

Marriott gave some insights to Fury’s nutrition over the past six months, telling Sky Sports on Thursday: ‘We went out to Jeddah in November and did a fat-loss camp for six weeks, then got into serious training. I’ve been in camp with him for six months.

‘Watch what he does to Usyk. It’ll be like man versus boy, I promise you. He’s a serious Tyson Fury at the minute,’ Marriott added.

Usyk too has been through an incredible transformation in recent years. While his opponent has looked to become leaner, the Ukrainian fighter has added bulk and power.

The 37-year-old had earned his first world title at cruiserweight and has only fought six times in the heavyweight division. He was also notably undefeated in 16 bouts at cruiserweight.

Yet his seamless transformation into the heavyweight division has been, in part, down to his stellar training regime and his dedication to the profession.

Why does Meghan Markle hide her feet? Duchess of Sussex often wears clothes that are too long for her 5ft 6in frame during public appearances – but a celebrity stylist reveals the unusual reason for her fashion choice

Meghan Markle is known for her chic style, which has evolved significantly since she and Prince Harry stepped down as working royals and moved to California to start a new life together.

But as she and the Duke of Sussex carry out ‘quasi-royal’ duties including their tour of Nigeria and events marking the Invictus Games, a new trend appears to be emerging in Meghan’s outfits as she dons trousers, skirts and dresses that appear altogether too long for her.

Instead of tailoring her maxi outfits so they perfectly match her 5ft 6in frame, the Duchess often wears clothes that no doubt add to her chic style, but also drag along the floor as she walks.

It might seem an odd miss in the otherwise incredibly stylish Duchess’s repertoire – but a celebrity style expert has suggested Meghan’s perceived oversight may actually be a very deliberate decision on her part in order to create a particular illusion.

During Meghan and Harry’s ‘quasi-royal’ tour of Nigeria, the Duchess showcased several examples of very long clothing.

One such outfit came in the city of Abuja, where she opted for an aptly-named Windsor dress in blush silk, which retails for £1,106.

Its California-based designer, Heidi Merrick (one of the Duchess’s favourites) actually offers a slightly altered version of the frock for petite customers via its tailoring service.

However as Meghan danced the afternoon away at the Wuse Lightway Academy, she appeared not to have opted for the tailored version of the frock and instead donned a version which skimmed the floor as she bopped to Jump Up, Turn Around.

Similarly in Lagos, the former senior working royal chose to wear a Carolina Herrera Silk Overlay Column gown in ‘taxi cab’ yellow.

Meghan was all smiles as she soaked up the sun in the 30-degree weather and visited the Lagos State Governor’s Office.

And yet again, she wore a lengthy vibrant and flamboyant ensemble that dragged along the grass lawn.

Celebrity stylist Rochelle White told Femail that the Duchess likely wears long clothing that covers her feet because it gives the illusion of height.

She said: ‘Long dresses and trousers, depending on body type, can help to elongate the body and shape.

‘They can make you look taller and depending on the styles can help to define areas of the body you either want to highlight or cover up.’

When the royal couple spent a week in Frankfurt last summer to attend the Invictus Games, Meghan wore an all-brown ensemble on a day that saw them both watching events and attending a NATO meeting.

This was made up of a chocolate-coloured blouse and creased taupe trousers that trailed along the floor.

She stood next to Prince Harry – who is a whopping 6ft 2inches in height – and although she barely came up to his shoulder, Rochelle says she appears taller because of her outfit choice.

The Duchess has worn long ensembles throughout the years including on her trip to Morocco in 2019

She said: ‘Looking at Meghan, I feel that these styles make her look taller and highlight her silhouette. I feel it makes her look taller.

‘I feel that she knows her body and the things or items that work for her best and is tapping into that with her looks.’

In 2018, during Meghan’s trip to Edinburgh with Harry, she proudly donned a pair of lengthy, flared black trousers which were too long for her despite wearing a pair of heels.

As the Duchess was busy greeting people who braved the unpredictable Scottish weather to see the former royals, the slacks were pulled along the wet concrete, gathering dirt on the bottom of them.

In 2018 during her visit to Sydney, the mother-of-two was pictured walking along the sand in a black and white striped maxi dress and the following year during her visit to Morocco with Harry, Meghan donned a large cobalt patterned frock.

It’s no secret that her wardrobe is different from Kate’s, with Rochelle noting that the Princess of Wales opts for more traditional pieces of clothing.

