A royal expert claims Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s showbiz dreams are “falling apart” one year after the couple’s hit programme.

The couple’s Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan was the streaming giant’s most-viewed factual series of 2023. But with one year left on their Netflix deal, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliam says they face a “ticking timebomb”.

The remarks come a week after the Golden Globes in which host Jo Koy said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were “being paid millions by Netflix for doing nothing”.

The Mirror reports Netflix told the couple to produce more content of real interest in order to be paid the remainder of their £40million contract.

And according to Richard, things are looking bleak for the Sussexes unless they buckle down before the contract between Archewell, their production company, and the streaming service ends. Whilst speaking about the couple to The Sun, he claims public interest in the couple will wane as they have produced “nothing” after the Netflix series.

He told the publication: “If you simply trash your family, which is the only time it does seem to mean that you get megabucks, and do nothing else, then you must expect people not to take you seriously.”

And with the Netflix contract expiring in 2025, Richard says: “If they lost that, they really would be losers in every sense.”

Richard says royal watchers have yet to see if Harry and Meghan have the capacity to create anything of real value. Despite the attention the documentary about the couple drew, it failed to rank in the top 200 shows on Netflix from January to June. Harry’s series Heart of Invictus, released months later, failed to make top 10 lists in the UK and US.

The couple also split from Spotify last year, ending their previously agreed £18 million contract with the platform. In 2021, Meghan’s animated series Pearl was quietly dropped by Netflix.

Princess Lilibet is celebrating her third birthday today and she’s been given a special gift from King Charles, according to a royal expert.

The youngster was treated to a big birthday bash at her home in Montecito, California, over the weekend as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle invited their close friends to celebrate. However, members of the Royal Family were left off the guestlist amid their bitter feud. The snub didn’t stop Charles from marking the occasion, however, as he’s believed to have sent a special message to his granddaughter. Royal expert Tom Quinn told The Mirror : “King Charles had no intention of completely ignoring Lilibet’s birthday so he has sent a gift along with a message.”

However, the monarch is saving a special gift for when the royal feud ends. Quinn said: “He gave Prince George a beautiful hand-made wooden swing with George’s name carved on it and he has plans to give something similar to Lilibet but not this year. And not unless and until the family feud dies down.”

Tom said: “Rather than go for a low-key celebration Harry and Meghan have spent the past weekend enjoying a pre-birthday bash for their daughter Lillibet’s third birthday – hugely expensive presents have been ruled out but the couple’s mansion in California was awash with celebrities including Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom and their daughter Daisy who is just a few months older than Lilibet.” Katy and Orlando are neighbours of Harry and Meghan. Ellen DeGeneres, Gwyneth Paltrow and Oprah Winfrey also live close by to the Sussexes mansion.

Harry and Meghan are believed to have left the Royal Family off the invite list for Lilibet’s party. Tom told us: “Shockingly no invitations to Lilibet’s party were issued to members of the Royal Family. “One of Harry’s old army friends said: ‘Harry knew they wouldn’t come anyway and he was pretty sure he would not have wanted them there. But he is really sad that Archie and Lilibet cannot have any kind of relationship with their cousins while his feud with his family continues’.”

Lilibet has only reunited with the Royal Family for one of her birthdays. The youngster was brought to the UK for the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, with the event coinciding with her first birthday. Her family held an intimate backyard picnic at Frogmore Cottage to celebrate.

Princess Lilibet turned three on Tuesday (June 4) but there was no public acknowledgement by the Royal Family.

As Lilibet, who is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘s youngest child, celebrated her birthday, fans eagerly watched on to see if any members of the Firm would send well-wishes, but none came.

The apparent snub comes as the Sussexes continue to have a strained relationship with the Royal Family following their decision to step back from working duties in 2020 and the subsequent public outbursts that followed.

Lilibet has only made one trip to the UK to see family members from her dad’s side. That appearance came when the tot was brought over for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. During the trip, the Queen got to meet her 11th great-grandchild and namesake for the first time.

However, despite claims King Charles is “desperate” to have a relationship with his youngest son’s kids, no public message occurred – the same blank that happened when Harry’s son Archie turned five last month.

