Prince Harry was absent Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding with Olivia Henson
Prince Harry’s absence at the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding with Olivia Henson shows the rift with his brother Prince William couldn’t be “wider.”
Harry, the Duke of Sussex was missing at the wedding at Chester, where his brother the Prince of Wales acted as an usher. William was spotted beaming happily as the couple exchanged their vows.
Weighing in on Harry’s absence at his close friend’s wedding, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Express: “Harry’s non-appearance [on Friday] at the wedding of the year [was] inevitable.”
“It should be noted that he and Meghan don’t attend anything comparable in California,” he noted.
“He would surely not be human if he did not feel genuine regret as his friendship with Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster reportedly endures, and so many of his friends in his former life were there,” continued the expert.
Fitzwilliams noted that William’s presence made Harry think that he couldn’t attend the ceremony: “With William being an usher, it is a sad sign of the rift between the brothers that he felt he could not be present.”
“After the extraordinary briefings when he was last in Britain for the Invictus Service at St Paul’s, as to whether his father was too busy to see him and if there was enough security at a royal palace which he was reportedly offered, it is clear that the rift in the Royal Family could not be wider,” he concluded.
Harry and Meghan branded ‘frauds’ over expensive school plans for Archie and Lilibet
The Sussexes’ have been branded as ‘frauds’ by royal commentators after it was reported that they are looking at some of the most prestigious schools in Montecito, which can cost up to £40,000 a year, for their two kids.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have come under fire from a royal commentator for their “elitism” and have been branded “frauds” regarding the educational choices for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Sussexes are said to be eyeing some of the most elite schools in Montecito, California, with reports suggesting they’ve toured a private school where fees can soar to £40,000 annually.
Harry is a former student of top-tier institutions such as Ludgrove and Eton College in England, while Meghan is a graduate of Immaculate Heart High School, a Catholic all-girls establishment in Los Angeles, the Express reports.
US journalist Lee Cohen has expressed his exasperation at the couple’s actions, criticising them for considering such an exclusive and costly education for their kids when they claim to stand for equality and social justice.

Speaking to GBN America, Cohen remarked: “Their supposed commitment to progressive causes is nothing but a facade. If they’re willing to indulge in this epitome of elitism, there is no advocating for equality.
“Yet they’re willing to pay staggering tens of thousands per year for their children’s education.
“How can they possibly justify this when so many families struggle to afford even the basic necessities?
“Sending their children to such a prestigious institution completely exposes the frauds that Harry and Meghan are. By perpetuating the very systems of privilege that they claim to expose.”
Victoria Beckham plots ‘ultimate revenge’ on Meghan Markle amid talks new lifestyle brand may fail
Meghan Markle is said to have once had a close bond with the former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, over the years but their relationship is now said to be ‘frosty’.
Meghan Markle and Victoria Beckham were once friends before they had a major fall out
Meghan Markle’s foray into the lifestyle business could serve as the “ultimate revenge” for Victoria Beckham amidst their reportedly ‘frosty’ relationship, according to a brand expert.
Despite previously enjoying a close bond with David and Victoria Beckham, it appears that the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has cooled in recent years.
Allegations have surfaced suggesting that the tension may have stemmed from Prince Harry accusing Victoria of leaking stories to the media, an accusation that reportedly left David “furious”.
This year, Meghan made a soft launch of her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, but there are whispers that the venture might not succeed, which would be the “ultimate” triumph for Victoria, the Express reports.
Speaking to the Sun, brand expert and Director at Borne Media, Denise Palmer-Davies, remarked: “It is a difficult market to crack – even Victoria has had her obstacles – as it is so saturated.

