Formula 1 descends on Miami as Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and Co soak up the Florida sunshine ahead of star-studded event

The Formula One circus makes its next stop in sunny Florida this week for the Miami Grand Prix.

This will be the third time this race has been run – with the previous two races dominated by Red Bull Racing.

Max Verstappen, who won both races, is back in Miami with the hopes of a three-peat on his mind.

Of course, Red Bull would be just as happy if his teammate Sergio Perez continued their run of dominance on this track.

But other drivers have shown up as well – including Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and both Ferrari drivers: Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

This marks the sixth race of what has already looked like another season of Red Bull dominance.

Both Verstappen and Perez are atop the driver standings – with the Dutchman on 110 points and his Mexican counterpart at 85 points.

Behind the both of them is the Ferrari duo of Leclerc and Sainz on 76 and 69 points respectively.

Verstappen has won all but one race – the Australian Grand Prix, where Sainz took home the top prize.

Like other years, the Miami Grand Prix should be a perfect opportunity for celebrities to come out and soak up some sun and breathe in some burning rubber (if they ever get that close to the track).

Final preparations for the race are underway as the track and facilities are finished up

After a busy week of qualifying and sprints, the race begins on Sunday at 4:00pm local time

Among the planned appearances includes Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, as the power couple have confirmed their attendance.

Kelce will be joined by his fellow Kansas City Chiefs star, quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He’ll be joined by his wife Brittany.

It’s unclear if 45th President of the United States Donald Trump will be showing up after a planned fundraiser he wanted to set up at the race was shut down by race officials for violating the suite agreement.

A cease and desist letter was sent to a friend of the former president, saying, ‘It has come to our attention that you may be using your Paddock Club Rooftop Suite for a political purpose, namely raising money for a federal election at $250,000 per ticket, which clearly violates the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix suite license agreement.

‘If this is true, we regret to inform you that your suite license will be revoked, you will not be allowed to attend the race at any time, and we will refund you in full.’

Ferrari-bound Lewis Hamilton ‘very much’ wants to work with Adrian Newey at the Scuderia next season… with the F1 design guru to be a free agent after leaving Red Bull

Lewis Hamilton has revealed he ‘very much’ wants to work with design guru Adrian Newey at Ferrari next season.

The positivity of Hamilton’s comments indicated that a deal to sign Newey is firmly in Ferrari’s thoughts, and, probably, even further nearer completion.

With Newey, 65, due to leave Red Bull next year, Hamilton was asked if he wanted to link. ‘Very much,’ he responded before adding: ‘Adrian Newey has got such a great history and track record and he has done an amazing job throughout his career. With the knowledge he has he would be an amazing addition.’

Hamilton added: ‘They (Ferrari) have got a great team and they are making huge progress and their car is quicker this year, but it would be a privilege to work with him.

‘If I made a list of people I would like to work with then he (Newey) would absolutely be at the top of it.

Red Bull confirmed the departure of F1’s most successful designer Adrian Newey next spring

Lewis Hamilton will join Ferrari next season and Newey has been tipped to make same move

‘Any team would be fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him.’

It seems that Hamilton may even have spoken to Ferrari chairman John Elkann about signing Newey prior to committing his own future to the Scuderia earlier in the year.

He dodged answering whether Newey’s name was first brought up, saying it was ‘private’ – which was telling.

Hamilton, 39, added: ‘From my perspective when I joined McLaren (in 2006) it was an evolution of his car.

‘I got there just after he left and it was linked to the concept he had worked on, so I felt privileged I could touch something he had worked on.’

Newey’s impending departure was announced this week in a blow to Red Bull, where he has grown disillusioned over time. The potential role at Ferrari could conceivably double his money from £15million – though it is the challenge of adding to his 25 world titles as a designer in the iconic red that appears to hold the real allure. Doing so would make him a winner at four teams, comprising Williams, McLaren and Red Bull (and then Ferrari).

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez said he didn’t believe Newey’s departure would trigger a mass exodus from the embattled team. The Mexican said: ‘It is obviously not ideal to lose someone like Adrian who has been tremendous to our team and our organisation. He is a good friend of mine.

