David and Victoria Beckham’s kids don’t mind being on their parents’ social media — as long as they have photo approval!

On Sept. 27, the retired soccer player, 49, joked on Instagram that his sons, Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 19, and daughter Harper, 13, had to “approve” of the picture he posted before sharing it with his 88.4 million followers.

The snapshot shows the four Beckhams in chic looks before heading off to Victoria’s fashion show in Paris.

In the sweet snap, Romeo wears all-black and wraps his arm around Harper, who wears a baby pink slip gown and sandals. The two are looked at lovingly by David, who wears a navy suit and tie, while Cruz flashes a smile in a loose-fitted button-down and trousers.

“On the way to Mum’s show and trying to get a picture was a little challenging. ‘Dad before you post it we all have to approve,’ “ the Beckham star captioned the post.

Brooklyn, 25, and his wife Nicole, 29, were absent from the photoshoot, but met the rest of the family inside.

David also shared how proud he was of his wife, who launched her eponymous fashion line in 2008 and has been debuting her collections in Paris for the past two years. “We love you mum and are so proud of you,” he added.

Clips of Harper recording her mom’s designs and Victoria taking her walk, were shown during the Instagram livestream of the show. Gigi Hadid also modeled in a striking green dress.

Victoria shared a video of her final bow on Instagram, thanking the audience and her team.

“What an amazing night! Thank you so much to my incredible team, I love you all. Kisses from Paris xx Victoria,” she captioned the video.

The Beckhams are front row regulars at Victoria’s runway shows and they come dressed to impress.

In March, the whole ménage (minus Romeo) cheered on the former pop star, 50, as she took a final bow on crutches after presenting her fall/winter 2024 collection. The show marked her first following her accident at the gym that resulted in her breaking her foot.

Victoria and David wed in 1999 and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this past July.

Prince Harry’s nanny claimed Duke showed undesirable personality trait as a baby

In a previous interview a lady-in-waiting to Princess Margaret said the Duke’s nanny had commented on his character at an early age.

Prince Harry was said to have been “born angry” according to his nanny, a former Lady-in-Waiting to the Royal Family has claimed.

Lady Anne Glenconner, who served Princess Margaret, made the claims in an interview with former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown in which she claimed to have heard the comments from nanny Barbara Barnes.

Ms Barnes worked looking after Lady Glenconner’s children for 12 years before taking up a role serving under Princess Diana and then-Prince Charles.

Lady Glenconner’s best-selling novel “Whatever Next? Lessons from an Unexpected Life” detailed her incredible life moving in royal circles and in a recently published video she recounted some stories to Ms Brown from her book.

According to Newsweek, Lady Glenconner said: “Barbara adored Prince William. Harry, I think, was a bit more difficult when he was small.

Ms Brown asked: “You mentioned something she said about Harry?”

Lady Glencooner replied: “That he was born angry.”

Ms Barnes worked for Prince Charles and Princess Diana from 1982 until 1986. She was the daughter of an estate worker and started working for the Royal Family when she was 42. According to the Daily Mail, she was affectionately nicknamed Baba

In a rare statement to the press, Ms Barnes said she treated royal babies just the same as everyone else, saying: “I treat all children as individuals… I’m here to help the princess, not take over.”

Last night, the Duke of Sussex gave an emotional nod to his late mother Princess Diana during his acceptance speech at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.

Harry expressed his “biggest gratitude to everyone in the Pat Tillman foundation” and acknowledged his mother Mary Tillman, saying: “Her advocacy for Pat’s legacy is deeply personal and one that I respect.”

Then in a sweet nod to Princess Diana, he added: “The bond between a mother and son is eternal and transcends even the greatest loses.”

King Charles’s true feelings were revealed just 24 hours before he and Princess Diana were meant to walk down the aisle together.

When rumours of their marriage first swirled the then Prince Charles and Princess Diana were considered to be a fairy-tale couple, but things were not so rosy behind closed doors, according to Lady Diana’s former astrologer.

Back in 2020, Penny Thornton made the claim that Charles told Diana his true feelings just 24 hours before they were due to walk down the aisle.

Speaking in the ITV documentary titled ‘The Diana Interview: Revenge of a Princess’, Penny Thornton said: “One of the most shocking things that Diana told me was the night before the wedding, Charles told her that he didn’t love her.”

As reported in OK! Magazine, the astrologer added: “And that was truly a terrible thing to do to your bride. You know, that you’re going to marry in St Paul’s Cathedral the very next day.”