She said: ‘Meghan has more of trendy edge when it comes to her style. Kate is very classic and chic in her fits and style with traditional pieces thrown in.

‘With Meghan, I feel she is very much herself and has elements that really showcase her personality and personal style.

‘With off the shoulder tops, shorts, co-ords and racer back tops, she doesn’t hide what she likes and what works for her.’

While Kate tends to wear more fitted dresses and tailored trousers, Meghan’s style is dubbed more relaxed and personal.

Dr. Allen Onyema, founder of Nigerian airline Air Peace, provided the Sussex’s with free flights during their three day tour of Nigeria to celebrate 10 years of Harry’s Invictus Games.

However DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that he is also a wanted man in the US, facing multiple charges linked to millions of dollars worth of alleged fraud set down in a federal indictment filed in November 2019.

Stanley Olisa at Air Peace said the Sussexes were given the ‘complimentary flights’ by the CEO, along with ‘everything they wanted’ becasue ‘they are royals‘.

Harry’s Nigeria Unconquered team ended up losing 21-25 to the Chief of Defence staff squad with all the players being wounded military personnel

The indictment accuses Onyema of allegedly ‘using his status as a prominent business leader and airline executive to launder more than $20million from Nigeria through US bank accounts’.

There is no suggestion that either Harry or Meghan were aware of Onyema’s history before they met him.

Mr Olisa told the Mirror: ‘The planes were chartered. It was just the royals and their entourage. They were not flying with other passengers. We understand that they are royals so we gave them top-tier treatment on board. They were given everything they wanted. It was an exclusive experience. And we flew them back to Abuja in the evening. Everything was complimentary.’

He added: ‘The chairman of Air Peace gave Prince Harry and his wonderful wife Meghan free flights to Lagos and back as part of his contribution to the successful hosting of the couple.’

In total the couple and their entourage flew 664 miles on a 120 seat plane creating around 12 tonnes of carbon emissions.

The average annual carbon footprint for one person per year is about four tonnes.

This whooping figure has left some angry at the Sussex’s for being hypocritical, as it 2019, while still working royals, the pair launched the Travalyst initiative.

He spent three years as the public face of the initiative to encourage the tourism industry to become more sustainable – despite a furore over his use of private jets.

Like his father King Charles, who has spoken out for more than 50 years on issues such as sustainability and climate change, Harry has also been a vocal champion of environmental causes.

During the visit the couple visited a local charity and met with military leaders, injured soldiers and school children, all of whom welcomed them smiles and enthusiasm.

Robert Murphy, the agent in charge of the DEA Atlanta field division said: ‘Allan Onyema’s status as a wealthy businessman turned out to be a fraud. He corrupted the US banking system, but his trail of deceit and trickery came to a skidding halt.’

The indictment goes on to allege that Onyema set up various ‘innocent sounding multi-million-dollar asset purchases which were nothing more than alleged fronts for his scam’.

It states that Onyema is the founder and chairman of several organizations across Nigeria, including the Foundation for Ethnic Harmony, International Center for Non-Violence and Peace Development and All-Time Peace Media Communications Limited.

Air Peace’s Chief of Administration and Finance, Ejiroghene Eghagha, has also been charged along with Onyema.

Both men were charged on one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, three counts of bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit credit application fraud and three counts of credit application fraud. However it is understood that they deny the claims.

Harry – who at times appeared concerned – continually cast a vigilant eye towards his wife as their US and American security team tried to keep control

This comes after it was alleged that King Charles was ‘absolutely furious’ that the trip had taken place anyway.

Author Tom Quinn said: ‘Everything you might expect from an official royal visit was there – the receptions, the visits to schools and charities, to wounded soldiers and the disabled.

‘Meghan and Harry’s speeches and their whole attitude has been designed to give the impression that they are still fully paid-up royals and William and his father King Charles don’t like it one bit.’

Mr Quinn said that Harry and Meghan appear to have ‘gone rogue’, adding ‘for Charles and William, it’s as if Meghan and Harry are saying, ‘We don’t need your permission to be working royals – we will do it on our own terms whenever and wherever we like’.

Royal expert Michael Cole told MailOnline that although the couple were on ‘a private visit by two royal personages’, they ‘exploited their royal status to the very limit and in every way, trying to give the impression that it was the real thing’.

