Loose Women star points out detail with Ant McPartlin’s name for baby son and is ‘worried’

Loose Women congratulated Ant McPartlin on his baby news after his wife Anne-Marie gave birth on Tuesday, welcoming a baby boy called Wilder Patrick McPartlin

Loose Women congratulated Ant McPartlin on his baby news during Wednesday’s show.

On Tuesday, 14 May, Ant, 48, welcomed his first child with wife Anne-Marie, 46. The loved-up couple, who tied the knot in 2021, announced their joyful baby news on Instagram after deciding not to announce their pregnancy publicly.

Anne-Marie gave birth to a little baby boy. Sharing a sweet black-and-white photo of Ant holding their newborn son, the proud parents also announced their baby’s name in the caption of the adorable post as they wrote: “Welcome to the family. Wilder Patrick Mcpartlin. Born, 14/05/24 at 8.54am. Baby is beautiful, Mummy’s a legend, Sisters are over the moon. Dad’s a mess.”

Talking about the happy news on Wednesday’s Loose Women, panellists Christine Lampard, Coleen Nolan, Linda Robson and Gloria Hunniford congratulated Ant before holding a segment called: “Are men just as broody as women?”

Christine, 45, said: “Ant has always said he wanted to be a dad and very open about it, you cannot take away from the fact a lot of men just want to be daddies and they’re broody and they’re proud.”

To which Gloria, 84, replied: “I think we’re all very happy, particularly for Ant, because he made no secret of the fact he wanted a child and his wife, the lovely lady who has now given birth to this lovely boy, she had two little girls. So maybe as he was helping to raise those children, he suddenly thought even more: ‘I’d really like one of my own’.”

However, Gloria then made an observation as she added: “I’m a bit worried about the name Wilder when he gets to that wild stage in his teens, it might take on a whole new meaning but I’m very happy for him” to which Christine pointed out: “Or it might just be wholly appropriate, it might just be perfect!”

Ant’s former personal assistant Anne-Marie already has two children from a previous relationship but now she and Ant are have become parents together. After his happy post on Tuesday, Ant’s famous friends flocked to share their congratulations on his Instagram.

His fellow TV presenter, Davina McCall, penned: “Arggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!! This is AMAZING !!!! Congratulations to ALL of you.” First Dates star Fred Sirieix wrote: “Congrats.” Ashley Banjo added: “Congrats guys,” while Joel Dommett chimed in: “I LOVE THIS.”

Another fan commented: “I’ve never been so happy for someone I’ve never met. You’re going to be the best daddy Ant.” While someone else added: “Beyond happy for you Ant the final piece of the puzzle to make all your dreams come true congratulations to you, Amzie, Poppy, and Daisy. Enjoy every second of little Wilder.”

ITV My mum Your Dad couples now: From loved-up to sad splits

My Mum, Your dad is set to return to ITV for a second series later this year, and the first series saw some of the parents falling in love – while others were left heartbroken

The ITV dating sensation first graced our screens in 2023 and quickly became a fan favourite, earning the nickname “middle-aged Love Island”.

The show’s unique premise involves parents being nominated by their children in a quest for love, as they date each other in a bid to find romance. The contestants reside together in a sprawling countryside mansion, blissfully unaware that their kids are keeping tabs on their every move.

While ITV has yet to announce an exact premiere date for the second series, we know it will be hitting our screens sometime in September 2024. The inaugural series saw couples like Roger Hawes and Janey Smith find love, although not all romances were successful.

Here’s a look at where the contestants from the first series of My Mum, Your dad are now…, reports OK!.

    Roger and Janey.

Roger and Janey are the standout success story from My Mum, Your dad. Their relationship flourished on the ITV programme, and over a year later, they’re still smitten!

Roger, 59, won over viewers when he shared his heartbreaking story of losing his beloved wife to cancer. His eldest daughter Jess, 29, put him forward for the dating show in hopes of helping him find love once more.

Jess’ efforts weren’t in vain, as Roger fell head over heels for Janey, 48, on MMYD. The mum-of-one joined the show alongside her son Will, 19.