Charles and Diana were married for 11 years, but decided to separate in 1992. They continued their royal duties before officially divorcing in 1996.

Princess Diana, then 20, married Charles, then 32, in a lavish wedding ceremony in St Paul’s Cathedral on July 29, 1981. After the wedding, the newlyweds kissed on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in front of cheering crowds.

But 11 years later, Princess Diana and Prince Charles announced their separation in 1992, bringing the farce of their unhappy marriage to an end. Buckingham Palace said: “The fact is that, with great sadness, they have recognised that their continuing relationship would be better under separate domestic arrangements.”

Diana and Charles finally divorced on August 28 1996 after 15 years of marriage and affairs on both sides. Diana tragically died on August 31 1997, following a fatal car crash in Paris, France.

A former royal butler, Grand Harold claimed Charles and the late princess “worked well together as a team” and were “best friends” for some time.

Mr Harold explained: “I honestly believe that before Diana’s death, Charles and Diana’s relationship was in a good place and they were working well together as a team. They understood each other’s boundaries and wanted to be friends.

“They wanted to be there for one another and have each other’s backs. With their separation, of course, it was tough for both of them. They were both hurt.”

Wedding day of Queen Camilla and King Charles

Swathes of the public struggled to accept Charles and Camilla’s relationship (Image: Getty)

Charles came under heavy scrutiny after admitting his relationship with Camilla had resumed while he was married to Diana, having first met her in the seventies.

He stated in a 1994 interview that he had been faithful to her “until it became irretrievably broken down, us both having tried”.

Swathes of the public struggled to accept Charles and Camilla’s relationship despite their marriage in a civil ceremony at Windsor on April 9, 2005.

Camilla saw the public attribute blame for King Charles and Princess Diana’s divorce to her, as such she’s had to fight for the nation’s approval ever since entering the royal fold – with a PR expert stating after many years, she has “earned the public’s acceptance”.

Princess Diana’s brutal prediction about Camilla comes true as popularity surges

As Queen Camilla prepares to mark her 77th birthday, a Royal commentator has shared a surprising prediction made by the late Princess Diana over 30 years ago.

The bond between King Charles and Queen Camilla, spanning over five decades, has been highlighted in recent months as the Queen Consort’s presence becomes increasingly vital to the monarch. Amid a year fraught with Royal health scares, including the King’s own cancer diagnosis, Queen Camilla’s role has become crucial as she steps up to maintain the stability of the monarchy.

As her 77th birthday approaches, more individuals are recognising Camilla’s contributions. One Royal commentator even suggested that this was something predicted by Charles’ first wife, the late Princess Diana, over three decades ago.

Reflecting on the Queen’s transformation in recent months, former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond commended Camilla for excelling in her new role.

Speaking to OK! she said: “I think she might have surprised herself by enjoying hard work as much as she seems to be doing! ”

“She is, after all, a woman who has never had to commit to a solid career or the grind of a 9 to 5 job. She has taken on a significantly increased workload and a massive amount of responsibility in the past few months – and is looking and sounding great on it! “, reports the Mirror.

While stepping into the limelight to assume so many duties as many senior royals, including Catherine, Princess of Wales and Princess Anne currently remain out of action, may seem like a daunting task – it’s a challenge that Camilla has risen to, partly Jennie believes, out of devotion to her husband.

Linking the Queen’s dedication to her profound bond with King Charles, Jennie mentioned: “I think part of it is because she so much wants the man she loves to be proud of her, and to pull her weight in their partnership.

Notably, she also underscored the significance of Duchess Camilla gaining acceptance from a public that once detested her.

“It must be so gratifying to have earned widespread approval – even affection – from a public who once ganged up against her as the ‘marriage breaker’ and the ‘other woman’ who made Diana so unhappy,” Jennie added.

In a rather unexpected revelation, the former BBC star confessed that Princess Diana had once predicted this level of devotion and commitment.

    Princess Diana

Princess Diana previously predicted the strength of Camilla’s loyalty, according to one expert (Image: Getty)

She said: “I think Diana was absolutely right to tell me that Camilla was ‘loyal’ and that Charles’ love for Camilla was stronger than any marriage he might ever have made.”

Reflecting on the Queen’s journey since she stepped into the Royal limelight, Jennie complimented her growth in confidence, shrewdly remarking: “What a contrast to those early days when she looked and sounded so very nervous if she had to speak in public. Now she is assured, confident and comfortable in her new and very demanding role.”

