STRICTLY SHAKE-UP: Shirley Ballas Reveals Who She’s Backing to Host — And It’s BAD News for Anton Du Beke

Strictly star Shirley Ballas has some bad news for fellow show judge Anton Du Beke – she’s backing two other BBC stars to take over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman when they exit the show this week!

Earlier on this season, Tess and Claudia announced the sad news that they would be stepping down as hosts of the BBC dance show.

Since then, a number of presenters have been rumoured to be in the running to take over. And, as speculation grows that the BBC has a “golden 10” shortlist of presenters they’re eyeing to take over, head judge Shirley Ballas has a firm idea of who she wants at the helm.

    Look away now, Anton…

BBC on the hunt for new Strictly presenters

Earlier this week, it was reported that a shortlist of 10 presenters were in the BBC’s sights for arguably the hottest job in TV. It was claimed that they would be taking part in a chemistry testing day in the New Year, before the new hosts would then be decided.

Following the reports, Amanda Holden ruled herself and Alan Carr out as the new hosts, saying they love the show but they’re both too busy to commit to the series.

Shirley has also stated that she isn’t interested in a hosting role, admitting she’d prefer to “stay in her lane” and concentrate on critiquing the dancing.

The same can’t be said for fellow judge Anton Du Beke, though. He’s made no secret of the fact he wants to follow in his idol Sir Bruce Forsyth’s footsteps.

“I know Anton du Beke would love to be hosting. I know that for sure. There’s an expression in life to stay in your lane. My lane is dancing,” she said.

Shirley gives Rob and Rylan her backing as new Strictly hosts

    So who is Shirley backing?

Speaking to The Independent, Shirley said: “I think Rylan [Clark] could be a good candidate. I think Judge Rinder would be wicked in the Clauditorium.

“But whoever they pick,” she added.

Bookies have Rylan at 6/1 to host the show, with Rob currently at 13/2. But with Shirley’s backing, could the pair now be considered frontrunners to take over?

So who else is in line to host Strictly Come Dancing?

As well as Rob and Rylan, Holly Willoughby, Bradley Walsh and Alex Jones are reportedly heading to the BBC’s chemistry testing day.

Rounding out the so-called “golden 10” presenters are Angela Scanlon, Zoe Ball and Alison Hammond.

The bookies’ current favourite for the role is Alex Jones. The One Show host has odds of 11/4. Holly and Bradley are joint second favourites to take over with odds of 3/1.

“SACK ME IF YOU WANT I’M NOT BACKING DOWN.” RYLAN CLARK BLOWS UP HIS ITV CAREER TO SAY WHAT OTHERS WON’T Rylan has confirmed his ITV contract is over after refusing to retreat from explosive on-air remarks about illegal immigration. Shaken but defiant, he says he has no regrets and insists some truths are worth losing a career over.

Rylan Clark has confirmed that his time at This Morning is over—this time for good. After a whirlwind week of controversy, the TV star revealed that his contract with ITV has officially been terminated following the backlash to his explosive remarks on immigration.

In an emotional sign-off, Rylan, 36, told viewers on Friday: “At last, I can finally breathe easy and speak out about those disgusting truths. I have no regrets for speaking up, even if it cost me my career. Thank you, everyone…”

The announcement marks a dramatic end to his stint as stand-in host alongside Josie Gibson, who had been covering for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard during their summer break. Josie responded on-air with: “What a week!”—but fans had no idea that it would also be Rylan’s last.

The storm began earlier in the week when Rylan clashed with viewers over his take on Reform UK leader Nigel Farage’s mass deportation plans. Speaking live on air, he questioned:

“How come if I turn up at Heathrow Airport as a British citizen and I’ve left my passport in Spain, I won’t be let in? But if I arrive on a boat from Calais, I get taken to a four-star hotel?”

Rylan insisted that he was not against immigration, adding: “This country is built on immigration—legal immigration. They pay tax, they help our country thrive. But illegal routes? That’s something we can’t ignore.”

    Streaming subscription service

He also highlighted what he saw as a growing injustice: “You’ve got people who have lived here all their lives struggling, while others are handed hotels, phones, even iPads. Something major has to change.”

    TV show subscriptions

The remarks instantly divided audiences, with critics accusing him of spreading misinformation about asylum seekers in the UK. Social media erupted, and within hours, calls were mounting for ITV to act.

On X, Rylan fought back, declaring: “You can be pro-immigration and against illegal routes. You can support trans rights and respect women. You can be straight and support gay rights. The list goes on.”