Lilibet is thought to have celebrated her birthday at the weekend with an intimate gathering at her family’s Montecito home. According to People, Meghan and Harry’s close friends and non-royal family members were in attendance, as too were some of Lilibet’s friends.

Lilibet was born in California in June 2021. She was named after her late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.

At the time of her birth, it was claimed by sources close to the Sussexes that the late monarch was introduced to her great-grandchild via video call. A source had told People magazine: “They were very excited and couldn’t wait to share that their daughter arrived.”

However, Palace insiders quickly said no such call took place, The Mail on Sunday reported at the time.

The source said: “No video call has taken place. Friends of the Sussexes appear to have given misleading briefings to journalists about what the Queen had said and that took the whole thing over the edge.”

Reports have suggested that King Charles is ramping up the pressure on disgraced Prince Andrew to leave his Windsor home Royal Lodge for a smaller property in the latest move in the long-running saga

It appears battle lines have been drawn once again between Prince Andrew and King Charles over the Duke of York’s crumbling home, Royal Lodge.

The King has reportedly turned up the heat on his younger brother to leave his 30-room Windsor mansion in favour of the smaller Frogmore Cottage, once the UK home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The disgraced Duke of York was seen looking tense while out on a horse ride near his Windsor home earlier today. It’s the first time he’s broken cover since the King allegedly ramped up the pressure in the estate row.

The Duke of York, 64, is understood to have a long lease on the Royal Lodge. But the King is ultimately responsible for all of the royal household’s finances, and so could choose to restrict funds from him – meaning he could soon struggle to meet the extortionate annual upkeep costs of the Grade II-listed property. King Charles also currently funds Andrew’s security bill, which costs £3million a year – and it seems the long-running battle shows no signs of stopping…

Long lease

Since 2004, Andrew has lived at Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, which he now shares with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. Royal Lodge dates back to the mid-17th Century but it wasn’t until the mid-1930s that it got its first royal residents. In 1931, it was gifted to George VI and the Queen Mother – the then Duke and Duchess of York – as a weekend retreat.

The Queen Mother made several additions to the property and it also features a mini cottage or Wendy house called Y Bwthyn Bach, which was gifted to the late Queen – then Princess Elizabeth – in 1932. Even after the King died in 1952, it was still used as a grace and favour home by the Queen Mother up until she died there in March 2002, with the late Queen by her side.

Following the Queen Mother’s death, Royal Lodge was leased to Prince Andrew. Along with the main house, the lease included the Gardener’s Cottage, the Chapel Lodge, six Lodge Cottages, police security accommodation and a whopping 40 hectares of land. He was required to pay for any renovations himself, which reportedly were in the region of £7.5million. In 2004, he then moved into Royal Lodge with his two daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie and soon after so did his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson after signing a 75-year lease.

Fall from grace

In recent years, Andrew has seen a huge fall from grace following his association with the convicted paedophile, Jeffry Epstein. In 2019, Andrew was forced to step down from public life following a car crash interview on BBC Newsnight. Then in 2022, he was left shell-shocked after being stripped by the late Queen of all his military titles and royal patronages and was not allowed to use the title of His Royal Highness in any official capacity. A year later, reports began to circulate that Charles was keen for his brother to move out and move into Frogmore Cottage, which has been recently renovated. There were claims Andrew could not meet the £400,000-a-year upkeep of the property – but he refused to budge.

Stay of execution

However, earlier this year, it was suggested that Andrew had been given a stay of execution at the property following his ex-wife Fergie’s cancer diagnosis. Fergie, who lives at Royal Lodge with Andrew, revealed last year she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and early this year, she also told of how she had been given a skin cancer diagnosis. And it was said the King was mindful of this. The couple also share the house with their five Norfolk Terriers and the late Queen’s two corgis Sandy and Muick.

‘Crumbling’ home

Earlier this month, pictures emerged of Royal Lodge appearing to be crumbling and desperately in need of repair. The pictures showed what seems to be worsening cracks in brickwork, as well as paint peeling from an exterior building. And newer photos from this month also capture Royal Lodge’s tired and crumbling walls. Moss is seen on the structure and the paint is peeling away. Scaffolding has been seen at the front of the property, where a skip full of rubble was also spotted.