Ryan Reynolds Breaks Silence on Meghan Markle’s Titles: 'She’s No Longer Duchess'
Megan Markle’s Emotional Journey: Ryan Reynolds Weighs In on Her Title Change

Megan Markle, once a royal star, now faces a new chapter, with the world watching as she tries to find her place. Ryan Reynolds, the Deadpool star, has recently spoken out, adding a dramatic twist to her story.

When Megan married Prince Harry, she entered a world of high expectations. But not everything was as it seemed. After stepping back from royal duties, her title as Duchess of Sussex sparked debate. Imagine the pressure of wearing a crown. Megan is now trying to navigate both public opinion and her own dreams—a tough journey.

Titles are more than just names; they can open doors or create barriers. Megan’s title, once a symbol of honor, began to feel like a burden as she and Harry moved forward. But what does Ryan Reynolds think about all this? Just when we thought we had the full picture, here comes the unexpected twist.

Ryan Reynolds made a surprising comment about Megan’s title change, known for his humor. He jokingly said, “She’s no longer the Duchess.” His light-hearted remark, however, touched on deeper themes of identity. Could laughter heal tension? Reynolds’ comments brought mixed reactions. Some laughed, while others reflected on the emotional impact of losing a title. It’s like realizing your favorite sweater no longer fits. What do you do then?

As Megan faces this emotional roller coaster, her perspective is key. She is more than just a public figure—she’s a mother, wife, and woman seeking her true identity. In moments of vulnerability, we find strength. Megan’s tears weren’t just about losing a title—they were about the weight of expectations and finding her voice. Have you ever felt that pressure?

The public loves celebrity news, and Megan and Harry’s lives are under constant scrutiny. But what’s the toll on their mental health? Fame brings intense scrutiny—every mistake magnified, every moment of vulnerability exposed. How would you handle that?

By shedding her title, Megan is also leaving behind an old identity. This could be her chance to redefine herself on her own terms. With freedom comes responsibility—what will Megan choose next? The possibilities are endless.

Ryan Reynolds’ comments, though simple, spark a larger conversation. His humor invites us to think about our own views on titles and identity. Having allies can make all the difference, especially during times of change. Who stands by you when the chips are down? Every comment and headline shapes the narrative we create around public figures. How can we ensure our words uplift rather than tear down?

Imagine a world where conversations about public figures were rooted in empathy rather than judgment. What impact would that have on mental health and public perception?

As Megan Markle navigates this complex landscape, we are reminded that identity is fluid. Titles may change, but the essence of who we are remains constant. Megan’s journey is just the beginning of a much larger conversation about identity, fame, and the human experience.

What do you think about Megan’s journey? How do you feel about titles and identity in the public eye? Share your thoughts below and let’s keep the conversation going. Your perspective matters, and together, we can create a more empathetic dialogue around these important issues.

One of the key players in this unfolding drama is undoubtedly the media. The way stories are spun can significantly influence public perception and the narrative surrounding figures like Megan Markle. Headlines that hit hard, like “Megan Markle cried in shame,” capture attention but also perpetuate a narrative that could be damaging. It’s sensationalism at its finest, but why do we gravitate toward these stories?

We love a good story, don’t we? Drama, conflict, and resolution are staples of human interest. But at what cost? We often forget that behind every headline is a person with feelings, dreams, and struggles. So how do we break free from the cycle of sensationalism? By demanding better from our media sources, we can encourage more thoughtful reporting that prioritizes empathy and understanding over clickbait.

Through interviews, podcasts, and written works, Megan Markle has taken control of her narrative. Sharing one’s story can be incredibly cathartic. Megan has used her platform to discuss issues like mental health, racism, and the struggle for self-identity. In doing so, she not only empowers herself but also inspires others facing similar challenges. Have you ever felt inspired by someone’s story?

Megan’s journey reminds us that it’s okay to be vulnerable and to share our experiences. Through vulnerability, we build deeper connections and empathy. In this way, sharing stories can heal, not only the storyteller but also those who listen.

Throughout her journey, Megan has leaned on her support system—friends, family, and mental health professionals. This highlights an essential truth: we all need a safety net during difficult times. Building your own support network is crucial. Who do you turn to when life gets tough?

Just as Megan has done through various platforms, consider creating safe spaces where you can express your thoughts freely. This could be a journal, a blog, or even a close circle of friends.

