Meghan Markle snubbed by Royal Family again as Firm fail to do one thing

The Duchess of Sussex celebrated her 43rd birthday on August 4, with the Royal Family remaining silent.

In an apparent snub to Meghan Markle, the Firm remained silent as the Duchess of Sussex celebrated her 43rd birthday on August 4.

According to People magazine, the Duchess reportedly spent the day “privately” with her family at home, as she has done in previous years.

However, fans will see the silence from the Royal Family as evidence of the strained relationship between Meghan, Prince Harry and King Charles and Queen Camilla, following their departure as senior working royals in 2020.

Occasionally the Royal Family put out statements on social media to issue birthday greetings to members of the family. But the Firm kept quiet and did not issue any message to mark Meghan’s 42nd birthday last year either – her first since Charles became King.

When the Duchess of Sussex turned 41, two years after Harry and Meghan’s departure as senior working royals, William and Kate shared a message with their millions of followers on social media, wishing the US-born royal a ‘Happy Birthday’.

On August 4, 2022, William and Kate sent a message to Meghan on X with the caption: “Wishing a happy birthday to the Duchess of Sussex!”

The then Prince of Wales, and Camilla also sent a message marking Meghan’s 41st, writing “Happy Birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!”.

But since their departure from the Firm, Harry and Meghan have commented on personal experiences within the Royal Family, giving an explosive interview with TV host, Oprah Winfrey and releasing a bombshell memoir, Spare – highlighting rifts with senior royals.

Since then, Meghan did not attend the King’s Coronation in May 2023 and Harry was seated away from senior members of the family.

This year, the duchess chose her birthday to shine a light on cyberbullying in a new interview she and Prince Harry conducted with CBS Sunday Morning on August 4.

The chat with Jane Pauley aired in the US on the morning of Meghan’s birthday and the Sussexes opened up about their quest to protect children online.

Prince Harry also emphasised the pressing need for parental vigilance in the digital age with the host. Commenting on young children, he warned: “They could be in the next-door room on a tablet or phone and can be going down these rabbit holes and, before you know it, within 24 hours they could be taking their life.”

Meghan also talked about her own struggles with suicidal thoughts, during their time in England. “I just didn’t – I didn’t want to be alive anymore,” she said, holding Harry’s knee. The Sussexes also met with bereaved parents. This included a couple who lost a daughter to online bullying.

The pair have been living in California with their young family for the past four years, and tend to keep a low profile in the exclusive town where they reside.

Royal fans heartbroken at change to National Anthem during Olympics

Royal fans were left devastated when they noticed a mistake in Britain’s God Save The King national anthem that many are making.

Winning a medal at the Olympic Games can be a highly emotional experience. When standing at the podium and listening to their national anthem blaring in the background, some struggle to keep their composure.

And it’s not just the athletes who are getting goosebumps at the medal ceremony. Viewers at home have struggled to contain their tears while listening to God Save The King play.

Royal fans are particularly moved because the lyrics to the anthem have changed following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. Instead of ‘God Save The Queen’, it’s now ‘God Save The King’.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, one wrote: “Awww just had the sad realisation that this will be the first Olympics I’ve ever know where team won’t be singing God Save the Queen at any gold medal ceremonies. God Save the King still doesn’t sound right.”

And another said: “Didn’t appreciate until yesterday – it’s the first time God Save the King was used at the Olympics since 1948. Our old Queen was/still is amazing.”

People are so used to singing ‘God Save The Queen’ that some British Olympians have stumbled over their words while on the podium.

During the moving medal ceremonies, some have fluffed up the words by forgetting to pay homepage to King Charles III.

After Bryony Page scooped Team GB’s first ever gold medal in trampolining, she sang along to the national anthem. But viewers at home were quick to spot she mentioned the late monarch by accident.

One fan tweeted: “Just watched GB/NI’s Bryony Page on the podium with her trampolining Gold & you can see she’s been doing this a while as she sang ‘God save our gracious Queen’ in the first line then realised immediately what she’d done and emphasised *King* in the second and following lines.”

Another said: “Bryony Page forgetting and singing God Save The Queen.” And a third laughed: “Bryony Page singing “God Save the Queen” with such confidence before correcting herself.”