Piling on the pressure

Now, it has been reported that the King has reignited his pressure on his younger brother over the property and has allegedly warned him of serious consequences if he continues to stay put. Andrew’s persistent refusal to take up the new property after previous requests is reported to have frustrated Charles.

A royal source told The Times : “The King’s kindness is not without limit and there is a very good option for Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage, recently vacated by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which also has the benefit of being within the Windsor Castle security cordon hence reducing the need for alternative round-the-clock security for Royal Lodge.” The source added that Andrew is “taking longer than desirable” to “recognise the reality of the situation”.

But Andrew so far shows no sign of budging. One acquaintance of the Duke of York told the newspaper that he is likely to “dig in” if the stand-off continues and that he had already enjoyed a “stay of execution” in light of Sarah Ferguson and the King’s own recent illnesses.

William and Kate benefit?

According to The Times, those in royal circles believe Fergie could help her ex-husband “see sense” and give up his royal home for a smaller property. So what would happen to the estate if he were to leave?

The lease could be sold back to the Crown Estate, who could then rent it out to a private tenant. However, there has been speculation it could become the new home of the Prince and Princess of Wales. William, Kate and their three children currently live in Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, which is smaller than Royal Lodge. However, this rumour has been played down by respected royal historian Robert Hardman.

The author of Charles III: The Inside Story, spoke to an official who said the move from Adelaide Cottage to Royal Lodge “might happen but it’s not planned.” According to his book, William and Kate are said to be “extremely happy” in their four-bed cottage. “They are there as a family with total privacy and without lots of staff,” one official told the author.

Princess Lilibet is said to have celebrated her first birthday in the UK, with the Prince and Princess of Wales not joining celebrations for their niece.

Meghan Markle’s friend brutally mocked Kate, Princess of Wales for missing Princess Lilibet’s first birthday.

Lilibet, who is thought to have only visited the UK once, is celebrating her third birthday today, June 4.

However, in celebration of her first birthday two years ago, a friend of Meghan’s previously said that it was “shady” of Kate to miss out on her niece’s special day.

Garcelle Beauvais, a star on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, previously shared her thoughts on Kate’s absence from Lilibet’s birthday.

Speaking to E!, Ms Beauvais said: “What’s going on is, ‘What a coincidence, we’re out of town, I’m washing my hair’. There’s a little shade there.”

The criticism came after both William and Kate missed the celebrations, even though the pair were overseeing concert rehearsals at Cardiff Castle to mark the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at the time.

The actress, after being asked if they could have been powerless to work against the pre-ordained schedule, hit back: “No. They can’t hold back the flight a couple of hours to meet Lilibet and Archie?”

Lilibet is thought to have travelled to the UK a few days before her first birthday for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Harry and Meghan made the decision to bring along their two children – including now-five-year-old son Archie – to join in the celebrations.

Although Meghan and Harry were seen at a few celebrations to mark the late Queen’s historic anniversary, Archie and Lilibet didn’t make any public appearances.

To mark their daughter’s birthday, Meghan and Harry are thought to have hosted a small gathering at their former UK base, Frogmore Cottage.

Kate and William’s three children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 – also didn’t appear at their cousin’s party. King Charles and Queen Camilla also did not attend Lilibet’s first birthday celebrations.

Following Lilibet’s birthday, a picture of the adorable tot was publicly released – one that was thought to have been taken at her party in the UK.

According to PEOPLE!, Meghan and Harry hosted a party at their Californian mansion over the weekend to mark Lilibet’s third birthday.

The guest list featured a number of family members and some of Lilibet’s little friends.

Marking the young royal’s birthday, none of the royals were seemingly in attendance.

Prince Harry has become “dependent” on Meghan Markle after moving away from his family and friends, according to one royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex uprooted their lives and moved across the pond after stepping down from the Royal Family three years ago. They currently live in Montecito, California, with their two children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

After moving away from the UK, royal author Phil Dampier believes Harry has left behind his friends. The expert believes the Duke of Sussex now relies on his wife for a lot of his social experiences.

