Meghan Markle is reported to have spent the summer planning a project which will help her ‘rise like a phoenix from the ashes’.

Meghan Markle is planning a comeback to Hollywood because she “likes being famous” according to a well placed insider.

There have been various reports of a planned change in direction for the Duchess of Sussex, who has been said to be working on individual projects and a commercial venture in the public eye once again. There have been more pictures popping up of the former Suits actress appearing in selfies with pals and being snapped making her way about her Montecito neighbourhood in California over the past few weeks than ever.

Now Page Six is reporting she’s been spending the summer months planning a “phoenix-like rise from the ashes” after a “brutal” few months for her and husband Prince Harry.

According to a source who has “knowledge from their time with Spotify”, Meghan is now well and truly ready to ditch any calls for privacy from the media and wants to throw herself head first into developing more projects to boost her popularity, while Harry is slightly different.

The source told Page 6: “Harry has made it clear that he never wanted to be in the media…he would be very happy to go away. I think he’d like to go and live in Botswana – as long as he had money.

    “Meghan actually likes being famous.”

The couple’s “brutal” few months started with the car-chase across New York which they said was a high-speed race through Manhattan which put their lives in danger, but was questioned by a police statement which seemed to dispute their dramatic claims.

Then came Spotify’s shock axe of their multi-million deal and the end of Meghan’s Archetypes podcast after just one series. And then came an onslaught from industry high-flyers including Spotify executive Bill Simmons, who called them “f**** grifters”, as well as United Talent Agency CEO Jeremy Zimmer, who said of the cancellation: “Turns out Meghan Markle was not a great audio talent, or necessarily any kind of talent.” However it was later claimed by sources that UTA had been pursuing Markle.

But, as Page Six reports, there’s a new direction seemingly coming from Meghan as she plans her next move. Her Instagram account @Meghan has 72,000 followers and climbing and the recent addition of Suits has broken viewing records for Netflix – a feat that wasn’t achieved by Harry&Meghan the documentary.

A source told Page Six: “Meghan’s not seeking out opportunities to be photographed, but she’s realised she has to live her life, none of the cameras are going away.”

As well as being snapped shopping at a farmers market in Montecito, Meghan has been reported to have gone to see Barbie at the cinema with celeb pals including neighbour Portia De Rossi, enjoyed a Taylor Swift concert, several dinners that have been caught on camera by fans, and was featured in a casual selfie with friends, poet Cleo Wade and hair stylist Kadi Lee, in the past few weeks.

And this all comes as she’s reportedly finishing up her “new project” after signing with Hollywood powerbroker Ari Emmanuel – rumoured to be a revamp of ‘The Tig’ – Meghan’s now defunct lifestyle blog which she shut down after meeting Prince Harry – to rival Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop or even a production company.

“Meghan and the team are working hard,” another insider told Page Six. “I think it will be surprising, it won’t be what everybody is expecting it to be, it will feel familiar to who Meghan is.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are arguing over where they’d like to permanently live as the duchess refuses to leave California, sources claim.

The Duke of Sussex is reportedly keen on relocating to New York as he “feels at home” in the big city but it seems Meghan Markle has other plans as she doesn’t want to leave California.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a trip to NYC earlier this month to host the Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit for World Mental Health Day on October 10.

It seems that the 39-year-old prince was such a huge fan of the city that he has been left wanting more after a source claims he would like to live there permanently after enjoying “the fast pace, the culture, the social scene.”

They added that Harry is homesick and “desperately misses London” where he grew up with the Royal Family and found it comforting to be in a big city, the Mirror reports.

Britain's Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, left, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, participate in The Archewell Foundation Parents' Summit "Mental Wellness in the Digital Age" as part of Project Healthy Minds' World Mental Health Day Festival on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, in New York.

The source also said it would be easier for him to return home for a long weekend in the UK if he lived in New York with a flight from NYC to London taking eight hours while a flight from Los Angeles takes 10.5 hours.

While Harry is up for the big move, Meghan on the other hand does not seem as keen.

The source claims she is “unconvinced” by Harry’s argument that being in NYC will help him to commute.

They added: “Meghan’s so happy to finally be back in California – she can’t imagine leaving. For her, it’s Hollywood all the way right now. It would make zero sense to move.”

Just three months ago, rumours were circling that the Sussexes’ were thinking about moving to Meghan’s childhood home of Malibu beach.

