Real reason Prince Harry ‘turned down a meeting with King Charles’ during whistle-stop London visit revealed

Harry was in London earlier this month but did not see the King

THE “REAL reason” Prince Harry allegedly turned down an invite from King Charles to stay at a royal residence can be revealed.

The 39-year-old spent three nights in London on a whistle-stop tour to promote the Invictus Games this month but didn’t see the King.

Harry was said to have made several requests for a meeting and blamed the King’s “full programme” when it didn’t happen.

But Charles did agree to put Harry up at a secret royal residence knowing he does not have a UK base, according to The Telegraph.

And Harry said no because it would leave him staying in a “visible location with public entrance and exit points and no police protection”, it has been claimed.

Harry ended up staying in a hotel, which he could leave unnoticed.

This is despite any royal residence having armed guards at entry and exit points, which any London hotel wouldn’t have.

It’s not been reported where exactly Prince Harry was offered a room, but it is thought St James’ Palace is a strong contender.

It’s directly opposite Clarence house where the King stays when he’s in London.

Prince Harry claimed the King was “too busy” to meet.

A spokesman said: “It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Since then it’s been revealed the King did have a packed programme that week, but had made changes that would let him see his son.

The Duke arrived in London on May 7 for a three-day promotional tour of the Invictus Games, which is celebrating its ten year anniversary.

On May 8 Harry spoke at an event in St Paul’s Cathedral where he gave a Bible reading from Corinthians that stressed different people have different gifts and strengths.

As Harry’s event got underway, The King met members of the public at a Buckingham Palace garden party just over two miles away.

The prince was also the surprise guest at a party hosted by Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that supports the bereaved kids of military personnel.

Harry has been in legal battles with the Home Office over security during visits to the UK.

The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon

    Archewell Spokesman
The prince has only been allowed police protection when taking part in royal events, according to the Telegraph.

Such instances include the late Queen’s funeral or when he was taken to meet the King from Heathrow in February following Charles’ shock cancer diagnosis.

When travelling to and from his hotel in February, the prince only had his own, private bodyguards, the Telegraph alleges.

He now has to give the Metropolitan Police 28 days’ notice if he wants to come to the UK with security provisions.

Each request is dealt with on an individual basis by Ravec, the committee overseeing the protection of royalty and public figures.

Harry’s whistle-stop February visit took just 26 hours while he spent just 20 hours in London for the King’s Coronation last May.

The Duke spent between 30 and 40 minutes with Charles at Clarence House before the Monarch departed for Sandringham via helicopter.

Harry and Meghan have been without a UK home since the The Sun revealed they were evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year.

    Archewell was approached for comment.

Harry & the King can’t play happy families with such huge public attention, says The Sun’s Matt Wilkinson

    By Matt Wilkinson, Royal Editor

Prince Harry is in London but he won’t meet his father The King.

The Duke of Sussex arrived from LA alone without Meghan or their children for a busy diary of events marking 10 years of his Invictus Games.

Before setting off from California it is understood Harry was said to have been “keen’ to see the King for only the second time since his cancer diagnosis.

It is rather telling that confirmation there will be no meeting has come from the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex rather than Buckingham Palace.

His team say “it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program”.

They add: “The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Now, the word that jumps out is “priorities”.

The King, we understand, is busy as he returns to public duty.

For instance, on Tuesday while Harry was in London the King was carrying out his constitutional duty and meeting the Prime Minister of Fiji at the palace.

He is also set to host a palace garden party and weekly audience with the Prime Minister on Wednesday.

And Harry’s diary is packed full for three days with Invictus. However, they will be at times just two miles apart and risk even driving past each other on London’s roads.

Some observers may see this as “sad” that father and son cannot find time.

Others may say that it’s understandable as both have work commitments and “priorities”.

But maybe there has just been too much water under the bridge for father and son to play happy families amid such huge public attention

A timeline of Prince Harry and William’s ‘feud’: Brothers ‘at war’

In 2018, The Sun told how “simmering tension” began when William questioned the speed of Harry and Meghan’s engagement.

The first hints of friction reportedly came after William was introduced to Meghan when she was staying at Kensington Palace.

Once she’d returned home to Canada, William and Harry sat down for a brother-to-brother chat.

He knew Harry was already head-over-heels for her but it has been claimed he advised him to take it slowly.

