GB News star Eamonn Holmes’ ‘difficult’ admission as he sparks concern by ‘disappearing’ from show

Eamonn Holmes confused fans by ‘disappearing’ live on air during his GB News programme shortly after he admitted the show’s changes had been ‘difficult’

GB News viewers were left concerned after Eamonn Holmes appeared to disappear midway through his own programme.

The presenter, 65, was on screen for his breakfast show alongside his new co-star Ellie Costello, who replaced Isabel Webster prior to Christmas. However, during one segment, fans were confused by Eamonn’s apparent disappearing act.

Earlier in the week, Eamonn took to Instagram to welcome Ellie to the panel. Sharing a snap of the happy looking pair sitting at their desk with their notes and GB News branded cups, he wrote: “A New Year , a new day and a new Breakfast line up on @GBNews . It’s now Eamonn and @EllieCostellotv from 6 to 9.30 . It’s Fresh , bright , different and I hope we have your company on TV , online , on your smartphone , on your Radio and by asking your smart device to play GB News. Please join us and say Hello.”

Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway was among those liking the post. This morning, Eamonn took to the comments section to offer an update, saying: “Hi Everyone. Changing programme presenters is a difficult thing but thank you for all your support re the new format.”

Shortly after, the presenter sparked concern during the live show as cameras returned following a sports bulletin and Eamonn was nowhere to be seen. His absence left Ellie needing to go solo for the paper review segment. Fans of the show quickly took to social media to share their concern. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one user wrote: “Why do they never say why someone suddenly goes missing?

Another questioned: “Wheres wally? Sorry Eamonn!,” while another inferred: “Eamon was sounding croaky just now – A&E perhaps.” Despite his absence, another said: “Ellie did well there without Eamon dominating.”

While there was confusion, Eamonn was back at his desk shortly after and continued the show without bringing up his brief disappearance. He promptly resumed news duties, jumping into a conversation about Jess Phillips’ reply to Elon Musk’s blast at the government over the controversy surrounding Oldham.

This disappearing act wasn’t the first time Eamonn has been mysteriously absent. Just last month, he was swapped out for Ben Leo during a presenting reshuffle, which saw his former co-star abruptly replaced.

Away from the show, Eamonn made his first public gesture towards Ruth Langsford last month following their shock split months earlier. Eamonn, who has moved on to a new relationship, joined thousands of others in liking one of his ex’s posts about her hopes for a family Christmas. She took to Instagram to share news of a tragic fall that had hospitalised her 93-year-old mother.

Alongside a picture of her mother’s clasped hands and their half-completed crossword, Langsford wrote: “Hospital visit….thank you all so much for your lovely messages and well wishes for my darling Mum. She’ll be in hospital for a bit longer yet, but she’s in pretty good spirits considering and I hope she’ll be home for Christmas.”

Loose Women star supported by panel over tragic baby loss

Loose Women star Linda Robson has opened up about her own tragic miscarriage, as she shared her story on the ITV show alongside Myleene Klass, who has been campaigning for women’s health

Linda Robson touched the hearts of Loose Women viewers with a poignant revelation about her past, sharing that she lost what would have been her “little girl”.

During Wednesday’s episode, the actress joined Christine Lampard, Coleen Nolan, and newly honoured MBE recipient Myleene Klass in the studio. The panel was celebrating Myleene’s recent MBE for her advocacy on women’s health issues, particularly her work with regards to miscarriage support.

Myleene, the former Hear’Say star, pledged live on the show that her MBE recognition marked “only the beginning” of her efforts to shatter silence around the issue. As the panel commended her bravery and dedication, Linda courageously opened up about her own sorrow, receiving on-air support from her colleagues.

The Birds of A Feather icon recounted her experience with a sense of unease: “I had two pregnancies with no problems and then when I got pregnant for the third time and something didn’t feel right, right from the very beginning.”

