Mike Tyson, 57, suffers medical scare during flight to Los Angeles – just two months before fight with 27-year-old Jake Paul

Mike Tyson suffered a medical emergency during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday, his representatives have confirmed.

The former heavyweight champion, 57, became nauseous and dizzy, forcing flight staff to ask passengers if there was a doctor on board to provide assistance.

Paramedics boarded the plane, which had already been delayed by two hours in Miami because of the heat, once it touched down in Los Angeles to give treatment.

It comes just two months before the boxing legend is due to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Arlington.

‘Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great,’ his representatives told The New York Post.

‘He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing.

‘He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.’

Typical symptoms of an ulcer flare up include nausea and vomiting, bloating, belching and gas pain, as well as chest pain and fatigue.

It comes after In Touch first revealed on Monday morning that Tyson ‘had some kind of medical emergency on the plane and paramedics boarded’.

Sources claim the cabin crew ‘issued an announcement asking for a doctor 30 minutes before landing and the message even came on everyone’s screens.’

‘He was in first class, but we were an exit row,’ an eyewitness added.

‘They asked us to stay on the plane and landed so paramedics could enter. [The stewardess] said something like, “He’s a really important passenger so we wanna make sure he’s OK.” I knew it was him, but I just mouthed the words “Mike Tyson” and she nodded her head yes.’

Once the plane landed at LAX, there was another delay of around 25 minutes while the paramedics treated Tyson.

Tyson, who has previously admitted he uses marijuana daily, has given the drug up while training to fight Paul because it is on the list of banned substances used by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

He also revealed he’s given up sex temporarily as part of his training regime.

Mike Tyson says Jake Paul has to ‘fight like his life depends on it

‘He only stopped as a means of following all of the rules,’ his publicist Joann Mignano recently told USA TODAY Sports.

‘But he is still a strong advocate for the medicinal benefits of cannabis for his personal well-being and others like him.’’

Tyson will be 58 on July 20, when the fight against Paul is set for AT&T Stadium – the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The fight has been marred by criticism in recent weeks, particularly at the vast age gap between the two fighters.

‘I don’t see too many people critical about it. Look at this,’ Tyson said at a press conference earlier this month..

When a reporter suggested there were critics, Tyson said, ‘Who? Name me somebody. You? Who?’

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation is sanctioning the fight as a professional bout, but it will be eight two-minute rounds instead of 10 or 12 rounds lasting three minutes each.

The gloves will be heavier (14 ounces instead of 10), which is supposed to reduce the power of punches.

Tyson retired in 2005, but most recently fought in an exhibition in November 2020 against Roy Jones in California, which wouldn’t declare it a pro fight.

Tyson was mostly annoyed by the scene and the questions, including when asked what it meant to have a chance to fill AT&T Stadium.

‘I was doing this years ago, so this is nothing new to me,’ said Tyson, who won 50 fights with 44 knockouts before retiring. ‘This is new to this young boy over here.’

Jake Paul has spoken out on social media following reports of Mike Tyson’s medical emergency during a flight to Los Angeles on Sunday.

Less than two months before his Netflix bout against Paul, Tyson, 57, became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up while making his way from Miami to LA, his representatives confirmed on Monday.

The boxing legend’s state forced flight staff to ask passengers if there was a doctor on board to provide assistance, before paramedics boarded the plane once it touched down in LA to provide treatment.

While he is already said to be ‘doing great’ after recovering, Tyson’s health scare has reignited fears over his safety heading into the July 20 contest with Paul, who is 30 years his junior.

Many are calling for ‘Iron’ Mike to be pulled out of the fight once again following his flight ordeal at the weekend, but Paul insists it is still going ahead as planned.

Nick Ball is looking to use his Mike Tyson-inspired style to get the better of Raymond Ford on Saturday… as he opens up on controversial Ray Vargas draw and AI in boxing

Nick Ball claims his fighting style is heavily inspired by the legendary Mike Tyson, a fact evident in his aggressive, relentless approach inside the ring.

Ball, much like Tyson, employs a fierce, forward-moving approach that seeks to overwhelm his opponents with constant pressure and powerful combinations.

Ball is also looking to replicate Tyson’s ability to end fights in devastating fashion when he faces Raymond Ford on Saturday evening.

‘I’ve always looked up to Mike Tyson’, Ball told Mail Sport. ‘I appreciate his style of boxing and wanted to incorporate that into my own style.

‘No messing about, looking to get the job done against his opponents. It’s all action and I think that is what everyone wants to watch as well.

‘You get your money’s worth when you are watching people like me and Mike Tyson because it is all action and edge of your seat stuff.’

