What nonsense about having married 3 days earlier, which, as well as being a slap in the face for the public who partly paid for the charade, was patently untrue without witnesses. More disingenuous absurdity about having her passport taken. Which of course would be the same for any other in the Family (apart from the Queen). “I really just fancied her. I did,” David said of his wife. “I just fancied her. I didn’t know what she was like as a person.

I just actually fancied her like most people did at that time, and I didn’t know who I was marrying [or] who I was going to be with for the rest of my life.”
