    Meghan’s letter to dad revealed

Meghan wrote letter to estranged dad Thomas after her wedding to Prince Harry

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, reached out to her dad, Thomas, after his no-show at her wedding in a surprising and heartfelt way.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, wrote to her estranged dad begging him to stop “victimising” her after she married Prince Harry, it has been claimed.

The Duchess gave Thomas Markle an olive branch after telling him: “I have one father” — but incredibly he responded by shamelessly asking for a photo shoot with her.

Five “close friends” told People magazine the Meghan had been left absolutely “devastated” by her dad’s response.

It comes after a turbulent 18 months for Meghan since her relationship with Prince Harry was revealed, with her family repeatedly cashing in on her rising profile, reports The Sun.

Meghan’s family drama has seen Thomas interviewed on national television, calling his daughter “controlling” while her half-sister Samantha Markle regularly takes to social media to criticise her.

But speaking anonymously, the pals revealed the 37-year-old had tried to reach out to her 73-year-old dad after he pulled out of walking her down the aisle and gave a string of interviews with the press.

In the letter, the pregnant duchess reportedly wrote: “I have one father. Please stop victimising me through the media.”

A friend reportedly said: “After she and Harry got back from honeymoon, Meg sat down and wrote Thomas a long letter.

“She told him she loved him, she was heartbroken and wanted to put everything behind them.

“She forgave him for everything that had happened previously and just wanted to repair their relationship.

“Meg asked him to stop victimising her through the media and talk to her, not them.

“He replied in a very long letter, saying he loved her and wanted to make amends.

“But he finished the letter with the suggestion that the two of them should pose for a picture or stage a picture to show the world they’d made up.

    “She was absolutely devastated.

“It was posing for pictures that had started this mess, and now he wanted to do the same thing with her?

“She just couldn’t believe it so she didn’t reply.

“He has her number, she hasn’t changed it. But he’s never called or texted, despite what he says.”

The friends, said to be in Meghan’s inner circle, told the publication that the former actress had even called her dad on the morning of her wedding, saying: “I think she will always feel genuinely devastated by what he has done.”

It come after Thomas Markle claimed he had not had any contact with Meghan since she married Prince Harry last May.

He was left embarrassed after it emerged he had staged photographs with paparazzi in the lead up to the royal wedding.

Friends said Meghan had asked her dad about the story before it was released, with the recluse swearing “up and down” it wasn’t true.

They said: “The next day, the pictures come out.”

Thomas last year claimed he feared he had been ghosted by Meghan — begging her to text him.

But Meghan’s friends said she had been a “rock” for everyone in her family, saying: “The fact that this could be flipped around, that she was acting out or not caring for him, is preposterous.”

Sticking up for Meghan, the group of friends also hit out at claims she was “difficult” — as well as speculation she had clashed with sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

They said: “She is the same person though everything around her has changed.

“There is nothing behind the feud with Kate. It’s completely untrue.”

    DID BABY SUSSEX KICK?

It comes as an adorable video has emerged that appears to have shown Meghan glancing down at her stomach which keen onlookers have suggested is baby Sussex giving mum a bit of a kick.

Max Verstappen proved once again that he is after all a winning machine. The Dutchman is now probably the only driver to win two races during the same weekend. First, he won the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP from Lando Norris. He then went on to win iRacing’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring for his sim-racing team, Team Redline, on the same day! But his victorious afternoon was threatened to be ruined, owing to Valtteri Bottas’ love for coffee.

As Team Redline explained on their Instagram account, they installed Verstappen’s sim-rig for the weekend in his motorhome. However, a sudden power cut happened. This sent the cat amongst the pigeons for the #1 driver’s team who had to scout out an APC urgently. As revealed later, the power cut was actually because of Bottas‘ coffee machine.

It was a herculean task by Verstappen and his sim-racing team to pull off his appearance on the same weekend as a Grand Prix. But, some paddock friends made it possible. The three-time world champion’s bespoke sim rig was supposed to be shipped by an F2 team – MP Motorsport.

However, the dimensions of the rig meant that it was not possible through their trailer. But, MP Motorsport hustled alongside Team Redline to ensure that Verstappen’s gear was at Imola.