The younger prince reportedly didn’t take too kindly to the advice, with one royal source saying he “went mental”.

Then in June 2019 Harry and Meghan officially split off from the charity they shared with William and Kate.

The Royal Foundation will be divided between the Sussexes and Cambridges as the couples focus on their own separate charitable endeavours.

Prince William and Prince Harry first established the Royal Foundation in 2009 before Kate joined two years later shortly after their engagement was announced.

The trio would often appear together at events and the Foundation had huge successes with projects like the Invictus Games for injured veterans and the mental health Heads Together campaign.

The Royal Foundation said the decision was made following the conclusion of a review into its structure – but added both couples will continue to work together in the future.

Harry and Meg were living in close proximity to Kate and Wills within the Kensington Palace estate, but they switched to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before baby Archie was born.

The move further increased rumours of a fallout.

Harry, 39, also hinted in his ITV documentary “Harry and Meghan, An African Journey” that he and his brother had grown apart.

It came after Prince Philip called Meghan the “D.O.W” after the Duchess of Windsor — the American divorcee who led Edward VIII to abdicate.

And he warned the late Queen to be “cautious” of Harry’s then bride-to-be, a royal author claims.

Ingrid Seward revealed in new book My Mother And I that Prince Philip felt it was “uncanny…how much Meghan reminded him of the Duchess of Windsor”.

In 2021, Harry and Meghan give their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where Harry accused his dad of cutting him off financially.

Harry then jetted back to UK to join William in unveiling a statue to their mother Princess Diana in the grounds of Kensington Palace. But sources claimed William didn’t want to attend the memorial amid their ongoing rift.

In 2022, just before their grandmother the Queen died, sources claimed Kate acts as a “peacemaker” between the brothers.

Last year Harry claimed his brother “knocked him to the floor” during an argument about Meghan.

In his book Spare, Harry said William branded Meghan “rude” and “difficult” during a row.

Harry alleged William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”.

He said he was left with a visible injury to his back following the argument in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he was living at the time.

In January this year, Harry flew in to be with Charles after the monarch’s shock cancer diagnosis.

Harry flew back to the US the following day – without seeing Wills.

  • Lewis Hamilton’s Concise Request to Lando Norris After Miami Victory

Lewis Hamilton’s Concise Request to Lando Norris After Miami Victory

According to Lewis Hamilton, he urged Lando Norris “he needs to stay tonight” so they could celebrate his first Grand Prix win in Miami’s streets.

Norris’s event began to fall apart after a strong start to the Miami Grand Prix weekend in sprint qualifying, but he recovered to lead the main race on Sunday using the alternate strategy.

Norris gained the race lead when Logan Sargeant and Kevin Magnussen wrecked and brought out the safety car, and he proceeded to dominate the pack.

With Verstappen trailing him, the 24-year-old extended his lead to more than seven seconds.

Norris crossed the finish line first, capturing McLaren’s first Grand Prix victory since the 2021 Italian Grand Prix, and the reigning world champion showed no reaction to his pace.

After the race, Hamilton told Sky Sports F1: “Honestly, I’m really happy for Lando. I just told him he needs to stay tonight.”

Then Hamilton was questioned if he had advised his fellow British national to reschedule his return journey. “He’s going to try to change his flight,” he said. He must! He just triumphed in a race.

“Winning your first Grand Prix is such a special moment, and since I started at McLaren, I’m thrilled to see them back at the top.” It has been a while.”

Not just Hamilton but several drivers also rejoiced over Norris’ victory. The only other driver to defeat Verstappen this season, Carlos Sainz, a close friend and former teammate, also had some kind things to say.

He’s been deserving of the victory for so long,” he said to Sky Sports F1. “He’s a driver that will win many races in F1.”He’s been driving very well lately. He was fortunate today, but good things occur to those who deserve them, and he most certainly does.”

  • Max Verstappen reveals the reason why he lost to Lando Norris at the Miami GP

Max Verstappen reveals the reason why he lost to Lando Norris at the Miami GP

Max Verstappen has heaped praise on Lando Norris for a “deserved” breakthrough Formula 1 victory, with the Red Bull driver accepting defeat to his McLaren rival at the end of a dramatic Miami Grand Prix.