    Social media training

But by Friday, the damage was done. ITV confirmed behind the scenes that his role would not continue, with insiders revealing that the network and Rylan had “mutually agreed” to terminate his contract.

    Daytime TV merchandise

Fans reacted with heartbreak. One wrote: “Please keep Rylan and Josie on! They’re the best duo in years.” Another added: “I won’t be watching come next week—he was the only reason I tuned in again.”

The news came just as former host Ruth Langsford teased her own return to the iconic sofa. Speaking to The Mirror, she hinted she’d happily reunite with her “TV son” Rylan:

“I love Rylan. He’s like my son. We’ve worked together before, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. If ITV asked, I’d be there.”

However, with Rylan’s future at ITV officially closed, fans are now left wondering: could the duo reunite on an entirely new project away from This Morning? Ruth teased that something might already be in the works.

For now, one thing is clear: Rylan Clark is stepping away from daytime  TV on his own terms—louder, prouder, and with no regrets.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX—without one of its most outspoken stars.

COUNTRYSIDE DETONATES: Police Ban Farmers’ Protest – Then 10,000 Tractors Storm London in Fury! Starmer’s Final Warning Shot Just Blew Up in His Face!

A farmer has warned the Labour Government will need “the army” to stop the  tractors descending on Westminster ahead of the Budget.

Speaking to GB News, Olly Harrison said the Government and the Met Police “do not care about the rural community” after cancelling their planned Budget protest.

Speaking to the People’s Channel, Berkshire Farmers Group organisers George Brown, Dan Willis and Caroline Graham Dr Alison Heydari, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Scotland Yard, withdrew consent for the demonstration with less than 10 hours to go.

Highlighting their devastation at the U-turn by police, Mr Brown said: “Yeah Martin, we’re absolutely devastated. We’ve been working on this for months and we’ve had a great relationship with the Met.”

Asked by host Martin Daubney if the move “smacks of two-tier policing”, Mr Harrison agreed: “It smells a bit fishy to me, definitely.

“A group of farmers not that far from here organise something for Budget day, because obviously we want a positive outcome in the Budget. They’ve got some things organised and they’ve been engaged with the Met for probably two or three months.

“And it all seemed to be okay, and then just on the 11th hour, they say, ‘oh no, you can’t come with any  tractors, you can’t do this’. And it’s just like, well, why? And they are like, ‘well, it’s come from above’.

As Martin highlighted that the Met Police knew about the plans for 400 tractors to be at the protest “a month ago”, Mr Harrison responded: “Does the rural community not matter?”

Olly Harrison has warned that the authorities will need ‘the army’ to stop the tractors descending on Westminster

He explained: “What I don’t understand is that these tractors are on the way. I’ve seen on Twitter, tractors are on the way from York. They’re not going to turn around when they’re so close, are they?

“So to me, it made perfect sense to keep them all in Whitehall because no one really lives there, no one important anyway, stick them in there, let them have a chin wag, let them listen to the Budget and off they go.

The farmer stated: “Trying to stop them, what are they going to do, put a  ring around London and stop every  tractor trying to come in? It’ll just bring the police to a standstill, and they’ll need the army to stop them.”

Suggesting that the tractors and the protesting farmers will still demonstrate in Westminster on Wednesday, Mr Harrison told GB News: “Well, from what I hear, they’re still on their way.”

Farmers were set to bring their tractors to Whitehall as part of their latest protest against the family farm tax

Asked if the protesters will take their demonstration “on foot” to Whitehall if their tractors are not permitted, Mr Harrsion stated: “Oh yeah, definitely. There were a lot coming on foot anyway.

“There’s a few tractors coming, but most were on foot already.”

In a statement, the Berkshire Farmers Group told GB News: “Imposing these conditions on a protest with this short of a notice is, in our opinion, a malicious approach to preventing our right to protest, leaving little time for appeal or for facilitating their requests.

“Therefore, we, Berkshire Farmers Group and all associated organisers including but not limited to George Brown, Dan Willis and Caroline Graham, wish to inform all attendees that this protest has been cancelled by Dr Alison Heydari of the Metropolitan Police, and we absolve ourselves of all responsibilities for any attendance to this event.”

Announcing the decision on Tuesday afternoon, Scotland Yard said: “We have had a number of conversations with the protest organisers to safely manage the event.

“While people will still be able to demonstrate, conditions have been put in place to prevent protesters from bringing vehicles, including tractors or other agricultural vehicles to the protest.

“This decision was taken due to the serious disruption they may cause to the local area, including businesses, emergency services and Londoners going about their day.”

While stressing that the protest had not been banned, the Met Police added: “Any person taking part in the farmers protest must remain in Richmond Terrace, Whitehall.”

