  • Muhammad Ali’s eldest son claims heavyweight great would have ‘kicked Mike Tyson’s butt’

Muhammad Ali’s eldest son claims heavyweight great would have ‘kicked Mike Tyson’s butt’

MUHAMMAD ALI would have “kicked the butt” of Mike Tyson if they had met in their primes.

But the boxing legend would have probably struggled against kung-fu king Bruce Lee!

That is the opinion of Ali’s eldest son — one of his nine children — as the debate was sparked recently about which heavyweight figure was better.

In a virtual simulation run by the World Boxing Super Series, Tyson was victorious against the late, great Ali.

And current heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua reckons Tyson, now 53, would have won a hypothetical fantasy fight — a remark with which Iron Mike later disagreed.

But Muhammad Ali Junior believes his famous father, who died in June 2016 aged 74, would have prevailed.

Ali Jnr said: “My father would have kicked his butt. Everybody says Mike Tyson would have kicked my father’s butt. I said no.

“Tyson can’t go the distance. He couldn’t go fifteen rounds.

“He’s not a boxer. He’s a street fighter. He’s a knockout artist. He can never hold up to my father!”

Earlier this week, after beating Ali in a simulation run by the World Boxing Super Series, Tyson said: “I know it’s a fantasy game. Most likely I would win the fantasy.

“I wouldn’t win the real fight. Ali’s the greatest there’s ever been.”

Tyson may have accepted defeat but Ali Jr reckons his dad might have had trouble against a surprise opponent — martial artist Lee. He said: “That would have been a good fight.

“They were both young, they were both agile and both took it to the limit with their training. They both were the best at what they did.

“He’s like the Muhammad Ali of karate. I think it would have been a good fight between my father and Lee.”

Ali Jnr was born in 1972 in Philadelphia to Ali’s second wife Belinda.

The 47-year-old had an unusual upbringing until his parents divorced in 1977, claiming his mum used to “babysit Michael Jackson”.

He has contributed to a new book about his father called Muhammad Ali: The Life of a Legend, written by British journalist Fiaz Rafiq.

Asked what he thinks when he sees the three-time heavyweight world champion on TV, Ali Jr said: “It seems like a dream.

“But I just look at him as daddy. He’s my daddy. I love him and he’s my father.

“I don’t see him as the ‘Greatest of All Time’. I don’t see him as the great humanitarian. I see him as daddy.

“We had a brother-to-brother relationship. His personality is unlike anybody else’s. I’ve never met anybody who had a better personality.

“He said, ‘I care about people being human and not what colour they are’.

“He said, ‘Look at people and respect them as human beings’.

“Another thing he taught me, he said, ‘I don’t care if it’s a Jew, Christian or a Muslim in the same room, as long as they believe in God’.

“My father believed wholeheartedly in Islam. He was ready to die for it. He said, ‘I’m not going to denounce my religion. If I have to face gunfire, I will’.

“Let me put it this way: if my father was a bomb, he’d be like the Hiroshima bomb. That’s how much impact he had on a lot of people.”

The book involves anecdotes from the Ali family, including the time Saturday Night Fever star John Travolta was invited to Deer Lake training camp.

A clip from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding has recently resurfaced and shows the royals’ candid reactions at the ceremony.

The footage, posted to X (previously Twitter), showed senior attendees including Kate Middleton, Queen Camilla – then the Duchess of Cornwall – and the late Queen Elizabeth II. Seated in Windsor Castle’s St Georges Chapel for the May 2018 ceremony, some members of the Firm appeared to have strong reactions to some of the goings-on.

The montage was captioned: “All the best Royal Family reactions at the #Harkles wedding. Best part of the day,” followed by a laughing emoji and hashtags. Royal fans found the clip hilarious, with one writing: “I’m sorry but Zara takes the prize! Her look is priceless.”

Another agreed: “Honestly, if one of them had snort laughed the whole lot of them would have lost it.”

Meanwhile a third added: “You know I live for Zara, her reaction was the best. You can literally read what she is thinking. I love Mike Tindall because he’d be the one to get a pint with.”