Linda opened up to Myleene about her tragic loss on-air

Although Linda had previously mentioned her loss on the show, it was only with Myleene beside her that she felt able to delve deeper into her personal ordeal, reports the Liverpool Echo.

She continued, recalling the moment she sought medical attention: “I rang and asked if I could come in and have an MRI.. a scan to see if everything was ok and they said ‘yeah come in’.”

In a heart-wrenching revelation, the TV star recounted how panic set in when, during a scan with her young son Louis in tow, the sonographer abruptly left to call a doctor. “Then she went to me, ‘I’m just going to go and call somebody, I’m just going to go and call a doctor’ and straight away I knew something was wrong,” revealed the TV star.

She heartbreakingly revealed: “Anyway they came back and said the baby had died inside of me, they sent me home with a dead baby inside of me and then I had to go back the next day and then they gave me suction to remove….”

Myleene has been flying to flag for more support when it comes to miscarriages

Linda shared further sorrowful details: “They said it would have been a little girl but she had an extra chromosome and so she wouldn’t have survived anyway.”

The ITV show regular, alongside her then-partner Mark, grappled with unanswered questions about what they may have done wrongly, pondering if it might’ve been sex or lifting heavy objects that jeopardized their pregnancy, as fellow panellist Myleene Klass offered empathetic support.

“It just wasn’t meant to be and it was very very sad,” Linda somberly added.

  • The Chase star Mark Labbett’s whopping 10-stone weight loss journey after health scare

The Chase star Mark Labbett’s whopping 10-stone weight loss journey after health scare

Mark Labbett, also known as The Beast from The Chase, has undergone a remarkable weight loss transformation over the years after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes

Chaser Mark Labbett, better known as The Beast, has been wowing fans with his incredible weight loss journey.

In a candid chat on This Morning this week, he talked about his days prior to fame when he was an ‘overweight maths teacher’ and not one the country’s most recognisable faces from TV.

At 57, the Devon-born quiz maestro shared the details about the dramatic changes to his life that resulted in a substantial drop in his weight — earning him plenty of praise from admirers. One impressed Twitter user exclaimed, “Mark Labbett has lost some weight – looking good,” while another commented, “Mark looks incredible after dropping the weight. Watching his interview he seems like such a lovely guy.”

Mark, who debuted on the ITV show, hosted by Bradley Walsh, in 2009, hasn’t hidden the fact he’s struggled with his weight and appearance in the past, but he reached a turning point during the Covid lockdown in 2020.

In his school teaching days back in 2003, Mark reportedly tipped the scales at his heaviest – 29 stone. When he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes four years later, he implemented some drastic lifestyle in order to prevent any further decline in his health, reports Plymouth Live.

Embracing a more nutritious diet and ramping up physical activity led to him bidding farewell to a whopping 10 stone. He now claims he’s the fittest and slimmest he’s been in three decades, having lost a total of around 64kg, all while towering impressively at a height of 6ft 6in.

His noticeable weight loss started in the 2020 Covid lockdown but he had already slimmed down by three stone before the country went into lockdown. He put some of the lockdown loss down to running around with his “hyperactive” toddler who was at home with him rather than in nursery.

Speaking on Loose Women last year, he confessed: “I found at the end of the evening instead of going to the fridge for late night snacking, all I could do was collapse on the bed.”

His trusty Labrador Retriever Baloo also contributed to his changes, as discussed on ITV’s The Pet Show with Dermot O’Leary and Joanna Page. “I was walking him around the fields, taking me places… I think he’s helped a lot, simply because I’m doing more activity.”

    Image:
ITV1)Mark, who split from his long-term girlfriend Hayley Palmer last year, also explained that a low-sugar and low-carb diet were key to his “complete nutrition overhaul”, highlighting that he slimmed down without any surgical help after being recommended against a gastric band due to his particular metabolism.

An interesting twist came when Mark experienced a loss of taste and smell, symptoms that led to less eating and added weight loss over a fortnight.