Phil said there has been “a massive cost for Harry” in moving to California. Speaking to Fabulous magazine, he said: “Not only has he lost his family, his royal status and military connections, but he’s also lost a lot of friends.

“I get the impression he hasn’t got a circle of drinking buddies he can unwind within Montecito, which has a population of older people, and I’m sure that takes its toll.” Phil said he believes that Harry “is dependent on Meghan for his social life”.

Despite these comments, Harry did recently enjoy a trip away from Meghan. Just two weeks ago, he was seen smiling and waving at fans as he visited a race track in Austin, Texas.

The Duke of Sussex met the Mercedes team and looked very relaxed during his solo trip. Behind the scenes, Harry seemed animated as he chatted to the team and listened carefully to everything they had to say.

Harry reunited with Meghan for Halloween as they celebrated the spooky season with Archie and Lilibet. The family-of-four were seen out and about in Montecito with a host of other young families as they went trick-or-treating.

Archie held his dad’s hand, with a pumpkin basket in the other, ready to collect sweets. Archie appeared to be dressed as a skeleton while Lilibet, who was carried by Meghan, was dressed in a billowing pink costume.

Kate Middleton’s uncle is said to be putting the finishing touches on a tell-all memoir that could spill new secrets about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Gary Goldsmith, the younger brother of Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, is hoping to “set the record straight” with his new book, reports OK Magazine. As well as detailing “private family details”, it is claimed Gary is aiming to give the Middleton family “a voice” following bombshell accusations by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. A number of claims were made about Prince William and Kate in the couple’s six-part Netflix series as well as in Harry’s book Spare.

Harry, 39, claimed William had leaked stories about him to the media, and said he’d shouted at him when he told him about his and Meghan’s decision to step back as senior royals. Harry also said that some men in his family had married “someone who would fit the mould as opposed to somebody who you are perhaps destined to be with”, comments which many interpreted as a swipe at William and Kate’s relationship.

Giving the background for Gary’s new book, the source said the publisher of Harry’s memoir had been confident that Prince William wouldn’t respond to any of Harry’s allegations, as it would not be appropriate for a “future King” to do so. But they said the California-based royal “wouldn’t have anticipated such a comeback from Kate’s family”, and believes the couple now will be “dreading the book’s release”.

Gary, 58, first spoke of plans to write a memoir back in 2013, having made a £30 million fortune from his IT recruitment business. Though he has previously vowed not to get involved with any matters involving his niece or her husband, his recent comments critical of Meghan and Harry have “gone down well with some people” and made him reconsider his position, according to the source. The unnamed source told New magazine: “He did originally plan to focus the book on himself and his journey to becoming a millionaire, but he will now add in some private family details.”

It is also claimed that Kate and mum Carole will look over Gary’s manuscript before it gets passed on to the publisher, and he is still “very close” to them. The source added: “He won’t want to do anything that will embarrass them, but it could be a good way of putting a Middleton voice out there to set the record straight over some of the things Harry wrote about in Spare.” Gary Goldsmith was also rumoured for the new series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity, but show bosses are said to have thought the idea to be too risky.

Harry and Meghan warned by police that their £11.8m mansion is a target for thieves

The Sussexes have been issued a security warning by local police following a series of recent break ins close to their Montecito home where the couple live with their two kids.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been issued a warning from police that their £11.8m mansion is a potential target for thieves after one of their neighbours was recently burgled.

Following a series of break ins within the area, one of which was just five minutes away from the Sussexes’ lavish home in Montecito California, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office issued a statement as they warned that criminals are going for unoccupied properties.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff officer Rachel Zick said: “In the past week, deputies have taken several burglary reports with notable similarities in the resident layouts, times of occurrence and items taken.

“In these burglaries, criminals target unoccupied residences that back up to open spaces such as golf courses as well as creeks, streams or the ocean.”

This will undoubtedly spark concern for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as their home might have been empty during one of the burglaries as the couple recently jetted off to Jamaica to attend the film premiere of Bob Marley: One Love, OK! reports.

Rachel added: “Investigators have noted most of these crimes tend to occur between the hours of 6pm and 10pm.