In the end, a lucky bumping into a ‘flower guy’ who needed to be there in Imola on business meant the 26-year-old’s rig was in his motorhome in time for him to jump in for his stints.

Bottas, on the other hand, unwittingly could’ve rained on the Dutchman’s parade. The Team Redline video revealed that a certain driver’s “shortcut” on his coffee machine led to the power cut. It was later reported that the driver in question was Bottas as per a Dutch podcast – Telegraaf Formule 1.

Max Verstappen conquered Imola and Nürburgring in one weekend

Verstappen caught all the headlines when the news broke that he would be taking part in the virtual 24 Hours of Nurburgring on the same weekend that the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP was happening. However, in the end, the Dutchman prevailed as he won both races.

The Dutchman joined Team Redline for his stint in the sim race after grabbing pole for Sunday’s Grand Prix. He helped extend their lead during his stint and then promptly prepared for the Grand Prix. Just before the start of the race at Imola, his team crossed the chequered flag in first position.

Verstappen then went on to register the second race win of the day. The McLaren of Lando Norris hounded him during the last ten laps. Still, the Dutchman was just able to edge out and grab his 59th career Grand Prix win – by just 0.7 seconds.

After the conclusion of the weekend, his Team Redline boss even joked that he had “allowed” Verstappen to participate in the F1 Grand Prix as the team always allowed their drivers to follow their “hobbies.”

After losing out on his second Grand Prix win to Max Verstappen at the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP, McLaren’s Lando Norris had remarked that a lap or two more would have allowed him to beat the Dutchman to the chequered flag. The gap between the duo as the race concluded was only 0.7 seconds. But, according to BBC’s Andrew Benson, Norris could not have passed Verstappen at any rate.

Speaking on the BBC’s F1: Chequered Flag podcast, Benson explained, “I don’t actually agree with Norris. [Oscar] Piastri spent twenty laps behind a Ferrari that he was much quicker than in the first stint and couldn’t get past.”

The Imola circuit is notorious for being difficult to overtake. The strip of tarmac is narrow and the profile of the circuit makes it very difficult for cars to pass, even if they have a clear pace advantage. Even Red Bull’s Sergio Perez complained how his race was ruined owing to Imola’s inherent nature and track profile. Hence, being on pole was key for Verstappen.

Benson even went on to say that Norris couldn’t have passed the three-time world champion even if they ran another 63 laps of the race. McLaren team principal, Andrea Stella even called Verstappen “lucky” to be on pole, after receiving some help from Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg, as per GPBlog.com.

Is Red Bull ready to be dethroned by McLaren?

The Emilia Romagna GP could be a season-defining race. Even though Max Verstappen secured the fifth win of his season and extended his lead in the driver’s championship, the signs were ominous for the Dutchman and his team.

Red Bull have become used to winning by a large margin. But their dominance seems to have come to an end. At the 2024 Miami GP, Lando Norris grabbed his maiden F1 win.

He did take advantage of a Safety Car to jump Verstappen to the lead. However, from there onwards he pulled a seven-second gap to the #1 driver. Something no one has done in the ground-effects era.

During the Grand Prix on Sunday, Verstappen did not look in complete control of the race. He pulled a gap to Norris during the opening stint of the race. But, after the pit stops, Norris neutralized the gap to around six seconds.

Then, the last ten laps of the race saw the #4 driver eat away into the Dutchman’s lead rapidly, who seemed to be struggling with rear degradation. Despite being on five laps older tires than Verstappen, Norris cut the gap down to just 0.7 seconds, but Verstappen took the chequered flag to win the race.

Max Verstappen proved his mettle as a three-time champion when the Imola GP win almost slipped out of his hand into Lando Norris’ pocket. The McLaren team boss, Andrea Stella praised how the Dutchman was the difference at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, a weekend where Red Bull looked very unsettled.

On the contrary, McLaren were rather good and battled fiercely to challenge for the top step of the podium. Stella told De Telegraaf, as quoted by @JunaidSamodien_ on X (formerly Twitter),

“We know that Red Bull has a very good car, but one day today we also see the qualities of the driver who won the race. It also helped Max [Verstappen] enormously that he took pole position on Saturday.”