He said that although the Sussexes’ trip ‘wasn’t a state visit, an official visit or a royal tour’, it seemed like a ‘tour proposed by Buckingham Palace and sanctioned by the British government’.

He added that the couple ‘succeeded to such an extent that they will return to California well satisfied with their three days in Nigeria’.

Despite this disapproval the Sussexes now have ‘other trips planned for the remainder of the year’ and hope to ‘share more details in the coming weeks’.

The insider added: ‘It is definitely possible they could return to Africa for more tours after that.’

The Sussex’s and Air Peace have been approached for comment.

King Charles did not meet with Prince Harry as he was busy rewarding senior peer who masterminded his Coronation and Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, EMILY PRESCOTT reveals

It was a packed day of royal engagements that kept the King from meeting Prince Harry during his whistle-stop visit to the UK.

Now I can reveal that one of the items of business which kept the monarch from seeing his son was rewarding the senior peer who masterminded both his Coronation and his mother’s funeral.

Eyebrows had been raised when the Duke of Norfolk was apparently overlooked in the New Year Honours, given his pivotal role in making both occasions such successes.

But on May 7, at a private meeting in Buckingham Palace, the King presented him with a silver gilt Coronation Cup, continuing a 300-year tradition.

The 18th Duke tells me the gift has taken pride of place on the mantelpiece in his medieval family home, Arundel Castle in West Sussex.

‘After the Coronation, the King wrote a wonderful letter saying thank you, adding that a gift would be on its way,’ the Duke, 67, revealed. ‘I am absolutely delighted with the Coronation Cup.’

Monarchs have gifted gilded cups to their Earls Marshal – holders of the hereditary office responsible for major ceremonial state occasions – since George II’s Coronation in 1727, overseen by the 8th Duke of Norfolk.

George III, George IV, William IV, George VGeorge VI and Elizabeth II continued the tradition.

But all seven cups were stolen in 2021, when a burglar broke into Arundel Castle with a hammer and grabbed £1 million worth of antiques. No one has ever been convicted and police believe it unlikely the items will ever be found.

The presentation was one of several meetings Charles had on the day Harry landed in London.

The next day, while his son was at St Paul’s Cathedral, the King held a garden party and several meetings including with the Prime Minister and, reportedly, David Beckham.

Prince William is set to be an usher at the Duke of Westminster’s ‘society wedding of the year’ – but King Charles won’t attend amid rumours of tension over past Queen Camilla ‘snub’… and Harry isn’t even invited

By Charlotte Griffiths and Nathan Kay and Cameron Roy

Prince William is set to be an usher at his friend the Duke of Westminster’s wedding but King Charles won’t attend amid rumours of tension over a past Queen Camilla ‘snub’.

Prince Harry is also expected to miss the event over worries his attendance may cause family awkwardness which could overshadow his friend Hugh Grosvenor, and his bride-to-be, Olivia Henson’s big day on June 7.

The King and Queen will miss the ‘society wedding of the year’, over claims they have not forgotten about what happened at the 2004 wedding of Hugh’s sister.

They turned down their invitations at the time to Lady Tamara Grosvenor and Edward van Cutsem’s wedding, which was held at the same venue as the duke’s upcoming wedding: Chester Cathedral.

Camilla Parker Bowles, as she was then, had been told that she would not be allowed to sit with Prince Charles and would instead be seated several rows back and be made to arrive separately.

This was because of royal protocol since Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip attended the ceremony, along with Princes William and Harry.

Tensions were heightened by reports that Emilie van Cutsem, the groom’s mother, and Camilla had fallen out after each is alleged to have criticised the behaviour of the other’s children.

Charles ultimately excused himself from the event with just days to go, saying he had to visit Warminster barracks to meet the families of soldiers serving in Iraq. Camilla was described as ‘otherwise engaged’.

According to royal author Sarah Bradford, Camilla was so infuriated that she told Charles the status quo was no longer acceptable. Their own engagement was announced three months later.

The King, who is Grosvenor’s godfather, is still undergoing cancer treatment and will be travelling to France the day before the ceremony next month with the Queen and Prince William to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy.

Another aspect of the upcoming wedding that has been the talk of the town for months is why Prince Harry may have turned down an invitation from his old friend.

Now friends of the Royal Family think they have solved the mystery, claiming that Prince Harry refused to attend when he discovered his brother William had been given a prominent role.

Tonight the Sunday Times reported that the Prince of Wales will be an usher at the duke’s wedding to Olivia Henson.