The conversation ended with Richard probing the couple about when they planned to tie the knot but they kept their cards close to the chests

Roger and Janey’s love story is blossoming beautifully, with the couple often spotted soaking up the sun on romantic getaways or enjoying cosy visits to each other’s homes. Their families have even bonded, sharing a delightful weekend in the scenic Cotswolds.

The lovebirds, who’ve become familiar faces on This Morning sharing their travel tales, recently toasted to their first anniversary in May. They’ve been dropping hints about tying the knot and possibly moving in together down the line.

Opening up to OK! about their whirlwind romance, Janey gushed: “We’re always together, either at my house in West Sussex or at Roger’s in Derbyshire. Even when we’re not physically together, we’re on the phone four or five times a day. It’s a wonder we get anything done [laughs]. But it’s lovely that’s how it should be when you first meet someone.”

Roger chimed in with future plans, saying: “We’ll probably move in together at some point but, right now, the dynamic is working for us, especially while our family is spread across different locations.”

    Elliott and Sharon

Meanwhile, Elliott and Sharon emerged as another success story from My Mum, Your Dad, leaving the retreat hand in hand. The connection between Elliott, who joined MMYD alongside his son Zachary, and Sharon, who brought her daughter Tia, has only grown stronger.

They’d been enjoying days out and flaunting their blossoming relationship on Instagram, much to the delight of fans who are cheering on their love.

Reports swirled in November about Elliott Wright and Sharon’s relationship ending. The couple stayed mum on the rumours then, but it seems the love waned due to the miles between them with Sharon being anchored in Sunderland and Elliott in Essex.

Single life seems to suit Sharon well as she’s amping up her Insta game. The mother of two dishes out style cues along with beauty and skincare secrets to her growing list of followers.

On the flip side, Elliott’s diving into his podcasting gig. His show, Fifty Shades and Grey, stirs up chats about romance and more with various guests.

    Natalie and Paul

Regarding Natalie and Paul, whose sparks flew during ‘My Mum, Your Dad’, reality hit hard post-show. After the series wrapped, they went public about going separate ways post a summer fling.

Taking to social media, Natalie and Paul expressed gratitude, penning: “Firstly just wanted to say thank you for the overwhelming support from everyone who has watched the show and how invested you have been with our journey. It was an incredible experience and one that we will be forever grateful for taking part in.

“Nat and I had an incredible experience in the retreat and loved every moment, we continued that connection over the summer and had some great times together. Unfortunately in early August we decided to call a day on the relationship. We are both still friends and wish each other the best. Thank you for your continued support and we’re very thankful to @davinamccall @itv @mymumyourdaduk for all we gained from the experience.”

Natalie appears to still be single, focusing on her career by assisting others with ‘relationship recovery’, helping them to ‘heal from trauma and toxic relationships’.

Meanwhile, Paul seems to be enjoying the single life, keeping his followers in the loop with regular updates on his Instagram about his life and work.

    Monique

After sparking a romance with Martin M on My Mum, Your Dad, Monique found herself doubting his sincerity post a revealing chat with her daughter Taiya in the show’s finale. She ultimately decided to break it off with Martin, feeling they weren’t a good match.

Post-show, Monique has taken on the role of ambassador for Ourtime UK, a dating service catering to the over-50 crowd. In a joyous turn of events, she also embraced the role of grandmother when her daughter Taiya gave birth to a little girl named Alora in September 2023.

    Monique

Speaking to OK! about her experience on the show, Monique said: “I’m more confident since I’ve been on the show because I was stuck at home for a very long time with grief, so I just kind of gave up on dating because I thought ‘I’m tired, I don’t want to do it’. But going on the show just gave me the confidence.

“I think everybody should get out of their little comfortable box and get out there because you’ve got one life, one chance so give it a go. I thought if I can get on the show and do what I did, after not seeing the light of day for how many years, I’ve been single for six years. I was on my own for quite a long time.”

