QUEEN Camilla has issued an update on King Charles’ health as she urges him to “slow down”.

The Queen, 76, revealed His Majesty is “doing fine except he won’t slow down and won’t do what he’s told”.

The Queen was speaking with author Lee Child at the time during the second annual Queen’s Reading Room Literary Festival at Hampton Court Palace in Surrey.

The Jack Reacher writer, 69, added that it “sounds to me like a typical husband”.

Camilla was also met by the chairman of Historic Royal Palaces, Sir Nicholas Coleridge, as well as Vicky Perrin, chief executive of the Queen’s Reading Room, and authors including Harlan Coben.

Author Sir Ian Rankin also said the Queen told him that “her whole family were fans of my books”.

It comes after the brave King led D-Day commemorations – despite being in hospital for cancer treatment less than 24 hours earlier.

The Sun revealed how the Monarch, 75, was in a London hospital on Tuesday but was determined to join veterans the next day and “lead from the front”.

He made his way to Portsmouth on Wednesday morning and delivered an emotional eight-minute address that evoked tears from listeners.

His appearance was reduced by 45 minutes, on medical advice.

But, Charles still found the time to speak to and honour 21 D-Day heroes invited to the televised event.

The “carefully calibrated” arrangements meant the King was then able to travel on 125 miles to Normandy for 80th anniversary ceremonies.

There — aided again by Camilla — he gave a heartfelt speech at the British Normandy Memorial where the names of 22,442 heroes who died are etched.

And His Majesty still has a full schedule ahead.

He is set to attend the King’s Foundation Awards at St James’s Palace, London, next Tuesday.

Charles and Camilla are also due to take part in a series of other functions and engagements in the weeks ahead, including a garden party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, during so-called Scotland week.

This year it falls in General Election week, so the King must be back on Friday, July 5, to officially ask whoever wins to form a new government.

It comes after His Majesty bravely opened up about his diagnosis in February this year after the disease was spotted during a his prostate operation.

In April Buckingham Palace announced the King’s official return to work and outlined his expected summer schedule.

Speaking of his health, the statement confirmed the King’s medical team are “very encouraged” by progress made so far and remain “positive” about his recovery.

They also explained how Charles’ schedule will be carefully calibrated to meet his recovery needs and he will be in close consultation with his medical team.

Despite ongoing treatment, the ‘workaholic’ King is still set to attend the Trooping the Colour birthday parade in London on June 15.

This is due to be followed by an appearance at Royal Ascot on June 18, and a State visit from the Emperor and Empress of Japan at the end of the month.

And, a two or three week tour of Australia could be on the cards for the busy King in October.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘stark reminder’ after new blow to royal peace hopes

A leading publicist has claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest snub will be a “stark reminder” of their current relationship with the Royal Family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been given a “stark reminder” after it was revealed they haven’t been invited to this year’s Trooping the Colour, according to a leading publicist.

Earlier this week, it was revealed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been left off the guest list for the annual event -marking the second consecutive year they’ve been snubbed.

Michael Levine explained what this latest snub means for Harry and Meghan’s relationship with senior members of the Royal Family.

He told The Mirror: “This continued exclusion of Meghan and Harry from Trooping the Colour is a poignant reflection of their ongoing estrangement from the core of the British monarchy.

“Their absence for the second year running underscores the deep rifts that persist despite the pageantry and tradition that define the Royal Family. It’s a stark reminder that personal conflicts can ripple through the public spectacle even in the most revered institutions.”

The last time Harry and Meghan were seen at the Trooping the Colour was five years ago in 2019, the year before they moved to the USA.

The latest snub comes after Harry was absent from the wedding of his friend the Duke of Westminster to Olivia Henson in Chester earlier today, where his brother Prince William acted as an usher.

Earlier this year, sources revealed the Duke of Westminster and Duke of Sussex had reached a “mutual agreement” over his attendance and recognised it would be “difficult” for him to be at the ceremony.

Speaking to the Express about Harry’s absence from the ceremony, Richard Fitzwilliams said: “Harry’s non-appearance [on Friday] at the wedding of the year [was] inevitable. It should be noted that he and Meghan don’t attend anything comparable in California.

“He would surely not be human if he did not feel genuine regret as his friendship with Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster reportedly endures, and so many of his friends in his former life were there.”

The royal expert added: “With William being an usher, it is a sad sign of the rift between the brothers that he felt he could not be present.