Additionally, it’s clear to see that Ball’s mental approach to fighting mirrors Iron Mike’s early career mindset.

Tyson was known for his intimidation factor, entering the ring with an aura of menace that often gave him a psychological edge before the first punch was thrown.

Ball exudes a similar confidence and determination, projecting an image of fearlessness and relentless pursuit, which can unsettle his opponents.

When asked about how he copes with the pressure placed upon him when fighting on big stages, Ball said he embraces it.

‘There is always pressure when you step in the ring but it’s what you do with that pressure. I always take it and apply it.

‘This is might be I am back out in Saudi Arabia because they [the Saudis] like my style and they like what I am doing. So, I just have to keep doing what I am doing.’

Despite controlling much of the second half of the contest and having two 10-8 rounds in his favour, Ball failed to emerge victorious.

The judges were split with the final scores reading 114-112 Vargas, 116-110 Ball, and 113-113 even – much to Ball’s shock.

The controversy surrounding the decision has led Ball to voice his thoughts on the potential use of artificial intelligence (AI) in judging boxing matches.

It has been suggested that AI could analyse fights in real-time, using data on punch counts, power, accuracy, and ring control to deliver more precise scores.

However, Ball is not convinced on the idea of introducing technology in the sport at the moment.

‘I don’t really know to be honest. That would become more computerised whereas boxing is real life. Your life is on the line in there so I’m sure about using technology.

‘But, then there is the fact scoring will always be, I don’t want to use the word corrupt, but possibly it is.

‘I don’t really know to be honest, I would have to give it some more thought but as fighters, it’s our job to win the fight.

‘We have to do everything we can to win and we have to take it out of the judges hands. That’s what we are always looking to do.’

Ball’s controversial draw with Vargas highlights ongoing issues with boxing’s scoring system and opens up a broader discussion about the role of technology in the sport.

Mike Tyson medical history revealed after 57-year-old’s health scare onboard American Airlines flight ahead of Jake Paul fight(VIDEO HERE)

Concerns over Mike Tyson‘s health have been raised ahead of his comeback fight against YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul in July.

Given his age and the long gap he has had since taking part in professional boxing, medical professionals have warned the 57-year-old about the potential health risks he may face from participating in the fight.

An ulcer flare-up caused the boxing legend to feel nauseous and dizzy while he was onboard an American Airlines flight from Miami to LA on Sunday, May 26 – forcing flight staff to ask passengers if there was a doctor on board to provide assistance.

This isn’t the first time the fighting veteran has been spotted in poor health but it has sparked fears with just six weeks until he faces Paul on July 20.

Speaking ahead of the fight the 57-year-old admitted that, while his training is going well, his body isn’t what it used to be.

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has sparked health concerns after he fell ill onboard an American airlines flight from Miami to LA

‘I’m beautiful… I’m doing great but my body is —- right now. I’m sore,’ Tyson said in Harlem, New York on May 13.

Here Mail Sport takes a look at Tyson’s medical history with just seven weeks until he meets Paul in Texas.

    Mike Tyson’s health issues

Years spent in the ring combined with drug problems and a never say-die attitude during his career has seen Tyson’s health deteriorate over the years.

The American himself admitted on his own Hotboxin’ podcast that he believes he does not have that long left to live.

‘We’re all gonna die one day of course. Then, when I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face,’ he said.

‘I say, Wow. That means my expiration date is coming close, really soon.’

    Back problems

Tyson admitted in September 2022 that he suffered with sciatica.

Sciatica is a medical condition where the nerve which runs from your lower back to your feet is irritated or compressed.

Tyson felt obliged to share his medical condition when a photo was shared on social media which saw him wheelchair bound in August 2022.

Speaking at the time, Tyson said: ‘I have sciatica every now and then, it flares up. When it flares up, I can’t even talk! Thank God it’s the only health problem I have. I’m splendid now.’

That was not the first time ‘Iron Mike’ has suffered from health problems related to his back.

Back pain was actually what initially forced him to walk away from boxing in 2005 after enjoying a 20-year-long career.

In 2002, after losing to Lennox Lewis, Tyson shouted out ‘I broke my back, my back is broken, Spinal!’.

He clarified what he meant at that moment back in 2020, telling Compubox TV: ‘Well listen right, I have a bad back and since all of the work that I’ve put over the years, the spine in my back just starts shifting.’

His wife, Lakiha Spicer, later revealed that he had two vertebrae removed from his body and titanium rods inserted to battle the problem.

    Depression and personality disorder

In 1998, the Dynamite Kid was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and it was also revealed that the boxing legend has suffered with depression.