    Martin M

Martin M found himself in hot water during his stint on MMYD due to a love triangle involving Monique and Tolullah. He wavered between the two women before finally choosing to explore a relationship with Monique, only for her to call it quits in the finale.

Post-show, Martin M shared with his followers: “#MyMumYourDadUK was an emotional rollercoaster but every day is a learning day and no matter what gets thrown at you it’s important to bounce back stronger and grow as a person. Thanks for all your messages.”

The father of two returned to his life in Ibiza with his sons after the series ended. While he appears to be living the single life, he’s making the most of it by partying on the White Isle and travelling, having recently visited Germany for the Euros.

    Tolullah

Tollulah was caught in a tricky love triangle with Martin M and Monique on My Mum, Your Dad, and unfortunately, her romance fizzled out when Martin chose Monique over her.

But life after the show has been sweet for Tollulah; she recently threw an epic catch-up party for her fellow cast mates, showing off the strong bonds formed on the series. Her Instagram is buzzing with lively updates and clips for her growing fan base.

Despite her romantic fling with Martin not working out, they’ve managed to stay chums post-show. Last year, Martin even played host to Tollulah in Ibiza, where they shared joyful snaps with their followers online.

    Caroline

Meanwhile, Caroline didn’t strike a love connection on My Mum, Your Dad, but she did strike gold in the friendship department. Clayton and she went on a trio of dates during the show but hit it off better as mates.

Caroline and Clayton’s friendship has blossomed; they’ve stuck together since their days on the show, chatting every single day through FaceTime. Caroline spilled the beans about their close kinship to Big Brother alumni Simon Gross, revealing: “I had a third date with Clayton and we had an absolute ball and that date was actually a catalyst for a really great friendship. Clayton and I FaceTime literally every day.”

She added, with a hint of affection, “We got on so well. There’s nothing romantic, between me and Clayton but Clayton’s more my type, than I’m Clayton’s type.”

    Martin H

And let’s not forget Martin H, another memorable face from My Mum, Your Dad, whose own story surely captivated viewers too.

My Mum, Your Dad’s Martin H won over the hearts of viewers during his stint on the show, but unfortunately didn’t find lasting love. He was romantically linked to Tollulah on the programme, but their relationship didn’t stand the test of time.

    Martin Henlan

Following the airing of the show, Martin reached out to fans with a heartfelt message, expressing gratitude for their support and revealing that he had been flooded with date offers. He stated: “My experience has only just begun” and added: “I am particularly touched to hear from those who have found inspiration from my journey, and feel motivated to make some positive changes in their own lives. We are on this journey together! I was just as terrified as I was excited, to be in a situation where I was confronted with my insecurities and lack of confidence.”

Since his appearance on MMYD, Martin has kept a low profile on social media, with his last post dating back to October 2023. However, it’s clear he’s keeping busy with his roles as a sports commentator and managing director of media distributor A Tall Order.

    Clayton

As for Clayton, he didn’t manage to form a connection with anyone on My Mum, Your dad and was eventually voted off by the children. It appears he’s still single, but he continues to keep fans updated via Instagram.

Clayton, who works as the creative director of Congo Sales and is also a youth life coach, revealed in June that he has a song due to be released on Spotify soon. ITV call crisis meeting with Loose Women, GMB, This Morning and Lorraine who are all ‘in trouble’

ITV bosses are said to have called a crisis meeting with its four flagship daytime shows following a huge slump in viewers that’s causing the broadcaster to take drastic measures

Loose Women, Good Morning Britain, This Morning and Lorraine are facing crisis talks as they are hit with a huge slump in viewers.

The daytime shows are facing pay freezes and job losses as ITV bosses try to offset the financial damage caused by a ratings dip. The broadcaster is said to have taken drastic measures as a way to cut costs on some of its biggest shows. It has been reported shorter three-month contracts could be favoured instead of long term deals for staff, while freelances could be cut.

Their annual ITV summer do, which sees the networks biggest stars come together to let their hair down could also be axed. Meetings have reportedly been held by ITV’s daytime boss Emma Gormley to break the news affecting its four flagship shows. Loose Women, Good Morning Britain, This Morning and Lorraine staff are said to have been shown a graph detailing their rapid decline in ratings.

