TV legend Gloria Hunniford has shared an anxious health update with fans after a recent scare.

The Loose Women legend appeared on the ITV show on Wednesday after being rushed to hospital over the festive period with kidney stones.

Gloria, 82, admitted she is worried about ageing for the first time in her life while chatting to the panel, before confessing her recent hospital experience has made her anxious about her health.

As the Loose Women ladies began discussing the proposed plans to raise the retirement age in the UK, Gloria began saying: “Retirement isn’t in my vocabulary. But I do understand a lot of people look forward to their retirement.

“But for me, I like work, I think it keeps the brain ticking over and I met lovely people like you and the audience. For me, I like it and it just depends on what job you do and if you like it or not.”

The TV legend then joked to co-star Denise Welch: “We go from saying Gloria fell down to Gloria had a fall.”

Gloria continued to reveal: “On quite a serious note, I was quite sick over the Christmas period with kidney stones.”

She admitted it’s “the first” time she’s ever worried about growing old, adding: “I haven’t been anxious about it as I am still doing what I have been doing since I was about 20 or 30 years old.

“But it was the first time ever [at Christmas] I sat on my chair watching TV and I thought, ‘Is this what it is going to be like?’

“But do you know what? I have forgotten about that now.”

The Loose Women panel praised Gloria for speaking open and honestly about her fears.

Last year, Gloria shared how she still suffers nightmares after her horrific fall that left her with a broken eye socket and gruesome leg injuries.

The presenter tripped over a rug and crashed on to a wooden floor, leaving her with severe bruising on her leg that was wrapped in bandages for several weeks.

Speaking about her accident in June, Gloria said: “I’m getting there after my fall but I am not quite back to my usual self.

“I really took a battering and I broke the bone that holds my eye socket in place – my left leg is still in bandages.

ITV)“But, fortunately, most of the bruising has gone and one of the make-up girls has found a potion that works a treat. I tripped over a rug and went down on a floor that was as hard as concrete.

“I still have nightmares about the terrible smack I made going down.”

Following her accident, Gloria, who has been married to her second husband Stephen Way since 1998, pulled the plug on her usual summer holiday in the South of France that year.

Broadcaster Katie Piper is to explore life behind bars for women and babies in a moving documentary, after revealing she’s been working as a volunteer in women’s prisons

Katie Piper will be delivering a new documentary from the United States, focusing on life behind bars for women who are pregnant.

The broadcaster has been volunteering in female prisons for several years and has explained she has a deep interest in the subject.

Now, the Loose Women star, 39, has partnered with W Channel to launch Katie Piper: Babies Behind Bars, which will see her throw herself into the US prison system.

During the five-part series, the star will discover the similarities and differences between prisons across the States as well as the UK.

Speaking about her previous experience, Katie said: “I have worked as a volunteer in female prisons for many years now, so I already have an intense & vested interest in the subject.”

While reflecting on her new show which she will start filming next month, Katie added: “I am thrilled to be working with the W Channel in 2023. I have always had a strong interest in real-life documentary formats and Piper Behind Bars is already proving to be a fascinating project.

“I have no idea what to expect when I’m across the Atlantic, but that’s the magic of a documentary. I can’t wait to see how this project unfolds.”

During her new project, Katie will meet with women who are coming to terms with being pregnant and what being behind bars could mean for their children.

She will also delve into how women are treated in prison while pregnant and how they cope with having to give their children up in order to complete their stretch.

Sophie Morgan was furious when she found her wheelchair had been ‘destroyed’ after checking it in for a flight, forcing her to sit on an aisle chair that was ‘not safe’

Loose Women star Sophie Morgan says she was left stranded after airport staff ‘destroyed’ her wheelchair.

The presenter and disability advocate, 37, said she “landed at Heathrow with a bang” after finding her chair had been ‘damaged’.

Taking to Instagram sharing a video of the chair, which Sophie had checked in from Los Angeles, she said: “Someone – no one took responsibility – decided to attach my wheelchair and my batec (battery-powered attachment) whilst in transit (they were checked in separately, in two parts, unattached) and they have done so a. without my permission and b. COMPLETELY WRONG.

“It took over half an hour to ‘break’ them apart, all that time I had to sit on an aisle chair which was NOT safe and I didn’t know if I would be able to get back into my chair.”

Sophie said she was eventually able to get back into her chair after the batec was broken apart, but said it was not safe, adding she’d found further damage.

She continued: “And what was I told to do by British Airways? Send an email via the website.

“This has GOT TO STOP. Thousands of chairs are damaged every year by airlines. It’s just #planewrong.”

The post was met with a flurry of support from Sophie’s followers, with one person replying: “This makes me so angry. As a physio we encourage our clients to go live life, travel but this just highlights why so many wheelchair users are afraid to travel. Showing such little respect for an individuals belongings is just unimaginable and unacceptable.”