Right from Friday practice, the RB20 was at unease even in Verstappen’s hands, as the 26-year-old had multiple offs through the gravel. Meanwhile, the Woking team seemed to have honed in their Miami GP upgrades on both cars.

Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri challenged Verstappen for pole position but fell short by a whisker. This gave McLaren hope that they could challenge Red Bull in the Grand Prix to some extent.

However, when lights went out, the defending champion gained a comfortable lead. Stella reflected on how Verstappen was able to run very well in his first stint on the medium tires.

This put Norris, who was running in P2 on the back foot, as he had to go into tire conservation mode, especially in his second stint on hard tires.

However, as the laps ticked down, Verstappen started losing grip as he experienced on Friday, as Norris came back in the hunt.

McLaren’s upgrades were showing that the McLaren MCL38 could run at pace with Verstappen and hustle him. Eventually, Norris had to settle for second by just 0.7 seconds. Still, Verstappen and Red Bull felt the heat.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez did not like the Imola GP track experience

Red Bull had all the reasons to be unhappy with their Imola GP experience, despite coming out on top in the end. Max Verstappen commented post-race that he felt the effects of bouncing and porpoising due to multiple bumps on the track.

The 26-year-old stated, “I’m just broken from the bumps, to be honest. My back, everything is hurting. It’s not so much from the physical side of things, but just it was so bumpy out there. Already after like 20 laps, I could really feel my back.”

Now, Verstappen still managed to pull off a great result, despite Norris hounding him in the final 10 laps of the Grand Prix. On the other hand, Sergio Perez had a weekend to forget in Imola.

The Mexican driver missed out on getting into Q3 by a tenth of a second. The more embarrassing aspect was that both V-CARBs and the Haas of Nico Hulkenberg out-qualified him to be in the top 10. Perez’s race also did not turn out to be very different.

Starting from 11th, he was struggling to make moves up the field. The 34-year-old complained that the Imola track is quite narrow and overtaking is quite a challenge.

There have been numerous instances in the past that prove Perez’s observation correct. In fact, in this race itself, Oscar Piastri struggled to get past Carlos Sainz for P4, for about 20 laps before passing him via an undercut strategy.

Regardless, Red Bull would want to forget this mixed bag of a weekend behind them to focus on the upcoming races.

“Meghan and I did musicals together as kids,” McPhee wrote on Instagram.

Well before her Suits or royal era, Markle, now 37, is shown with heavy makeup, red lipstick and thinner eyebrows, with a beaming smile.

It’s been a dramatic transformation for the pregnant Duchess, who sported a sophisticated look out in London today for an official engagement for the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Arriving at the University of London, Markle wore a black Givenchy coat and pleated dress, Meghan had her hair pulled back in a bun — and neutral-coloured lips that were a far cry from that red lippy.

Meantime, former Smash starMcPhee, 34, is now engaged to legendary composer David Foster, 69.

Earlier this week, McPhee shut down a troll who called out the couple’s 35-year age gap.

McPhee took to Twitter this week to share an update on her upcoming nuptials, according to Fox News.

“Picking your bridal party is like a real life MySpace top 8,” the 34-year-old joked on Twitter.

While most of the responses to the star’s tweet were positive, one user wrote back: “Except MySpace lasted longer than this marriage ever will @jessicaleighleigh.”

The Smash actor wasted no time responding to the commenter, writing: “I’m assuming it also lasted longer than any relationship you ever had with a hairdresser?”

This is hardly the first time McPhee has had to defend her relationship with the famous music producer.

In July, the star defended her relationship, telling fans they should be “worrying more about registering to vote and midterm elections than who’s marrying me”.

A couple of months later, the musical couple spoke out about their age gap and said that they don’t care what people have to say about their age difference.

“It doesn’t make sense to a lot of people, but it does to us,” McPhee told People at the time. “He has things to learn from me and I have a lot of things to learn from him, so I think we have a nice yin and yang.”

The couple met for the first time in 2006 when the music master served as a mentor for the then-contestant on American Idol. After gaining fame post-American Idol, Foster helped to produce McPhee’s first single.