Now that he’s feeling and looking his best, Mark remains a firm fixture on ITV’s The Chase in Britain, despite no longer appearing on the show’s US version – a change that’s been linked to a significant fall in ratings.

  • Drag Race winner Tyra Sanchez posts another vile The Vivienne tweet as fans issue furious demand

Drag Race winner Tyra Sanchez posts another vile The Vivienne tweet as fans issue furious demand

Tyra Sanchez’s disgusting social media rant hours after the news of the death of The Vivienne caused outrage and now fans want RuPaul to take action

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Tyra Sanchez has made another vile ‘crematorium’ joke after the tragic death of The Vivienne.

Tyra first sparked outrage shortly after the tragic news that The Vivienne, real name James Lee William, had died aged 32 on January 5. Tyra took to social media within hours to share a string of tweets written in response to a 2020 post by The Vivienne.

In a tweet almost five years old, The Vivienne had written: “Bet Tyra was fuming when she Realised Netflix Spoiled the win Too. Sorry gal. You Tried though.” Adding a new response, Tyra penned: “Yet it doesn’t compare to the fumes of the crematorium.”

Tyra has now appeared to double down and yesterday posted a photo of a crematorium with the words ‘songs I would play if I owned a crematorium’ written across it. Alicia Keys’ Girl on Fire played in the background.

The backlash to Tyra’s recent post was swift, with disgusted comments quickly piling up beneath the post on X, formerly Twitter.

One person raged: “You are so f****** disgusting.” Another social media user echoed: “How sad that you once had the status of a queen and now you are just a despicable vagabond hungry for a pitiful show, laaaaaame.” Someone else added: “Girl, you were too scared to reply when The Vivienne was alive so you had to clap back after they had passed? You’re sad get a life.”

Fans have also called on RuPaul to strip Tyra of her Drag Race crown in the wake of her vile outbursts. On X, one Drag Race fan begged: “@RuPaul take away Tyra Sanchez’s win now. The s**t she posted had no right to allow her to stay in the hall of fame, she is a disgrace to the planet and to the fandom and you should discard anything related to her as you did Sherry Pie. Letting this slide is a big f**k up.”

Another added: “I think #RuPaul should take the crown from Tyra Sanchez and give it to #Raven in a symbolic but powerful act. The level of disrespect that girl has, already crossed all limits with her comments about The Vivienne. Do the right thing Mama Ru.”

A third wrote: “Strip Tyra Sanchez of her Crown for Disrespecting Late Queen.” Tyra has since responded to calls to have her stripped of her title, raging in a social media post: “Calling for a crown/title that I could give two f***s about is stupid. You’re the only ones caught up in that fairytale. It means absolutely nothing. Y’all been hollering 15min for 15 years. F**k that crown. F**k @RuPaul F**k @RuPaulsDragRace F**k @WorldOfWonder and f**k you too.”

The Vivienne’s death was confirmed on Sunday and shared by their publicist and friend Simon Jones. He took to Twitter/X to share a statement that read: “It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams – The Vivienne, has passed this weekend.

“James was an incredibly loved, warm- hearted and amazing person. Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother and uncle. They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career. We will not be releasing any further details. We please ask that James’s family are given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve.”

Shortly after the tragic news was announced, RuPaul paid an emotional tribute, saying: “With a broken heart, I join the entire Drag Race universe in mourning the loss of the Vivienne – an incredibly talented queen and a lovely human being.”

The Mirror has reached out to Tyra for comment.

Coronation Street’s Daisy Midgeley quits after 4 years as she becomes fifth star to leave in weeks

Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy, has quit the popular soap, becoming the fifth star to leave the cobbles in recent weeks

Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan, who plays barmaid Daisy Midgeley, has quit the ITV soap and is expected to leave the series later this year. Charlotte joined the cast of the soap in 2020, but has announced that after four years she has decided to “explore other opportunities.”