Verstappen controlled the early stages of Sunday’s encounter but lost the lead to Norris under a mid-race Safety Car, with the Dutchman pitting just before it was deployed and the Briton changing tyres under it.

Norris came under some pressure from Verstappen when the race restarted but managed to hold onto P1 and delivered an assured performance over the remaining laps to take the chequered flag.

Asked for his reaction to the result, which also marked McLaren’s first win since the 2021 Italian Grand Prix, Verstappen said: “You win, you lose. We’re all used to that in racing, right?

“Today was a bit tricky. I think already on the medium [tyres] it didn’t feel fantastic, we were pulling away but not like it should be. Then once we made a pit stop I heard what the lap times McLaren were doing and I was like, ‘Well, that’s pretty quick!’.

“Once then they also switched onto the hard tyre, they just had more pace, especially Lando he was flying. It was incredibly difficult for us on that stint but if a bad day is P2 I take it.”

He added: “I’m very happy for Lando, it’s been a long time coming and it’s not going to be his last one, so he definitely deserves it today.”

Verstappen was unable to make an impression on Norris after the Safety Car restart

Asked if McLaren are showing their ‘true pace’ after a raft of updates to their cars at the Miami International Autodrome, Verstappen said: “I hope not! They came with an upgrade, for sure it looks like it works so we have a bit of work to do from our side.

“I think definitely it wasn’t our strongest weekend in terms of race pace, but we’ll analyse it all and we’ll try to come back stronger.”

Despite missing out on victory, Verstappen has extended his advantage at the top of the drivers’ standings to 35 points, with nearest championship rival and team mate Sergio Perez coming home back in fifth position.

  • Lando Norris is an F1 Grand Prix winner at last… but here’s how Donald Trump stole the show, strolling into the garage, in a selfie with an OnlyFans star and leaving McLaren staff dancing – hours before he’s back in a courtroom

Lando Norris is an F1 Grand Prix winner at last… but here’s how Donald Trump stole the show, strolling into the garage, in a selfie with an OnlyFans star and leaving McLaren staff dancing – hours before he’s back in a courtroom

Donald Trump, carrying his famous red cap, would be last man to believe he couldn’t make the Formula One Championship Great Again.

It was his first known visit to the world’s premier series and he was a guest of McLaren. He went in there and pumped his clenched fists and wished them luck before the 57 laps began. And tried to rub off a bit of his self-belief on his hosts.

The papaya man visiting the papaya team.

And, as if by magic, Lando Norris won his first race on a sunlit day in Miami. A little bit of luck came into it, for sure, in the shape of a safety car. But for Norris, 24-year-old racer from Glastonbury, Somerset, a whole heap of relief lifted from his slender shoulders, becoming the 21st British winner.

He carried with him the unwanted tag of 14 podiums without a victory, more than anyone else in history, and one sensed it weighed him down. He is more introspective than his bubbly, made-for-Netflix public demeanour suggests.

Rajek made her way through the paddock (left) before managing to get a glimpse of Trump (right picture, left) ahead of the Miami Grand Prix

The McLaren driver kept his composure to best favorite Max Verstappen (left)

His big chance came on lap 28, almost the exact half-point of the race.

This was brought about by Haas’ Kevin Magnussen punting Williams’ Logan Sargeant into the wall. Sargeant, from up the road in Fort Lauderdale, was unlucky. Anyway, the cessation in racing allowed Norris a free stop. It gifted him the chance to hold on to hitherto deceptive ‘lead’, for he hadn’t yet stopped and everyone else had.

Nice one. But who was in the car directly behind him? No less than his best mate on the grid, Max Verstappen, the world champion, the machine who can’t be beaten (not unless his engine blows).

Privately, Norris rates Verstappen the best driver the sport has known. He believes he has every attribute to succeed at the top, so to have the Dutchman in a sizzling Red Bull in his rear-view mirror when the safety car pulled in was hardly akin to a quiet Sunday drive.

It must have put the wind right up him. Now all he had hoped for before and after his debut in Melbourne in 2021 – a spotty teenager who pulled at his finger joints nervously as he spoke – ran through his mind.

Could he keep his calm? The early evidence was ‘yes’. He was shod on younger rubber, obviously, but the same hard compounds. He immediately set a fastest lap and continued to edge ahead, while Verstappen was struggling. He made his complaints known over the radio. Thirteen laps to go and he had opened up a four second lead.