“But given their fallout, the sceptic in me wonders if she’d be secretly pleased if it did backfire. That would be the ultimate revenge wouldn’t it? “.
The discussion comes in the wake of the Beckhams’ docuseries, which debuted last October and became Netflix’s most-watched show in 2023, amassing a staggering 208.5 million hours viewed.
In contrast, the docuseries featuring Harry and Meghan, released on the same streaming service in 2022, only clocked in 72.9 million hours watched over the course of that year.
Observers have noted that while viewership typically wanes over time, the significant drop in numbers for the Sussexes could also be attributed to the couple’s portrayal in their series.
Whilst some viewers labelled the pair as “whiny”, others criticised Meghan for “mocking” her initial curtsy to the deceased Queen Elizabeth.
Meanwhile, the Beckhams were applauded in their documentary for their honesty about the hard parts of David’s footballing career with the scenes from their family life continuing to gain popularity on social media.
Duchess Sophie failed to hide her ‘cold stare’ at Prince Harry and Meghan during key event
Duchess Sophie has made her feelings about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping down as working royals very clear.
Duchess Sophie of Edinburgh has become one of the most important and beloved members of the Royal Family since she married Prince Edward in 1999.
So it should perhaps come as no surprise that her reaction when hearing that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were quitting royal life was one of upmost loyalty to the Firm.
Commonwealth Day in 2020 fell on March 9 and was a significant occasion not just for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but also the rest of the royals.
It was the last royal engagement attended by Harry and Meghan and one of the last public royal events before the UK was plunged into lockdown just a couple of weeks later.
Body language expert Judi James told Express.co.uk how Sophie has expressed her feelings towards the couple without even opening her mouth.
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. Read our Privacy Policy
She said: “During the hugely awkward and painful Commonwealth Service that was Harry and Meghan’s last public appearance before they quit the UK, Edward and Sophie seemed to have been enlisted to act as ice-breakers and air-bags between the Sussexes and the Cambridges.
“But that was before the Oprah interview and Harry’s book Spare wreaked their damage.
“This cold stare or glower might possibly have preceded a warm social smile of greeting from Sophie but, even if it did, there’s a stronger possibility that she was letting her authentic feelings be known first.”
Relations between Harry and his extended family did not appear to have improved much the following year, when he travelled back to Windsor for the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip.
Ms James shared her analysis of the event: “Harry was walking out of Philip’s funeral service alone and had to pass Sophie and her daughter on the way out.
“It was hard not to feel some sympathy for Harry, who was also about to have the famous awkward chat with his brother William that Kate very carefully choreographed.
“It might have been expected that Sophie would, like Kate, take some steps to break the ice, but she didn’t appear to acknowledge Harry at all.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle received a mixed reception when they flew back to London for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.
Three months later they returned for her funeral, the last time the Duchess came back to the UK, as she did not accompany Harry to the Invictus Games 10th anniversary service at St Paul’s Cathedral last month.
During his visit Harry did not meet any members of the Royal Family, as many attended a Buckingham Palace garden party which was being held at the same time as the service.
Brigitte Macron committed something of a faux pas today when she tried to hold hands with a rather reluctant Queen Camilla.
The mishap occurrsed when the Queen and Mrs Macron, both dressed in white, laid wreaths at the British Normandy Memorial at Ver-sur-Mer.
After placing their flowers, they stepped back to take a moment of reflection and the First Lady reached out to the Queen, but Camilla seemed somewhat reluctant to proffer her gloved hand.
After appearing to give the royal’s hand a slight squeeze, Mrs Macron dropped it and the two stood side by side in front of the memorial.
While her gesture was no doubt well meant, getting tactile with members of the royal family is always a thorny issue.
According to the Royal Family’s website there are ‘no obligatory codes of behaviour’ when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family, but there’s an unwritten rule that you shouldn’t go beyond a handshake.

While younger members of the royal family like Prince William and the Princess of Wales are known for being more relaxed and doling out hugs, the older generation follow the example of the late Queen who was not tactile with members of the public.
President Emmanuel Macron also kept the King and Queen waiting when he was 20 minutes late for a showpiece D-Day memorial ceremony today.

The awkward moment happened after Brigitte and Emmanuel had kept the King and Queen waiting
The Royals were already sitting waiting on Thursday morning when France’s head of state finally arrived at the 80th anniversary event at the British Normandy Memorial at Ver-sur-Mer.
King Charles and Queen Camilla did not comment on the behaviour of Mr Macron, who was accompanied by his wife, Brigitte Macron.
But French media noticed what happened, and it was widely reported.