His 1998 diagnosis read as the following: ‘His personal history is marked by significant psychological and physical trauma, as well as a belief that he has been betrayed by individuals close to him.

‘This has caused Mr. Tyson to have significant problems with trust, as he fears being betrayed. In addition, he struggles with low self-esteem.’

Tyson’s first wife Robin Givens also stated that the boxer was a ‘manic depressive’ during a 1988 interview with Barbara Walters.

    Drug addiction

Since retiring, ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ hasn’t been shy about talking about his past drug usage.

Tyson detailed that his drug use mainly centred around cocaine but he had experimented with other forms of drugs, including venom from a poisonous toad which he said left him legally dead for a moment.

‘In my trips I’ve seen that death is beautiful,’ Tyson told the New York Post. ‘Life and death both have to be beautiful, but death has a bad rep. The toad has taught me that I’m not going to be here forever. There’s an expiration date.

‘I did it as a dare,’ Tyson said of ingesting the psychedelic. ‘I was doing heavy drugs like cocaine, so why not? It’s another dimension. Before I did the toad, I was a wreck. The toughest opponent I ever faced was myself. I had low self-esteem. People with big egos often have low self-esteem. We use our ego to subsidize that. The toad strips the ego.’

    Brain trauma concerns

Although Tyson has never revealed or stated that he has suffered from brain trauma, doctors are concerned that is time in the ring has left him with lasting damage.

Speaking to express.co.uk Nathan Howarth, development and operations director at Concussion Legacy Foundation UK, revealed that he is concerned for Tyson due to the repeated head trauma he suffered during his illustrious career.

According to Howarth, prolonged exposure to head impacts heightens the risk of conditions like chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Doctors are worried as prolonged exposure to head impacts heightens the risk of conditions like chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)

‘We know your exposure to head impacts increases your risk of things like chronic traumatic encephalopathy. ‘There’s no definitive idea of what the risks would be but as someone who is 57, there’s clearly going to be a risk in terms of that age profile of potentially having more of an impact for someone who’s older.’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have to scale back on their lavish lifestyle.

After King Charles III decided to take away their last remaining U.K. residence and cut the Duke and Duchess of Sussex off from the royal family payroll, insiders told Radar Harry and Meghan fear they could struggle to keep up with their outlandish spending habits.

“They never imagined they would be totally cut off,” a source close to the married couple spilled, adding they have been “bleeding money” since their move to the U.S.

“When Harry was a royal, he’d go on huge shopping sprees, glamorous vacations, and buy everyone drinks and dinner at expensive London restaurants,” the insider claimed. “Charles funded everything, so Harry didn’t have to think about money.”

According to the outlet, Harry and Meghan reportedly took out a $10 million mortgage on their $14.6 million six-bedroom Montecito estate, which has required a pretty penny to keep up. “Then there are the staffing and security bills,” the source explained.

The financial anxiety has not been for lack of trying. The parents-of-two signed multiyear deals with Netflix and Spotify, which rang in at a reported $100 million and $25 million, respectively. Most infamously, Harry reportedly signed a $35 million four-book deal with Penguin Random House, which launched his New York Times bestseller, Spare. However, people close to the power couple fear the profits “may not be enough to carry” their lifestyle.

The former Suits actress also recently cameoed in an Instagram ad for the coffee brand Clevr Blend, which she alleged she invested in back in 2020.

“Meghan wants to support women entrepreneurs like herself,” the insider explained of the move, adding, “but don’t think she’s doing it for nothing.”

Queen Camilla posed a hidden show of support to the Princess of Wales last week at the Chelsea Flower Show in London.

During her appearance on May 20, Camilla opted for a bouquet of camellias to give to the delighted pupils at Sulivan Primary School.

The school, which is based in Fulham, had contributed to the design of a garden inspired by Penelope Featherington from Netflix’s Bridgerton.

Speaking about Camilla’s choice of flower, Elise Harlock – who is the brand manager at Prestige Flowers – said: “Camellias traditionally symbolise admiration, affection, and gratitude.

“By selecting camellias, Queen Camilla likely aimed to express profound appreciation for the children’s creativity and dedication.”

Speaking how her choice could link to King Charles and the Princess of Wales – who were both diagnosed with cancer earlier this year – she added: “In the language of flowers, camellias can symbolise resilience and strength.

“This choice may reflect a message of solidarity and support for her husband and daughter-in-law during their challenging journeys.”

Further explaining, Ms Harlock added: “Queen Camilla’s gesture with the camellias, coupled with her candid interactions and admissions, painted a portrait of a royal family navigating personal hardships with grace and compassion.

“The choice of camellias was a poignant way to convey gratitude, strength and unity during trying times.”