Thankfully, Bryony did remember to sing for the King by the end of the anthem! And she’s not alone – as other members of Team GB made the same blunder at their own ceremonies.

God Save The King is the national or royal anthem of the United Kingdom and has also been adopted by other Commonwealth realms. The origins of the anthem date back to the 18th century, although its exact authorship remains uncertain.

The melody is often attributed to the English composer Thomas Arne, who arranged it in 1745. However, earlier versions of the melody and lyrics existed, and it is possible that the tune itself predates Arne’s arrangement.

The lyrics are believed to have been written in 1745 to show support for King George II during the Jacobite rising, a time of political strife and rebellion in Britain. The anthem quickly gained popularity and became associated with loyalty to the crown.

  • Meghan Markle’s brutal 10-word response to Prince Harry’s ‘cruel outburst’

Meghan Markle’s brutal 10-word response to Prince Harry’s ‘cruel outburst’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle once had quite a fiery spat during which the duke was “cruel” to his wife, who gave him a cutting 10-word response.

Meghan Markle gave Prince Harry a brutal 10-word response following his “cruel outburst” in the early days of their relationship, according to the duke himself.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex started dating in 2016 and it wasn’t long before they had their first spat, just like any other couple.

Harry opened up about their first major argument in his memoir Spare, released in January last year.

The prince talked about how in December 2016, he had been “cruel” to his future wife during a particularly fiery spat.

The date had begun pleasantly with the duchess showing him how to roast a chicken while they both listened to James Taylor and Nina Simone and sipped wine but the atmosphere quickly changed after he “snapped” at her.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had a fiery spat in the early days of their relationsh

Harry wrote: “Maybe the wine went to my head. Maybe the weeks of battling the press had worn me down.

“For some reason, when the conversation took an unexpected turn, I became touchy. Then angry. Disproportionately, sloppily angry.

“Meg said something I took the wrong way. It was partly a cultural difference, partly a language barrier, but I was also just over-sensitive that night. I thought: Why’s she having a go at me? I snapped at her, spoke to her harshly, cruelly.”

He added: “As the words left my mouth, I could feel everything in the room come to a stop. The gravy stopped bubbling, the molecules of air stopped orbiting. Even Nina Simone seemed to pause. Meg walked out of the room, disappearing for a full fifteen minutes.”

The duke claimed that afterwards, he went upstairs to find Meghan, who sat in the bedroom and replied to him: “[I]would never stand for being spoken to like that”.

She also asked him a few challenging questions about where his anger had “come from”.

Harry wrote:”‘Where did you ever hear a man speak like that to a woman? Did you overhear adults speak that way when you were growing up?’ I cleared my throat, looked away. Yes.

“She wasn’t going to tolerate that kind of partner. Or co-parent. That kind of life. She wasn’t going to raise children in an atmosphere of anger or disrespect.

“She laid it all out, super-clear. We both knew my anger hadn’t been caused by anything to do with our conversation.”

Harry said that the disagreement with Meghan was the incident which led him to seek therapy.

He wrote: “It came from somewhere deep inside, somewhere that needed to be excavated, and it was obvious that I could use some help with the job.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been slammed for their links to tech entrepreneur Christopher Bouzy.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been slammed for “not practicing what they preach” after coming under fire for their links to well-known royal critic – and tech entrepreneur – Christopher Bouzy.

Christopher Bouzy has previously trolled the Princess of Wales, with his hurtful comments going as far as saying that the 42-year-old was aging as fast as a “banana”.

A slap down on the Sussexes made by royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams comes just two days after the Meghan and Harry’s interview about cyberbullying aired on CBS.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Mr Fitzwilliams has claimed that Meghan and Harry’s move to speak out on protecting children from online bullying was hypocritical – especially as Mr Bouzy has become “notorious” for his cruel remarks about the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Mr Fitzwilliams said: “The launch on CBS of The Parents Network, to help those with the hashtag #NoChildLostToSocialMedia, a group of parents who have experienced the suffering which can be caused by social media, is undoubtedly an important step towards tackling a significant issue of contemporary concern.”

He added: “It followed a pilot by Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation and is linked to their forthcoming visit to Colombia.”

However, he remarked: “You often judge individuals by the company they keep,’ hitting out at their links to Christopher and Omid Scobie – ‘whose latest book, Endgame, was involved in a disgraceful row over unproven allegations which has never been satisfactorily explained.”