Max Verstappen has never been a fan of the rigorous and long schedule F1 drivers must adhere to today. 24 races in the calendar are too much for the Dutchman, but what ticks him off more is the traveling. In a recent interview, Verstappen questions the sport’s motive behind planning such a calendar.

Verstappen pointed out how drivers have to travel between continents mid-season, with the races still spread worldwide, somewhat unevenly in terms of geography. For this, the 26-year-old has a solution.

“It would make a bit more sense, to start like we did in Asia, maybe have a few back-to-backs. And then Europe and from Europe you move on to the US or whatever.”

F1 has tried geographically clubbing the races, but even now, some of the Grands Prix that are actually close to one another, are scheduled with huge gaps and other outings in between. F1 already traveled to the US once this year (Miami), but there are two more races on the American calendar; Austin (October) and Las Vegas (November).

Between the races in Austin and Las Vegas, F1 travels to Mexico and Brazil, adding to the long traveling. Verstappen acknowledges that selling tickets for two back-to-backs in one country could see a dip in revenue for F1, but he asks them to pick a side.

“At the end of the day, what are you trying to sell? Is it tickets or the sustainability story?”

Currently, in the middle of a doubleheader, the sport will head to North America once more, for just one weekend in the supposed ‘European Leg’ of the 2024 season.

Max Verstappen and Co. to make North American pit-stop

Following the conclusion of the Emilia-Romagna GP in Imola last weekend, F1’s traveling circus heads to Monaco for the first European double-header of the season. For drivers, traveling within the continent is not a very big hassle because of the proximity of its different venues.

However, between the Monaco GP and the upcoming Spanish GP, drivers travel to Montreal (Canada) for the second North American race of the calendar.

Although drivers do get a week off in between these outings, it takes a toll physically. Additionally, the sustainability ‘story’ Verstappen highlighted also comes into light here because F1 could have scheduled the Canadian GP right after Miami earlier this month.

F1, as an organization is trying its best to increase sustainability and its efforts aren’t going unnoticed. But, the scheduling of races is something that still comes into question time and time again.

An unearthed video from 2017 which shows Lewis Hamilton congratulating a young Oliver Bearman is doing the rounds on social media. Back then, the Ferrari rookie was racing in karting and was only two years old. The video’s significance increases as Bearman has been in the spotlight for debuting in F1 at the 2024 Saudi Arabian GP just two months ago.

As seen on Instagram, Hamilton congratulated Bearman for winning the 2017 Kartmasters British Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver stated,

“Oliver, I just wanted to send you a message to say Congratulations on winning that championship. Don’t ever give up on your dreams, keep working hard. I believe in you”.

Hamilton was on his way to becoming a five-time champion in F1 back in 2017 while Bearman was just 12, learning the ropes in karting. The Briton competed in the Super 1 National Championship in the Cadet category, finishing 2nd in both 2016 and 2017.

Seven years later, the bond between the British duo is still intact, as seen at the Saudi Arabian GP in Jeddah earlier this year.

The 19-year-old got an urgent call-up to replace an ailing Carlos Sainz at Ferrari, and many expected him to struggle. Nonetheless, Bearman showed his talent by finishing P7 on what was his F1 debut, and Hamilton praised him in the immediate aftermath.

Lewis Hamilton and Oliver Bearman’s moment in Jeddah

Bearman finished ahead of Hamilton in Jeddah, with the latter getting P9 in what was a thoroughly underwhelming affair for him. Still, on seeing Bearman’s Ferrari taking the chequered flag in P7, Hamilton went over to shake his hand and congratulate him.

In his post-race interview, Hamilton commented on the F2 rookie (as quoted by Race Fans),

“To jump into a car in P3 and deliver the way he has is really, really impressive. Really happy for him to have the opportunity”.

Bearman too, reacted and expressed gratitude for the seven-time champion’s praise. He was quite happy about Hamilton hugging him and shaking his hand, citing it as a “great moment.

Several drivers including Hamilton have vouched for the 19-year-old to get his full-time debut in F1 in 2025. They certainly see the youngster’s potential and skills, and his Jeddah performance proved why he promptly deserves a place on the grid.