“After the extraordinary briefings when he was last in Britain for the Invictus Service at St Paul’s Cathedral, as to whether his father was too busy to see him and if there was enough security at a royal palace which he was reportedly offered, it is clear that the rift in the Royal Family could not be wider.”

Earlier this year, the Duke of Sussex visited London to attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, a sporting competition he co-founded in 2014.

While Harry appeared in good spirits as he attended the service, a body language expert said his demeanour shifted as he made his way up to the church.

Speaking to Daily Express US, Judi James said there were some signs that suggested less positive emotions.

She explained: “His grin and his pace and energy of movement looked like signature Harry from his cheekier and even jauntier days and he even held his hand out in what looked like a steering gesture to motion the clergyman into his own church.

“But there were also some subtler body language signs of possible wariness and inner anxiety.

“Like his father’s cuff-fiddling and his brother’s hand-to-waist rituals, Harry’s self-comfort ‘tell’ is the holding of the jacket button to form a partial barrier with one arm, which he was doing here.”

Meghan Markle’s secret plot to become ‘bigger and better’ than the Royal Family revealed

The Sussexes are “unfazed” by anger from the Palace over their recent royal-style Nigeria tour, and Meghan is eyeing up a slew of further high-profile visits, an insider claims.

Meghan Markle is “unfazed” by pushback over her recent Nigeria tour with Prince Harry and is “drawing up a new plan of attack” for further overseas trips, a source claims.

The Sussexes visited the country last month at the invitation of the country’s Chief of Defence, taking part in cultural activities and meeting with service members.

Insiders claimed King Charles was “angrier than anyone has ever seen him” over the royal-style visit, but a source has told Closer the Duchess of Sussex is orchestrating a plan that will see them established in further Commonwealth nations.

“Meghan and Harry aren’t surprised that the royals have found fault with their tour of Nigeria, they’re disappointed for sure, but not surprised,” the insider told the outlet.

“And they’re certainly not going to let their negativity stop them from arranging more tours.

Meghan speaking at the SXSW festival earlier this year

“As far as they’re concerned, things in Nigeria couldn’t have gone better and it’s really got them excited about all the possibilities.

“Meghan’s now drawing up a new plan of attack, basically a blueprint of how to put together more tours in the most streamlined and effective way possible.”

They added that the duchess has “tasked members of her team with submitting ideas on the best places to visit, who they need to reach out to as far as dignitaries and charities as well as what media to recruit for the visits.”

The purported world tour plan could tie in with their Archewell Foundation, which has a mission statement to uplift and unite local and global communities.

“Their conscience is completely clear on this plan because they intend to do good wherever they go,” the source said.

According to the insider, the pair “don’t plan to limit themselves to the Commonwealth, they want to make this bigger and better than what the royals have done in the past. They’re totally unfazed by any problems this might create with the royals.”

The duke and duchess stepped down as senior royals in January 2020 and announced they would be splitting their time between the UK and North America, promising to “honour our duty to the Queen [Elizabeth II], the Commonwealth, and our patronages.”

They said at the time the “geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”

Prince William was also said to have been angered by the recent trip, but the source said Meghan is “not going to be told what she can and can’t do, especially in regards to charity.”

“Long before she met Harry she was doing humanitarian work. She worked as a UN ambassador and with World Vision Canada and visited places like Rwanda and India on official missions, so she certainly doesn’t feel she needs the approval of the Royal Family to keep that going,” they said.

“All she and Harry want to do is help people, but of course from William and Charles’s perspectives what they’re doing is way out of line.”

It’s thought that Charles and William don’t have any issue with the Sussexes charity work, but with the style of the tours. The source said the trips are “carbon copies of what the royals do,” with the perception that they’re “brazenly trading on the family name after they were specifically told not to.”

The insider says it doesn’t help that the pair “always seem to time their trips to coincide with one of the senior royal’s engagements, it’s so obvious that they’re trying to capitalise on that for publicity.”

But they noted that the Sussexes “scoff” at this accusation, adding that so far, all they’ve done is accept offers that have come their way, so to accuse them of orchestrating some publicity grab is pure paranoia.”

A rep for Harry and Meghan has been approached for comment.

  • Royal Family ‘expunge’ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with one swift move

Royal Family ‘expunge’ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with one swift move

The Royal Family have recently deleted a statement Prince Harry released in the early stages of his relationship with Meghan Markle from their website.

The Royal Family has begun the process of “expunging Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from history” with the latest update to their official website, it’s been claimed.