Meanwhile another agreed: “Such a classic video, and the reactions are over the top subtle!”

Within two years of their historic wedding, Meghan and Harry stepped down from royal duties and relocated across the pond to the US. They then embarked on a number of media ventures with tech titans such as Netflix and Spotify, although the deal with the latter ended prematurely.

The couple received critical acclaim for their Netflix series Harry and Meghan, which aired in December 2022, while Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, hit the shelves in January 2023.

Meghan has recently unveiled her latest venture, a lifestyle brand named American Riviera Orchard (ARO), with strawberry jam being one of its anticipated products. However, details about other offerings and their release dates remain smystery.

Both the ARO website and Instagram pages are currently sparse on information, with the site merely offering visitors the chance to join a ‘waitlist’ by submitting their email address.

  • Gervonta Davis Say He’s a Better Boxer Than Mike Tyson

Gervonta Davis Say He’s a Better Boxer Than Mike Tyson

Gervonta Davis Adamant He’s a Better Boxer Than Mike Tyson and he hold that punching power like Mike Tyson when he was fighting.

In his prime, Mike Tyson was a different specimen. It is safe to say that his explosiveness was not seen before in the ring. The former two-time heavyweight champion built a reputation for having such tremendous knockout power, dropping opponents instantly. But it seems like Gervonta Davis thinks otherwise about the heavyweight. Not long ago, the lightweight made bold claims about being better than Mike Tyson.

Recently, in an interview, Davis opened up about making those claims. He further gave a reason for people who were criticizing him for claiming to be better than Mike Tyson.

Gervonta Davis stands firm on his words

Since making the remarks, he’s been experiencing backlash from fans. In an interview with FightHype, Gervonta Davis cleared the air around his claims of being better than Mike Tyson.

Davis said, “I think am more skilled than Mike Tyson. When I say I have more skills than Mike Tyson. There is no heavyweight ever to have more skills than smaller guys.” Davis believes that fighters from lower-weight classes are more skilled boxers than heavyweights. He added, “So, let’s take that out of the picture. Am, not dissing Mike Tyson.”

‘Tank’ further stated, “Facts are facts. I hold that punching power like Mike Tyson when he was fighting.” And, to end the conversation, he said, “And imma stand on my words.” It is worth mentioning that Gervonta Davis will face Ryan Garcia in one of the most anticipated lightweight bouts and Mike Tyson predicted the outcome of the bout in favor of Davis.

The similarity between Mike Tyson and Gervonta Davis

Despite the two being tens of pounds apart with respect to body weight, the two do have something in common. ‘Iron’ Mike was arguably the greatest knockout artist of his time and had the ability to knock out his opponents despite them being taller and stronger than the now 56-year-old. And Gervonta Davis shares similar traits with the heavyweight.

Gervonta Davis is a lightweight knockout artist. He has 28 wins, with 26 of them coming via knockouts. ‘Tank’ Davis’ knockout-to-win ratio is one of the all-time greatest. It must be said that both Tyson and Davis pack a punch, and are the top knockout artists in their respective divisions.

  • Mike Tyson lauds Evander Holyfield as best he has faced while George Foreman says hitting him like ‘waking a tiger’

Mike Tyson lauds Evander Holyfield as best he has faced while George Foreman says hitting him like ‘waking a tiger’

EVANDER HOLYFIELD was once lauded by Mike Tyson as the best he has faced as the pair gear up to make a sensational return to boxing.

Speculation is mounting the two legends are both set to come out of retirement for an intriguing trilogy fight in aid of charity.

Each veteran has shared clips of them looking in superb condition while training for a potential comeback, with both open to taking on the other in an exhibition match.

They last met infamously in 1997 when Tyson, now 53, was disqualified for biting a chunk of Holyfield’s ear off.

Since then the duo have become close with the Baddest Man on the Planet lauding praise on his former ring rival.

In a recent interview with Holyfield on his podcast ‘Hotboxin‘, Tyson said: “He’s a good guy, I always knew he was a good guy. I want people to react and get in their heads, but he never reacted.