Norris is sprayed with champagne by Verstappen and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (right)

With his victory in sunlit Miami, the 24-year-old became the 21st British F1 winner

It was perhaps written in the stars. Verstappen, usually as dominant as imaginable, had managed to run into a bollard early on.

The triple world champion veered off track at Turn 15 a third of the way and collected the red-and-white cone. But at this point you would be thinking that nothing – plastic, human or extra-terrestrial – could stop the Dutchman as he dominates all he comes up against routinely.

That Norris won was testament to his talents, and built on his impressive performance, perhaps his most rounded in China a fortnight ago, when he was runner-up.

All this Norris joy had seemed a distant fantasy in the early stages. Verstappen had sat on the lead, no problems at all, keeping McLaren’s Oscar Piastri at a distance behind him of three seconds in the searing Floridian heat. But Verstappen was not romping away, actually, a sign of what was to come.

I don’t know that you’d call this race swanky. It’s too brash for that. Which was a perfect place for the politician who may be elected the next leader of the free world while inside a prison cell.

On Monday the great new Norris fan will be in a New York courtroom fighting charges that he falsified documents to cover up hush money he gave to a former adult-film actress and a Playboy model. Yet Sunday he was the main attraction even amid the A-listers who came (and those who stayed away perhaps because of him).

Donald Trump arrived at the Miami Grand Prix and was flanked by heavy security

Trump gestured to his supporters in the crowd as he prepared to watch the racing begin

Trump speaks with McLaren CEO Zak Brown as he visits the McLaren garage before the race

In a surreal scene some two hours before lights out, his security men called for a channel to be made taking him from the central paddock building to the McLaren garage. Someone shouted: ‘Hope you win, Donald!’ He turned and said: ‘I have to.’

He went into the garage for 10 minutes or so. He spoke to the sport’s top brass, including Formula One chief executive Stefano Domenicali and FIA president Mohammed ben Sulayem. He was in the McLaren stable at the request of the team’s majority owners, the Bahrain sovereign wealth fund led by the Crown Prince of the kingdom, Salman.

The conversation over, Trump then went through the same routine through the throng. An OnlyFans model, whose skimpy attire left little to the imagination, took a selfie with the Republican candidate presumptive. He jutted his jaw and off he stalked followed by his security detail.

He had not entirely got his own way this week. A billionaire friend, Steven Witkoff, had tried to organise a fundraiser at the track. The idea was to charge attendees $250,000 to attend the function on a Paddock Club rooftop suite.

    The organisers stamped that out.

But Trump watched from the same spot as Norris took the win, a massive 7.6 seconds from Verstappen, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc third. Norris put both hands in the air in celebration after crossing the line.

Colleagues at McLaren, who felt they had to underline they are non-political in a statement after the Trump visit, were overwhelmed. They danced in the pit lane.

With his race, Norris claimed McLaren’s first victory in nearly three years

Verstappen, usually as dominant as imaginable, had managed to run into a bollard early on

Lewis Hamilton, a McLaren world champion back in the day, gave Norris a thumbs up from the cockpit.

Norris hollered a noise beyond description. ‘We did it, Will,’ he said to his engineer Will Joseph. Zak Brown, the McLaren chief executive who had entertained Trump in the garage, hugged everyone he could find.

‘I guess that’s how it’s done,’ chimed a clearly emotional Norris, dedicating the triumph to his grandmother. ‘I knew when I came in today it was a day of opportunities.’

  • Max Verstappen Needs to Get Down on One Knee as Kelly Piquet Drops Major Hint on Instagram

    Credits: IMAGO PanoramiC

Max Verstappen and Brazilian model Kelly Piquet have been in a relationship for three years now. They live together in Monaco, and Piquet’s daughter Penelope, too lives with the Dutchman. Now, however, things could turn up a notch as Piquet’s recent Instagram post suggests that she is ready to take their relationship to the next level by marrying Verstappen.

This seems to be the case despite there having been several rumors about them breaking up over the last few months. Even though these rumors have surfaced only recently, it is pertinent to note that Piquet continues to cheer Verstappen on.

The rumors about them breaking up started coming out because of Piquet’s failure to attend quite a few races this season. However, the reason behind her not doing so is solely the commitments she made to attend fashion shows around the world. And it is not just Piquet that seems interested in marrying Verstappen, but also the Red Bull driver’s mother, Sophie Kumpen.