Charlotte said: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.”

A source told The Sun that “Charlotte has loved her time on the cobbles but is young, ambitious and hungry to see what else is out there for her. She told bosses last April that her next contract would be her last, giving them a year to craft an exciting exit storyline. She’s still filming now and her final scenes will play out in early summer. She’s adored by cast and crew and will be hugely missed.”

    Charlotte Jordan
Charlotte won a soap award for her portrayal of an acid attack victim
During her time on the cobbles, Charlotte’s character Daisy has been central to a blackmail plot, and was stalked by Justin Rutherford, which culminated in Daisy and Ryan being the victims of an acid attack. Both the Katie Piper Foundation and Acid Survivors Trust International supported the production team when the scenes were filmed, and provided information on the long term impact of an acid attack.

At the time, soap boss Iain MacLeod said: “We were keen to show the long-term reality for people who are subjected to this kind of attack. It is something we might often read about in the papers but perhaps don’t fully understand, in terms of the depth and variety of effects it can have. As well as the medical impacts, we explore the social fallout of having your appearance profoundly changed, both in terms of your own ability to process that and how the wider world reacts to you.”

    Coronation Street
Charlotte has had some intense storylines since she joined Coronation Street
“The story will at times be heartbreaking but we felt it was an important one to tell.”

Following the stalking storyline, Charlotte won the British Soap award for Best Dramatic Performance in 2023.

After the New Year departure of actress Helen Worth, who played Gail for 50 years, four more actors are due to leave in 2025, alongside Charlotte. Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker, Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, and Sue Devaney (Debbie Webster) are all set to leave in the coming months, while Luca Toolan, who played Mason Radcliffe, has already departed.

Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt, is also due to leave, but only temporarily. Lucy announced that she is expecting a baby, so Bethany will be written out for a time while Lucy is on maternity leave.

Ruth Langsford ‘throwing divorce party to celebrate being free from Eamonn Holmes’

Loose Ruth Langsford is said to be planning a big party to celebrate her divorce from ex Eamonn Holmes as he moves on with relationship therapist Katie Alexander

Newly single Ruth Langsford has some big plans for when her divorce from Eamonn Holmes, 65, is officially confirmed.

The Loose Women anchor, 65, has been leaning on celebrity pals like Rylan Clark and Coleen Nolan in the wake of her marriage ending while her estranged husband has moved on with 42-year-old relationship counsellor Katie Alexander since the former couple announced they were going their separate ways last year.

As Eamonn focuses his attention on a new relationship, Ruth is far more concerned with having fun with her pals – with a huge divorce party reportedly being planned for when Ruth is legally free of her ex. The TV presenter is thought to have said “life begins after divorce” following her shock split.

Ruth and Eamonn announced the had parted ways in May after 14 years of marriage. The exes, who once presented ITV show This Morning together, first met in 1996 and welcoming son Jack Holmes, 22, into the world in 2002 before at Elvetham Hall in Hampshire in June 2010.

Since announcing her split from Eamonn, Ruth has reportedly thrown herself into work and been prioritising self-care amid rumours Eamonn is planning to pop the question to his new partner Katie. After toasting the New Year with friends, it’s thought Ruth is planning a big bash to mark her divorce once it goes through.

The mum-of-one is said to admit her split from Eamonn has “not been without its horrible days” but her friends have helped her get through the turmoil. According to one insider, trips to the hairdresser and “shopping for a new wardrobe” have been Ruth’s form of therapy.

“Ruth’s sass is definitely back. She’s ready for new adventures, and who knows, a man – if and when, it’s on her terms,” a source tells Heat magazine when discussing Ruth’s future post-Eamonn. “For now, girls’ nights and piña coladas are filling the void. Ruth has a force field of friends – they’re her armour and they give her great advice.”