“He was an awesome counter-puncher. I’d say the best ever.

“I always wondered how he could be so good and so humble.”

And in an interview with Ring Magazine, Tyson described Holyfield as both the best puncher and as well as his best ever opponent.

He said: “Great champion: chin, heart, determination, work ethic, demeanor.

“He threw terrific shots with both hands and with bad intentions.”

Despite Tyson’s compliments, Holyfield snubbed Iron Mike after picking George Foreman as the hardest hitter he faced.

And it seemed the Real Deal made a similar impression on Big George following his unanimous decision win back in 1991.

Foreman tweeted in 2017: “No one ever had as much heart, you hurt him you get 15 shots, like waking a Tiger.”

Holyfield is the only four-time heavyweight champion in boxing history, and remains the only person to win the undisputed championship in two weight classes.

He has since sparked mass excitement by revealing he is in talks for a sensational comeback scrap against Tyson – 23 years after their last bout.

Whether the two meet for a third time remains to be seen, but Shannon Briggs appears to have secured a fight with the former two-time heavyweight champ.

  • Tyson Fury told he would’ve beaten Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield but not Lennox Lewis

Tyson Fury told he would’ve beaten Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield but not Lennox Lewis

Tyson Fury claims Lennox Lewis was the best fighter of that era, it wasn’t Mike Tyson or Holyfield.

Tyson Fury would have beaten both Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield but struggled against Lennox Lewis, says a promoter who worked with all three of them.

Tyson Fury would have beaten both Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield but struggled against Lennox Lewis, according to the promoter who has worked with all three of them.

Main Events’ Kathy Duva represented the legendary trio at various points during their careers.

And she helped Lewis get the fight he had always wanted by defeating Tyson back in 2002.

The 69-year-old also brought Fury, widely regarded as the greatest fighter of his generation, to the US in 2013 as the Gypsy King beat Steve Cunningham on his American debut at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

But while Duva reckons that Fury would have physically been too much for Tyson and Holyfield, she doesn’t think it would have been so easy for him against Lewis.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Duva explained: “I think Mike Tyson and Evander [Holyfield] would have had a lot of trouble with his size and he’s a good boxer and would out-weigh them by 50-60 lbs, that’s tough to beat. I think Tyson [Fury] has a huge advantage just through his size.

“As for Lennox [Lewis] that’s a different story, because he’s just as big and he was a tremendous boxer and I think he would’ve out-boxed Tyson [Fury].

Boxing Hall of Fame promoter Kathy Duva backed Tyson Fury to beat both Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield

“I don’t think he would’ve walked in front of him like Wilder did, he’s a far better boxer than Wilder and he came so close. Wilder couldn’t cope with Tyson’s boxing ability, he really has that boxing ability, he’s very good.

“I think that Lennox, he could box and I know Tyson has that punch and Lennox has been down a few times, but so has Tyson, Steve Cunningham knocked him down.

“I think Lennox vs Tyson is the one fight I would love to see, because I honestly can’t tell you who would’ve won that fight.

Duva continued: “Lennox was the greatest heavyweight of his era and it was a great era. He beat Mike Tyson, he beat Holyfield, he didn’t get a second shot at Riddick Bowe in the pro’s because Bowe refused to fight him, but he did beat him in the amateurs.

“They were the four kings of their era and he beat them all, so when people talk about Mike Tyson, they don’t want to hear it, but Lennox Lewis was the best fighter of that era, it wasn’t Mike Tyson.

“I’ve always believed that because of his style, which may not have been the most exciting, and because he was able to discipline himself and fight smarter and his ring intelligence and all those things.

“Just like Dmitry Bivol defeated Canelo by doing all those things, discipline and a great game plan.

“I think Lennox would’ve been a really tough puzzle for anyone to solve and certainly no one of his era could do it. I think in the end if you had to say who was the best, certainly of his era and even this one, I would say Lennox is it, easily.”