Newey is a legendary F1 designer and has been key to Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s success

A Hamilton-Newey combination at Ferrari could reignite both in the autumn of their careers

‘But there are times in life to do something else and he has been at Red Bull for 20 years so it is fair.

‘I don’t think there will be an exodus. Everyone is fully committed to the team. We are having a tremendous season. The future looks bright. It is normal you have this kind of movement but the organisation remains strong and I don’t see any more changes in that regard.

‘Adrian has contributed to the Red Bull philosophy and I assume he would cause an immediate impact whoever he goes because he is a very clever guy and hard worker. He is much more than a designer. He influence set-up, strategies and he has a big impact on race weekends.’

Max Verstappen says Adrian Newey’s shock departure will NOT impact his future at Red Bull for ‘the moment’

Max Verstappen isn’t planning on leaving Red Bull amid Adrian Newey’s shock exit from the team.

    Not yet, at least.

The reigning world champion addressed speculation he’s reconsidering his future at the team ahead of the Miami Grand Prix Thursday.

‘Not at the moment,’ he told reporters, when asked whether recent events, including Christian Horner‘s scandal, were affecting his decision-making.

‘I cannot deny that I would have preferred [Newey] to stay because of how he is as a person, his knowledge and what he would bring to potentially another team,’ Verstappen admitted.

Newey’s exit comes a few weeks after Christian Horner was embroiled in a scandal of his own

However, the Dutch driver said he has faith in the rest of Red Bull’s design team, noting that the Chief Technology Officer’s role had ‘changed’ a lot since he joined in 2006.

‘A lot of good people came into the team and that has strengthened that whole department,’ he explained.

‘I trust that the technical team we have outside of Adrian is very strong,’ Verstappen went on, citing the car’s rapid performance over the past few seasons.

Meanwhile, Ferrari-bound Lewis Hamilton said he ‘very much’ wants to work with Newey when he joins the Italian constructor next season.

‘Adrian Newey has got such a great history and track record and he has done an amazing job throughout his career. With the knowledge he has he would be an amazing addition,’ the seven-time world champion told reporters Thursday.

‘They (Ferrari) have got a great team and they are making huge progress and their car is quicker this year, but it would be a privilege to work with him,’ he went on.

‘If I made a list of people I would like to work with then he (Newey) would absolutely be at the top of it.’

Formula One stars hit the track for the first time at Miami Grand Prix as practice begins ahead of sprint qualifying

Miami Grand Prix weekend is officially up and running after Formula One stars took to the track for the first time in a practice session on Friday.

The likes of Lewis HamiltonCharles Leclerc and reigning champion Max Verstappen went through the gears at the Miami International Autodrome two days out from Sunday’s race, with the latter recording the fastest time at 1:28:595.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, Mercedes’ George Russell and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll made up the rest of the top five.

Later on Friday, drivers will return to the track for qualifying ahead of Saturday afternoon’s sprint race, which takes place a few hours before qualifying for the main event is contested.

Verstappen has won four races out of five this season, with Sainz the only driver to beat him so far at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in March.

The Red Bull superstar addressed his future with the team on Thursday amid speculation that it is uncertain following the shock departure of car designer Adrian Newey.

The scandal surrounding Christian Horner, who was recently accused of ‘coercive behavior towards a female employee’, is another factor which some believe has left Verstappen’s future in doubt.

‘Not at the moment,’ he told reporters, when asked whether recent events were affecting his decision-making.

  • Talk About Formula 1 Drivers Family And Girlfriends | Love Story Between Verstappen and Kelly Piquet

Talk About Formula 1 Drivers Family And Girlfriends | Love Story Between Verstappen and Kelly Piquet

Formula One (F1) drivers, like many high-profile athletes, often have a public persona that extends beyond their performance on the track. This includes their personal lives, which can include their family, friends, and romantic partners. Some F1 drivers have been known to have high-profile relationships with celebrities and models.

One such relationship that made headlines was between F1 driver Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet, the daughter of former F1 driver Nelson Piquet. Verstappen and Piquet met in 2019, and they made their relationship public in early 2020. They have since been spotted together at various events, including the Monaco Grand Prix.