Kelly Piquet seems keen on marrying Max Verstappen

Kelly Piquet took to her Instagram handle and put up a story on July 6 that showed a woman walking in a bridal gown. She interestingly captioned this post as, “My favorite part of Couture is always the bride“.

Since Piquet commented on the bridal wear, it seems likely that she is keen on marrying Max Verstappen. And if Sophie Kumpen’s interview from a year ago is anything to go by, then it seems that she too approves of the idea.

In the video, Kumpen stated, “Kelly, of course, is a bit older (than Max). She has a little child. They have created some form of a little family. I think that Max maybe missed that when he was young. Such stability has also helped him as he knows someone is waiting for him at home“.

Perhaps, Sophie Kumpen made these comments keeping her son Verstappen’s difficult childhood in mind. Since the Dutchman had to go through his parents separating when he was very young, he must be enjoying “stability” that Kumpen discussed about in her interview.

Piquet wants to have more children with Verstappen

Kelly Piquet, who currently has one child, Penelope, from her previous relationship with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat, once revealed in an interview that she wants her daughter to have a sibling. The 34-year-old told Vogue (as quoted by express.co.uk) in an interview in December last year, “Personally, I would like to have more children“.

And it seems that her boyfriend, Max Verstappen, also wants children of his own. In an interview with Limburger (as quoted by express.co.uk), the Dutchman said that he definitely wants children. However, the 25-year-old did make it clear that he does not think that he will become a parent anytime soon, because of his F1 career.

Meghan Markle ‘feels sorry’ for Kate Middleton over forced baby photos

As the Sussexes prepare for an imminent addition to their family, it has been reported that the Duchess “feels sorry” for sister-in-law Kate. This is why.

Baby Sussex — the soon-to-be-born child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — will be seventh in line for the throne. But don’t expect this child to be anything less than a prince or princess.

Although Queen Elizabeth’s daughter, Princess Anne, opted for her children (and, therefore, grandchildren) not to bear such royal honorifics, sources told The Post that Meghan likely won’t give up the lofty title.

“All royal ranks are at the Queen’s discretion and Princess Anne set an interesting precedent by choosing to raise her children without any royal titles at all,” said Patrick Jephson, the former chief aide to Harry’s mother, Princess Diana. “[But] my guess is that Harry and Meghan’s child will already be a prince or princess by the time we see the first photo.”

According to friends of Meghan’s, who agree the baby will almost certainly be bestowed a title, the California-born actor and her husband have opted not to find out if they are having a boy or a girl.

The New York Postreported that the tot will also have dual nationality, as the first British royal to meet the criteria for US citizenship.

Meghan is reportedly planning a home birth and without the Queen’s household doctors, Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beeston, widely considered to be among the best in the business. The duchess will, however, have a helicopter on standby at the Sussexes’ new Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage, should she need to rush to a local hospital.

Since her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018, the former Suits star has rewritten the royal rule book: from walking herself partway down the matrimonial aisle to not planning to pose for public photos shortly after giving birth — and even waiting to announce the baby’s arrival.

In fact, one friend of Meghan’s told The Post that the duchess, a committed feminist, actually “felt sorry” for her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, having to face the world’s media — while wearing a dress, heels and impeccable hair and makeup — mere hours after giving birth.

Instead, Meghan and Harry released a statement, reading in part: “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

It’s expected they will pose for a photo call at Windsor Castle on their own schedule.

“They’re basically conducting the birth in virtual secrecy. I think it’s a bit foolish,” said Duncan Larcombe, former royal editor at The Sun. “Harry absolutely hates being the subject of speculation, and this just shows his petulance to the media . . . it’s just a shame.”

Friends said that Meghan wants to emulate the warm mothering she received from her yoga-teacher mom, Doria Ragland, who has already left her Los Angeles home to be on hand for the birth.

A friend of the family told The Post: “Meghan and Doria are like two peas in a pod. Both perfectionists, both can be controlling, but they know their own minds for sure! They just like things the way they like them. Everyone in the family says that when they’re together, Harry — who is extremely fond of Doria — will have to take a back seat. He won’t be able to get a word in edgewise.”

Meanwhile, a friend of Meghan’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, said the former Married With Children lighting director, who has been in ill health recently, is “devastated” at the prospect of never meeting his grandchild.