  • Chris Byrd claims he “wouldn’t be scared” of fighting a prime Mike Tyson

Chris Byrd claims he “wouldn’t be scared” of fighting a prime Mike Tyson

Former two-time world heavyweight champ Chris Byrd surprisingly admitted that he “wouldn’t be scared” of fighting a prime Mike Tyson compared to Deontay Wilder.

Wilder, 34, has built an incredible reputation as one of the most formidable punchers in history thanks to his astonishing boxing record.

The ‘Bronze Bomber,’ who lost his first professional fight to Tyson Fury in February, boasts 41 knockout victories in 44 professional fights.

‘Iron’ Mike, 54, is widely revered for his ferocious boxing style and destructive punching power during the 1980s.

Byrd, who defeated boxing legends like Evander Holyfield and Vitali Klitschko, fought for two decades and holds an impressive record of 41 victories in 47 fights.

However, the 50-year-old former boxer explained why Wilder would be a tougher test compared to boxing legend Tyson inside the squared circle.

Byrd told Fight Hub TV: “That one-punch factor. Man, I’m telling you that kid [Wilder] carries power from 1 to 12.

“I mean, he can punch… it’s freakish. It’s scary. And I meant it: I would rather fight [Mike Tyson in his prime than Deontay Wilder].

“Boxing is about a style match-up. With Mike, he’s coming at me. I’m gonna keep him… I’m gonna keep touching, moving, slipping, getting away.

“With him [Wilder], what am I doing? Am I putting pressure on him? I’m not that big. I’m going to get knocked out trying to come to him. If I try [to] stay back, how am I boxing? He’s 6’7 — boom, it’s coming down again. That’s a hard match-up.

“People look at what Mike do and rush you and doing that. I look at styles. Styles of a fighter that fight. I’m not scared… or I wouldn’t be scared of Mike. I’m not gonna quit when he hit me: I’m going to fight you back.

“That man right there, Deontay Wilder, pfft. How is it that they’re getting so tall now? But now he got massive power behind… ugh!”

Wilder has previously made a bold claim that he could have beaten Tyson had they fought in a dream super-fight.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary with a dinner alongside Hollywood power couple Brian and Tracy Robins at their favourite steakhouse in Montecito.

This outing with the prominent pair marks another notable moment in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s evolving social and professional circles.

The anniversary celebration was a low-key affair at the Montecito steakhouse, where Harry and Meghan are frequently seen.

Brian Robins, a Paramount executive, and his wife Tracy, who received one of the jam jars from Meghan’s new brand, joined them for the evening.

The couples previously attended the Bob Marley premiere together.

But royal expert Kinsey Schofield pointed out how the couple has had issues keeping friends, as she claimed they “burn through”.

Speaking on an episode of Heirs and Spares, she said: “I like to see that they are maintaining that relationship because they burn through friends. Like I’ve seen some people burn through a pack of cigarettes.”

Royal commentator Rupert Bell replied: “Yes, and I think it is interesting. They can see clearly that there’s mileage to be seen with this particular power couple.”

As the couple navigates their post-royal life, Meghan is reportedly planning a significant career move.

Sources indicate she is set to embark on a “Summer of Love” PR campaign aimed at softening her public image.

This initiative could include appearances on popular US talk shows such as Drew Barrymore and Kelly Clarkson and potentially late-night programs with comedians who have been sympathetic to Prince Harry.

Meghan’s goal is said to be to win over the American audience by presenting a more relatable and approachable side.

This PR blitz comes as the couple continues to balance their royal connections with their new commercial endeavours.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially left the Royal Family as working members in 2020, after stating they wanted a more independent and private life.

Former trainer Jeff Fenech claimed, Mike Tyson will K.I.L.L Sonny Bill Williams and send rugby star to the morgue if pair seal $1m fight

MIKE TYSON will be up for “manslaughter” if he fights Sonny Bill Williams, claimed former trainer Jeff Fenech.

The 53-year-old has been offered $1million to come out of retirement to face the All Blacks legend, Paul Gallen or Barry Hall.

But Fenech has urged them not to step into the ring with the heavyweight legend unless they want to end up in a morgue.