The Mail on Sunday understands that his son Prince George is set have a prominent role too, as he is the duke’s godson. The attendance of King Charles, who is the duke’s godfather, is yet to be officially confirmed or denied.

Friends of King Charles use late Queen’s famous ‘recollections may vary’ phrase as they raise eyebrows over claims monarch ‘refused to find space in his diary’ to see Prince Harry while in the UK

It was the phrase famously used by the late Queen when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle criticised the royals in their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.

Now, the words ‘recollections may vary’ have returned three years later, with a friend of King Charles III using it to deny claims that he ‘refused to find space in his diary’ to see his son Harry during the estranged royal’s three-day visit to Britain last week.

A war of words has now broken out among sources close to Charles and Harry over what actually happened, after the Duke of Sussex flew into London for three days of events related to the Invictus Games including a service at St Paul’s Cathedral.

In the days before Harry’s visit, he was reported to have been keen to see his father – with sources close to the Duke insisting he had asked for the meeting in advance.

But those close to the King suggested the monarch did not know of this request or an invitation to the service, which Harry is said to have extended to senior royals.

Known as ‘Huey’ to friends, the 33-year-old duke is one of very few to remain close friends with both William and Harry.

Friends have suggested the Prince of Wales was first asked in December to be an usher at the wedding at Chester Cathedral next month. At one stage, he was even said to have been earmarked as a best man.

Harry was said to have been ‘put out’ by the news because he had always regarded himself as being closer to the duke – who is also godfather to the Sussexes’ first-born, Prince Archie.

Last night, a well-informed source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘William was asked to have a prominent role in the wedding and that’s what triggered Harry to decline an invitation. Apparently he [Harry] was put out by the request when he thought it should have been him.’

Referencing the lack of public details about the occasion, the source added: ‘Both the Palace and Hugh’s people decided to hold dear the operational part of the wedding once the leak about Harry not attending made the papers.’

Last year, it was claimed that Prince Harry had been ‘snubbed’ from the wedding, but a source close to the Sussexes was at pains to explain to US publication Page Six that both Meghan and Harry had in fact received invitations, but had jointly decided to decline.

Neither Harry nor his wife Meghan Markle will attend the wedding, which is expected to have 400 guests, despite Grosvenor being so close to Harry that he is a godfather to the couple’s five-year-old son Prince Archie.

Prince William will be among the groom’s party, but the Princess of Wales, who is receiving cancer treatment, is not expected to attend.

Grosvenor, known as ‘Hughie’ to his friends, and Henson, were introduced by mutual friends in 2021.

The couple have insisted on a ‘strictly no-gifts policy’ for their guests, according to The Sunday Times.

The Duke inherited his £9.3billion fortune when his father Gerald Grosvenor suffered a sudden heart attack while out on a country walk and died aged 64 in 2016.

He inherited 300 acres across the affluent London areas of Mayfair and Belgravia, as well as estates in Oxford, Scotland and properties around the globe. This includes his current residence at Eaton Hall, the 10,872-acre family estate.

After the wedding service at Chester Cathedral, guests will then enjoy a grand reception at nearby Eaton Hall.

The following day they will host a second, smaller reception at Eaton Hall for close family and friends, but further details of both receptions are being kept secret.

Sustainability will be a key feature of the wedding, with all food, flowers and products used for the wedding locally sourced where possible.

The following day they will host a second, smaller reception at Eaton Hall for close family and friends, but further details of both receptions are being kept secret.

The city of Chester is also bracing itself for the celebrations, with thousands of people expected to line the streets.

Some shops, restaurants and cafés near the cathedral will be closed on the day for access and security.

A spokesman for Kensington Palace said the Prince of Wales is attending the wedding in a private capacity, and said it does not comment on events during his private time.

A representative for Prince Harry was also contacted for comment.

Earlier this month, the engaged couple visited several local charities in Chester helped by the Westminster Foundation – showcasing their charisma and drawing comparisons from the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Grosvenor, who is known to be publicity-shy and has always maintained a low profile despite his extreme wealth, is known to be ‘incredibly excited’ but ‘nervous’ about the wedding.

Olivia and Hugh announced their engagement on April 23, 2023, after two years of dating.

Raised at Eaton Hall, Cheshire, Hugh Grosvenor was privately educated at Ellesmere College before obtaining a BSc in Countryside Management from Newcastle University.