As well as taking aim at Kate and William, Mr Bouzy has also previously criticised King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Discussing how quickly he thought Kate and William were aging, the critic once wrote: “I don’t understand why, since they have a team of people who wait on them hand and foot 24/7.”

Around the same time, in October 2021, Mr Bouzy also tweeted that Kate and William “look like Harry’s aunt and uncle”.

Speaking on Meghan’s comments about being feeling suicidal during her time as a senior working royal, Mr Fitzwilliams believes that she could speak out further on this – especially given her statement that she “hadn’t really scraped the surface”.

Mr Fitzwilliams told the publication: “It was a tragedy that this was a disaster with an undoubted impact on her mental health. She hinted that she would open up if it helped others and “take the hit for that”.”

Duchess Sophie cannot contain her delight as Team GB win first Gold Medal in the velodrome

Duchess Sophie of Edinburgh was thrilled to see Team GB triumph in the Women’s Team Sprint.

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh was snapped cheering on Team GB at the Olympic Games 2024 on Monday evening as they won their first cycling medal in the velodrome, scooping gold in the Women’s Team Sprint.

The team also set a new world record in Track Cycling as Emma Finucane, Sophie Capewell, and Katy Marchant beat New Zealand into second place.

This is the first time Team GB has won a women’s sprint medal of any colour at the Olympics, with Ms Marchant telling BBC Sport: “To break three world records and come away as Olympic champions, we just absolutely nailed it and I’m so proud of us.”

No doubt the Duchess was proud too, as she arrived in Paris to represent the Royal Family, following in Princess Anne’s footsteps as she travelled to the French capital earlier in the tournament.

Sophie was all smiles on Sunday too as she arrived to watch the Men’s Hockey quarter final, but it was the female cyclists who gave her the opportunity to let loose and celebrate.

Duchess Sophie travelled to Paris to watch Team GB win their first cycling medal in the velodrome on Day 10 of the Olympic Games 2024.

Their impressive gold medal-winning display led to cheers in the crowd, in particular from Sophie and her companion.

Team GB’s hopes for further golden glory are set to continue throughout this week until the Closing Ceremony on Sunday.

The Duchess of Edinburgh appeared without her husband Prince Edward and their two children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex.

But that did not stop her fully embracing the sporting spirit and getting swept away in Team GB’s victory.

The royals are known to be a sporting family, with Sophie’s daughter Louise an accomplished carriage driver regularly competing in races.

The excitement of the event was clear from Sophie’s expressions, as she could have been any enthusiastic member of the public cheering on her team.

The Duchess was dressed for the summery weather in her Erdem Roisin floral-print midi frock, on sale for £1200 ($1535), although she has worn it before.

She teamed the dress with Mary Jane leather espadrilles in White from Penelope Chilvers.

Sophie and her male companion were happily interacting with other members of the crowd in the velodrome, as they smiled to admire something on another person’s phone.

Perhaps it was photos or videos of the cycling event keeping them entertained.

The Duchess seemed keen to blend in with other attendees, keeping the focus on the extraordinarily skilled athletes and the thrill of the sprint.

It was not just the cycling that Sophie went to watch, as on Sunday she was spotted at the Men’s Hockey quarter final to see Team GB face India. However, the opposing team was victorious.

She also visited the Women’s Hub before their hockey match against the Netherlands, but they too missed out.

This did not seem to quell Sophie’s enthusiasm though as she looked fresh and cool in a white linen dress.

The name Iman also pays a touching tribute to the Royal Family, as Prince Hussein’s younger sister is called Princess Iman bint Abdullah and King Abdullah’s half-sister also has the name.

Prince Hussein and Princess Iman have an incredibly close bond, as he escorted her down the aisle when she married Jameel Alexander Thermiótis in March last year.

The Crown Prince and Princess Rajwa wed in a lavish ceremony in Jordan’s capital Amman in June 2023, with Prince William, Princess Kate and Princess Beatrice all attending the celebrations.

Princess Iman bint Hussein is the first grandchild of Prince Hussein’s parents, King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan, who are sure to be delighted with the news.