Cnews, the TV news outlet, wrote: ‘While the King and Queen of England were already installed, Emmanuel Macron and his wife arrived twenty minutes late for the Franco-British ceremony, which shocked the English.’
On Tuesday, Mr Macron was almost an hour late when he turned up at the first D-Day commemoration in Plumelec, Brittany.
There was no immediate comment from the Élysee Palace about the President’s tardiness of Brigitte’s attempt to hold the Queen’s hand.
The First Lady followed in the footsteps of Hollywood star Tom Cruise who offered his hand to Kate Middleton to assist her up a small set of steps at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in May 2022.
He followed the example of fellow Americans who have raised eyebrows by being touchy feely, including Michelle Obama who famously put an arm around the late Queen and LeBron James who did the same with Kate.

One of the most infamous examples of Americans being touch feely with the British royals came in 2009, when then First Lady Michelle Obama (pictured, left) put her arm around the Queen (pictured, right)
Among the most famous tactile moments took place during a meeting between the Queen and then First Lady Michelle Obama at Buckingham Palace.
The Obamas visited her Majesty in April 2009, when she placed an arm around the monarch, who reciprocated, and put an arm around the First Lady.
Although the incident raised eyebrows at the time, reflecting on the interaction 10 years later, during a 2019 London promotional event for her memoir, Michelle Obama said it was a ‘natural human reaction’.
‘What is true among world leaders is that there are people who handle protocol, and usually the people they’re representing don’t want all that protocol.

President Trump broke protocol by appearing to pat the Queen on the shoulder as she stood up to toast him
‘So you wonder, well, who are you doing this for? Because they don’t want it, we don’t want it.
‘But it’s just the way things are. So I don’t know that I could have done anything differently because it was a natural human reaction.’
She added that the Monarch branded royal protocol ‘rubbish’ during a later visit to Windsor Castle.
Her husband’s successor in the White House, Donald Trump, later raised eyebrows by appearing to pat the Queen on the shoulder as she stood to toast him during a state banquet in June 2019.
As the monarch stood up with her glass of Windsor Great Park sparkling English wine, the President reached out his left hand and put it behind her right shoulder, as if to pat it.
While the term protocol is bandied around a great deal, it is considered extremely poor form to touch a member of the royal family in such a formal setting. The Queen did not react and continued to play the gracious hostess.

Another notable moment occurred in 2014, when Kate Middleton and Prince William met Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player LeBron James in New York, after a game with the Brooklyn Nets.
When the trio posed for a photo, the athlete put his arm around the Duchess, in an eyebrow raising moment that garnered lots of attention.
Speaking to MailOnline about the tactile moment, etiquette expert William Hanson said: ‘Although I am sure the Duchess of Cambridge won’t have worried about it, Mr James should not have put his arm around her.
‘Americans are much more tactile than we Brits and this is another example of an American being too touchy feely with British royalty. You’d have thought they’d have learned by now.’
However, the Cambridges seems unbothered about the moment, and were seen laughing and joking with LeBron throughout their interaction.
Held in honour of the reigning sovereign’s birthday, the annual Trooping the Colour event has seen many colourful moments, particularly the fashion choices of Kate and Camilla.
Over the years, these two royal icons have repeatedly chosen to wear outfits in strikingly similar colours and styles.
The fashion twinning hasn’t stopped at their clothes, with accessories including hats and jewellery also showing a remarkable alignment.
It was only last year, when the pair stepped into their respective roles of Queen Consort and the Princess of Wales after the death of Queen Elizabeth, that their outfits were contrasting.
But read on to see how, since Kate’s debut Trooping the Colour in 2011, she and Camilla have regularly been on the same fashion page.

Meghan Markle ‘banned’ from using this British word and fans are astounded
A producer on Suits claimed the Palace were wary of Meghan Markle using the term, fearing clips could be edited to make it look like she was saying something else.
“So, in the episode, Mike and Rachel were going to have a thing, and as a nod to my in-laws, we were going to have her say, ‘My family would say poppycock,’” but he claimed the Royal Family “did not want her saying the word”.
Korsch said he believed the intervention was made over fears the clip could be cut to make it sound as though the Duchess had used a rude word.
“They didn’t want to put the word ‘poppycock’ in her mouth,” he said. “I presume because they didn’t want people cutting things together of her saying ‘c***.”
Korsch explained that as a result “we had to change it to ‘bulls***.’”
One TikTok user said the rumoured move by the Palace was the right call, commenting: “The royals aren’t some celebrity family, they’re the living embodiment of the British state. It’s only right they consider this stuff.”