Aside from romantic relationships, F1 drivers also have a close relationship with their families. Many drivers come from a family with a history of racing, and their parents or siblings have also been involved in motorsports. For example, current F1 driver Charles Leclerc comes from a family of racers, with his father and younger brother also competing in various forms of motorsports.

Continued Woes for Lewis Hamilton as He Struggles in Miami Sprint Qualifying

Lewis Hamilton qualified just 12th for the sprint race at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday, which only served to further highlight his problematic season in Miami.

Max Verstappen’s Red Bull took the lead, and Hamilton, who hasn’t been in the top six this season, scraped the wall before being eliminated in the second round.

George Russell, Hamilton’s teammate, finished 11th on another dismal afternoon for Mercedes in the Sunshine State and was unable to advance to the final phase.

Hamilton declared over the radio, “I have got nothing,” after his early withdrawal from qualifying, which selects the starting grid for Saturday’s 19-lap race.

The seven-time world champion then left his Mercedes with a disappointed shake of his head.

The Silver Arrows have expedited the installation of an updated floor that was initially scheduled for the upcoming round in Imola in two weeks by bringing a redesigned machine to Florida.

However, the new package was unable to turn around the performance of a squad that was struggling to finish in fourth place among constructors.

Seeing both drivers crash out of Q2, team principal Toto Wolff buried his face in his hands.

After designer Adrian Newey confirmed he is leaving Red Bull at the end of the year, Verstappen pushed the team’s off-track issues aside to take the lead, and the Dutchman is on track to waltz to his fourth world championship in as many years.

“Lol,” he said over the radio after edging out Leclerc by 0.108 seconds. “What happened to the others? This was terrible but I will take it.”

For Ferrari, Daniel Ricciardo qualified fourth, Sergio Perez third, and Charles Leclerc second.

Nonetheless, Verstappen was taken aback that he had defeated his competitors despite appearing to be having trouble controlling his all-conquering Red Bull machine.

  • Max Verstappen reveals the reason why he lost to Lando Norris at the Miami GP

Max Verstappen reveals the reason why he lost to Lando Norris at the Miami GP

Max Verstappen has heaped praise on Lando Norris for a “deserved” breakthrough Formula 1 victory, with the Red Bull driver accepting defeat to his McLaren rival at the end of a dramatic Miami Grand Prix.

Verstappen controlled the early stages of Sunday’s encounter but lost the lead to Norris under a mid-race Safety Car, with the Dutchman pitting just before it was deployed and the Briton changing tyres under it.

Norris came under some pressure from Verstappen when the race restarted but managed to hold onto P1 and delivered an assured performance over the remaining laps to take the chequered flag.

Asked for his reaction to the result, which also marked McLaren’s first win since the 2021 Italian Grand Prix, Verstappen said: “You win, you lose. We’re all used to that in racing, right?

“Today was a bit tricky. I think already on the medium [tyres] it didn’t feel fantastic, we were pulling away but not like it should be. Then once we made a pit stop I heard what the lap times McLaren were doing and I was like, ‘Well, that’s pretty quick!’.

“Once then they also switched onto the hard tyre, they just had more pace, especially Lando he was flying. It was incredibly difficult for us on that stint but if a bad day is P2 I take it.”

He added: “I’m very happy for Lando, it’s been a long time coming and it’s not going to be his last one, so he definitely deserves it today.”

Verstappen was unable to make an impression on Norris after the Safety Car restart

Asked if McLaren are showing their ‘true pace’ after a raft of updates to their cars at the Miami International Autodrome, Verstappen said: “I hope not! They came with an upgrade, for sure it looks like it works so we have a bit of work to do from our side.

“I think definitely it wasn’t our strongest weekend in terms of race pace, but we’ll analyse it all and we’ll try to come back stronger.”

Despite missing out on victory, Verstappen has extended his advantage at the top of the drivers’ standings to 35 points, with nearest championship rival and team mate Sergio Perez coming home back in fifth position.