As we reflect on Megan’s journey, the question remains: What comes next? With her new identity and strong voice, the possibilities are limitless. She has already begun exploring new ventures, from her podcast Archetypes to collaborations and charitable initiatives. How can we embrace change and seek out opportunities in our own lives? Innovation often means stepping out of our comfort zones. What risks are you ready to take for your passions?

We have the power to shape stories by engaging with content that promotes kindness. Imagine if media focused on kindness—how would that change the stories we see?

Megan Markle shows us that our identities are more than titles; they are shaped by our experiences and choices.

Megan Markle’s story sparks a broader conversation about celebrity culture and its impact on society. Fame offers opportunities and wealth, but it also invites scrutiny and pressure to conform. Celebrities face immense pressure to maintain an image, and every mistake is magnified. How can we change our expectations of them?

What does success mean for celebrities today? Megan encourages us to see success as authenticity, personal fulfillment, and genuine connections.

Social media shapes narratives today. For Megan, it has been both a blessing and a curse. How can we use it to create supportive communities?

Finding a healthy balance in social media is key. Curating your feed and engaging in positive conversations can make online spaces more uplifting.

Megan Markle’s journey teaches us about resilience. Her ability to navigate challenges and advocate for herself and others is inspiring.

One key lesson from Megan is the power of self-advocacy. Standing up for oneself, even in adversity, is crucial.

Know your worth, understand your value, and communicate clearly. Surround yourself with advocates who believe in your goals.

Vulnerability is often seen as weakness, but it is actually a source of strength. By embracing vulnerability, we can build deeper connections and empathy.

Catherine, Princess of Wales: A Style Icon with the Occasional Fashion Misstep

Catherine, the Princess of Wales, is celebrated for her timeless elegance and impeccable style. Over the years, her transformation from a reserved university student to a confident working royal and mother of four has been remarkable. While Catherine is known for her sophisticated wardrobe and sensational fashion moments, she has also faced a few rare and unexpected fashion missteps.

During her and Prince William’s royal tour of Sweden and Norway, a pregnant Catherine stunned in a blue velvet gown by London-based designer Erdem. The dress featured a white floral print, trumpet sleeves, a high neckline, and velvet bands accentuating her neck and waist. She completed the look with black suede heels, silver earrings, her wedding ring, and a neat updo. Her makeup was kept soft with smoky brown eyes, blush, and a light pink lip.

While many admired her look, the dress divided opinion. Critics on social media felt it overwhelmed her frame and deviated from her usual chic, understated style. One user on X (formerly Twitter) remarked, “Catherine is in another Erdem dress made from furnishing fabric… and why the black shoes?” Another simply tweeted, “Yikes!”

However, this fashion misstep didn’t overshadow the rest of her tour, where Catherine continued to dazzle with her sartorial choices.

Catherine’s wardrobe during the Scandinavian tour also paid homage to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. At a dinner hosted by the British ambassador, she wore a pearl bracelet and earrings that once belonged to Diana. Additionally, her red-and-white houndstooth coat reminded many of a similar Moschino outfit worn by Diana in 1990.

On the last day of their visit to Sweden, Catherine and William attended an event at the Fotografiska Gallery with Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden. Catherine wore another Erdem creation, while Prince William complemented her in a bright royal blue suit paired with a crisp white shirt and printed tie.

The royal couple also spent time with Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel’s children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar. The young royals charmed everyone with their smiles, with Princess Estelle wearing a light gray dress and Prince Oscar holding hands with his mother and sister as they greeted the Waleses.

Back in the UK, Prince George and Princess Charlotte remained at school and nursery, respectively, while their parents focused on the royal duties of the tour.

Earlier that day, Catherine and William visited the Karolinska Institute to learn about Sweden’s innovative approaches to mental health and child well-being. The couple explored how the Swedish education system supports young people in navigating mental health challenges—a topic close to their hearts.

As their tour continued to Norway, Catherine and William were set to stay at the Royal Palace of King Harald and Queen Sonja, where they would meet with Norwegian royals. Fashion enthusiasts speculated whether Catherine would debut another Erdem gown or pay tribute to Diana with one final stunning look before their return to London.

Catherine’s ability to balance her royal responsibilities, motherhood, and public appearances is nothing short of impressive. Her fashion journey, blending high-street finds with couture masterpieces, reflects her unique approach to modern royal life. Even with the occasional style misstep, she remains a true jewel in the British royal crown.

