Ayda Field has called for her husband Robbie Williams to receive an OBE for his work on Soccer Aid.

The American actress, 45, joined the Loose Women panel on Wednesday as she reflected on Robbie’s hard work at the charity event. Soccer Aid took place on Sunday night as stars took to the pitch to raise money for Unicef. A host of celebrities and former football stars descended on Stamford Bridge for the annual event.

Since kickstarting in 2006, the match has raised an impressive £90 million for the charity, helping those in need in countries across the world. Robbie, 50, was joined by Paddy McGuinness, Erin Doherty, Danny Dyer and Bobby Brazier taking part for the England team.

Meanwhile, Roman Kemp, Usain Bolt, Tommy Fury, Martin Compston and Lee Mack featured on the World XI team. Robbie helped to come up with Soccer Aid after meeting football agent Kenneth Shepherd at a charity game. The Take That star started working with children’s charity Unicef in 1998 and two years later became an ambassador.

His former bandmate Gary Barlow was awarded an OBE in the 2012 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his “services to the Entertainment Industry and to Charity”. Ayda was asked by Loose Women co-star Denise Welch why Robbie hasn’t been given one yet, to which she replied: “Well Denise I don’t know how to answer that on live TV.

“All I can say in the Williams household, there is an OBE. We gave it to the dog, we figured it was about time there was one in the house. He is called Mr Showbiz OBE.” She then added: “I’m rooting for a knighthood, but listen Rob never set out for any accolades when he started this 20 years ago. That has actually helped people in a really powerful way.”

Speaking of this year’s event on Sunday, Ayda commented: “I was really impressed, I had a real proud wife moment when he came home.” Back in 2019 a decision to award former Take That star Robbie an OBE was overturned after it was deemed he had used a controversial investment scheme. The senior HMRC civil servant who informed the honours committee of its decision suggested the star only had himself to blame.

“If you do not pay your dues to the Athenaeum you cannot expect to enjoy the benefits,” the official reportedly said. In the same year, Robbie joked about his lack on an OBE while on the Jonathan Ross show with David Walliams. They discussed visiting Buckingham Palace as David said he’d been “many, many, many, many, times” and added: “But you only see bits of it.” Robbie interjected: “I’ve seen all of it.”

David asked: “Did you get an award or something?” Which prompted Robbie to reply: “Yeah no, no awards. Gary Barlow OBE, Robbie Williams, nothing.” Former Britain’s Got Talent judge David then teased: “Why do you think that is, why do you think the Queen hates you?” Robbie quipped: “Obviously not flavour of the day. You organise a jubilee for her on the roundabout outside the house, OBE straight away. Robbie Williams, no.”

Race Across The World stars Betty and James have opened up on their heartbreaking moment from the show that left viewers in tears.

The brother and sister duo came third on the BBC race through Eastern Asia. They competed against four other pairs on the epic race through countries without planes, smartphones and credit cards in the hopes of winning £20,000. Despite not taking home the cash prize, Betty and James wowed fans with their bond that grew over the series.They admitted to not being close with each other before taking part in the show. While on the race, 25-year-old Betty heartbreakingly shared her health battle as she does not have a uterus, womb and only one kidney. She was diagnosed with MRKH at the age of 16, which is a rare congenital disorder that affects the female reproductive system.

Betty decided to open up on the fact she cannot have children to James. After their chat, he broke down while talking to the camera and begged the cameraman for a hug. They both appeared on Loose Women, where they opened up on the moment. Betty said: “Everything that you see on screen is exactly how that conversation would have gone because the producers said ‘we are not producing this, just have this conversation naturally’.

“We just sat and chatted. When I got diagnosed, James was 11. I was born without a uterus and I have one kidney. Your little brother doesn’t need to know about that when he is little. It was just a conversation that didn’t come up at home. It was a difficult conversation to have.” She then broke down and told the panel: “I feel like the first time I am free, I finally belong where ever I am.”

James shared his thoughts on the emotional moment as he said: “We saw that on the show, everything was raw and natural. That was just how I felt at the time, that raw emotion just came out. Kudos from our cameraman who was there to step in and give me a hug when I really needed it.”

He added: “My motto was everything happens for a reason, Betty for obvious reasons can’t see that. That conversation it opened doors to understand each other as adults.” Their mum was sat in the Loose Women audience and explained: “It was very hard, it still makes me hard even now just seeing the way they were both able to open up about their emotions when in society we don’t do that. It just makes me really proud of them.”

