It was supposed to be a routine taping of the popular daytime talk show “Live with Kelly and Mark,” but tensions were high as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, made an unexpected appearance on set. What started as an excited surprise for fans quickly turned into an uncomfortable confrontation between the former actress and co-host Mark Consuelos.

The drama began when Meghan Markle, who had not been scheduled to appear, suddenly walked onto the stage during a commercial break. Audience members watched in stunned silence as the royal family member approached the desk where Consuelos was reviewing notes for the next segment.

“Megan, what are you doing here?” Consuelos said sternly, not even attempting to hide his annoyance. “This is our show. Eamonn addressed his split with Ruth on the Monday after news of their divorce was revealed on the last weekend in May. Hosting the GB News breakfast show with Isabel Webster, the star, still wearing his wedding ring, said: “Before we move on, I would just like to thank people for their support for Ruth and I over the past few days. Your support, from both of us, is very much appreciated.”

Following his announcement, Eamonn’s legion of loyal fans flocked to Twitter, telling the dad-of-four how saddened they were by the news, with many saying they thought the former couple had an ‘unbreakable bond’.

‘Blindsided’ by split

Despite being back at work the day after the breakup was announced, Eamonn was reportedly left “blindsided” and “furious” by his estranged wife’s announcement of their split back in May. As the television presenter thanked his fans for their support on GB News following the revelation they had separated after 27 years, friends of the star said he was “angry and baffled” at her Ruth’s decision to share the news.

A friend of Eamonn’s told the Mail: “Eamonn was left blindsided, it was awful for him. He literally found out about it a very short time before it was published – you’re talking hours.”

‘Not ok’

Eamonn opened up for the first time about the effects of his divorce from Ruth at the TRIC Awards in June, telling the Mirror: “I’m not OK. This is not a good time at all.”

The star spoke to us at the awards, where he was nominated in the Best News Presenter category, as well as Best News Broadcast. It was the first time solo for Eamonn at the star-studded event, with Ruth giving the bash a notably wide berth.

Living on ‘borrowed time’

Struggling with chronic back pain, which saw him require a high-tech wheelchair at the ceremony, Eamonn also admitted feeling as if he is on “borrowed time”, as his father died at the age of 65 from a fatal heart attack in 1991.

The presenter has battled multiple heath issues over the past few years, before his split with Ruth was announced. Speaking to the Mirror, he admitted he had considered pulling out of attending as he had been in so much pain. However, his new high tech equipment allowed him to be more comfortable. Admitting he was in two minds about attending the event, he said: “I wasn’t going to come, but I’ve got this new chair with all these gadgets.”

Hopes they can still be friends

Veteran TV host Eamonn, is reportedly leaning on several female friends in the wake of his split from Ruth. The Northern Irishman said he hoped to remain on good terms with his soon-to-be ex-spouse, despite the Loose Women star staying silent, up until now, about their relationship.

According to Best magazine, when asked about Ruth, Eamonn responded, “It’s too early to say, but I hope we can still be friends.” Reflecting on the end of the couple’s 14-year marriage, the star also spoke about his future with his estranged wife at the TRIC Awards, repeating: “It’s too early to say, but I hope we can still be friends.”

Miriam Margolyes caused nervous laughter in the Loose Women studio after she unexpectedly swore live on the ITV programme.

The Harry Potter actor, 83, had been discussing her new memoir, Oh Miriam, on the daytime talkshow, hosted by Kaye Adams, Denise Welch, Olivia Attwood-Dack and Nadie Sawalha, when the profanity slipped out.

Margolyes is known for speaking her mind during live broadcasts and previously caused controversy when she claimed Harry Potter fans need to “grow up” live on ABC News Australia.

Speaking to Kaye Adams on Loose Women on Thursday morning (4 July), Margolyes revealed she had chosen to write a book at this point of her career “because they paid me”.

When Adams asked Margolyes: “Can they pay you to do anything, Miriam?” the star responded with an inappropriate phrase that was immediately bleeped out.

After Welch clasped her hands to her mouth in shock and Adams shook her head in disbelief, Margolyes asked: “Am I allowed to say that? Oh dear.”

Rephrasing her response to where she draws the line when it comes to earning money, the actor explained: “I wouldn’t eat faeces.”

The on-air blunder comes after Margolyes recently revealed she makes a significant amount of money on the personalised video service Cameo.

The Harry Potter actor said she charges £100 to send a video message to one of her fans and has been inundated with requests.

“Sometimes, I’m asked to cheer up someone with terminal cancer. This is not easy,” she said. “Sometimes I’m asked to propose to somebody on behalf of the person who’s paying me.”

“I enjoy it. I do as many as I can. And I charge £100 and I’ve made an enormous amount of money. I’m not ashamed of that. I think that’s perfectly fair.”

The actor, who claims she is a socialist, added: “Don’t think I don’t like money – I love money. I love it and I want as much of it as I can get.”

When asked if she needed to continue her lucrative Cameo career, Margolyes said: “Of course. I want it all.”

Martin Lewis’ BBC podcast tackled some household debates between couples regarding their finances this week, from whose credit card to pay off first to being pulled in as a “Judge Judy” mediating feuds over luxury spending. However, one common query saw the Money Saving Expert uncovering one of the biggest “financial sins” in his opinion.

While the MSE founder was dishing out advice for those facing some financial “marital disharmony”, Gethin Jones, the guest on this week’s Martin Lewis Podcast, started to pick up on a “theme”. He explained that a few couples seemed to be disagreeing over if they should “be loyal to certain banks or utility providers”.

Without hesitation, the finance expert urged households to disregard their loyalty whenever possible, warning: “Financial loyalty tends to be a financial sin.”

Martin urged people to instead be clinical in looking at the products rather than who is offering them as a single company will rarely be the best option across multiple product offerings. Explaining how he managed his finances with this in mind, he shared: “ I personally always focus on the product and not the provider.

“I look at the product, I don’t really care who it’s with, and I go with the product that’s best rather than going with the same bank or organisation. What you want to do is have the best buys in all different product categories. They often do not reward existing customers, existing customers get worse deals,” he claimed.

With a bit of optimism, Martin admitted that certain sectors are “moving a little bit” away from this structure but claimed the general outlook at the moment is: “Loyalty tends not to pay,” and emphasised that it’s “best to go around and find which product is best”.

A friend of Ruth told The Mirror: “It has been a tough few weeks but now she feels it is time for her to get back to Loose Women.

“It is a job she loves doing and even though the split has been very tough, life must go on.

“Just don’t expect any big news or revelations about the divorce, she wants to keep that private.”

1997 – The couple first meet after being introduced by mutual friends, two years after Eamonn splits from his first wife, Gabrielle, with whom he has three children.

1997-2002 – To be respectful to Gabrielle, the couple kept their relationship out of the limelight. Ruth told Daily Mail: “I thought it spoke volumes about the sort of man he was, the sort of father he was and the integrity he had. It made me love him more, not less.”

2002 – Ruth and Eamonn welcome their son, Jack, to the family.

September 2022 – Eamonn undergoes spinal surgery after years of back issues including a trapped sciatic nerve.

November 2022 – Eamonn falls down the stairs of his Surrey home with Ruth and breaks his shoulder, requiring a new operation.