In November 2016, the Duke of Sussex released a strongly-worded statement against the press in which he slammed opinion pieces discussing his relationship with Meghan for their “racial undertones”.

The statement was issued by Kensington Palace just days after their romance became public knowledge.

The document remained on the Royal.co.uk website for over seven years before it was suddenly removed last week.

Royal author and expert Tom Quinn exclusively told The Mirror that the Royal Family had long desired to remove the statement and gradually erase the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from royal history.

    Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Harry and Meghan made their public debut a few months after the statement was issued. (Image: Getty)

Mr Quinn claimed: “Removing Prince Harry’s 2016 statement about Meghan from the Royal website reveals much about how the senior royals are determined to forget the past and Prince Harry’s role in it.

“The statement was an attack on the press for their portrayal of his then-girlfriend Meghan Markle, which Harry deemed deeply unfair. If Harry wrote the statement, it was heavily influenced by Meghan.”

Before his romance with Meghan, Prince Harry was considered one of the nation’s most eligible bachelors, having had high-profile relationships with Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas.

Mr Quinn opined: “Harry’s previous girlfriends had always been subject to huge press speculation and Harry knew this just went with being a royal or being the girlfriend of a royal.

“He was surprised and delighted when Meghan insisted they should fight back and they have been fighting back ever since.”

He went on to suggest that the removal of the statement by the royals indicates a larger agenda noting: “The senior royals’ plan is to gradually expunge Harry and Meghan from royal history.

“They have long wanted to remove the statement, but needed to do it during a quiet time to reduce the chances of Harry and Meghan crying foul and claiming they were yet again being punished.”

The statement from Harry was issued by Jason Knauf, the former communications secretary at Kensington Palace, following an article in The Mail on Sunday which stated: “Harry’s girl is (almost) straight outta Compton: Gang-scarred home of her mother revealed-so will he be dropping by for tea? “.

In a heartfelt statement, Prince Harry condemned the treatment of his girlfriend, Meghan Markle, saying: “The past week has seen a line crossed. His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment.

“Some of this has been very public-the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.

“Some of it has been hidden from the public – the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life.”

He continued with concern for her well-being: “Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms Markle should be subjected to such a storm.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had their sights set on another residence other than Frogmore Cottage, according to reports.

    MEGHAN MARKLE QUEEN ELIZABETH II

Meghan Markle’s wish to live in a specific residence within Windsor was reportedly met with a “firm” rejection from the late Queen Elizabeth II, who deemed it “inappropriate”.

Windsor Castle, boasting nearly 1,000 years of history as a royal residence, has seen generations of the Royal Family call it home.

Over the years, the Queen bestowed various homes on the estate to family members as gifts, including Windsor Castle’s monarchs, Prince Philip, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and Prince Andrew with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

One such residence is Frogmore Cottage, a picturesque residence gifted to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their wedding in 2018. However, the reportedly couple had their sights set on a different property.

According to OK!, Harry and Meghan expressed interest in residing within the Castle itself and inquired about the availability of living quarters post-marriage. However, the Queen reportedly “politely but firmly suggested” that Frogmore Cottage, situated nearby, would be more suitable.

    General Views Of Frogmore Cottage

Further insight into the late Queen’s decision to bestow Frogmore Cottage upon her grandson and his wife was provided by royal expert Katie Nicholl’s book, The New Royals.

Nicholl wrote about a conversation with the late Lady Elizabeth Anson, who passed away in 2020, where she revealed the Queen regarded the Windsor home as a “big deal” and hoped Harry and Meghan would “respect” her generosity.

Lady Elizabeth reportedly said: “The cottage was a big deal. The Queen’s entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage.

“It is essentially her back yard, her solitude, and her privacy. She was giving that up in gifting Harry and Meghan Frogmore Cottage. We all thought it was very big of her. She said, ‘I hope they’ll respect it.’”

Before settling on Frogmore, several other homes in Windsor were considered as potential residences for the couple, including Adelaide Cottage, now occupied by The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Adelaide Cottage, nestled within the private 655-acre royal grounds, served as a retreat for Queen Adelaide, wife of William IV. Its rich history includes being a beloved residence of Queen Victoria.

Renovated in 2015, Adelaide Cottage boasts intricate decorations, including a master bedroom ceiling with gilded dolphins and rope designs. It has hosted numerous royal guests and courtiers, including Simon Rhodes, son of the late Queen’s cousin Margaret Rhodes, who received assistance from the Queen in relocating his family to the UK.