  • Kelly Piquet WILL NOT let Max Verstappen pile on pounds after F1 retirement

Kelly Piquet WILL NOT let Max Verstappen pile on pounds after F1 retirement

The life of an F1 driver is often a tough one with a brutal exercise regime just one of the sacrifices the stars of the 2023 grid have to make – and reigning world champion Max Verstappen is no different.

But if the 25-year-old current king thought he might be able to loosen his belt a little in retirement – quite literally – he was wrong.

READ MORE: F1 Driver Salaries: How much do Hamilton, Verstappen and co earn?

The Dutchman admitted earlier this year that he had gained a few pounds as he took time out to properly enjoy the fruits of his second world title win in late 2022. Before the grind to get back into shape for the 2023 season.

Kelly and Max on retirement (eating) plans

Verstappen has joked that he’d like to do that on a more regular basis when he finally decides to end his glittering career. But right now there appears to be one very prominent voice ready to stop that – girlfriend Kelly Piquet.

During the recent Viaplay documentary ‘Max Verstappen: Anatomy Of A Champion’, Max was quizzed about his fitness regime, and looked ahead to the future as he admitted: “When I am forty, then I will no longer race. Then I will eat what I want.”

That is the moment where 33-year-old model and influencer Kelly interjects with a firm and simple answer – “No”.

Max appears surprised by this and responds with “Not? I’m getting as fat as a pudding sandwich”. To which Kelly again responds “No”.

The documentary gives a fascinating glimpse of what life is like for the brilliant Verstappen – including his dream lifestyle in the millionaire’s playground of Monaco and his relationship with Piquet (daughter of three-time F1 world champ Nelson).

It shows him in relaxed mood and willing to open up about his life and career, which is going from strength to strength after those two world title wins.

  • Max Verstappen Needs to Get Down on One Knee as Kelly Piquet Drops Major Hint on Instagram

    Credits: IMAGO PanoramiC

Max Verstappen and Brazilian model Kelly Piquet have been in a relationship for three years now. They live together in Monaco, and Piquet’s daughter Penelope, too lives with the Dutchman. Now, however, things could turn up a notch as Piquet’s recent Instagram post suggests that she is ready to take their relationship to the next level by marrying Verstappen.

This seems to be the case despite there having been several rumors about them breaking up over the last few months. Even though these rumors have surfaced only recently, it is pertinent to note that Piquet continues to cheer Verstappen on.

The rumors about them breaking up started coming out because of Piquet’s failure to attend quite a few races this season. However, the reason behind her not doing so is solely the commitments she made to attend fashion shows around the world. And it is not just Piquet that seems interested in marrying Verstappen, but also the Red Bull driver’s mother, Sophie Kumpen.

Kelly Piquet seems keen on marrying Max Verstappen

Kelly Piquet took to her Instagram handle and put up a story on July 6 that showed a woman walking in a bridal gown. She interestingly captioned this post as, “My favorite part of Couture is always the bride“.

Since Piquet commented on the bridal wear, it seems likely that she is keen on marrying Max Verstappen. And if Sophie Kumpen’s interview from a year ago is anything to go by, then it seems that she too approves of the idea.

In the video, Kumpen stated, “Kelly, of course, is a bit older (than Max). She has a little child. They have created some form of a little family. I think that Max maybe missed that when he was young. Such stability has also helped him as he knows someone is waiting for him at home“.

Perhaps, Sophie Kumpen made these comments keeping her son Verstappen’s difficult childhood in mind. Since the Dutchman had to go through his parents separating when he was very young, he must be enjoying “stability” that Kumpen discussed about in her interview.

Piquet wants to have more children with Verstappen

Kelly Piquet, who currently has one child, Penelope, from her previous relationship with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat, once revealed in an interview that she wants her daughter to have a sibling. The 34-year-old told Vogue (as quoted by express.co.uk) in an interview in December last year, “Personally, I would like to have more children“.

And it seems that her boyfriend, Max Verstappen, also wants children of his own. In an interview with Limburger (as quoted by express.co.uk), the Dutchman said that he definitely wants children. However, the 25-year-old did make it clear that he does not think that he will become a parent anytime soon, because of his F1 career.