The flower expert also described the Queen’s gesture as a “meaningful exchange”.

Expanding, she said: “It signifies recognition and respect for the children’s efforts, indicating that their contribution has elevated the garden to a level deserving of royal acknowledgement.

Until recently, Camilla has been representing the royals single-handedly at events due to the two major health issues in the family.

Back in February, it was revealed that King Charles had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer.

Just a few weeks later, news of the Princess of Wales’s own cancer diagnosis was revealed.

The King, however, was medically given the all-clear to resume public-facing royal duties last month – and has appeared at a few since the end of April.

Princess Kate is believed to be making the most out of current weather in the UK as Prince William continues royal duties.

Speaking to OK! magazine, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond gave a positive health update on the Princess of Wales following the prince’s latest overnight trip to Cornwall.

She explained Kate would be leaning on her parents while William fulfils his duty to crown due to shortage of working royals.

Jennie also noted being outdoors would help the princess get better sooner.

“I’ve no doubt that Catherine‘s parents will be staying with her, but even so it must be a step in the right direction,” she explained to the outlet.

“Hopefully Catherine is feeling stronger every day and, with the sun now shining, she’ll be able to enjoy the great outdoors which, for her, has always been restorative.”

During his visit last week, the future King of England gave an update on his wife’s health, saying: “She’s doing well, thanks.”

For the unversed, Kate has been out of the public eye since the beginning of this year when she underwent abdominal surgery.

The mom of three later made a video appearance to unveil diagnosis with an undisclosed form of cancer in March.

SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT From Palace About Catherine As William Makes Big Decision Amid Chemo Treatment

With Prince William resuming his public engagements after a hiatus to support his wife and care for their children, the spotlight now turns to Catherine, who continues to work diligently despite her health concerns.

As the princess focuses on her recovery, her determination to fulfill her duties serves as a testament to her resilience and dedication to making a difference in the lives of others.

But questions linger: how will Catherine’s treatment impact their royal duties? Will William take on a larger public role? How are they shielding their children from the harsh realities of the situation?

Royal enthusiasts worldwide rejoice as the palace makes a surprise announcement regarding Princess Catherine’s upcoming engagement, sparking anticipation and excitement among fans. The celebrity psychic Elizabeth April provided her predictions on what’s to come with the princess when she returns to her royal duties. In her video message, the Princess of Wales asked for privacy as she continues her treatment and talks about returning when she is well enough.

When asked whether the Princess of Wales will pull back a bit and try to be more private when she returns to royal duties, April predicted that Catherine will want to step back from the spotlight, especially after how intense the media has been. “The public’s curiosity about her well-being and future involvement is at an all-time high, yet no one wants to overstep, especially given how tough a cancer diagnosis can be. I predict the princess will be seeking more privacy, and I feel the media will honor her wishes for space.”

The outpouring of support and well wishes for Catherine from fans across the globe underscores the deep admiration and affection that people hold for her. As Catherine prepares to step back into the spotlight, there’s no doubt that she will be greeted with open arms by adoring fans and well-wishers. Princess Catherine is expected to extend her break from public commitments amid her battle with the illness. According to reports, she will likely remain away from public obligations for a specific amount of time. The Evening Standard reported that Catherine may gradually return to events when she feels ready to do so. The royal family’s dedication to their duties, even amid personal health challenges, underscores their commitment to serving their community.

Since marrying Prince William, Catherine has been a vocal advocate for early childhood development, spearheading initiatives like the Shaping Us campaign and establishing the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in 2021. The royal mum of three later launched the Shaping Us campaign in 2023 to increase public understanding of the importance of the first five years of a child’s life. The Princess of Wales needed to focus on that more than ever given his wife’s health, which she has not elaborated on in terms of cancer type, presents the most significant challenge among several hurdles William has faced this year.

With the king and many other members of the royal family having experienced turmoil over the past many years, especially since the passing of their mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022, they are committed to honoring her legacy while also subtly modernizing the royal family’s approach. Much like a role model, Catherine’s approach has been described as both natural and respectful. From the early days of their relationship, Catherine has shown remarkable discretion and composure, which has only deepened over the last two decades since she first started dating Prince William. Her ability to consistently support the royal family’s objectives and avoid missteps despite the challenges she faces reaffirms her role as a beloved member of the royal family.

At this point, the episodes have made the first few months of 2024 some of the most difficult of Prince William’s life as he balances being an emotional support for his wife and children while continuing his leadership role in the monarchy. A royal insider remarked, “Whether you’re a prince or a pauper, no one would ever expect anything like this with a father and his wife both being treated for cancer. William is digging deep.”