Janet Street-Porter slams Lily Allen’s dad’s account of their snooker table romp

If you struggle to sleep at night wondering if it’s true Janet Street-Porter had a fling with Lily Allen’s dad, good news – the Loose Women panelist has finally spilled the tea about what happened

Janet Street-Porter has finally set the record straight on what went down on her snooker table when Keith Allen and his “mushroom” popped round to hers after a wild night out.

For those not familiar with the intimate details of Lily Allen’s dad’s sex life, it’s long been thought that the Vindaloo hitmaker, 70, bedded journalist Janet, 77, back in the day – mainly thanks to Keith bragging about his alleged encounter with the Loose Women star in his 2007 memoir.

“I wish I had the skill to describe in detail the first time I made love to Janet Street-Porter,” Keith wrote in his autobiography, which is titled Grow Up. “Once on a snooker table and once in her bed in her home in Clerkenwell. The earth moved for me – and for Janet too.” Promoting his book at the 2007 Hay Festival, Keith joked that the “earth moved” due to Janet sleeping on a “hospital bed on wheels”.

However, Janet has a very different recollection of her night with Keith – denying she ever got down and dirty with the actor on her snooker table. Almost 20 years on from the release of Keith’s memoir, Janet recalled how he broke it to her that she was getting a mention in the tell-all book.

“I ran into him in Soho one day and he said: ‘There is a story coming out tomorrow. It’s a serialisation of my life, and I hope you don’t mind, but I put in that I slept with you on your snooker table’,” Janet explained. “I replied, ‘But that’s not true Keith’, and he continued, ‘But it looks great.’ It’s not true, and the reasons I did not have sex with Keith Allen is that firstly, snooker tables are a certain height from the ground, and Keith Allen is a very short man.”

The ITV broadcaster cheekily added to Woman’s Own magazine: “It is true that he came round to my house after a night at the Groucho Club, stripped off all his clothes and ran around my snooker room like a demented housefly, and tried to get excitable, and I thought, I’ve seen bigger mushrooms for my starter.”

So there we have it, Keith said he potted Janet on her snooker table and 17 years later, Janet revealed that the dad-of-six had been fibbing for almost two decades. Despite Keith not striking it lucky on Janet’s snooker table, the billiards table in Janet’s home did see some action before she sold it to the Groucho Club.

Speaking on Loose Women in 2017, Janet went into graphic detail about a sex injury she once sustained after getting frisky on a waterbed. Janet didn’t stop there, going on to confess that she’d also got friction burns from misusing a piece of furniture. “I once got burns from some action on my snooker table,” she added. “I was worried about marking the baize.”

Katie Piper left her fellow Loose Women co-stars stunned on Wednesday’s show as she unveiled her jaw-dropping hair transformation.

The presenter, 40, has rocked blonde locks but has ditched her signature hairstyle for a new gorgeous brunette look, revealing the makeover on Wednesday’s show. The Loose Women panel were left amazed over the new look with host Christine Lampard joking: “I thought we had a completely new panellist today, as well as Jill Scott, and it was Katie with new hair!”

Talking about her new hair, Katie continued: “It’s the new me, I always feel when you change your hair colour, you’ve got to change your makeup, your jewellery, your wardrobe. I’ve experimented with my hair quite a lot over the years.

“It is something I quite enjoy doing, I never get frightened about it, I mean, I’ve been purple, jet black, white blonde, so yeah… I’ve got different foundations in all my makeup kits depending where I’m going to go [with my hair].”

Katie also took to Instagram to show off her new hair, writing: “New hair, who dis? Ready for today’s @loosewomen”. Katie’s 1.1m followers were quick to go wild over the look. One person said: “Wow great look loving the brunette!”, a different account put: “HOW!! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO LOOK THIS INSANE BOTH BLONDE AND BRUNETTE!!!” with heart eyes, while another fan wrote: “Beautiful!” Someone else raved: “This is stunning, perfect colour on you!!!!”

It comes as Katie returned to Loose Women in December for the first time since undergoing surgery. The presenter suffered life-changing burns, injuries and blindness in one eye after being attacked with acid in 2008 when she was 24. Katie underwent pioneering surgery to restore her face and vision, but has faced many complications since.