It is rare for the King and Queen to speak about their private life, but in a recent interview with Al Arabiya, they confirmed they were “very excited about the new phase” in their lives.

The King said: “Everything will change with the kids, for sure. I don’t know what to expect, but thank God we are excited and the family is excited too.”

Queen Rania welcomed news of her granddaughter’s arrival on X, posting: “Praise be to God for His greatest gifts… You have enlightened our lives with our precious granddaughter, Iman.

Prince Harry is in a “tough spot” in terms of decision-making and has to be careful with his next steps, a source has claimed.

If Prince Harry wants any chance of a reconciliation with the Royal Family he needs to tread very carefully with any next steps, according to a source.

Relations between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Firm have become more strained since the royal duo decided to step back as senior working royals in 2020 and eventually move to Montecito, California, where they now reside with their two children.

In early 2020, the US-based royals went on to give a brutal tell-all interview with famous TV host Oprah Winfrey, in which they alleged racism within the Royal Family – to which Harry later dialled back in a separate TV appearance.

Harry and Meghan have also divulged personal information about their time within the Firm in their Netflix docuseries titled ‘Harry & Meghan’ and in Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare, which was released in January 2023.

Prince Harry has since been tipped to write a sequel to Spare because of the memoir’s commercial success. An insider claimed to Heat Magazine: “It’s got to be a tough spot for Harry to be in, because the publisher is putting a ton of pressure on him to deliver some more salacious details on the royals.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Invictus Games

Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 (Image: Getty)

The source went on to describe the current relations between the Royal Family and the America-based duo: “It’s not exactly like his family have been very forgiving, so no doubt there’s some feeling on Harry’s part that he’s got nothing left to lose.”

They also claimed the memoir, Spare, will go down in history as “one of the biggest betrayals of the monarchy” in modern memory.

They added: “For him to rub salt in the wounds again for his own personal gain would send him so far into the doghouse that there’d be no way back – it would ruin any chance of reconciliation.”

The source also believes there is “very little to include” besides his experience of being “ostracised by the royals”.

Prince Harry, however, has previously alluded to there being more content. In a previous interview with the Telegraph, Harry claimed he withheld material and said: “It was 800 pages, and now it’s down to 400 pages. It could have been two books, put it that way, and the hard bit was taking things out.”

Harry’s relationship with his brother, Prince William, could also be beyond repair claims royal author, Tom Quinn. Speaking to the Mirror US, he said: “Having their own families means the brothers no longer need each other as they did after the death of their mother. Emotional support comes now from their partners, partners untainted by dysfunctional royal childhoods.”

BBC’s former royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, told Times Radio: “I think as far as William is concerned, Harry really doesn’t exist.”

She continued: “William has enough pressure on his heart and his head, with his wife and her ongoing cancer treatment, and his father, his job and his kids that I don’t think he’s got any room in his soul to worry about his estranged brother… I think William has disowned Harry.”

Prince Harry visited the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games on May 8, but did not see any members of the Royal Family during his visit. The Service of Thanksgiving also coincided with the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace which was attended by King Charles.

Meghan Markle’s new move is a ‘gamechanger’ fans have ‘never seen before’

EXCLUSIVE: Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show is reportedly set to be released next year and is on the verge of success, a PR expert has claimed.

Meghan Markle has wrapped up filming for her new cooking and home show, a Hollywood insider previously claimed. Royal fans are hotly-anticipating the Duchess of Sussex’s latest offering which is expected to be a “gamechanger” says celebrity PR expert Carla Speight.

While no date has been confirmed for the release of her Netflix show, or her brand American Riviera Orchard, it has been strongly rumoured Prince Harry, 39, will make a few cameo appearances, but sources remain tight-lipped.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Carla has shared an insight into the former Suits star’s latest move, which may also include son Prince Archie and daughter Princess Lilibet.

“I’m not sure they will show Archie and Lilibet, purely because they have so far protected the children from the spotlight that Harry has been subjected to his whole life,” she explained, “That said, if they do appear, it would delight fans around the world.”

She continued: “If they were to organically interrupt filming, such as Jamie Oliver’s kids do during his most recent shows, then it could offer many sweet moments and a real insight into their family life that so far no royal has ever offered before.

    Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle’s Netflix series is set to air next year, according to sources (Image: GETTY)

“It would be a really good moment that could be a game changer for how the public sees them as a family unit. If it were to happen, it could bring back that sense of protection for Diana, the People’s Princess’ son Harry and her grandchildren.

“The public once had him close to their hearts, but because of the distance of the royals from the general public, it’s made it harder over the years for that sense of public responsibility for Harry and William to be upheld and the drama only amplified that.

“If Meghan and Harry let the public see them as the loving family they are, then the response could be incredibly positive.”

The show, which is yet to receive a title or air date, will “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship” and is part of Meghan and Harry’s $100million Netflix deal.

The show was filmed at a property two miles from Meghan’s Montecito mansion, which she and Prince Harry, 39, share with children Archie, two, and Lilibet, two.

The celebrity expert is certain the show will put Meghan, 43, in a positive light and show the royal in a “way we’ve never seen before”.

“She has a really warm and caring personality, which has shone through with all her previous humanitarian work as a UN ambassador, which incidentally led to her connection with Harry strengthening when she went to see him in Botswana,” the expert commented.

“People have forgotten that and this show will allow her to reveal that side of her and share it with the viewers.”

Carla added: “No doubt she will have the chance to connect with viewers in a way we’ve never seen before and she will build a strong fandom from the show.”

Although filming for Netflix has finished, it still takes months for the show to be edited as it has to be synched up for countries around the world with audio and subtitles, and it should be on our screens in early 2025, Express understands.

Princess Eugenie once shared a special demand that she would put into action if she ever found herself in the position of ruling Britain.

The unique demand is one thought to be popular with many people, especially as it would make a huge difference to the average five-day working week.

When the Princess was in her 20s, Eugenie was asked what she would do if she suddenly became Queen and she gave an eight-word answer.

Speaking to the Daily Mail she retorted: “I would make Mondays part of the weekend!”

In the same interview, Princess Eugenie, also admitted American officials at Immigration once struggled to believe her late grandmother was Queen, despite her being a Princess.

OK! Magazine previously reported the Princess once said American Immigration officers told her, “So, you’re a princess eh? Do you have much power?” as she explained to the publications the role can be “weird” at times for her.

This year, Princess Eugenie, 34, has proven to be a big support to the Prince and Princess of Wales, following Kate’s cancer diagnosis.

It’s been claimed that Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice have stepped up to help with Royal duties, especially with their uncle King Charles, 75, also battling the illness.

A source said: “Bea and Eugenie can’t imagine what William is going through right now, and it was an honour for them to give him some support.”

For instance, on May 21, the Princesses stepped in to help Prince William host a Buckingham Palace garden party on behalf of King Charles, alongside his first cousins, while Kate was absent from engagements.

Princess Eugenie, her husband, Jack Brooksbank and two sons currently split their time between London and Portugal but the continuing success of Jack’s UK-based firm means they are considering a permanent move to England.

A source told Express.co.uk: “Eugenie is adamant that she wants to head back to the UK on a more permanent basis and use the villa in Portugal as a holiday home.”

“They are very close to their families and all like spending lots of quality time together with the children.”

They added: “They [the family] are currently spending a lot of time in Portugal and as the boys get a bit older, they are looking for kindergartens near to their London home and eventually schools in the UK.”

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s youngest daughter also supports various charitable organisations such as Tate Modern and The Serpentine and holds various Ambassador and Patron roles at charities including Teenage Cancer Trust, the European School of Osteopathy, and the Elephant Family.

After discussing Prince William’s upcoming bombshell ITV interview, the Loose Women went on to discuss childcare and the workplace after one woman sparked controversy this week when she admitted that she was planning on caring for her toddler while working from home.

While Loose Women panellist Carol slammed the mum’s decision to work from home and care for her child at the same time, Brenda revealed that she felt sympathy for the young mum who was trying her best to juggle parenting while working her day job.

As the two TV stars got into the discussion, things became more and more heated until Brenda was forced to clap back at Carol after she assumed that her Loose Women co-star had made a dig at her parenting skills as she juggled her career alongside it.

“I worked very successfully with my two children working alongside me and along with them. And if you monitor things – the work that has got to be done – then there’s no other people that will have to take up any slack,” Brenda argued.

“Nobody had to take up the slack for me. I did my work and I took great pride in that,” she added before Carol interrupted.