It was compared to the huge viewing figures streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. As reported by The Sun, a source said: “ITV is really tightening their belt. There have been concerns for months at the top but now that it’s trickled down to the shop floor it feels very depressing. A lot of staff are being put on three-month contracts, probably so they can get rid of people easily.”

They claimed pay freezes are already in place and that ITV are trying to keep costs down by “not trialling new talent on regular segments”. It has been reported bosses are hoping ratings will pick up during the UK election campaign. The source added the news is “particularly difficult to stomach” following the costly This Morning relaunch.

An ITV spokesperson told the Mirror: “Town hall meetings happen frequently for teams to keep up to date with company news and also serve as an opportunity for staff to have questions answered. The latest one was to celebrate the success of Lorraine Kelly receiving a BAFTA Special Recognition Award and the two BAFTA nominations for Daytime last weekend. It was also a transparent portrayal of what is currently happening across the industry.”

Brooklyn Beckham was teased by younger brother Cruz as he posted his latest cooking tutorial to Instagram on Thursday.

The amateur chef, 25, posed with beloved dog Lamb while stood at the stove and spoke to the camera to explain he was rustling up risotto.

Taking to the comments section Cruz, 19, joked: ‘For a minute I thought you were going to cook dog risotto xx looks brilliant’.

The eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, went on to skilfully chop onions and garlic before frying  scallops to accompany the dish.

Cutting a casual figure with his baseball cap backwards he later down sat to enjoy the meal giving his thumbs up to the camera.

Earlier this year Brooklyn impressed Michelin star chef Gordon Ramsay as he made a beef wellington with a fillet estimated to be around £120.

He enlisted his Cruz as his sous chef and spared no expense when it came to ingredients for the Instagram tutorial.

After searing the expensive joint of beef fillet, Brooklyn turned to making the mushroom sauce where he generously poured in a glug of $44 Woodinville Bourbon whisky.

He slathered the beef with mustard and wrapped it up in a layer of mushroom pate and parma ham, before Cruz helped wrap it in pastry and add an egg-wash glaze.

A top London butcher told MailOnline: ‘Looking at the piece Brooklyn is cooking with here, I’d guess it’d be around 1.2 kilos of very good beef.

‘Beef fillet is about the most expensive ingredient on the butcher’s counter. This isn’t quite a whole fillet but for a good piece of grass-fed and probably organic beef of that size I’d guess he’d have spent around £120.’

Proud dad David wrote in the comments: ‘So so good boys love u both’ (sic), while Cruz was so pleased, he wrote: ‘Brooklyn and I are opening a beef wellington only shop’.

And Brooklyn even received rare praise from Gordon, 57, who has eight Michelin stars, and is known for his blunt and critical remarks.

Gordon wrote in the comments: ‘That looks great @brooklynbeckham’.

It’s no surprise the TV chef approves of Brooklyn’s recipe as he taught the youngster how to cook a beef wellington.

He said in an interview back in 2015: ‘I actually really enjoy cooking. Gordon Ramsay taught me how to do a great beef wellington.’

Another said: ‘ok we’ve stepped up from the humble cold sandwich – not sure whether someone is helping outside the edit but it looks good we have to give him that’.

When Brooklyn made his TV cooking debut back in 2021, he was ridiculed for making a sandwich.

He baffled Today show viewers with his English breakfast sandwich, a dish that he ‘learned from his great-grandma’.

However, Gordon applauded Brooklyn on his efforts.

Brooklyn’s cooking has come under fire in the past as many have slammed either his simple recipes, use of pricey ingredients or bandied around accusations of nepotism.

In a recent interview with Insider, he insisted he is not fazed by the criticism as he knows himself he is ‘working his bum off’ and ‘cooking makes him happy’.

He said: ‘To be honest, I’m used to the hate. It doesn’t really bother me. Cooking makes me happy. I have more important things to worry about than people saying a little bit of rubbish about me… I’m doing my thing and working my bum off’.