The couple were reportedly looking into the possibility of moving to the coast on the outskirts of central Los Angeles where many of Hollywood’s biggest A-listers stay.

The duke was said to be “excited” about the move to Malibu, according to the source, but has now changed his mind.

Despite this, they said Meghan is “committed” to being in LA as it will be easier for them to commute for work.

The source continued on to say that the Sussexes will be needing to spend even more time in LA once their projects pick up.

Speaking to Heat magazine, the source added: “She’s all about making face-to-face contact and building meaningful relationships, so they can be power players in the way Harry says he wants.”

However, they’ve claimed that Meghan has agreed to reach a compromise with the royal as they explained: “She says maybe once they’ve made a success of things in Hollywood, they can look at getting a place in New York.”

Prince William replied with a short four-word statement when he was informed by Prince Harry that Meghan Markle was expecting their first child.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were thrilled to discover they would become parents in 2018, and decided to disclose the joyful news to the Royal Family in October that year during Princess Eugenie’s nuptials to Jack Brooksbank.

In his tell-all memoir, ‘Spare’, Harry narrated this poignant moment which took place at the reception hosted in St George’s Hall in Windsor.

He wrote: “We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls. Strange room, strange moment.”

Then Harry reminisced about William’s reaction to his news saying his brother smiled and simply stated: “We must tell Kate.”

He also described Kate Middleton’s delighted response when she learnt the news as he wrote: “She also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I hoped – as I’d wished.”

The news of Meghans pregnancy was also shared with his father, the then Prince Charles, at the wedding.

Harry expressed in his book that the monarch was completely “delighted” when he heard the news.

Recounting the moment, Harry wrote: “Just before a drink reception for the bride and groom, we cornered Pa in his study. He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time; his wide smile warmed me.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, brought baby Archie into the world on 6th May 2019 at London’s Portland Hospital.

The Royal couple have since joyously welcomed a second child, their daughter Lilibet Diana, born on June 4, 2021, in the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, California.

In his memoir, the duke reminisced the birth of his first child and confessed he was profoundly nervous.

To calm his anxiety surrounding the birth, Prince Harry sought solace in laughing gas that was intended for Meghan’s pain relief during labour.

However, as the intensity and frequency of Meghan’s contractions increased, Prince Harry was forced to apologise for accidentally using the entire canister of laughing gas.

Recalling the incident, Harry wrote: “When her contractions began to quicken, and deepen, a nurse came and tried to give some laughing gas to Meg.”

“There was none left. The nurse looked at the tank, looked at me, and I could see the thought slowly dawning: Gracious, the husband’s had it all. Sorry, I said meekly.”

A resurfaced clip shows Russell Brand boasting about “putting one on” Meghan Markle before she met Prince Harry.

The footage has come to light after after the comedian was accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse. Brand has denied all the allegations made against him, which were made during an investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches.

In the TV interview from 2018, he recalls “snogging” while she was still an actress, when they were both starring in Get Him to the Greek. Brand starred as rock star Aldous Snow and the Duchess of Sussex had a small role as a partygoer called Tatiana.

Brand had been appearing on ITV’s Loose Women just before Harry and Meghan’s wedding that same year, as writes the Mirror.

He was asked if it was true he’d once kissed the former Suits star and he replied: “She was in a film that I was in, Get Him to the Greek, it was a good film. Meghan Markle didn’t know at the time because she wasn’t married to a royal person. I don’t remember the film that much, I think I planted one on her in the scene. But that was scripted in the scene. I only know this because I think I saw a clip of it somewhere. They should bring that up [at the wedding]… if anyone has any reason… yeah Russell Brand snogged her in the film!”

Brand, 48, has been accused of allegations of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse by four women across a time period from 2006 and 2013.

During this time Brand was a presenter on BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 and starred in several Hollywood films.

On Friday night, the star – who rose to stardom as the host of Big Brother’s Big Mouth – shared a video statement on his YouTube channel where he vehemently denied “criminal” and “very serious” allegations that he said had been put to him by two media outlets, describing it as a “coordinated attack”.

The allegations surfaced against Brand during the joint investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches show, the Sunday Times and The Times, in programme which aired at 9pm on Saturday.

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle have touched down in Canada, just days after launching their major rebrand.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have always been open about their love for the country – and even fled there during Megxit.