Another wrote: “I think… smart of the Royal family. The video would definitely be edited in some crazy ways.”
Others pointed out that there was much more in the show the Palace could’ve taken issue with.
“She has a sex scene in the suits so I think words like that, does it matter?” they argued.
Meghan appeared on the hit series about a New York City law firm for seven seasons until she dropped out after meeting Harry.
Though the Duchess is not expected to appear on screen in the series again, its producers say she has expressed interest in working behind the scenes, so it’s possible she could return as a producer or director.
Kate Middleton and Charles health updates shared by emotional Sarah Ferguson after own cancer battle
Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, joined Good Morning Britain on Wednesday to give an update on both her own health as well as the King and Princess of Wales’ after the Royal Family had a double cancer scare
An emotional Sarah Ferguson provided the nation with an update on the health of King Charles and Kate Middleton when she appeared on Good Morning Britain today.
The Duchess of York has faced her own brave battle with cancer while the Princess of Wales and the King recently revealed they were undergoing treatment for the disease. Meanwhile, Fergie was asked to address rumours that her ex-husband and close friend Prince Andrew is downsizing from the Royal Lodge, as well as giving a cheery update on the late Queen’s corgis.
Responding to host Susanna Reid’s health enquiry, she revealed: “All these years I’ve been thinking ‘am I good enough? Am I this, am I that? Do I get my finances right? Do I do this? And actually suddenly now with a mastectomy and then with malignant melanoma, every single day, it’s not a wake up call, it’s now a new normal.”
She added: “You can never say you’re cancer-free, but you can say that I’m doing well Susanna, and I’m very lucky, but I really am determined. Honestly 1.2 mammograms are not being picked up. The people are not going for their mammograms, they’re not being tested. They need to be tested, they can be tested and don’t be frightened.”

In response to the Duchess’s words, Susanna replied: “I had been avoiding it because I was worried and it wasn’t the painful experience that I had in my head that it was – so thank you. [It was] All clear, thank goodness.”
Sarah Ferguson has praised the King and Kate Middleton for their recent efforts in supporting Cancer Research UK, saying: “I’m so, so proud of the King going to CRUCK, the Cancer Research UK, and becoming the royal patron and going out there and talking to all these people because it gives everybody that wonderful feeling that they are being listened to, and I thought that was very brave of him to do that. The lovely Princess Catherine doing the video was so brave. I think family unity is an extraordinary thing and I’m honestly just so proud and I just send them lots of love and lots of support.”

When quizzed by co-host Martin Lewis about the King’s request for Prince Andrew and herself to relocate from the Royal Lodge to the ‘much smaller’ Frogmore cottage, Sarah responded: “Well, you know it’s not a ‘Debbie Downer’. It’s life in the fast lane. I’m a guest for a start. I am a very lucky guest and a very comfortable guest, thank you very much. But I tend not to get involved in brothers’ discussions and I think that’s the best, most safe place to be. Let the brothers discuss it between themselves and I keep it like that.”
The Duchess shared a touching insight into her private conversations with Queen Elizabeth before her passing. Appearing on ITV’s Loose Women, she revealed: “Just before the Queen died, Queen Elizabeth, the late Queen, she said ‘Sarah, just being yourself is enough and it’s good enough’ and as soon as she said that… I walk on and talk to you guys and you can ask me anything you like because I am okay now. I have done my apprenticeship of life at 64.”
Following such heartening words from Her Majesty, the Duchess added: “I now sort of feel as though, ‘wow, she said that myself is good enough’ and I thought she was one of the finest people I had ever met in my entire life and a legend, an icon and I love her and of course, I have the corgis everyday… They are fantastic.”
The Duchess will be joining the Loose Women panel again, reports Gloucestershire Live. She’ll be on Wednesday’s show from 12.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
Kate Middleton’s incredible gesture to royal staff that left them ‘really touched’
A former Royal Family staffer has described how Kate Middleton’s kind gesture to staff which left them touched is an insight into why she’s so popular with the public
Staff working for the Royal Family were left touched after Princess Kate introduced her youngest son to them, a former aid has revealed.
The Princess of Wales has always had a warm relationship with those working for her and is thought of as “very popular” with them. Kate, 42, is known for taking a hands on approach and dividing her time between her husband, kids and royal duties, which may explain why her popular persona to the public spreads into her personal life and attitude.
An anonymous former staff explained: “Prince William wants it to be casual. The kids run around the office, and he does not want it to be stuffy. If we have important meetings or are going to Buckingham Palace, then, of course, we [dress up].”

