Prince Harry delivered a furious eight-word remark after hearing King Charles had banned Meghan Markle from heading to Balmoral after the late Queen’s death.

As the world learnt of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, further tensions behind closed doors among the royals reportedly began to unfold.

Many members of the Royal Family began to arrive at the Scottish royal residence after the late Queen’s death on September 8, 2022. Harry claimed in his memoir Spare that while he had been invited by King Charles to spend time with the family, his father had explained to him that his wife the Duchess of Sussex was not welcome to Balmoral Castle in that moment of mourning.

King Charles and Princess Anne are said to have been the only two people at the late Queen’s side as she took her final breath on September 8 two years ago at 3.10pm.

Prince William arrived by car at Balmoral at 5.06pm that day, while Harry travelled to the castle separately and arrived after his brother.

A statement released on X at 1.53pm on the day the 96-year-old monarch died said both Harry and Meghan would be making their way to Balmoral as the late Queen’s health was declining.

However, in his memoir Spare, Harry recalled his wife didn’t accompany him to the Scottish estate.

Harry wrote in his book that he received a phone call from his father who, according to the prince, said that he “didn’t want” Meghan to be present.

In the book, Harry wrote: “He [King Charles] said I was welcome at Balmoral, but he didn’t want…her. He started to lay out his reason, which was nonsensical, and disrespectful, and I wasn’t having it.”

In a eight-word remark, Harry that shared that he told his father: “‘Don’t ever speak about my wife that way.’”

Harry continued: “He stammered, apologetic, saying he simply didn’t want a lot of people around.

“No other wives were coming, [Princess] Kate wasn’t coming, he said, therefore Meg shouldn’t. Then that’s all you needed to say. By now it was midafternoon; no more commercial flights that day to Aberdeen. And I still had no response from Willy. My only option, therefore, was a charter out of Luton. I was on board two hours later.”

Royal expert Robert Jobson, speaking to the Daily Telegraph Australia, claimed after the death of the late Queen that King Charles had asked William not to bring Kate to Balmoral, so that Meghan couldn’t come. The expert said: “If Catherine doesn’t come, Meghan can’t either, it’s not appropriate for wives to attend.”

The Duchess of Edinburgh was a vision in purple as she cheered from the crowds at the track cycling event in Paris yesterday.

The 59-year-old is currently in the French capital to soak up the excitement of the 2024 Olympic Games, with her travelling to follow Princess Anne’s appearance last week.

The Duchess, who is patron of the British Cycling Federation, looked delighted to be in attendance, with many royal fans expressed their interest in her outfit choice – the ‘Roisin’ purple floral-print midi dress from Erdem, which retails for £1,198.

Taking to @remisagoodboy’s post on X, fans pointed out how much they loved her look – especially at how “perfect” the dress was.

One fan commented: “This dress is perfect”, with another adding, “I love that dress; the colour is gorgeous [red-heart emoji].”

Prince Edward’s wife was also spotted joining spectators at the Men’s Hockey Quarter-Final on Sunday, August 4. After her first appearance in Paris, many fans discussed their delight to see Sophie supporting Team GB.

One fan took to social media to comment: “The Duchess of Edinburgh is one of the most amazing members of the Royal Family, she has worked behind the scenes for so many years with very little acknowledgement and now it is her time to shine, as a Duchess (with the title her and Edward deserve).”

Meghan Markle once made a key gesture during an outing with Prince Harry which was described as a bold statement to her fans by a body language expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been at the centre of discussions in the last year over their different business ventures as well as their ongoing rift with the Royal Family.

Just last year, the couple were evicted from their UK home, Frogmore Cottage, following Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare.

In June the Palace confirmed that the couple had “vacated Frogmore Cottage”.

The cottage was originally a gift to the couple from Harry’s grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth, and their last remaining foothold in the UK after their move to the US in 2020.

Just weeks later, Harry and Meghan made their first appearance since the eviction took place.

They were spotted exiting an office in Santa Barbara, where they now reside, while they were also pictured celebrating July 4.

At the time, body language expert Judi James analysed their appearance and highlighted how strong their bond is.

She told the Mirror: “The car photos do appear to suggest the hand-holding ritual is still alive and well (although the hands themselves are hidden their arm positioning does suggest the gesture ends in a clasp).

“Her [Meghan’s] wide smile when she is with Harry looks like a statement, a social gesture to let fans know her life is still happy and perfect, although his expression is a bit more muted.”

The body language expert added: “On July 4 [2023], the couple looks pretty much like any couple with their kids.

“Meghan is clearly enhancing the experience for Lilibet, even kneeling on one knee in light-coloured trousers as she encourages her daughter to enjoy the parade.

“This seems to be a group expedition though and Harry is standing, leaning to talk to someone else. It’s the kind of thing most couples with kids do, it only looks different for Harry and Meghan because we’re used to seeing them in blissful cuddle-bundles rather than even a few feet apart.”

One property expert has claimed that Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice’s key inheritance is in doubt.

Despite being given HRH Princess titles following their births back in 1988 and 1990, Prince Andrew’s two daughters are not official working members of the Royal Family.

