Liam Payne ‘begged’ girlfriend Kate Cassidy to stay in Argentina in ‘heated’ exchange pre-death

Liam Payne allegedly pleaded with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, to stay with him in Argentina before she fled the country and he tragically died.

“Liam didn’t want Kate to leave Argentina,” a friend of the influencer told The Post Friday. “He wanted her to stay. She says he begged her to stay.”

The pal, who asked to remain anonymous, shared the the couple’s exchange was “actually a little more heated than you’d think,” but did not elaborate further.

“She says he begged her to stay,” one of Cassidy’s friends told The Post Friday.
Cassidy shared on TikTok Monday that she “was so ready to leave” Argentina. She told her followers that she and Payne had planned to be there for only five days, but the trip ended up lasting two weeks.

 

 

“Honestly, I love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long,” she said at the time.

Despite the explanation, her friend told The Post that Payne “didn’t know why” Cassidy would leave him.

“She wanted to be home with her dog,” the source explained. “He didn’t like that at all. He was really moody about it.”

The couple had flown to Argentina to support Payne’s former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan, who had a concert there on Oct. 2. The singer also used that opportunity to make up with his longtime friend.

In a since-deleted video on Snapchat, Payne teased Cassidy over her leaving their vacation early.

“So it’s going to be a nice day, and then, you’re going home. Ha ha, loser, weirdo,” the “What Makes You Beautiful” singer said in the social media clip.

Cassidy’s friend added that the influencer had gotten antsy because Payne had given her “no indication of when he’d be ready to leave” and so she “took things into her own hands and got herself a ticket” home.

“He was really unhappy about that,” the pal claimed. “He made sure she knew that.”

Despite the alleged tiff over her flying back home to Florida, the friend said Payne and Cassidy — who started dating two years ago and lived together — “weren’t having trouble.”

Payne had reportedly given Cassidy “no indication” of when he was ready to leave Argentina.

However, new information about what Payne was reportedly up to in the hours before he died have left Cassidy with some unanswered questions, per her pal.

“She has to wrap her mind around it,” the friend said in response to reports that the pop star was partying with prostitutes in his hotel room before his death.

Earlier on Friday, Cassidy released a statement, saying she is at “a complete loss” over Payne’s death.

“Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private,” she wrote via Instagram.

In a message to the “Night Changes” singer, she wrote, “Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life.”

Payne died on Wednesday after falling from the third-story balcony of his room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. He was 31 years old.

Leading up to his fatal fall, fellow hotel guests had reported seeing the “Story of My Life” singer “acting erratic,” including smashing his laptop in the lobby after receiving an email that seemingly “upset” him.

The hotel manager was overheard in a 911 call, released this week, stating that a male guest appeared “high and drunk” and had been destroying his room. The staffer feared for the man’s life.

When police arrived, though, Payne had sadly already fallen to his death. Investigators then discovered drug paraphernalia and alcohol scattered all over his trashed hotel suite.

Authorities noted in their autopsy report that Payne suffered a fractured skull and attributed his cause of death to multiple traumas, internal and external bleeding from the injuries he sustained.

The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office also said in the report, however, that they do not suspect foul play. The death is still under investigation.

Payne is survived by his 7-year-old son, Bear, whom he shared with ex Cheryl Cole.

It is unclear who the Peter is that Charles is addressing, or the identity of ‘dear Liz’.

The three page handwritten letter on Highgrove House letterhead, dated December 8, 1997 and signed ‘Charles’, has emerged for sale for £1,500 ($2,000) at RR Auction, of Boston, US.

It comes with its original envelope which had Charles’s instructions for it to be delivered ‘by hand’.

An RR spokesperson said: ‘This lengthy handwritten letter to ‘Peter’ expresses his sympathy upon the death of a loved one.

‘Charles was likely particularly emotional at the time he wrote the letter, as Princess Diana had tragically passed away just a few months before in August 1997.’

Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris aged 36 on August 31, 1997.

The timed sale ends on August 14.

The Princess of Wales is expected to attend Remembrance Sunday events this weekend after her husband Prince William said she was ‘doing really well’.

Kate is making a gradual return to public duties after completing a course of cancer treatment, with her last high-profile appearance at Trooping the Colour in June.

She has stayed home with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis this week while William is in Cape Town for his Earthshot Prize awards.

Now, Kate is hoping to join other senior members of the Royal family at the annual Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph in honour of the war dead this Sunday.

Kensington Palace is yet to confirm the Princess’s attendance at what is an important date in the royal calendar in London, but according to the Press Association she is expected to be present as it stands.

Queen Camilla too has pledged to be there after pulling out of the annual Field of Remembrance opening at Westminster Abbey tomorrow due to a chest infection.

Kate has also spoken with aides about staging her annual Christmas carol service in December, holding a meeting with her team at Windsor Castle on September 24.

Today, William gave an update on Kate during an interview before tonight’s awards, saying: ‘She’s doing really well thanks. And hopefully she is watching tonight.

Mr Bush, 23, was found dead on Christmas Eve close to a string of popular boutique shops and independent businesses when it was packed with last minute shoppers.

Following Mr Bush’s death police appealed for potential witnesses to come forward who may have been in the shopping or car park area behind Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff at the time.