The couple have been known to divert away from the Royal norm on a number of occasions, including rejecting traditional parenting methods for a more modern approach while caring for their three children. Kate and William want their youngsters to be able to talk about their feelings instead of losing their temper and raising their voices, with one insider claiming shouting is “off limits” in their homes.
Qualified early years practitioner and parenting consultant Kirsty Ketle recently spoke about Kate’s approach to raising her children – and explained why she believes it’s an approach for parents to follow. She said the Princess is “fast becoming an icon” in the parenting and early years world and it’s all down to her own work.
She explained: “Google can give you one of many suggestions on how best to parent, but one of the most common patterns in raising children is by parents following their own parents’ style and methods,” she said. “In Kate’s case, she has a tight-knit family and her childhood home was full of love.”

In March, Kate revealed her “huge shock” at being diagnosed with cancer in an emotional video message. She underwent “major abdominal surgery” in January and at the time of her operation, it was thought that her condition was non-cancerous, as no tests had confirmed the presence of cancer.
However, post-operative tests confirmed that cancer had been present. In her heartfelt statement to the world confirming her diagnosis, recorded in Windsor on Wednesday, Kate spoke of “an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family”. Here’s what we know so far about her diagnosis, her treatment, how her family are coping and when she might return to royal duties.
On January 16, Kate had abdominal surgery at the London Clinic and tests at the time showed her condition was non-cancerous. However, post-operative tests found cancer had been present – it is not known when Kate found this out. In her video message, Kate said the surgery was successful and she needed time to recover from the major operation before she could start the treatment. The type of cancer is battling has not been disclosed. Kensington Palace said no further medical information will be shared, and that Kate has a right to medical privacy just like everyone else.
King Charles is said to be ‘absolutely committed’ to having a relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, despite his strained relationship with the Sussexes
King Charles is reportedly eager to build a closer relationship with his stateside grandkids after only seeing the children on a handful of occasions to date.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, have only headed to the UK once in their lives as they remain on American soil. However, despite the youngsters allegedly speaking to their grandfather the King via video call from across the pond, the monarch is said to be keen to build a closer bond with the pair.
While King Charles continues to have a strained relationship with his youngest son, Prince Harry, royal sources have said the monarch is “absolutely committed” to being in his grandkids’ life.
Harry and Charles have a strained relationship
A source said Charles had sent Lilibet a “heartfelt gift and card” for her third birthday last week. This comes after the royal family failed to publicly mark her big day. However, speaking to the Mirror, royal author Ingrid Seward said the King’s cancer diagnosis has made his relationships with his grandchildren “all the more poignant” as he knows he “won’t be around forever”.
An insider added: “The King is absolutely committed to being present in all of his grandchildren’s lives. He values family above everything and whatever the course of his relationship with his son he would never be content with just seeing his grandchildren on the odd video call.”
If you can’t see the poll, click here
The comments come as sources claim the King has a fantastic relationship with his other grandchildren. He is said to be a “‘fantastic and enthusiastic grandpa” to Prince William and Princess Kate’s children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, five.
It’s also claimed that Queen Camilla is trying to ramp up his efforts to seeing Harry’s children.
Sources have said that Harry is currently “determined to find his own permanent home” in the UK. After stepping back from his royal duties in 2020, the Duke of Sussex has resided stateside with Meghan and their kids.
However, he’s reportedly on the lookout for a permanent UK base, especially as he no longer has a royal residence to call his own. Royal author and expert Tom Quinn exclusively told the Mirror: “As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK. Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles.”
He added: “He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don’t get on with Meghan. Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security.”