Viewers were touched by the moment on Race Across The World as one said: “Omg Betty and James each week make me love them even more, as if I was their parent. Bizarre to say I know. They are fun, the loveliest, kindest, strongest siblings. Emotionally there for each other… I hope they win this.”

Another added: “This will be the most moving TV moment of the year I feel.” Someone else commented: “How brave of Betty to tell everyone about her health. Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards revealed she once snubbed pop star Taylor Swift at a wedding for a touching reason.

The TV star, 55, recalled her encounter with the pop star while on the ITV daytime show on Friday. She shared how their paths crossed when she attended a wedding with her late son Jamal Edwards. Brenda didn’t disclose whose wedding it was, but many viewers believed it could have been Ed Sheeran’s 2019 ceremony with Cherry Seaborn.

Ed was close friends with Jamal and has a tight bond with Taylor. Jamal sadly died at the age of 31 in 2022 following a cardiac arrest. Opening up on the experience with Taylor, Brenda shared: “The reception time had come and we came into the room and everybody found a seat and sat down.

“I thought to myself Jamal’s brought me here so I am going to sit and not say anything and keep my eyes down, which I did. Which is very out of the ordinary for me.” She continued: “So I sat there and after about half an hour she was sat talking and I could hear the conversation but its not my conversation. And then she says to me ”hi, would you like to come and sit with us?’ and I said, ‘no thank you’ and afterwards I was like ‘ugh!’.

“I spoke to Jamal after and he said ‘mum you should gone and spoke to her, don’t be so awkward’ and I said ‘I was trying not to embarrass you and say something stupid, like I normally would!’ But she was very lovely and she was very down to earth, and you could feel her aura about her that was so calm and pleasant.”

Brenda’s son Jamal founded the music platform SBTV in 2006 which helped launch Ed’s career. Ed, who used to take drugs twice a day, said that it would be disrespectful to ever play around with substances again after Jamal’s tragic death. The pop star confessed that he first started taking them in his mid-20s, and then gradually became hooked.

Last year, Ed broke down in tears as he was performing an intimate show with Apple Music Live at the Eventim Apollo in London. During the performance Ed admitted he ‘wanted the world to stop’ as he dedicated two songs to Jamal. Ed shared his grief and admitted to the audience: “I’m still not over it, I don’t want to be.”

He told the audience, according to the Daily Mail: “The last time I was in this venue was with my friend Jamal, to see a comedy show, and I’ve not been here since. The first time I ever played this song, I cried when I introduced it, I cried at the start, I cried at the end and… I’m going to cry now.”

Brenda previously shared how Ed comforted her following Jamal’s death as he “was literally at my house for a week, just looking after us”. “There wasn’t anything that he wasn’t sorting out and doing if we needed anything, and everybody has been so so wonderful and so supportive,” she shared on Good Morning Britain.

Romeo, 21, took to Instagram on Wednesday to rub in his victory, sharing a snap of a defeated David laughing in the background.

The Brentwood FC forward held his hand up in an L to signify his dad was a ‘loser’ as David, 49, wearing an orange tank top and white Adidas shorts, shook his head and chuckled.

The pair took on Argentinian tennis star Deigo Schwartzman for the game of padel in the sunshine.

Padel is a racket sport, similar to tennis played in pairs on small, enclosed courts  and first popularised in Mexico in the 1960s.

However, after the last person delivers the line, the others purposefully remain silent and exchange awkward glances, and in this case Victoria was the one left in the dark.

Charles already has hives at his country home Highgrove House in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.

Former Royal Beekeeper to the Queen’s bees John Chapple, who cared for up to 420,000 bees across the Palace’s hives, welcomed the news of Sandringham’s new bees but did not know where the King has got them from.

‘You buy them from another beekeeper but I don’t know who that would be,’ he said.

‘I just hope he bought them from this country and did not import them from abroad.

‘The main thing is to have local bees. They’re used to the conditions and that’s where it’s going wrong.

‘People bring bees in right now, let’s say from southern Italy, which are cheaper than buying English bees but they’re not used to our climate.’

Mr Chapple, who says he talks to the bees, revealed that the late Queen was ‘very proud’ of her royal bee colonies.

He added that their honey was served at her breakfast table every day.

Contestants on The Traitors are banned from speaking to host Claudia Winkleman off-camera… in case the others suspect them of being traitors.