Just days ago the pair were fiercely criticised for launching a new website as part of their rebrand, with one royal expert slamming them for “cashing in” on their royal ties.

Meghan today broke her silence on the new site, ignoring critics while she boasted about its design.

She and Harry then arrived at Vancouver’s Rockies Ski Resort to launch next year’s Invictus Games.

The couple beamed as they made their way across the ice to meet veterans – with the prince boasting a smile ear to ear as he gave sit-skiing a go.

While in Canada, he is expected to tell crowds how much the country means to the royal duo, according to The Telegraph.

Harry fell in love with the “pace of life” on Vancouver Island when he and Meghan moved into a £11million mansion there after quitting as royals.

At the time it was said the Mille Fleurs home near Victoria, British Columbia would have cost more than £100,000 to rent.

The idyllic bolthole has stunning views and boasts eight bedrooms and two private beaches.

The couple called the spot home in the months after Megix, spending their first Christmas with baby Archie there.

The French country-inspired mansion sits on its own, kept private by dozens of trees and mostly surrounded by water.

The home itself is well-lit, with sunshine pouring in from a glass roof in one room.

It has massive wooden beams, with beautiful chandeliers hanging from them, and the kitchen boasts two marble-top islands.

There’s also a formal dining room, a panelled office with a fireplace, and massive two-storey living room.

It opens to a chef’s kitchen with pizza oven, a games room with wet bar, a media room and a wine tasting room.

The house is framed by beautiful flower-filled gardens, which stand out against the grey-stoned home.

It doesn’t seem the sort of place a royal couple would go.

With a whopping 11,416sqf space, the home also has a 2,349sqf guest cottage – which boasts three beds and two bathrooms.

One local, who did not wish to be named, told The Sun in 2020: “I was very surprised to hear they were staying there because it’s always been a mystery about who actually owns it.

“It doesn’t seem the sort of place a royal couple would go.”

The mystery over the property’s ownership raised concerns over the couple’s acquaintances as they seek “financial independence”.

It was later revealed a controversial Canadian billionaire with links to the Clintons owned the home.

Locals on the island first spotted Harry and Meghan around December 18, 2019 enjoying hikes and jogs — with the pair even stopping to take a selfie for another couple on New Year’s Day.

The estate agent who sold the Canadian mansion said at the time: “It’s a beautiful property, it’s one of the nicest ones on the island. It has great privacy.

“I think the current owner’s done quite a renovation.”

Harry & Meghan ‘change Archie and Lilibet’s names to Sussex’ in bid to ‘unify’ family as new Sussex.com website launched

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle have changed Archie and Lilibet’s names as they move to “unify” the family, a source has claimed.

The children had been known as Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, first coined by the late Queen and Prince Philip surnames.

But since the King’s coronation, the children are now as Archie and Lilibet Sussex.

News of the change coincides with the couple launching their new website Sussex.com, which sources say was a bid to “unify” the family.

But Harry and Meghan have been fiercely criticised for the site, with one royal expert slamming them for “cashing in” on their royal ties.

The children will both go by the last name Sussex in a “proud moment” for the family which represents their “unification”.

An insider told The Times: “The reality behind the new site is very simple — it’s a hub for the work the Sussexes do and it reflects the fact the family have, since the King’s coronation, the same surname for the first time.

“That’s a big deal for any family. It represents their unification and it’s a proud moment.”

Archie and Lilibet’s names have been controversial for the Sussexes.

When Archie was born in May 2019, he was seventh in line to the throne and – although he was a great-grandchild of the monarch – he was not a first-born son of a future king, so was not automatically a prince.

In their shock interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan hinted that Archie not getting the title of prince automatically was a point of contention.

She said: “All the grandeur around this stuff is not really important to me.

“But in those months when I was pregnant, all around same time: we have in tandem he won’t be given security, a title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

Oprah had asked Meghan: “How do they explain to you that your son, the great grandson of the Queen, wasn’t going to be a prince?

“You certainly must have had conversations with Harry about it and had your own suspicions as to why they didn’t want to make Archie a prince.”

But sources claimed the couple “didn’t want any titles for their children” and had told the Royal Family so – but went to moan to Oprah about their son’s lack of one anyway.