Lewis Hamilton ruled the Formula 1 grid during the turbo hybrid era. The seven-time world champion went on to grab 103 race wins and register several other records. But since 2021, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has taken over that mantle from the Briton. After winning his 59th career Grand Prix on Sunday at Imola, the Dutchman has overtaken Hamilton in one of the most prestigious F1 records.

Verstappen has now surpassed Hamilton’s win rate in the sport (30.38%). With 59 wins from 192 starts, the #1 driver boasts a 30.73% win rate, making him the fourth-highest overall in the history of F1. Only the likes of Juan Manuel Fangio, Alberto Ascari, and Jim Clark have a higher win percentage than the 26-year-old.

Out of the first seven races of the 2024 season, Max Verstappen has already won five. The Australian GP saw him retire with mechanical issues on lap three of the race. Verstappen then won the very next race at Suzuka before falling short at the Miami Grand Prix.

After the 2024 Miami GP, which saw Lando Norris bag his maiden F1 win, Verstappen’s tally stood at 58 Grand Prix wins out of 191 race starts. This put him just behind Hamilton with a 30.36% win percentage. However, his race-day heroics at Imola now see him jump arguably the greatest F1 driver ever.

Is Max Verstappen’s title defence threatened after 2024 Emilia Romagna GP?

Max Verstappen may have extended his gap in the Drivers’ Championship after winning the Grand Prix on Sunday. However, considering how the race panned out, many experts believe that Verstappen’s dominant run in the sport is on the verge of ending.

Starting from pole, Verstappen pulled a gap to McLaren’s Lando Norris in the early stages of the race. After the rounds of pit-stops, the gap was stable at around six seconds. However, with ten laps remaining, the Dutchman started struggling with degradation.

This gave Norris the impetus to embark on a late-race charge. With three laps to go, Norris had two massive moments coming out of the Tamburello chicane and the Villeneuve chicane respectively.

As a result, he had taken too much life out of his tires. However, that did not stop him from still trying his best. Norris then eventually missed out on the win by just 0.7 seconds. But back-to-back strong results from McLaren show that they are on the right trajectory to catch Red Bull this season.

McLaren’s Lando Norris arguably provided Max Verstappen with one of the biggest challenges the Dutchman has ever faced during the ground-effects era of the sport at the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP. Although Verstappen took the chequered flag as the race-winner, he finished just 0.7 seconds ahead of Norris. Despite this strong performance from McLaren, CEO Zak Brown reckons his team is still behind Red Bull and Ferrari in terms of pace.

Speaking after the race, Brown was quoted by Junaid Samodien on X (formerly Twitter) as saying, “I think Red Bull have a great advantage, and are the team to beat. First, we need to catch Ferrari and then hope Mercedes don’t catch us. I am sure we can win more races.”

McLaren slashed their gap to Red Bull this season massively at the Miami GP the last time around. Debuting their first upgrade package of the season, the revised MCL38 led Lando Norris to his first-ever Grand Prix win.

The race at Imola was going to be a litmus test for the team. Throughout the weekend, both Norris and his teammate, Oscar Piastri, looked at ease with the MCL38.

During the race, Verstappen did pull a gap to Norris initially. But the last 10 laps saw Norris eat away Verstappen’s advantage as the reigning world champion suffered from rear degradation.

The #4 driver’s performance rouses expectations that McLaren will be challenging Red Bull for the remainder of the season. With McLaren having had two consecutive strong races, it now begs the question of whether they are stronger than Ferrari at the moment or not.

Is McLaren stronger than Ferrari at the moment?

Zak Brown’s words seem to reflect an alternate reality that was not visible on track during Sunday’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The Ferraris of both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were in the mix for podium places. However, the MCL38s had the legs on the Prancing Horse in terms of out-and-out pace.

Leclerc rounded off the final podium slot, more than seven seconds behind Norris. On the other hand, Sainz finished behind the McLaren of Piastri in fifth, more than twenty seconds behind both Norris and Verstappen.

Naturally, after the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP, the pecking order at the front of the grid has changed. McLaren and Red Bull look evenly matched with little to separate between them. Ferrari, however, despite their upgrades seem to be a step or two behind the leading pack at the moment.