Over the week, Ruth gave her followers a significant update on her mum’s health, following her hospitalisation before Christmas due to a broken pelvis. Joan, 94, sustained the painful injury in a fall, causing Ruth great concern and leading her to keep fans updated on her progress via social media.

However, there’s been a major health breakthrough for the Loose Women star’s mum, as Ruth announced that she was finally discharged and able to return home. Sharing the positive news with her Instagram followers, Ruth posted a video showing her mum back at home, enjoying quality time with her dog, Maggie.

Set to Everly Fair’s cover of I Love You Always Forever, Ruth captioned: “SHE’S HOME! ! ! Mum is finally out of hospital! Thank you to all the nursing staff at St.Peter’s Hospital and Woking Community Hospital for taking such good care of her. As you can see, Maggie is VERY happy to have her home!”

Last month, news broke that Joan had suffered a fall while preparing for Christmas festivities. Ruth shared a video of her elderly mum dancing in the kitchen while peeling vegetables and wrote: “No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas….She’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis! She’s ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness but she needs rest and time to heal now. She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon.”

This marked the second time in two years that Joan had fallen and broken something during the festive season, having previously broken her hip in 2023.

Ruth Langsford issues heartwarming tribute to late sister as she admits ‘it drives me’

ITV Loose Women star Ruth Langsford has opened up on her heartbreak over her sister Julia’s death, revealing how it’s inspired her to ‘live her life well’ every day.

During a recent episode of Loose Women, ITV panellist Janet Street-Porter opened up about her reflections on life after celebrating her 78th birthday. She admitted to feeling increasingly conscious of being the last surviving member of her immediate family, following the deaths of her parents and younger sister.

Janet shared a nostalgic photo online from her birthday with her sister, explaining to her fellow Loose Women that it was a significant moment for her to reminisce and reflect.

Ruth Langsford chimed in on the topic of ageing and remembering deceased family members, saying: “I’m 65 this year, it’s very easy to slip into that, ‘Oh god, I can’t believe I’m 65, I’m so old’. I don’t, I now have to look forward and think, ‘How amazing I’m 65, I’m here, I’m alive, I’m standing up’.”

The ITV star also spoke about the heartbreaking loss of her sister Julia, revealing that she always remembers her on her birthday. She said: “I remember when she died thinking, ‘I must live my life well because she didn’t get the chance’. She wouldn’t want me being sad forever without her. So, that kind of drives me on.

Ruth’s younger sister tragically took her own life in 2019 at the age of 62. Julia had been struggling with depression for many years prior to her untimely death, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Following the tragedy, Ruth took a hiatus from her presenting duties to grieve for her sister. Ruth Langsford previously opened up about her way of coping with sorrow, revealing on the show that she would often cry in the shower to release her emotions.

She confessed in 2022 to her co-stars: “When my sister died, I had good cries in the shower because it’s very private. “I think if you’re in the bathroom, whether you like a bath or a shower, it’s that shut the door and nobody really disturbs you. I could have a good old, proper old, loud snotty cry and get that out of my system.”

In another heartfelt moment on the show, Coleen Nolan reflected on her late sister Bernie and the impact that her memory has on her perspective on life’s struggles.

She shared with fellow panellists that she tells herself: “Whenever I get down about things or really worried about things, I just bring myself back into the moment and I go, ‘Yeah, but Bernie would love to be here with those problems and she’s not.’

“Then with birthdays, obviously as you get older, I’ve got my 60th coming up in March, people go, ‘Oh, you’re 60, you’re getting on’ and all that.

“To me, it’s cheesy I know but honestly, because of things that have happened in the past and losing loved ones when it was way too soon to loose them, it makes me celebrate when I wake up in the morning, let alone if it’s my 60th. I literally wake up and go, ‘I’m still here, I’m alive.’”

BBC star issues warning to Greg James after being axed from Radio 1

Greg James issued an apology for his ‘gentle trolling’ of Neil Young that confused fans on social media, but he has been warned by a former BBC employee

A BBC star has sent a warning to Greg James after revealing he had been axed from Radio One.