The father and daughter infamously fell out just days before the wedding when it was revealed Markle had been staging and selling paparazzi photos.

The friend said Thomas, who lives in the beach town of Rosarito, Mexico, “has spent the past year going over everything again and again in his head. He feels that the punishment does not fit the crime. He cannot understand why Meghan won’t talk to him. All he wants, all he dreams of, is meeting his grandchild. He is totally and utterly devastated.

“While Doria is there, he won’t even know when the baby arrives until the rest of the world is told.”

The two were extremely close when Meghan was little, and, according to the Thomas friend, he claims he paid for his daughter’s education at Northwestern University, as well as covering her car and rent when she returned to LA after school. Things began to go downhill, the friend said, when Meghan later moved to Toronto to film Suits. Thomas does not like to travel and, unlike Doria, he didn’t visit his daughter.

The Thomas friend said that Meghan’s “can-do” and sometimes “controlling” attitude was instilled in her not just by Doria, but also by her father, who wanted her to feel proud of her bi-racial heritage.

“He wanted her to feel she could achieve anything. You have to remember, at the time that Thomas and Doria were together, interracial relationships weren’t so common and they faced hardships,” added the Thomas friend. “Now he really thinks that Meghan is ashamed of him.”

Baby Sussex will make history as the first royal of African-American heritage, something Meghan and Harry are hugely proud of.

In 2015, Meghan wrote how, “when asked to choose my ethnicity in a questionnaire as in my seventh grade class, or these days to check ‘Other,’ I simply say: ‘Sorry, world, this is not [the TV show] ‘Lost’ and I am not one of The Others. I am enough exactly as I am.’ ”

Doria will have her own special bedroom at Frogmore Cottage, which received a six-month, $4 million renovation, believed to have been spearheaded by Soho House interior designer Vicky Charles, a favourite of Harry and Meghan’s friends George and Amal Clooney.

Complete with green-energy utilities, a springy “floating floor” (perfect for Doria and Meghan’s yoga) and non-toxic paint, the cottage is said to marry English and California style.

Meghan plans to return to work commitments, including patronage charities Mayhew (animal welfare) and the National Theatre, after just three months — a not-unusual amount of time for Americans but considered rather short in England. (Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, took six months of maternity leave after each of her children was born.)

Former Royal Editor Larcombe points out that this timing will ensure that Meghan misses a planned early June state dinner for Donald Trump.

“I’m told that there are no plans for Meghan to meet President Trump,” said Larcombe. “Not as a snub [but] — how shall we say — it’s a quite convenient period of maternity leave.”

While campaigning for Hillary Clinton, Meghan called Trump “misogynistic” and “divisive.”

It is not known if Harry will attend the dinner, although Prince William — England’s future king — is expected. Baby Sussex, it’s hoped, will mark a fresh start for the royal family amid reports of a reported fractured relationship between the brothers.

Reports of a riff between Prince Harry and Prince William have been circulating. Picture: Samir Hussein
Reports of a riff between Prince Harry and Prince William have been circulating. Picture: Samir Hussein
The alleged rift has been attributed to everything from William having warned his sibling to take things slow with Meghan during their courtship, to rumours of William possibly having a mistress.

(A palace source said that such rumours are “false, hurtful and defamatory.” Meanwhile, another insider told The Post that “the rift is not as huge as some have made it out to be” and that the brothers sat and joked together in church on Easter Sunday, which was also the Queen’s 93rd birthday.)

As for recent reports that Meghan and Harry are being lined up for a new role that could see them moving to Africa, a highly placed royal source told The Post: “I wouldn’t be surprised if things are put on ice. It’s impossible to exaggerate how the new arrival will affect Meghan and Harry. I’m hearing nothing supporting the argument that an actual move away is in the cards.”

Finally, British bookmakers say that, if the new baby is a girl, bettors believe she’ll be named Diana.

“I’ve no doubt Princess Diana would have been extremely happy to welcome an addition to the family,” said Jephson. “She knew the transformative effect of a newborn child — not least to help heal family wounds, if there are any to be healed. And she would need no reminding that the new arrival joins an ancient family at the heart of British national identity. So amid the celebrations, all baby Sussex’s relatives will know that a lifetime of duty to crown and country lies ahead. The future of the Windsor dynasty demands it.”