‘My message to them is to keep writing whatever they want to write. There are always going to be people out there who try and pull you down.

‘I’m doing my thing and working my bum off. So they can keep writing what they want, but it’s not going to bother me — I’m just going to keep doing my thing’.

As David and Victoria Beckham celebrate 25 years of marriage, the hilarious reasons why Buckingham Palace was inundated with letters for them… and why the Queen and Philip avoided their thrones at 2012 Jubilee pageant, writes CLAUDIA JOSEPH

Their £1million union was splashed across the pages of OK! magazine and was described as the ‘wedding of the decade’ after it outshone the nuptials of Prince Edward and his bride Sophie Rhys-Jones.

Now, as David and Victoria Beckham celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, it has emerged that Buckingham Palace was inundated with letters for Posh and Becks after they moved into their first marital home.

According to the Spice Girls‘ publicist Alan Edwards, the Royal Mail confused the Beckhams’ love nest Rowneybury – their mansion on the border of Hertfordshire and Essex that was dubbed ‘Beckingham Palace’ – with the monarch’s official London home.

Reflecting on their wedding ceremony ahead of today’s anniversary, he told The Sun: ‘This was a worldwide publicity event, and we knew the interest was akin to that around a royal wedding.

‘In fact, we’d had a complaint from Buckingham Palace saying that they kept getting letters addressed to David and Victoria at Beckingham Palace!’

The marriage even hit the radar of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh: they refused to sit on thrones during the 2012 Jubilee River Pageant in case they looked like the Beckhams, who famously posed on thrones during their 1999 wedding.

When asked why the couple hadn’t sat on the red velvet chairs on the Royal barge, Prince Philip told close friend Gyles Brandreth: ‘Well we’d have looked like Mr and Mrs Beckham, wouldn’t we?’

The Beckhams, who have four children, have mixed in royal circles for more than two decades – since Victoria was a Spice Girl and David was a high-flying footballer.

In 1997, after the death of Princess Diana, Victoria and her fellow Spice Girls joined the then Prince Charles and a star-struck Harry on a royal tour of South Africa to perform a charity concert.

The singer-turned-designer, who gave an interview to The Spectator magazine in which she aired her love of the monarchy, also met the Queen at a Royal Variety show the same year.

And, two years later, she met the Duchess of York when Fergie took Beatrice, then 11, and Eugenie, nine to watch a Spice Girls concert.

At the turn of the century, there were another Royal meet and greet at the Party in the Park, in aid of The Prince’s Trust, when Prince Charles met the couple afterwards.

And, in 2002, at the opening of the Commonwealth Games, David, who was England football captain, handed the baton to the Queen.

Their friendship with the Cambridges began when David, then playing for US team LA Galaxy, was part of the team bidding to host the World Cup.

He travelled with Princes William and Harry to meet FIFA officials in 2010 and, although the bid was unsuccessful, it cemented a friendship with William, who was and remains President of the FA.

The couple went onto be invited to the 2011 wedding of William and Kate, but David made a social faux pas when he wore his OBE on his right lapel rather than his left.

‘We had to pinch ourselves when we got the invite,’ he said afterwards.

‘I’ve become friends with Prince William and Harry as well.

‘We was (sic) brought up to love the Royal Family and when Princess Di was around, the love for her was incredible. The Royal Wedding gave our country a huge lift.’

During Britain’s Olympic year, in 2012, David even teamed up with the Duchess of Cambridge to present the BBC Sports Personality of the Year to cyclist Bradley Wiggins.

But it was their friendship with Fergie and Andrew which caused a real furore.

Having been invited to a tea party at Buckingham Palace for daughter Harper’s sixth birthday in 2017, David posted a photograph on Instagram of the youngster in a Princess Elsa costume from the film Frozen.

Posed in the Palace’s front quadrangle, where photographs are banned, a Palace insider described it as a ‘serious breach of protocol’ and the then Prince Charles was deemed to be ‘seismic with rage’.

However, Charles clearly did not hold a grudge, for he recently appointed Beckham as an ambassador for his charity the King’s Foundation.