Only recently, Katie underwent tarsorrhaphy surgery in November to her left eye, which joins parts or all of the upper and lower eyelids to completely close the eye. Katie said at the time of the procedure, which is used to help or heal the cornea: “In my case I am trying to preserve the eye, avoid perforation and loosing my eye completely.”

Katie added at the time: “Also, if this helps anyone else…. yes I do sometimes find it hard. I’m ok with looking different to everyone else but operations can sometimes take me back to memories of how this all started and that’s hard mentally.”

Appearing on Loose Women for the first time since the procedure, host Kaye Adams said: “Hello stranger! First of all, Katie, we haven’t seen you for what, five or six weeks?” Katie then explained why she had been absent, discussing her recent procedure. She said: “I had a planned procedure done called tarsorrhaphy, which is a semi-permanent closure of the eye. It’s an operation done in theatre and your eye is fully or partially stitched up.

“Some people might be familiar with it, you normally see it when somebody has disease of the cornea. Closing the eye gives it the optimum environment to heal so I’ve had quite a lot of problems with my eye over the last year and a half. I don’t like to go on about it because there’s always somebody worse off!”

Katie added: “It’s been quite painful so it’s quite a relief for me to finally have it stitched up because it’s a lot more comfortable! It’s not permanent, it’s going to be for just about a year like this then hopefully I can have it opened!”

ITV Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha rushed to hospital after noticing worrying symptom

Nadia Sawalha was forced to rush herself to hospital recently after she noticed a worrying symptom just moments before appearing on ITV’s lunchtime show Loose Women

Nadia Sawalha was rushed to hospital after spotting a worrying symptom just before going on air.

The Loose Women panellist appeared on the ITV show today but said her last time on the programme was far more dramatic as she was left “panic stricken” after something unusual happened with her eye, just before she was due on the show.

Explaining what happened, Nadia said she was told by her optician to head straight to the hospital in a really “dramatic” couple of hours after the show’s morning meeting, but she has now received a diagnosis.

Speaking on the show today, she said: “I did the morning meeting, and rang the optician and said I’ve got this, this, this and they said leave now and go straight to A&E. It was really dramatic; I was really panic stricken actually because I thought I’d just go after the show. And then Gloria came in, because I was going to have to leave the show and there’s never been three Loose Women.

“And then Gloria came on the phone, and she said she had an eye surgeon who is a good friend. Anyway, she put me on the phone with a top eye surgeon who asked me more questions. He said it was ok, you can do the show, but then you’ve got to come to A&E straight afterwards,” which she did and headed there to check everything was ok.

She has now found out what was wrong, explaining: “The long and short of it is, I’ve got an ageing eye. They’re both ageing, the jelly’s coming off the back. I’ve got a microscopic haemorrhage. I know it’s microscopic but I don’t want a haemorrhage.”

Nadia also admitted she was worried about it but she is under good care. “It is worrying. It’ll be fine, I’ve had really good care. It’s amazing, the eye stops seeing what it doesn’t want to see and that will just disappear and the smearing will hopefully go,” she said.

She wrote at the time: “The only reason I’m posting these pics is because I want to catch your eye and urge you if you have been worrying about any symptoms you’ve been experiencing to bite the bullet and get yourself seen. Delaying things will only cause more worry. I’m not going to lie I’ve been worried sick myself recently but was given the all clear on Monday! I only wish I had dealt with it earlier, so I didn’t get myself into such a pickle. Don’t delay make the call. Get seen. You know it makes sense. Big hugs, love Nads xxx.”

Prince Harry hopes to fix rift with Royal Family for the sake of Princess Diana

Prince Harry is not on good terms with King Charles or Prince William following his exit from the Royal Family in 2020.

Prince Harry has been inspired by his mother Princess Diana’s desire for “peace” to try and patch things up with the Royal Family, according to his memoir Spare.

The Prince and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals in 2020 and relocated to California, however their subsequent tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey and Netflix documentary series have worsened the feud between the two families.

In January 2023 Harry published his memoir Spare, which came under much scrutiny for his no-holds barred revelations about life in the Royal Family.

While many of the claims made by the Duke about his family were incredibly damaging, in one passage he explains how his late mother made him want to strive for peace.

He recalled: “I’d come to those gardens because I wanted peace. I wanted it more than anything. I wanted it for my family’s sake, and for my own—but also for hers.”

Harry added that Diana, who was killed in a car accident in 1997, “strove for peace”, and that she was “always working to bring peace to someone somewhere”.