Miles Asteri, who appeared in the second series of the hit show, told me: ‘We’re not supposed to have time with her. She’s not supposed to have favourites.’

He added: ‘If someone was talking to her too much, you’d think, “That’s a Traitor talking to Claudia…” so it’s all very limited. The time you do have is short and sweet.’

Paul Mercer, of Norfolk-based The Swimming Pond Company, says that they are a clean, green alternative to polluted rivers or conventional chlorine-based pools.

He said: ‘We were one of the first companies to set up in the UK in 2006 when very few people had heard about swimming ponds.

‘We had very few enquiries and we would finish one contract and wonder where the next one would come from.

‘But now there are around 2,000 natural swimming ponds in the UK and we get as many as 300 enquiries a year.’

Mr Mercer used to swim in his local river, the Waveney, which divides Norfolk and Suffolk.

He said: ‘There is a great movement towards wild swimming but that has come the last few years when there has been a problem with pollution in our rivers and lakes.

‘The Waveney has had a bad press for pollution. I would not want to swim in it now and I am sure a lot of people feel the same way.’

A typical 180 square metre swimming pond costs around £160,000 and is divided into two zones of equal size separated by a wall.

The ‘regeneration zone’ is planted with aquatic plants such as reeds, which attract wildlife, and a pipe pumps clean, filtered water from it into the swimming zone.

The ponds tend to be much bigger than conventional swimming pools and lower maintenance as they do not require draining and refilling.

Mr Mercer said: ‘Even our smallest ponds have more space for swimming than a typical 40sq m family size swimming pool.

‘And swimming ponds are not just a beautiful environment to swim surrounded by plants but also the most stunning feature in a garden.

‘We spend a lot of time just sitting on the decking by the pond in the evening watching swallows flying overhead – if you are lucky a kingfisher visiting – and dragonflies in all colours and newts.’

Clients – mostly from ‘the southern half of the UK’ have included garden designer Helen Allison, who had a 120sq m pond built at her home in Poslingford, Suffolk.

Tim Evans, owner and managing director of north London-based swimming pond company Gartenart, said: ‘Particularly since the Covid years, it has been a very good time for our business.

‘More and more people are taking cold plunges – swimming or dipping – all year round, so that it is almost mainstream.

‘Rivers are ever higher risk from pollution whereas a natural swimming pond is zero risk as a safe, clean environment.

‘Many of our clients want something that looks beautiful, is practical to swim in and is going to integrate into the landscape rather than a pristine blue rectangle with chlorinated water.

‘In my experience from the heart, there is nothing that beats swimming in a natural swimming pond with fresh water.’

Gartenart’s creations cost from £140,000 for a 70sq m pond rising to £250,000 for a 350sq m design.

West, 54, recently told how he built a giant natural pond in the country garden at his Cotswolds home with the help of David Pagan Butler, dubbed the ‘Einstein of Natural Swimming Pools’.

Famed for his innovative ‘bubble-powered’, chemical-free, low-energy, organic natural swimming pools, Pagan Butler’s work has won him over 100,000 devoted YouTube followers.

He said: ‘I’ve always loved swimming in the sea as well as in lakes and rivers.

‘But there’s something very special about swimming in a natural swimming pool. It makes me feel bulletproof, while of course there’s also that immediate connection to nature.

‘When I’m in the mood I do a spot of underwater gardening by weeding the aquatic plants.

‘Then when I’m finished, I head straight for our home-built sauna.’

The Loose Women panel were involved in a fierce clash today over Jeremy Clarkson’s vile Meghan Markle comments.

The former Top Gear host, 62, has been condemned for suggesting the Duchess, 41, should be ‘paraded naked through the streets’, adding he ‘dreamed’ of people throwing ‘lumps of excrement’ at the mum-of-two.

While admitting she was ‘repulsed’ by the comments, Janet Street-Porter, 75, said she didn’t believe Jeremy had broken the law because his remarks didn’t constitute “hate speech”.

Telling the audience we need free speech in the country, she said: “it seems like we’ve moved on to cancelling” saying “two or three hundred years ago there were cartoons of the king with his head down the toilet or with his bits hanging out.”

Janet added the Clarkson’s Farm star had taken the reference of being ‘paraded naked through the streets’ from HBO’s Game of Thrones. During the shocking scene Cersei Lannister, played by Lena Headey, is forced to undertake the ‘walk of atonement’ – naked – for her sins.

But panellist Brenda Edwards said it didn’t make a jot of difference where the reference came from.