  • “Prince Charles Was Completely Overshadowed”: The Forgotten Story Of Princess Diana’s First Revenge Dress

“Prince Charles Was Completely Overshadowed”: The Forgotten Story Of Princess Diana’s First Revenge Dress

Almost 13 years before she made headlines for wearing a “revenge” dress on the night Prince Charles confessed his adultery on TV, Lady Diana Spencer made her first public appearance with her fiancé in a dress that scandalised the British press and overshadowed the future King. Here, Vogue looks back at the late Princess’s first act of fashion rebellion.

When the Lord Chancellor announced Prince Charles’s engagement to Lady Diana Spencer on 24 February 1981, American Vogue promptly commissioned a table laying out the betrotheds’ “cars, clubs, income [and] endearing mannerisms”. Charles, readers learned in the May 1981 issue, loved Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn’s works on the Gulag, was nicknamed Action Man and Golden Eagle, counted Verdi as his favourite composer (with a particular fondness for La Traviata), and habitually wore both Turnbull & Asser shirts and Penhaligon’s cologne. Diana, on the other hand, was fanatical about Not the Nine O’Clock News, known to her friends as “Shy Di”, and was given to “endearing sideways glances”.

The starkest difference between the two, however, was their romantic history. Historian Andrew Barrow listed out 23 of the 32-year-old Charles’s former paramours for Vogue, including Princess Marie Astrid of Luxembourg, Anna “Whiplash” Wallace and Diana’s sister Lady Sarah Spencer. Precisely no one, however, was name checked as a former love interest for the 19-year-old Diana, who had been selected as the royal bride in no small part because of Buckingham Palace’s insistence that Charles marry a virgin. The Queen Mother, in particular, felt the “sweetness and modesty” of “the Spencer girl” made her an ideal candidate for the role of Princess of Wales.

Diana was a startlingly cosseted teenager in the Jilly Cooper age, a waif whose most notable academic achievements included the Palmer Cup for Pets’ Corner at Sevenoaks (she was devoted to her guinea pig, Peanuts), and who kept a toy frog on the hood of her Mini Metro, a reminder that she would one day meet her prince. It’s difficult to blame the much more experienced Charles for struggling to perceive her as a serious life partner – “She is exquisitely pretty, a perfect poppet… but she is a child,” he reportedly said during their all-too-brief courtship – and her air of girlish innocence was only emphasised by her clothes.

Prior to her engagement, it was Diana’s mother, Frances Shand Kydd, who selected her wardrobe for her, which meant she frequently wore dowdy garden-party hats from milliner John Boyd and blousy, floral dresses courtesy of Donald Campbell. It would be British Vogue who came to Diana’s sartorial aid – particularly its fashion editor, Anna Harvey. “The first time I met Lady Diana Spencer was in 1980, in the editor’s office,” Harvey recalled in a tribute in the October 1997 issue. “Her sisters had worked at Vogue, and we thought we might be able to help with her image. I’d called in far too many clothes because I had absolutely no idea of the kind of thing she liked. By the time she arrived, I was shaking like a leaf, but I took one look at her and thought, This isn’t going to be too difficult after all.”

“Black to me was the smartest colour you could possibly have at the age of 19,” Diana later explained of wearing the Emanuels’ gown. “It was a real grown-up dress.”

     Getty Images
For an early Vogue portrait taken by Snowdon before Charles had formally proposed, Harvey selected a rosy silk chiffon blouse for Diana to wear by the Emanuels, whose offices were just down the road from Vogue House on Mayfair’s Brook Street. The designers’ studio – then a haunt for celebrities ranging from Bianca Jagger to Lulu – would become a haven for “Shy Di” in the months that followed, when she began to feel less secure in the fairytale she was supposedly enacting. In that era, whenever she tried to choose her own looks without Harvey and her cohort’s input, it backfired. Case in point: for the landmark BBC interview to coincide with Buckingham Palace’s engagement announcement, Diana had gone shopping at Harrods with Frances, plucking a royal-blue Cojana London suit and pussy-bow blouse off the rack of the Knightsbridge store. Even the most fawning media outlets had to admit it made her look matronly, old-fashioned and – to quote Tina Brown – like a “Sloane on the frontispiece of Country Life”.

The above look was a marked departure from the suit Diana had worn for a recent BBC interview.