After his graduation, Grosvenor worked in estate management at the food and agriculture company Wheatsheaf Group, an investment business based in the Eaton estate and owned by the Grosvenor Group.

Afterwards, he held an account manager position at sustainability company bio-bean, which turns coffee-related waste into bioproducts such as biofuels and logs.

The future Duchess of Westminster also comes from a wealthy background. Olivia descends from the Hoare banking family as well as the Marquesses of Bristol and the Dukes of Rutland, according to the Telegraph.

The outlet also says her uncle is the Grand Master of Scottish freemasons and her father is stockbroker Rupert Henson.

Olivia reportedly also has a 29-year-old brother who works in asset management and a 26-year-old sister who’s in a brand relationships role.

She is also said to speak Spanish and Italian after completing a Hispanic Studies and Italian degree at Trinity College in Dublin.

Much like the Princess of Wales, Olivia is understood to have attended the elite Marlborough College, and before that was at the equally revered Dragon School in Oxford along with fellow alum Emma Watson.

She worked at Daily Dose LDN and No1 Rosemary Water before landing a role at Belazu – a B Corp ingredients brand – where she is currently a Key Account Manager, in 2019.

Close friends with the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke is the youngest of Prince George’s godparents.

He has previously represented the country at Olympic Skeet Shooting competitions both internationally and in the UK.

Hugh previously dated property and recruitment consultant Harriet Tomlinson, but the couple, who met at £6,000-a-term day school Ellesmere College in Shropshire, split in 2020.

The Duke also supports the rehabilitation of wounded or injured members of the Armed Forces and donated £2.5million to the Health Service when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, but said he was so ‘humbled’ by the work of doctors and nurses he wanted to give another £10million.

Fans claim ‘cool as a cucumber’ Oleksandr Usyk is ‘under Tyson Fury’s skin’ after ‘Gypsy King’ unleashes angry tirade following weigh-ins

Fans have claimed that Oleksandr Usyk has gotten under Tyson Fury‘s skin following an intense face-off ahead of their highly-anticipated undisputed clash.

At Friday’s official weigh-in Fury tipped the scales at 262lbs, the lightest he has been since taking on Otto Wallin in Las Vegas back in 2019.

Meanwhile former undisputed cruiserweight king Usyk weighed in at 233lbs, more than 10lbs heavier than he was against Daniel Dubois in August of last year.

Following the weigh-ins the two fighters joined on the stage to face-off for the final time before they meet inside the ring in Riyadh.

After not looking at his opponent during a press conference earlier this week, Fury wasted little time in getting in Usyk’s face on Friday, squaring up to the Ukrainian before pushing him on the stage.

Another claimed: ‘Fury looked EXTREMELY nervous.’

A third fan added: ‘Fury is one very nervous man most rattled I’ve ever seen him.’

Saturday’s showdown is set to crown the heavyweight division’s first undisputed king since Lennox Lewis bested Evander Holyfield over twelve rounds in November 1999 to claim all of the belts.

Speaking following the face-off, Fury launched into an expletive-laden tirade insisting that he is not motivated by the titles on the line.

The ‘Gypsy King’ was knocked down against Steve Cunningham in his US debut in 2013, before brutally knocking out his opponent in the seventh round.

Fury also tasted the canvas in the first and third fight of his trilogy against hard-hitting American Deontay Wilder. He would go on to draw the first fight despite being knocked down twice, before winning their third fight by eleventh round knockout after being dropped twice in the fourth round.

While those knockdowns added to the mystique of Fury – it was the knock down he experienced in his most recent bout that has some concerned the 35-year-old could be past his best.

He was dropped when he took on professional boxing debutant and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in Ocotber of last year.

Fury would ultimately go on to win that fight by split decision – but it was a far from convincing performance.

Meanwhile, if the 66/1 RequestABet piques your interest – which requires Usyk to win by KO/TKO and Fury to be knocked down in round 8 – let’s take a look at the Ukrainian’s career to date and why that bet could prove good value.

Of Usyk’s 14 career knockout victories – five have come in either round 8 or 9. His most recent bout against Daniel Dubois ended in a round 9 knockout, with the Brit also having been knocked down in round 8.

Meanwhile, if you’re after RequestABets that are fancied by the bookies, a price of 5/4 is available for both fighters to land 125+ punches each, and 2/1 odds for Fury to land 10+ punches in both rounds 1 and 2.