Another source told the Telegraph Meghan and Harry “never raised an issue” and that the Duke of Sussex had been “adamant” that Archie “should be raised without titles Harry’s cousins Peter and Zara Phillips”.

It reflects the fact the family have, since the King’s coronation, the same surname for the first time

Then, fresh claims alleged Meghan and Harry rejected an Earl title for Archie because it contained the word “dumb”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided against the title Earl of Dumbarton for their son because they allegedly feared it would attract unfortunate nicknames.

Last year it was revealed Meghan and Harry intended to use prince and princess for both kids in formal settings as Charles was now King, calling it the kids’ “birthright”.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes said: “The children’s titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became monarch.

“This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace.”

Yesterday Prince Harry tried his hand at sit-skiing as wife Meghan watched on during their visit to Canada.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in Whistler, British Columbia, to mark one year until the Invictus Games are held there in 2025.

The pair made their way across the snow hand in hand, while hugging and greeting people on the way.

During the the Valentine’s Day outing, Harry, 39, was given a demonstration of how to sit-ski while Meghan, 42, waited for him at the bottom of the slope.

The couple – who donned wool hats and snow boots – chatted and joked around as they with groups of sit-skiers, standing skiers and visually impaired athletes.

Among those they spoke with was Canadian para alpine sit-skier Alex Cairns.

Born with Spina Bifida, the 32-year-old competed at his first Paralympic Winter Games in 2018.

He and Meghan are tomorrow expected to attend a wheelchair curling demonstration in nearby Vancouver.

How Archie and Lilibet’s names have changed over time

Archie was born in May 2019, he was seventh in line to the throne so was too far down the line of succession to be given the title of prince.

Although he was a great-grandchild of the monarch, he was not a first-born son of a future king or queen, so was not automatically a prince.

In their shock interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan hinted that Archie not getting the title of prince automatically was a point of contention.

She said: “All the grandeur around this stuff is not really important to me.

“This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace.”

But the couple were said to be keen to allow Archie and Lilibet the chance to decide for themselves whether to drop or keep using the titles when they get older.

The youngsters became prince and princess when the King acceded to the throne, but remained a plain “master” and “miss” on the Buckingham Palace website for six months.

However, the change was updated on the Royal Family website in May – naming the youngsters as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

As the children of a sovereign’s son, Archie and Lili are automatically a prince and princess and now have an HRH style if they choose.

The couple came under fire this week just hours after launching Sussex.com, which they had dubbed a “one-stop-shop” for fans to get “personal updates”.

The late Queen banned the couple from using ‘SussexRoyal’ after they stepped away from royal duty four years ago.

The Queen ordered the pair to mothball it in the January 2020 exit settlement, when Meghan and Harry stopped being senior members of the royal family.

Couple to come ‘under fire’ over royal crest

    By Matt Wilkinson

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry are set to come under fire for using their royal coat of arms in their US-based rebrand.

The Duchess of Sussex worked closely with the College of Arms in London to create the design, Kensington Palace said at the time it was first revealed after their royal wedding in May 2018.

The crest – which harks back to their royal life despite walking away to live in the USA – has a blue shield representing the Pacific Ocean and rays symbolising sunshine of California

The lion relates to the Duke of Sussex and a songbird supporting represents Meghan.

Beneath the shield is California’s state flower the golden poppy and Wintersweet and was also depicted on the duchess’ wedding veil.

The three quills illustrate the power of words and communication.

The royal crest has barely been used by the couple before.

And a royal expert tonight slammed the Sussexes for “cashing in” on the crest.

Angela Levin told The Sun: “They are cashing in on their royal connections that they say they hate so much.

“Queen Elizabeth II would be furious because they promised they wouldn’t do that.

“They should be stopped from using a title that they spent years insulting

“They left the Royal Family because they didn’t want anything to do with it but now realise they can use Sussex rather than Archewell.

“Four years after they left they are trying to be royal and also setting up the ‘Office’ of Prince Harry and Meghan, it is so hypocritical.

“It is pathetic, they couldn’t use SussexRoyal so they have found a way round it.

But the new site still links back to the Sussex Royal website.

Visitors to that site see a notice that reads: “This site was established in 2020 and sets out the work streams of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex prior to their move to the United States.”

A link then takes the pair back to Sussex.com.

Meghan yesterday broke her silence on the new Sussex.com, ignoring critics while she boasted about its design.