He told Sydney Morning Herald: “Let me tell you something. If he hits Sonny Bill Williams or Paul Gallen, he will be up for manslaughter.

“I’m serious. If he punched Paul Gallen, he could kill him.

“These guys have never been punched by somebody like Mike.

“You see what he’s doing to the pads, imagine Mike hitting one of those guys with one of those uppercuts.

“More than likely they will be in the morgue the next day.

“Fighting Sonny Bill? Who has Sonny Bill fought? Sonny Bill won’t even fight Paul Gallen because I don’t believe he can beat him.”

Fenech also claimed Tyson is worth a lot more than the $1million offered by Australian boxing promoter Brian Amatruda.

He said: “Great publicity, but it’s not going to happen, they’re offering him half a million or a million dollars.

  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set for major Palace invite despite royal feud

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set for major Palace invite despite royal feud

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to receive a major olive branch, but concerns over their security may prove a sticking point.

    meghan and harry

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could still be set to receive a major Palace invite this summer – despite the ongoing royal feud.

Traditionally each August, the Royal Family enjoy getting together at Balmoral as they take a break away from royal commitments and duties.

The late Queen Elizabeth II is known to have enjoyed this cherished time with her loved ones, something that is enjoyed equally now by King Charles III.

Speaking to the Mirror, royal expert Ingrid Seward said that she believes there is “no doubt” that this invite will also be extended to Harry, Meghan and their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, who will celebrate her third birthday next month.

She told the publication: “Harry and Meghan’s security fears could well be a stumbling block to any kind of reunion with the royal family. But no doubt they have been invited to Balmoral this summer.

“As the late Queen discovered, Scotland offers the only quality time a Monarch has to devote to family.

“It would be very sad if Charles was denied the pleasure of seeing his grandchildren just because of Harry’s unfounded security woes.”

Speaking of the King’s relationship with his youngest son, Ms Seward said that the monarch is “wary” of Harry but but he won’t completely cut ties.

Discussing Harry’s recent visit to the UK, Ms Seward added: “When Prince Harry turned down his father’s offer to stay at a royal residence during his three-day trip to London in May, it was a surprise to the royal household The King was aware Harry had no UK base.

“He could not fail to be aware Harry was unduly anxious about security. But he was not aware that Harry would issue a statement saying his father was too busy to meet him. It was hurtful and even if true if they had been under the same roof a meeting might have been arranged.”

  • GEORGE FOREMAN has backed Mike Tyson to become a top heavyweight contender when he makes his return to the ring.

GEORGE FOREMAN has backed Mike Tyson to become a top heavyweight contender when he makes his return to the ring.

The 71-year-old had begged Iron Mike to call off his comeback – but has now changed his mind after seeing him sparring.

Tyson is back in the gym as he plans to compete in a four-round exhibition bout to raise money for charity.

Foreman pleaded with the 53-year-old to keep his gloves off as he has already done so much for the sport.

But when asked if he had seen the clip of Tyson sparring, Foreman revealed he has had a change of heart.

He told iFL TV: “I was so happy. He looked like he had turned the clock back at least 20 years.

“He was looking fit and those punches were coming sharp.

“If he’s able to go into the woods and dedicate himself to that for about 10 months, he could come back and really be a top contender.”

Foreman became the oldest world heavyweight champion when he beat Michael Moorer, aged 45.

But the 71-year-old claimed Tyson has the ability to break his record and predicted he will not draw the line at exhibition bouts.

He added: “That’s what they do, that’s the way it happens.

“I called Dick Sadler, my original trainer back in the 1960s, I’d just won a gold medal, I said I just want to do exhibitions, that’s all, and learn more about boxing.

“Next thing you know, I’m in with the heavyweight champion of the world.

“So it starts off talking about exhibitions, but then it gets bigger and bigger.

“And Tyson, I would like to see him back in the ring.

“He’s an older fella, but a record is always waiting to be broke.”

But Ricky Hatton has called for Tyson to cancel comeback plans as he fears the 53-year-old could pick up a “serious injury”.