“The most recent burglaries occurred on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in the 1500-block of Las Tunas in Montecito, and two in the 800- block of Sand Point Lane, Carpinteria. The suspect(s) in these cases are targeting safes.”

This is not the first time that Harry and Meghan have been alerted about potential thieves as it was revealed back in July 2022 that their mansion had six break-in alerts within the first 14 months of their move to the US.

Two of these were intruder scares with police rushing to respond as both calls were logged as “trespasser”, “property crimes” and “suspicious circumstances”.

The former royal couple who live in their Montecito mansion with their two young kids have spent a hefty sum on security to ensure their family’s safety.

It’s been reported that the bill for their security equates to $2million (£1.5million).

A source told Page Six that the Sussexes forked out this amount after the Royal Family took their bodyguards away.

The couple are said to currently employ Barack Obama’s security guard Christopher Sanchez.

Harry and Meghan’s recent surprise trip to Jamaica has not only caused concern regarding the security of their home but also led to reports they were being ‘calculated’ towards King Charles as they rubbed shoulders with individuals who have announced they are publicly against the monarch.

They were reportedly seen chatting with the Caribbean isle’s minister for legal and constitutional affairs on the red carpet.

Marlene Malahoo Forte is reported to have previously vowed to “sever ties” with the British monarchy and said that the “time is now”.

The duke and duchess also posed for pictures with Prime Minister Holness and his wife Juliet.

Mr. Holness had previously took Prince William and Kate Middleton by surprise during their Caribbean tour when he revealed his future plans for his nation to “move on” from the British monarchy.

Prince William recently said that Princess Kate is “doing well” as she continues her preventative cancer treatment.

The Princess of Wales could make a surprise return to public life with an appearance at Trooping the Colour on June 15, an expert has claimed.

Kate has been out of royal action since December as she took time off for major abdominal surgery and then her cancer diagnosis.

She is still undergoing treatment, but royal historian Dr Tessa Dunlop believes Kate may surprise everyone by stepping out on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the event.

The expert told The Mirror: “Whether [Kate] will make a balcony appearance on the big day on June 15 remains the great unknown.

“My hunch is she will give us a wave, but if she doesn’t (entirely her prerogative) questions about Harry and Meghan are bound to surface.

“These are futile, even in 2022 the Sussexes were out of the picture, glimpsed briefly at a window and not invited on the balcony.”

With Kate and King Charles both recovering from their cancer diagnoses, many fear that there could be a thin cast of royals on the day.

Kensington Palace has confirmed that Kate won’t participate in the final dress rehearsal for the King’s birthday celebrations on June 8, but are yet to give any information on whether she will make the main event a week later.

Dr Dunlop suggested that non-working royals such as Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice could help fill the gaps.

She added: “This year that balcony cast will have even slimmer pickings if the Princess of Wales stays away.

“In which case might it be time to review the role of non-working royals? All those cousins Eugenie, Beatrice, and Zara who have long behaved with hallmark loyalty would surely relish the prospect of standing shoulder to shoulder with their King. After all, isn’t that what families are for?”

In May, Prince William provided an update on Kate’s recovery, saying she is “doing well” while on a visit to St Mary’s Community Hospital in Hugh Town.

William spoke to Tracy Smith, administrator at the hospital.

She said after the meeting: “I asked William about his wife Kate and he said, ‘she’s doing well, thanks,’ and I suggested they might like to come for a visit and bring the children.”

William told her: “The children are very jealous that I am here… Maybe we might come later in the year.”

A new tell-all book threatens to make shocking revelations about Meghan Markle from her ex-husband. Trevor Engelson started dating the Suits actress in 2004 before getting married in 2011.

But the marriage only lasted 18 months and the couple were granted a no-fault divorce in 2013 citing irreconcilable differences. Mr Engelson, who has since remarried, is a film producer and literary manager, reports The Star.

A new biography of the Duchess of Sussex from Tom Bower promises fresh interviews with Mr Engelson, which the writer teased during an interview with Closer magazine. A previous book Mr Mr Engelson claimed Meghan made him feel like “a piece of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe” by the end of their marriage.

Mr Bower said “Similarly, she cut off her ex-husband when her career started taking off. She seems to me to be a very ambitious, unforgiving person.”