She and Harry were then snapped with smiles ear-to-ear as they met veterans on the ice to launch next year’s Invictus Games.

The prince took a hands-on approach, giving sit-skiing a go while Meghan watched on with a smile.

They hugged and shook hands with dozens of people in their first appearance since the rebrand.

The couple had been labelled “pathetic” for using their royal crest on the new site, despite no longer being part of The Firm.

George Clooney thinks the British media should “be a little kinder” to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, after she gave birth to baby Archie.

Clooney, a close friend of Meghan and Prince Harry, told the The Associated Press at the Hollywood premiere of his miniseries Catch 22 on Tuesday that the media scrutiny will intensify even more now that she and Prince Harry are parents.

“[A public life] if you’re a royal is in part what you have to do, but going to interview people’s parents and stuff like that, it starts to step into a really dark place,” Clooney said, referring to numerous interviews with Meghan’s estranged father Thomas Markle Sr.

The actor, father to twins, said “the press turned on [Meghan and Harry]” and he thinks people should be kinder because “she’s a young woman who just had a baby.”

The Clooneys have even vacationed with the royal couple.

It’s not the first time the Oscar-winner has spoken out in defence of the Duchess.

In February, Clooney claimed that the media treatment of the Duchess of Sussex mirrored that of the late Princess Diana.

“They’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified,” Clooney said during a panel at the Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour.

“She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she is being pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it’s history repeating itself.

“And we’ve seen how that ends. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to see that.”

Then again in March he said during an appearance on Good Morning Britain:

“I think it’s a little unfair at times when — I’ve seen it when the press can turn on you for sort of ridiculous reasons and for almost nothing, and it seemed to me to be a little unjust since she hadn’t done anything except just happen to live her life,” he explained.

“She’s a really kind and smart and intelligent young woman,” Clooney continued.

“Most of it you can just shrug off and not pay attention to, but sometimes it’s unkind,” adding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “a really wonderful, loving couple.”

Meghan and Harry’s first child was born on Monday May 6 at 5.26 AM London time.

The couple was whisked from Frogmore Cottage under the cover of darkness to private London hospital The Portland, where Meghan gave birth in a luxury $37K-a-night suite.

A ROYAL author has claimed that nobody would be interested in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex if it wasn’t for their Royal links.

Royal editor Ingrid Seward exclusively told The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson that the pair haven’t stopped using their royal titles to bolster their career since moving to California.

Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan Markle, 42, quit their royal duties back in 2020 amid simmering tensions betwenn them and other family members.

Their departure was coined as Megxit after the couple started a new life in California, something Harry has claimed he had no choice but to do due to security concerns for his family.

Since leaving, the pair have struck up a number of lucrative deals from their infamous Netflix documentary to launching a podcast.

Why don’t they just keep out of it and try and live on their own merits, I think they would get a lot more respect if they did that

    Ingrid Seward

Now the duo have undergone yet another re-brand as they launched a new website to promote their work, referring to themselves as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and as environmental campaigners.

Asked if they were using their royal names to cash in, Ingrid claims: “They never stopped using their royal links, ever.

“No one would be remotely interested in them if it wasn’t for their royal links.

“But at least they are aware of that.”

She says that despite wanting to leave the royal family and their duties, they still wanted to keep the bits they liked.

“That’s why I just find it hypocritical,” she adds.
There’s also some controversy about them using the the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and saying it’s a family name,” she explains.
“It’s not a family name actually -it’s a title which was given to them by the Queen.”

Instead of raking in new deals with businesses, the royal author says they should focus on ‘getting by ‘with their ‘living on own merits.’

“Why don’t they just keep out of it and try and live on their own merits, I think they would get a lot more respect if they did that,” she adds.

Ingrid also touched on the couple ditching their Archewell website and replacing it with Sussex.com to share “personal updates” with fans.

The royal author says: “I don’t think it’s breached the terms of Megxit, I think it’s walking a very thin line.”

They have also been criticised for not consulting the Royal Family first, after the Queen had banned the couple from using ‘SussexRoyal’ when they stepped away from royal duty four years ago.

Now, the pair have hit back with a representative of the couple telling The Mirror: “We’ve heard time and time again that certain opportunities are make or break for the couple.

“They’re still here. They’re still working and pursuing what they believe in, despite constantly being challenged and criticised.