He added reflectively: “I knew how desperately she would want—no, did want— peace between her boys, and between us two and Pa.”

Former royal butler Paul Burrell, who worked for Diana for many years, said that the late Princess would have been “heartbroken” about the fallout between her two sons.

Mr Burrell said on behalf of Slingo: “I saw first-hand Diana raise William and Harry and it was always Harry’s duty and his job to be a wingman for his brother.

“He always knew that William would be King and Harry would be second in charge, but something happened, and that was Meghan.

“She changed his world and turned it upside down. Diana would not be happy with the way he has deserted his post.

“He has not only deserted his post, he has deserted his family and his country.”

The former royal staffer added: “If she was still alive, none of this would be happening because she would still have her hands on the reins and she would still be steering her children.

“She would be proud of William but she would have a broken heart over Harry because she would be torn over the love for her son and the desertion of his duty.”

Prince Harry came to the UK last month to celebrate ten years of the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral, but did not meet with any senior members of the Royal Family during his visit.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘Hurt’ Ruth Langsford taking break from Loose Women as she struggles after Eamonn split

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Hurt’ Ruth Langsford taking break from Loose Women as she struggles after Eamonn split

TV star Ruth Langsford will take the month off work from Loose Women following her shock split from Eamonn Holmes after 14 years of marriage

Ruth Langsford is to take the rest of the month off from ITV ’s Loose Women but will be back on screen next month, according to pals.

The presenter has been left “hurt” by the discovery that, in the wake of their separation, her husband Eamonn Holmes is being consoled by another woman with whom he’s been on a string of outings.

Ruth is said to have known nothing of their day trips together until recently and it has been described as a key factor in their decision to call time on their relationship. She has also been left “deeply upset” over suggestions that she’s walked away from her marriage because of Eamonn’s ongoing health woes.

Friends insist there is “no way back” for their marriage, which is heading for the divorce court. Ruth, 64, will extend her time off for the rest of June but plans to return to the ITV show next month. She was last seen on screen in May

One pal said: “Ruth was hurt when she learned about Eamonn’s friendship with another woman but she is strong and she will be back soon with a smile on her face, putting her best foot forward, as she always does. She needs a bit of time to regroup after everything that’s gone on, which is understandable, but she plans to return to Loose Women, with renewed vigour, in July.”

On the prospect of a reconciliation, the friend insisted: “No chance whatsoever.” Ruth was left reeling by the discovery that Eamonn, 64, has been seeing a woman in her forties after striking up a friendship with her over the past couple of years. He is said to have taken her out to venues including a trip in February to a safari park, plus a Manchester United game and a Beyonce gig.

The GB News presenter, who had a double hip replacement in 2015 and a spinal operation in 2022, is said to have grown particularly close to the woman over the past year. They made contact via social media having been loosely connected, via a mental health charity, for some time. The woman is said to volunteer for a charity which Eamonn became involved with following the death of Ruth’s sister, Julia Johnson, who had suffered with depression.

Ruth nursed her husband of 14 years through his back surgery and subsequent broken shoulder which he sustained after falling down the stairs at their home in Surrey. “The thing that deeply upsets and frustrates her is the notion that she’s ditching him because of his ongoing health issues,” one pal said. “That is not true. She’s always been there for him. But she has struggled with the knowledge that he’s not always been honest with her.”

Last night a spokesperson for Ruth said: “Ruth had holiday time booked from Loose Women and has extended her leave. She’s looking forward to returning to the show in due course.” Earlier this week Ruth posted pictures of her trip to the hairdresser to have her highlights redone, thanking her stylist, Josh Wood, for her new glam look.

Eamonn returned to the GB News breakfast show, which he co-hosts, just a few days after news of their divorce was made pubic. While he alluded to their break-up, and thanked viewers for the kind messages they’d sent to both him and Ruth, he was then able to focus fully on presenting the news.

A pal said it was harder for Ruth, as a host on panel discussion show Loose Women, because the topics often covered relationship issues and matters of the heart which made it tricky to escape what she was going though herself. The couple, who have a 22-year-old son, Jack, had been an item for a total of 27 years before deciding to split.

A joint statement issued last month said simply: ”Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.” Eamonn has moved out of their home in Weybridge, Surrey. Ruth has spoken about caring for Eamonn through his surgeries and ongoing ailments. At the end of last year she said: “With any care situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it isn’t always easy, but if something happens to somebody you love, you help them as much as you can.”