The King gave Beckham a tour of his beloved Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, where the pair swapped beekeeping tips.

The move increased speculation that Beckham’s long-held dream of a knighthood might soon be a reality.

OMG | Amid Meghan Markle’s ‘horrifying’ scandal, everyone laughed out loud because what Meghan is suffering is a ‘self-slap’ for what she imposed on Princess Kate…

Meghan Markle seems to be trying to mend her broken relationship with Princess Kate, with one royal expert claiming she has “reached out several times”.

The Princess of Wales has been caught up in a Photoshop scandal after fans spotted “errors” with a sweet family snap she released on Mother’s Day. Kate smiled alongside her three children in the picture, but fans were convinced it had been altered and rushed to social media to share their theories.

Princess Kate then admitted to editing the snap and apologised for causing any “confusion”. Now, royal author Tom Quinn has said Meghan is using the chaos as her chance to reach out to Kate.

He told The Mirror: “Meghan has reached out several times via back channels to Kensington Palace in an attempt to see if there is any chance of getting on better terms with Kate. This is definitely partly because Meghan is genuinely worried about Kate’s health, but she also sees a chance to lose her permanently angry-at-the-royals image.”

However, it’s unclear whether Meghan’s attempts at a reunion will pay off. Tom explained: “Kate won’t want to be seen to rebuff these overtures, but she will be taking advice and the advice so far, I hear, is definitely – don’t take the risk.

“The feeling in Kensington Palace is that if Meghan’s attempts to extend an olive branch are welcomed, it will just re-open old wounds.” His comments come after another expert urged Meghan to speak out in defence of her sister-in-law.

Meghan Markle made one particular move which was dubbed as a ‘huge snub’ to Princess William and Princess Kate.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry once made an “unprecedented” move regarding their son, Prince Archie’s birth certificate which was dubbed as a major “snub” to the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The Duchess of Sussex altered Archie’s birth certificate just days after his birth was officially registered.

According to the Sun, the birth certificate was altered to show his mother as “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex” instead of the original “Rachel Meghan”.

Harry and Meghan’s eldest child was born on May 6, 2019, with his birth registered 11 days later before the amendment was made on June 5.

The outlet at the time reported that this was a “snub” to Prince William and Princess Kate, who used Kate’s names on their children’s certificates.

It also suggested the intention was to place Meghan on an equal footing with Prince Harry’s mother Princess Diana, who would always use “Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales”.

However, a spokesman for the Sussexes insisted that the move was “dictated by The Palace” and not “requested” by Meghan nor Harry.

Just days after the change, Harry and Meghan left the Royal Foundation – the so-called Fab Four’s joint charity – and months later they quit their royal duties and moved to the US.

Meanwhile, Lady Colin Campbell, who spotted the amendment, said: “It is extraordinary and raises all kinds of questions about what the Sussexes were thinking.”

Fans were left feeling unimpressed by Prince Harry’s comments comparing his wife Meghan Markle to the late Princess Diana of Wales.

Many fans believe Meghan Markle differs significantly from Princess Diana despite Prince Harry’s favourable comparisons made in his bombshell Netflix documentary titled ‘Harry & Meghan’, released in December 2022.

Speaking of his wife, who Harry married in May 2018, he told documentary makers: “So much of what Meghan is, and how she is, is so similar to my mum.”

He further explained: “She has the same compassion, she has the same empathy, she has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her.”

As he spoke, the episode featured clips of Meghan and Diana intertwined. A clip of Diana holding a young Harry on her hip as she walked behind Prince William played before a clip showing Meghan and the couple’s son Archie, holding hands and running in a garden.

However, fans on social media, have opposed his views and doubted the comparisons. User @RCaron67 wrote: “Meghan wants to be loved like Diana without having any of the qualities that made her relatable.”

Whereas user, @thutmose4th joked: “This makes me want to throw up…”

Another offered a slight balance of opinion: “I assume he sees more than we see through private interaction. That said, I do not see a comparison between the People’s Princess and the Hollywood Actress. It is genuine compassion versus narcissism.”