Speaking to one property expert, Beatrice and Eugenie’s “refusal” to perform royal duties means that they could complicate things when it comes to their inheritance – although, as non-working royals, they are not expected to take on any official royal duties.

Although the King is said to be eager to evict their father – Prince Andrew – from Royal Lodge, it is believed disgraced 64-year-old wants to leave the property as an inheritance for Beatrice, who turns 36 on Thursday, and Eugenie, 34.

The Apprentice candidate and owner of Golden Key Estates, Raj Chohan said: “Prince Andrew has expressed wishes to hand the property down to his daughters.”

He added: “For now, this is still part of the Crown Estate and the board of directors would decide the long-term plans.

“In a form of inheritance for the country, siblings get equal shares in all assets.

“Regarding Beatrice and Eugenie, I believe this will be the case especially as there is no son to the heir. This is made further complicated as both daughters have refused to take on royal duties perhaps due to being young mothers.”

Princess Eugenie shares two sons – August, three, and Ernest, one – with her husband, Jack Brooksbank. Meanwhile, Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcomed a daughter named Sienna in September 2021. She is also a doting stepmother to Edoardo’s eight-year-old son, Wolfie.

Property expert Natalie Mitchell from Home How recently said that Royal Lodge “can only pass to named members of [Andrew’s] immediate family”.

Adding that it would belong to the King during his reign, she said: “The ownership and leasing of property in the Crown Estate differs from that of normal residential homes.

“As part of the Crown Estate, Royal Lodge technically belongs to the current monarch. So, it belongs to King Charles for as long as he reigns. Ownership would then pass onto Prince William as he’s next in line to the throne. No part of the Crown Estate can be sold, that’s why a lease was agreed for Royal Lodge instead.”

The Strictly Come Dancing star told Charly, now 20, she was 10 years younger when she was a kid – only for her daughter’s friend to find out the truth on Google.

Kaye confessed her real age when Charly turned 10 and the presenter was approaching her 50th birthday.

However, the plucky Scot is now 60 – and celebrated proudly today.

Marking the milestone with panellists Denise Welch, Coleen Nolan and Kelle Bryan, Kaye was showered with well wishes from her colleagues.

As Coleen pointed out her pal was “notoriously cagey” about her age, Kaye entered the studio sporting a birthday sash.

Jonathan Ross, 62, has shed light on his daughter Betty’s fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and POTS syndrome. He said how she is having treatment and is showing improvement

Jonathan Ross has spoken about his daughter Betty’s fibromyalgia diagnosis, adding that she has had a “tough couple of years”.

The talk show host explained how his daughter, 30, is using an electric wheelchair and has struggled with depression as she battles the syndrome.

Speaking on Loose Women, Jonathan told Kaye Adams, Frankie Bridge, Dame Kelly Holmes and Denise Welch: “She has fibromyalgia and she has chronic fatigue syndrome and POTS syndrome as well, which is where your heart rate shoots up.”

Explaining Betty’s current treatment, he added: “We found a good… there’s a thing called the Perrin treatment. The guy who invented it, he came to talk to me about it and she looked it up online because she’s a smart young woman, so she has to want to do the treatment.

He did share some good news however: “I can’t just say to her ‘try this, try that’ if she thinks it’s wrong in some way and if she’s not going to enter it one hundred percent, of course it’s not worth doing.

“But we’ve been having that treatment going on and she’s definitely showing some improvement.”

Betty’s illness has affected the rest of the family too: “She still can’t walk very far. We got her an electric wheelchair in the summer, so we can at least go out and go for walks with the dogs and that’s lifted her spirits a lot.

“Because that’s the problem, if anyone out there who knows or who’s got someone with a long term illness, you know, it’s the depression.

“So if we’re going out we have to give her plenty of time to get ready, get downstairs and then have a rest before we go to the next step, you know.”

He explained how her illness has had an impact on the whole family

“It does have an impact but the good news is she’s definitely showing improvement and feeling better in herself. So we’re relieved and we’re happy with that.”

Kaye sympathised with Jonathan, and said: “As a parent you just want to fix your children, don’t you?”

He honestly admitted: “I’m terrible at that as well, even if my wife [Jane Goldman] tells me something’s wrong in her day, I have to try and remind myself that sometimes I just need to listen.

“Because as soon as she tells me something, I go ‘Well, I’ll phone this guy and I’ll do this’ and she goes ‘Okay, I don’t… I’m not interested, I just wanted to tell you I had this bad day.’

“So I really struggle and I have to remind myself that sometimes what she needs in a partner is someone to listen and share it. So it’s a learning thing,” he added.

“I feel free, I’m happy for the first time in my life. I’ve met so many people too.

“It’s ok to have the conversations we have and to just talk normally,” she said.

“When you’re having to constantly check yourself, everything that you say and do on a day-to-day basis, because you can’t talk about a partner, you can’t talk about where you went on holiday…”

She explained that her scary brush with Covid made her realise that she needed to show the world her “real self” and that bottling things up triggered breakdowns and left her suicidal.

Kelly admitted: “There have been lots of dark times where I wished I could scream that I am gay – but I couldn’t.”