“I’m Broken Without You” — Pete Wicks Devastated as He Says Goodbye to Peggy, His Beloved French Bulldog, After Losing the Brave Fight for Life

Pete Wicks has opened up about a deeply personal loss, revealing that his much-loved French bulldog Peggy has died, just weeks after he told fans she was facing months of treatment.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 37, shared the heartbreaking news during a recent episode of his podcast Staying Relevant, explaining that Peggy actually passed away around a month ago. Pete said he hadn’t spoken publicly about it before, but decided to address it after listeners began wondering why only his other dog, Eric, was with him in the studio.

On the podcast, Pete told listeners that on a sad note, and knowing people would ask, the reason Peggy wasn’t there was because he had lost her recently. He explained that Eric had come into the office because he’d been lonely, adding quietly that Peggy died about a month ago.

Pete had first alarmed fans back in July when he revealed he had “nearly lost” Peggy, sharing that she was about to begin months of treatment. At the time, he posted a photo of the pair cuddling and admitted it had been a tough week, saying Peggy had been through the wars but never gave up. He told followers he was simply happy to have her back home and remained hopeful despite the long road ahead.

Earlier this month, while promoting his U series For Dogs’ Sake, Pete admitted 2025 had been a heavy year emotionally. He revealed he was planning to spend Christmas Day alone with Eric, joking that he’d likely sit at home with a Pot Noodle. Pete said he usually spends Christmas on his own with his dogs, and this year felt no different.

After spending weeks filming at Dogs Trust’s rehoming centre in Basildon, Pete also spoke about the possibility of adopting another dog one day, but stressed he wouldn’t rush the decision. He explained that while he wants every dog, he has to practise what he preaches, given his unusual lifestyle. He added that Eric, now 12, also gets a say, saying it’s important to find the right companion for him and to get it right, as he always has.

Peggy had been part of Pete’s life since 2018, when he rescued her through French Bulldog Saviours. He has often spoken about his bond with dogs, previously admitting he prefers them to people and that he couldn’t stop crying while filming his emotional animal-focused series.

Pete’s love for dogs began in childhood, when he and his mum adopted their first pet, Arnie, when he was just 10 years old. In 2016, he went on to rescue Eric from Dogs Trust Basildon — the loyal companion who is now helping him through the loss of Peggy.

HEARTBREAKING: Lawrence Robb, Who Plays Mack on Emmerdale, ISSUES ANNOUNCEMENT About Leaving the Long-Running Drama Series

Lawrence Robb, who plays Emmerdale’s Mack Boyd, recently addressed reports his character was being k!lled off by John Sugden. So now that his character appears to be d3ad after a brutal showdown, what did he have to say about leaving the ITV soap?

Amid theories from fans that he isn’t really d3ad and might be alive, the actor remained coy over the news just weeks ago. Reports had been leaked by a publication that Mack would be left d3ad after exposing k!ller John.

It’s now thought, according to the publication, that Lawrence has left the show with Mack leaving for good. While scenes on Thursday appeared to confirm this and that Mack had been k!lled, fans are not convinced given it is soap land, and there was no body.

While it did appear there was a body under a blanket in John’s van, which was covered in blood, fans have been left asking if he’s really gone, and if Lawrence has really left. That remains unclear really, with the actor not speaking out since the episode aired.

But it was only weeks ago that he commented on his feelings about if he was to leave the show and be k!lled off. Speaking on Loose Women he was asked about the possible twist, and he confessed it was a real possibility.

He said: “There are lots of rumours, and rumours they shall remain”, before adding: “I’ve always said that being in the show that I never want to be too prescriptive with it.” He went on: “I’ve always enjoyed doing what I’m doing.

“If, and when, the time to leave comes, whether that would be my choice or the choice of the producers, then I will be thankful for the time that I’ve had. Ultimately, no one is safe in the show. Especially not in that village!”

Emmerdale’s John Sugden appeared to k!ll Mack(Image: ITV)

Lawrence also spoke about the big week away from Loose Women, hinting at a grisly end for his character. He shared, on if his could be a victim: “One hundred percent yes. There’s no two ways about it. This evidence puts him in a dangerous position.”

But teasing it could also lead to John’s downfall, Lawrence added there was possibly “a bleak outcome” for poor Mack. He explained: “Look, there’s certainly a chance Mackenzie has the capability to bring John down. If he does – well that remains to be seen.

“But there’s potentially a very bleak outcome on the horizon.” He added: “It’s not looking good. Whilst Mackenzie has got the argument with Charity on his plate, he’s also got a pretty critical moment with John on his plate as well. And, combine these two things and it does not spell good things.”