When contacted by the Mirror, BA said: “We’re extremely sorry for Sophie’s experience and we’re investigating what happened as a matter of urgency. We’ve been in contact with Sophie to sincerely apologise and to resolve the matter with her directly.

“We carry hundreds of thousands of customers who require additional assistance each year and we work hard to provide help and support them throughout the whole journey. It’s extremely disheartening when things go wrong, and we don’t underestimate the impact this has.

Speaking about what it’s like to “wake up with a different body” following a life-changing accident, Sophie explained she sometimes feels like she has lived two different lives.

“Non-disabled and disabled are very different experiences,” she began telling OK! magazine.

“It does feel like two different lives. The person I became after my injury is very different to the person I was. I’ve grown up, obviously, as I was a kid, but those two realities, personalities, identities definitely feel very split.”

Asked whether she would go back in time and warn herself not to get behind the wheel that day, the presenter pointed out the answer wasn’t straightforward.

“Anyone who has had trauma in their lives that hasn’t killed them but has made them stronger can relate, I think,” she said.

“You don’t know if you would go back and change the course of events, because if you did then you wouldn’t be where you are.”

Austin Butler and David Beckham flexed their muscles for a good deed.

The Elvis actor, 31, and the former soccer star, 48, joined forces — along with several other guys including Beckham’s 18-year-old son Cruz — to lift a large tree that had fallen onto the road in Muskoka, Ontario, preventing drivers from getting through.

Beckham’s wife, Victoria Beckham, captured the heroic moment in a video shared on her Instagram page on Sunday. The group could be seen holding the tree above their heads to allow a large black SUV to proceed down the road. “Okay, so they’re lifting so the cars can go through. Excellent. Nice work, boys,” the fashion designer, 49, said off-camera as she cheered them on.

“Did u ever think u would see Elvis and Beckham lifting a tree?? Helping the community in Muskoka 🌲 😂. I’m impressed gentleman! Kisses,” Victoria wrote in the post’s caption.

Victoria also shared footage of the men lifting the tree on her Instagram Story, and she couldn’t help but gush about her husband. “There’s a tree that has fallen down, and look how manly my husband is. David looking very manly. Push harder — come on guys,” she said.

The reason why Beckham and Butler were in Canada together was not included in Victoria’s post. However, it seems the tree-hoisting happened before the Beckhams traveled to Texas to watch Inter Miami take on FC Dallas in a Leagues Cup match on Sunday. Beckham is a co-owner of Miami’s MLS team.

David posted a snapshot on Instagram showing him, Victoria, and their kids Romeo, 20, and Harper, 12, posing together inside Toyota Stadium. “WOW what a night in Dallas… Thank you for the love,” he captioned the family photo.

Meghan, we’re told, is too busy with the American Riviera, her lifestyle website that hasn’t sold anything since its launch in March.

She’s also busy with her cooking series for Netflix, which is coming out very soon, so she’s likely involved in that as well.

The fact that Meghan is staying behind has led to speculation about the state of their marriage. Is it as solid as we think?

Perhaps it’s on the rocks. Harry might be feeling homesick, wanting to see his friends and pursue the forlorn dream of apologizing to the King and mending relationships.

However, it’s doubtful this will work. It’s unlikely William will ever talk to him again. The interesting part is that if this story is true, Harry will spend a significant amount of time apart from his wife, who won’t accompany him.

Meghan is reportedly very busy but also worried about being heckled and pursued by the British public, who no longer adore her. She loves being popular, but she isn’t popular in Britain anymore.

Kinsey, what do you make of all this?

Kinsey: Well, I live south of Harry and Meghan in Los Angeles, and I often hear that Prince Harry is homesick and doesn’t necessarily love the culture here in the States.

He misses some of his old friends. But, Kevin, it’s quite karmic that Prince Harry has spent the last four years complaining about a family that didn’t compromise to ensure his happiness, that were stubborn in their ways and unwilling to make sacrifices.

Yet, he married someone similar. The report suggests Meghan isn’t willing to bend to ensure his happiness either.

If Harry is happiest doing Invictus in Birmingham or spending the summer in the UK trying to mend fences, wouldn’t he want his significant other, the person he sacrificed everything for, to be there? It would help change the direction of these relationships.

If this story is true, coming from Closer Magazine, it would be very disappointing for Prince Harry.

Having made the same move myself, from London to Los Angeles, I know it’s a big adjustment. Many British people think moving to Los Angeles will be similar because they speak the same language, but the culture is very different.

I think Harry might be realizing that on a large scale.

Kevin: What we’ve been subjected to for the past four years feels like an extended teenage sulk from a middle-aged father of two. It’s like a never-ending soap opera. If Harry and Meghan want this to stop, they should probably stop doing interviews to complain about things that happened years ago.

They need to focus on the future and the opportunities they have. They lead very blessed lives, filled with wealth and privilege. Harry should be grateful every day and thank his lucky stars. He doesn’t seem to realize he won the lottery in life; instead, he thinks he’s lost it.