An inquest earlier heard officers from South Wales Police were called to their home in Llandaff, Cardiff, to reports of a stabbing.

Coroners’ officer Beverley Morgan told the hearing that on Christmas Eve last year police were contacted by members of the public who told them that there had been a ‘stabbing incident’.

Multiple officers arrived at the scene and immediately performed CPR after finding Mr Bush injured in Chapel Street car park next to the city’s landmark Llandaff Cathedral.

Paramedics arrived and Williams was taken two miles to the University Hospital of Wales. But he never recovered.

A post-mortem examination carried out by Dr Richard Jones at the University Hospital of Wales recorded a provisional cause of death as multiple stab wounds to the neck and trunk.

The family, who live in Brecon, South Wales, said: ‘Our beloved Will was taken away from us in such a cruel and indescribable way.

Thomas, a computer programmer, is the grandson of Sir Stanley Thomas, 82, who was knighted in 2006 for his charity work and services to business.

His father, also called Stanley Thomas, started selling meat pies in Merthyr Tydfil in the Welsh Valleys.

The business, Peter’s Savoury Products, was sold for £75million in 1988.

His family also owned a fifth share of the TBI group, which owned several airports, including Cardiff.

Area coroner for south Wales central Patricia Morgan told the inquest opening on Tuesday that she could not set a date for a full inquest.

She captioned the clip: ‘I’m at Claridges in London getting ready for @bazaaruk’s Women of the Year awards. I’ve decided to keep it simple with sun-kissed skin and my signature smoky eye. Victoria x’.

Victoria made sure to steal the show at the event as she looked typically stylish in an elegant ivory silk trouser suit while posing with her award shortly after accepting the accolade from her 13-year old daughter, Harper.

Her proud mother Jackie Adams and sister Louise were also present to watch her receive the honour, presented in recognition of the global fashion empire she developed from the ground up following her departure from The Spice Girls.

It comes after her husband David congratulated his wife after she received the prestigious accolade.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, David shared a photo of Victoria and Harper posing together at the event, saying they were the ‘women of the year’.

David wrote: ‘So proud, woman of the year. Maybe it should be women of the year, you both look so beautiful.’    

The event was the latest step in the Beckham’s youngest being branded into a successful dupe of her parents as they continue to push the thirteen-year-old out into the world.

‘Good evening everyone, I’m so excited to be here presenting the entrepreneur award,’ Harper said.

‘Especially as tonight is a school night. And hopefully this isn’t going to get me into trouble.

‘The winner is someone I have always looked up to. She’s built an incredible business from the ground up and has showed me the value of working hard, dreaming big and setting my standards.

‘She’s taught me so much about what it takes to succeed. But above all else she’s taught me to always be kind and even though she has a million things to do, she rarely misses school.

In short, probably not.

The 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution, introduced 1951, prohibits presidents for running more than two total terms.

The rule states that ‘no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice’ and ‘no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once.’

Since Trump was 45th President of the United States from 2016 to 2020 and will soon be the 47th President from 2024, he will have maxed out the tenure by 2028.

However, the incoming leader has suggested that a third term isn’t completely off limits for him.

The 78-year-old mused about being a ‘three-term president’ during a National Rifle Association event in May.

To achieve this, he would need to overturn the 22nd Amendment – entailing an arduous political process that would be unlikely to succeed.

Trump would have to secure a two-thirds vote in both houses of Congress or a constitutional convention called by two-thirds of state legislatures to even propose a new amendment.

This would then require approval from three-quarters of state legislatures or state conventions.

The former president has also previously indicated that he would retire after 2028 rather than challenge the 22nd Amendment.

‘I wouldn’t be in favor of a challenge. Not for me. I wouldn’t be in favor of it at all,’ he told Time magazine in April this year.

‘I intend to serve four years and do a great job. And I want to bring our country back. I want to put it back on the right track.’

Trump’s election victory on Wednesday makes him the first president in over 130 years – and only the second in history – to win a non-consecutive second term.

Only one other American president was re-elected after a gap of four years between terms.

That was Grover Cleveland, who served as the 22nd president after the 1884 election, and as the 24th president after the campaign of 1892.

Cleveland was governor of New York when he was tapped as the Democratic Party’s nominee for president in 1884.

He was known for pushing for a reduction of tariffs that had been put in place during the Civil War, though his second term was marred by economic depressions and industrial strikes.

The 78-year-old politician will also become the oldest president ever inaugurated, beating President Joe Biden‘s record by five months.

 

A royal commentator has suggested Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “going their separate ways” in terms of their professional projects.

The Duke, aged 40, and his 43-year-old Duchess have been spotted going solo at various events, with Meghan gracing the LA Children’s Hospital Gala and a digital wellness event in Santa Barbara, while Harry has been globe-trotting to New York, London, and South Africa for his charitable work.On the Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, Royal expert Phil Dampier remarked: “I think Meghan is genuinely doing a lot of work in the background for this Netflix project and American Riviera Orchard.”

Smith said: “I think their decision to pursue individual brands could indeed work in their favour over the long term, although it’s bound to spark a fair amount of public speculation in the short term.

Prince Harry, during his visit to Africa last month, had an emotional reunion with his old pal, Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. Around a bonfire, he delivered a heartfelt speech about the impact of his charity Sentebale, which aids young people affected by or at risk of HIV.