With the finale just days away and only a handful of campmates left in the game, many I’m A Celebrity viewers have stopped waiting for the result — they’ve already crowned their winner.

Aitch reduced the nation to tears on Tuesday night as he stepped up to the mic at the Jungle Arms and dedicated My G to his beloved younger sister Gracie. The rapper, who won the rare treat of a trip to the show’s iconic pub alongside his campmates, quickly turned a rowdy karaoke session into one of the most emotional moments of the entire series.

Aitch has long spoken about his close bond with his 16-year-old twin sisters, Gracie and Hattie. But it is Gracie — who has Down’s syndrome — who has shaped both his life and his career in profound ways. His hit track My G was written for her, and every penny made from the song is donated to the Down’s Syndrome Association. As he put it on the show, he chose the only song that has ever truly belonged to his heart.

Onstage, he joked that while the music video had Ed Sheeran, tonight he had to “make do” with his best mate in camp, AngryGinge, as the pair launched into an unexpectedly touching duet. When he sang the lyric “Baby, live your best life… the globe is yours,” viewers could see him glance upward as if sending the words directly to Gracie.

At home, fans were in pieces, and even Ruby Wax admitted she felt overwhelmed watching the raw tenderness of the performance. Across social media, comments poured in calling Aitch “the real winner already” and declaring that no one else deserved the crown more.

Before entering the jungle, Aitch openly shared that he wanted to use his platform to raise awareness for people with Down’s syndrome. He said he never wanted families to feel fear or sorrow when they received a diagnosis, explaining: “It’s a blessing… you’re going to have the best time of your life as long as you’re spending it with that person.” He added that the idea anyone might respond with “I’m sorry to hear that” about a Down’s syndrome child or sibling is something he hopes to change forever.

Meanwhile, as Aitch continues to win hearts across the nation, Kelly Brook became the fourth celebrity to be voted out of the competition — greeted on the bridge by her husband Jeremy Parisi, who flew in from Italy to support her.

This means more than anyone knows.” And then came the twist — the kind that only happens once a decade — a surprise pairing so bold, so unexpected, that one producer was overheard saying, “This will change the show forever.” Twitter exploded. TikTok went feral. Lifelong fans called it “the biggest Strictly shock since the show began.” With tears, cheers, and chaos swirling around him, Rylan stepped forward, smiling through the storm: “Let’s make history… together.” And just like that, the nation was hooked — because this isn’t just a new season. It’s a revolution.

In a move that has sent shockwaves through the glittering world of ballroom dancing, the BBC has officially announced Rylan Clark as the new host of *Strictly Come Dancing*, stepping into the formidable shoes left vacant by long-time presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. The revelation, dropped like a bombshell during a prime-time special on November 26, 2025, confirms what insiders have been whispering for weeks: the charismatic former *X Factor* star and beloved radio personality will lead the show’s 2026 series. But the real jaw-dropper? His co-host is none other than Emma Willis, the no-nonsense presenter known for her work on *Big Brother* and *The Voice UK*—a choice that has left fans reeling, divided, and utterly surprised.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Tess and Claudia’s emotional exit, revealed just last month in a joint Instagram video that caught even the show’s insiders off guard. The duo, who have helmed *Strictly* since 2004 and 2014 respectively, cited a desire for more family time and new projects as their reasons for bowing out after the current series wraps. “It’s been an incredible ride, but it’s time to hang up our sequins,” Tess said in the video, her voice cracking with emotion. Claudia, ever the witty counterpart, added, “We’ve laughed, cried, and glitter-bombed our way through two decades. What a sparkle!” Their departure marks the end of an era for the BBC’s flagship entertainment program, which has dazzled audiences with its mix of celebrity glamour, professional prowess, and occasional controversy.

Rylan Clark, 37, is no stranger to the *Strictly* family. Rising to fame on *The X Factor* in 2012, where his larger-than-life personality and infectious energy won over Simon Cowell and the nation, Rylan transitioned seamlessly into presenting. He hosted *Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two* from 2019 to 2023, earning rave reviews for his empathetic interviews and cheeky banter with contestants. Fans remember his heartfelt moments, like consoling tearful dancers after tough critiques or hyping up underdogs before live shows. His departure from *It Takes Two* in 2023 to focus on other ventures, including his BBC Radio 2 show and various  TV gigs, left a void—but now, he’s back in a bigger role than ever.