Despite the criticism fans made in the comparison, the Netflix documentary also tugged at fans’ heartstrings as Meghan Markle carried a baby Prince Archie on her hip, pointing to a picture of Diana in his nursery and saying “That’s your grandma, Diana”.

Commenting on the sweet interaction, one fan said: “Got so choked up watching Archie touch his Grandma Diana’s hand in the photo, and speaking his Baby talk talk to his beloved GRAND MAMA.”

Diana died in a car accident in Paris in 1997, when she was 36 years old and Harry was only 12 years old at the time of her death.

The crash has been blamed on paparazzi, who had been following the princess while driving through Paris. It also resulted in the deaths of Dodi Fayed, and her chauffeur, Henri Paul.

Prince Harry has previously claimed that men in the royal family have a “temptation or urge to marry someone who fits in the mould, as opposed to somebody who you are perhaps destined to be with”.

He added: “The difference between making decisions with your head, or your heart. And my mum [Diana] made most of her decisions, if not all of them, from her heart. And I am my mother’s son.”

The Beeb had reported that a senior Buckingham Palace source confirmed Harry “never asked” his grandmother about using her personal nickname for the newborn.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had earlier told the BBC via close sources that Harry, 36, did, in fact, speak to the Queen and “would have mentioned the name” to his grandmother.

And in a swift and aggressive rebuttal to the BBC’s report, Harry threatened to sue for libel through London law firm Schillings.

A spokesman for Harry insisted he “spoke with his family in advance of the birth announcement” and the Queen was “the first family member he called”.

They added: “During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.”

    QUEEN WAS ‘SUPPORTIVE’

Sources last night told The Sun there was “irritation” from the Palace at claims by Harry and wife Meghan’s camp that they had told the 95-year-old monarch in advance about the tribute.

The source added Harry “never asked” the Queen for permission, saying: “A phone call was made before the public announcement — but the question was never asked. The news was simply presented to the Queen.”

The Sussexes said the Queen was “supportive” of the idea and would have made clear if she was not happy.

However, a source said: “There was irritation that Harry and Meghan insisted in public that it was done by the book. But as far as the Palace was concerned, it wasn’t.”

Harry and Meghan have firmly denied the BBC’s claims.

The legal letter followed counter-briefings from Harry and Meghan through journalist ally Omid Scobie, author of their bombshell biography Finding Freedom.

Mr Scobie said the couple would not have used the name Lilibet for their daughter unless the Queen had supported the move.

Legal experts say Harry would have the upper hand in court.

Media lawyer Mark Stephens said: “He would have been defamed simply by being called a liar.

“In terms of who would win a legal battle, the Queen cannot be compelled to give evidence so the BBC would be having to rely on a confidential source who would be unlikely to come forward.

“You then have Harry who would say he had first-hand knowledge of the conversation because it was he who spoke to his grandmother.”

The row followed Sunday’s announcement that Harry and Meghan, 39, would be calling their second child Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

In terms of who would win a legal battle, the Queen cannot be compelled to give evidence so the BBC would be having to rely on a confidential source.

The baby, born in California on Friday, shares the nickname Prince Philip called his wife for more than 70 years.

It was first given to Her Majesty by her father King George VI when young Elizabeth struggled to pronounce her name properly.

    ‘DEEPLY PERSONAL’

Royal experts suggested using the Queen’s personal nickname would have upset the monarch as it is “deeply personal” to her.

Royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell reckoned the Queen reacted with “cold fury”.

She added: “It’s a ravagement of the Queen’s privacy and identity.”

Meanwhile Angela Levin, author of Prince Harry: Conversations with the Prince, suggested the Duke could have held a conversation about names with the Queen — but only given “half information”.

She said: “If you think back to the Oprah chat he did about mental health, he started working with her in 2019 when he was still in the Royal Family.

Legal experts say Harry would have the upper hand in court

“He asked the Queen for permission and she gave it on the understanding the programme was about the Invictus Games — damaged and wounded military men and women and talking about their mental health.