“This couple will not be broken.”

Ingrid also touched on whether she though their new website was a good idea considering King Charles’ cancer diagnosis and Princess Katherine recovering from abdominal surgery.

“They’re timing is always bad, but obviously they’ve done it now because they are going to Canada for the Invictus Games and really want to promote themselves,” she explains.

But she thinks Prince Harry should have thought about waiting instead of focusing on ‘them.’

The couple are currently visiting Vancouver for an Invictus Game event as news of their new website caused controversy.

The couple have spent their time getting ski lessons at Vancouver Whistler 2025 One Year to Go celebrations ahead of the event for wounded service personnel next year.

Meghan was spotted taking snaps of Harry as he trained for the skeleton bobsledding as they joined a training session.

Max Verstappen had a forgettable qualifying session in Monaco, where he could only muster up a P6 starting position for Sunday’s Grand Prix. In what appears to be his worst performance on paper so far this season, Verstappen is adamant that it was the car that let him down.

In the aftermath of Saturday’s qualifying, a reporter asked Verstappen if it was his first ‘real mistake’ of 2024. The 26-year-old didn’t agree. Instead, he said,

“I would happily invite everyone in this paddock to drive that car and try to go faster than me.”

Verstappen was referring to the RB20’s issues that have plagued his entire weekend up until now. Since FP1 on Friday, both he and his teammate Sergio Perez have been complaining about the car’s handling. The several bumps and kerbs of the Monaco circuit are affecting their performance, and it was particularly evident in the second and third sectors.

Verstappen concedes to the fact that there isn’t much he can do to make up places on Sunday, owing to the fact that Monaco is a difficult circuit to overtake.

Meanwhile, Sergio Perez’s dismal performance added insult to injury in what has been a difficult weekend for Red Bull, overall.

Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen need a miracle

Verstappen starting from P6, will be hoping for a clean race on his part, and something miraculous ahead of him, to get into the top three. Perez, on the other hand, starts P16. He qualified in P18, but will start two places higher, thanks to the Haas cars’ disqualifications.

For Perez, the best he can seemingly hope for is points, but that too, will be a far fetch. Qualifying is of utmost importance in Monaco, and Red Bull failed to get it right.

A team that did get it right, though, was Ferrari. Charles Leclerc grabbed pole in his home race and Carlos Sainz will start right behind him in P3. Together, they could bring home big points for the Maranello-based outfit in their bid to catch Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship standings.

As things stand, Red Bull is 56 points ahead of Ferrari, heading into the Monaco GP.

There has always been some sort of tension between Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, a consequence of the F1 adage of your teammate being your biggest competitor. There were a lot of nuances to their relationship, but it is amicable. Now, however, with George Russell getting comfortable as the number one driver of the team, the question looming is whether Mercedes will neglect their erstwhile favorite or worse, destroy him.

These thoughts were catalyzed by Hamilton’s statements post a disappointing qualifying session in Monaco. The Ferrari-bound driver not only revealed that only his teammate got the upgrades this race but also made a telling remark about his situation at Mercedes.

After being out-qualified by his teammate for the seventh time this season, Hamilton revealed to the press, “I anticipated it would be difficult to outqualify George because he has the upgraded component but it’s great to see we are bringing upgrades.” While there seemed to be a glimmer of hope in his voice, the mood shifts.

To Sky Sports, a disgruntled Hamilton then said, “I don’t anticipate being ahead of George in qualifying this year.” When asked why Hamilton predicted it to be all year, a shrug and a telling smile would’ve been enough, but he added, “We’ll see.”

But the damage was done. The fans understood the subliminal message Hamilton put out, if any. Safe to say, they are angry. Hamilton is usually all about his team and enjoys being a beacon of positivity. This side of him could only mean something is up.

Lewis Hamilton fans try to find answers

Was Lewis Hamilton hinting that Mercedes is sabotaging him? No one will know. But the tone that was conveyed to the fans took its tune. Seeing their driver hurt, the fans were angry.

Many also prayed for revenge. Hamilton recently admitted that he’s still relaying information to his team that could help them well into the future. Maybe he should stop?

While there was anger and frustration, there was also sympathy and worry.

And so the question remains: Is Mercedes really working against the driver who’s given them his every being? While it’s not impossible, one can hope that Hamilton’s predictions for his year ahead are wrong.