Presenter Greg, 39, issued an apology to fans after a post hinted he had quit his morning show. Followers of BBC Radio One’s Breakfast Show had shared their fear that he was leaving after he made fun of Neil Young’s Glastonbury U-turn; the singer has agreed once again to perform at the iconic festival after initially pulling out.

He shared a reel of slides, initially claiming he was “no able to continue” to work for the organisation due to a change in events. Despite his post being a joke, Greg was forced into explaining what was going on in an Instagram post. He uploaded a video alongside his wife, Bella Mackie, to share the joke with his followers, insisting it was just a bit of “gentle trolling”.

However, one former BBC star was quick to comment on Greg’s explanation with a word of warning. Phil Taggart joked writing alongside a laughing emoji: “I got binned for playing Joy Division. They’ve marked your cards with this Neil Young joke.”

Phil’s words were warmly received by followers clicking the like button. Phil left his role at the BBC in 2020. He had started with the organisation in 2013, where he was the host of BBC Introducing in Northern Ireland. Shortly after, he took on a job on Radio 1’s national programmes.

In Greg’s initial post, he wrote: “Radio 1 is a corporate turn off, and not for me like it used to be”. He claimed he was instead be focusing on his “many podcasts”.

Further along the reel, he said there had been an “error” and insisted he would indeed return to hosting the morning show. Greg’s mocking saw him write: “Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not do the breakfast show, which I always have loved. Happily the radio show is now back on my itinerary and we look forward to being there when you need some fun in the morning! Hope to see you there.”

This was in reference to Neil’s statement, in which the artist said: “Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury Festival, which I always have loved. Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing. Hope to see you there.”

After a selection of images on Greg’s joke post, the radio presenter added: “Looking forward to management’s reaction to a Neil Young Glastonbury joke. I might have inadvertently ruined my first day back. Made me laugh though so that’s good at least.”

In this latest series, Maggie Steed steps into the shoes of Harriet Maven, the new Head of The Lyell Centre, while Francesca Mills brings to life Kit Brooks, a Crime Analyst who collaborates with Jack.

The blurb for the opening episode reveals: “Part one of two. The body of an elderly woman is found in a cave, her fingerprints burnt off and a bunch of foxgloves by her side that she didn’t pick herself.

“The mystery deepens when it emerges that she passed away three months prior to her body being found. Jack is uneasy about the arrival of their new boss, Professor Harriet Maven (Maggie Steed),” reports the Express.

However, no sooner had the new series kicked off than fans took to social media to air their views, with many noticing a couple of familiar faces missing from the enduring drama.

Viewers were quick to query the whereabouts of Velvy (Alastair Michael) and Gabriel (Aki Omoshaybi).

One fan posted on X: “No Velvey or Gabriel? Not a good start.”

One viewer tweeted, “Subtle way of telling us Velvy’s b****red off then #SilentWitness,” while another chimed in with, “So that explains why Gabriel and Velvy have left. I had thought Gabriel would be to do with the university and I’m so pleased for Velvy. Jack has been a good mentor and inspiration to him.”

Another fan lamented the loss of a character’s charm: “And just as I was warming to Velvey’s infectious smile, they’ve binned him off. #silentwitness.”

Curiosity is brewing among the audience, with one person asking, “Will Velvy and Gabriel be returning to this series? #SilentWitness,”.

The absence of beloved characters has not gone unnoticed, as one disappointed fan posted, “No Gabriel, Velvy or Cara is disappointing #silentwitness.” (sic).

Anticipation builds for the next instalment, with the synopsis teasing viewers: “As Benjamin continues his search for Gloria, Nikki makes a disturbing discovery that brings them closer to the truth.

“The plot thickens with the introduction of a fresh face at the Lyell, while Lauren and Gary find themselves entangled in an unexpected scam.”

Silent Witness returns on Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One.