“Rylan’s the perfect fit,” a BBC insider told us exclusively. “He’s got that sparkle, that warmth, and he knows the show inside out. Plus, he’s adored by the viewers.” Betting odds had pegged him as a frontrunner alongside names like Bill Bailey and Alan Carr, but the official nod still feels like a triumph for the Essex boy done good. Rylan himself reacted with trademark humility and excitement on social media shortly after the announcement: “Pinch me! Hosting *Strictly*? Dream come true. Can’t wait to bring the glitz with my fabulous co-host. Let’s dance!”

But it’s the choice of Emma Willis as his co-host that’s truly raised eyebrows. At 49, Emma brings a wealth of experience from reality TV heavyweights, where her poised demeanor and sharp interviewing skills have made her a household name. Yet, her pairing with Rylan is unexpected—fans had speculated duos like Rylan with Fleur East (who replaced him on *It Takes Two*) or even a solo host shake-up. “Emma? Really?” one fan tweeted in disbelief. “Love her on *Big Brother*, but *Strictly* is all about fun and flair. This feels like a curveball.” Others praised the move: “Fresh energy! Emma’s class and Rylan’s charm—genius combo.”

Sources close to the production reveal that Emma was a last-minute contender, edging out other favorites after impressing in screen tests. “The chemistry was electric,” our insider dished. “Rylan’s bubbly, Emma’s grounded—they balance each other like Tess and Claudia did.” Emma, married to Busted’s Matt Willis and a mother of three, has spoken openly about her love for dance shows. In a past interview, she confessed, “I’d kill to be part of *Strictly*—the glamour, the stories, it’s TV magic.” Her addition signals the BBC’s intent to evolve the format, perhaps injecting more in-depth contestant chats amid the tango and tango.

The shake-up couldn’t come at a more pivotal time for *Strictly*. The 2025 series has been marred by scandals, from judge walkout rumors to contestant injuries, prompting calls for a refresh. Tess and Claudia’s exit, while voluntary, was influenced by the show’s grueling schedule—weekends dominated by live broadcasts, leaving little room for personal life. BBC chief content officer Kate Phillips addressed the changes in a statement: “Tess and Claudia have been the heart of *Strictly*, but we’re thrilled to welcome Rylan and Emma. They’ll honor the legacy while bringing new vibrancy.”

Reactions from the *Strictly* alumni have poured in. Former winner Bill Bailey, who was tipped for the role, tweeted his support: “Rylan? Brilliant choice! And Emma—unexpected but spot on. Can’t wait to watch.” Judge Craig Revel Horwood, known for his acerbic wit, dropped a hint on air last week: “Darlings, big changes ahead—fabulous!” Fans speculate this could mean more judge involvement, perhaps even guest spots.

Rylan’s journey to this pinnacle is a testament to his resilience. After *X Factor*, he navigated personal highs and lows, including his 2021 divorce from Dan Neal and mental health battles, which he shared candidly in his memoir *Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future*. His advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and mental health has endeared him to millions, making him more than just a presenter—he’s a role model. “I’ve grown so much,” Rylan reflected in a recent Radio 2 broadcast. “Hosting *Strictly*? It’s full circle.”

Emma, too, brings depth. Her no-frills style contrasts Rylan’s flamboyance, promising dynamic on-screen moments. Imagine her grilling judges on scores while Rylan rallies the crowd—pure entertainment gold. But not everyone’s convinced. A Reddit thread exploded with debates: “Why not keep it in the family? Rylan yes, but Emma feels like a mismatch.” Others worry about gender balance, with two hosts again but a fresh dynamic.

As *Strictly* gears up for 2026, producers promise innovations: more diverse celebrities, interactive viewer votes, and perhaps themed weeks honoring the show’s history. Rylan and Emma’s debut will be scrutinized, but if their past successes are any indication, they’ll waltz through the pressure.

Tess and Claudia’s final bow from Blackpool Tower Ballroom last weekend was tearful, with tributes from stars like Rose Ayling-Ellis and Hamza Yassin. “You’ve been our guiding lights,” Rose signed in a video message. Now, the torch passes to Rylan and Emma—a hot new era for *Strictly*, full of surprises, sequins, and steps into the unknown.

In the end, this announcement isn’t just about hosts; it’s about reinvention. *Strictly Come Dancing* has survived scandals, pandemics, and shifting tastes. With Rylan at the helm and Emma by his side, the show is poised to shine brighter than ever. As Rylan might say: “Keep dancing!”

“I Lost Peggy”: Pete Wicks has shared a deeply personal and heartbreaking loss as he revealed that his beloved French bulldog, Peggy, has d.i.e.d — just weeks after he told fans she was facing months of treatment