“But what actually happened is he was vile about his own family.

“Harry gives out half the information so the Queen says yes, and then he diverts.

“What he likely said is that he’d like to name the baby after her and she would have said ‘how lovely’, thinking it would be Elizabeth as a first or middle name. Prince William had done as much with Princess Charlotte.

“But I can’t imagine for a second he specifically said ‘Lilibet’ and she allowed it. It’s a huge invasion of her privacy.”

It is the latest souring of relations between Buckingham Palace officials and the Sussexes since they quit the Royal Family last year for the US with son Archie, two.

Tensions boiled over following an Apple TV interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, when Harry and Meghan alleged they suffered racism and neglect while part of the Royal Family.

Harry’s legal threats to the BBC come weeks after he and Prince William blasted the corporation for its treatment of their mother.

    The Sun says

“PRINCE Harry is coming across like a typical f***ing woke snowflake, f***ing a***hole. Just don’t be f***ing dissing your family because there’s no need for it.”

No, it’s not an official statement from Buckingham Palace. Nor the words of Prince William. They’re from national treasure Noel Gallagher.

William may have said something similar in private. We cannot know.
Likewise we can only guess exactly what was said when Harry contacted the Queen, apparently to ask consent to bestow her highly personal nickname Lilibet on his new daughter.

He and Meghan insist that if Her Maj had said No they’d have thought again. OK. But a senior Palace source claims to the BBC that’s not so. That they never really sought her permission.

We all know “recollections may vary”. But is it really plausible the Californian Oprah-botherers just made this one up?

Why won’t the Palace officially back their version of events?

A damning report concluded Beeb journalist Martin Bashir, 58, had forged bank statements to secure his exclusive 1995 interview with Princess Diana, two years before she died in a car crash.

Prince William, 38, slammed the BBC, insisting the failings “not only let my mother down, and my family down; they let the public down”.

Meanwhile, younger brother Harry also blasted the Corporation, saying: “Our mother lost her life because of this.”

The extraordinary revelations were revealed in an extract from her book Meghan And Harry: The Real Story.

As reported by Femail, Lady Colin said a source told her Meghan “froze out” other guests at the wedding of Prince Harry’s pal Charlie Van Straubenzee to Daisy Jenks.

In the new book, Lady Colin writes: “A girl went up to Meghan, introduced herself, and said how beautiful she thought she was. She said she knew it was Meghan’s birthday and wished her a happy birthday.

“Meghan looked at her as if she had committed a great faux pas by speaking to her and walked off.

    “It was so cold.”

Lady Colin quotes “someone who witnessed the exchange” as saying it was “really rude”.

The royal author continues that a “worse” encounter happened at the wedding breakfast when another girl told Meghan how much she admired her.

Lady Colin writes: “She told her [Meghan] she was rooting for them and wished them well. Meghan’s response? She looked her up and down, turned away without saying a word.”

It is not known if Lady Colin, who penned the 1992 biography, Diana in Private: The Princess Nobody Knows, has ever met the royal couple.

Her unofficial biography comes ahead of Harry and Meghan’s new biography Finding Freedom in August, written by Omid Scobie.

Lady Colin claimed to Page Six that Harry will be “too weak” to leave Meghan, and the former Suits actress has “caused him to lose most of his friends”.

Page Six reports an extract of the book says: “She’s [Meghan] a total opportunist.

“She knew in advance she’d embark on commercial ventures, which royalty strictly forbids.”

It continues: “She now has what she wanted — a millionaire’s life in Hollywood. She’s caused Harry to lose most of his friends.

“He’s weaker than she. He’s run ragged. Despite the sex, she will make his life miserable. He has no strength of character to leave her.”

This week, Lady Colin appeared on This Morning, and claimed Meghan wants to “run for President” of the United States in the bizarre interview.

Speaking to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby live from her home, Lady C said: “That is what she told people.

“She’s told people her ultimate ambition is to run for President.

“And she announced last week that she is going into politics, notwithstanding the fact that no member of the British royal family is allowed to enter politics.”