     Getty Images
Said outfit only deepened the world’s impression of Diana as naive and childlike. “Shy, innocent, modest, retiring, demure, and coy, the girl next door… These are just some of the labels which have stuck to Lady Diana Spencer during the intense speculation leading up to yesterday’s announcement of her engagement to Prince Charles,” declared The Times. “It was for some of these reasons that she has seemed to many people such an eminently suitable choice to become the first Princess of Wales since 1901 and the future Queen of England… At the age of 19, she is young enough not to have been seriously involved with other men – something that is said to have been an important consideration to Prince Charles and his advisers… Her youth is in contrast to some of the older and more independent women whom Charles has previously accompanied.”

Prudence Glynn was one of the noted fashion journalists to criticise Diana’s gown: “Nobody wears a strapless dress to an occasion on which she will be seated most of the time. Why? Because you look as though you are sitting in a hip bath, silly!”

     Getty Image

Across the Atlantic, the New York Times echoed the words of its London counterpart in the wake of the BBC interview, reporting that Diana “loves children, avoids nightclubs and stylish parties, and blushes engagingly whenever she is sighted by the posse of press photographers who have been pursuing her for months”. “She is described by her friends as gentle and shy,” the story continues. “During the ordeal of pursuit to which Fleet Street reporters have subjected her in recent months, she has shown good humour and patience, although once, surprised by photographers at the wheel of her red Mini Metro, she burst into tears.” Ominously, the piece concludes with a quote from Diana: “I know it’s just a job they have to do, but sometimes I do wish they wouldn’t.”

Image may contain Grace Kelly Diana Princess of Wales Cornell Borchers Izzy Stradlin Person Accessories and Jewelry

Princess Grace of Monaco was also in attendance at Goldsmiths’ Hall that night. When Diana confided in her about her fears for the future, Grace simply replied: “Don’t worry; it will get a lot worse.”

     Getty Images
Still, Diana would soon realise that she could use said Fleet Street reporters to her own ends. The future royal had already twigged that Charles’s affections were divided; famously, it’s during this period that she returned to Clarence House to find a letter from Camilla Parker Bowles congratulating her on her engagement – days before anyone outside the Windsor clan was meant to have known about it. Yet the world had underestimated the lengths to which “Demure Di” would go in order to hold Charles’s attention. (As Jasper Conran would depressingly recall in The Diana Chronicles: “No matter what you were making for her, the question was always, ‘Will my husband think I am sexy in this?’”)

And so, in what would become a pattern throughout her 15 years in the royal family, Diana set about bursting the English-rose bubble with her fashion choices. For her first public date with her fiancé in the City of London one cool night in March, she asked the Emanuels to make her something suitable, but when she dropped by their studio to collect it, she clocked a dress that Alvin Stardust’s wife, Liza Goddard, had previously worn to a charity event, and asked to try that on instead. “It felt so different to anything she’d worn before,” Elizabeth Emanuel recalls now of the strapless ruffled gown with a plunging heart-shaped bodice. “She looked so grown up, like a movie star, and she loved the idea of breaking the mould.”

In many ways, the dress was all wrong for the evening’s musical recital at Goldsmiths’ Hall. Royals are notoriously meant to avoid black unless in mourning, for starters – and then there was the question of Diana’s “décolletage”, as the press called it. “Lady Diana wore a low-cut gown, well off the shoulder, and there were audible admiring gasps,” reported a positively giddy BBC journalist. (“I was quite big-chested then, and they all got frightfully excited,” Diana deadpanned in her tapes for Andrew Morton.) “Prince Charles, all but forgotten for the moment, seemed amused by the interest in his fiancée’s attire,” The New York Times declared. “After escorting her past a crush of photographers, he called back, ‘Have all the fashion writers finished?’”

The fashion writers were just getting started – and so was Diana. She would later claim to have been affronted by the press’s reaction that night, telling Morton: “I remember my first [royal] engagement so well. So excited. Black dress from the Emanuels and I thought it was OK because girls my age wore this dress. I hadn’t appreciated that I was now seen as a royal lady, although I’d only got a ring on my finger as opposed to two rings… It was a horrendous occasion.” It can’t have been wholly horrendous, though, as within a month, she’d brought the dress back to the Emanuels; she needed it altered to fit her new, slimmer frame, she said – and, yes, she had every intention of wearing it again.

The Diana tapes revealed: Princess says getting married to Charles was ‘ridiculous’, that he ‘wanted a girl’ instead of Prince Harry and how she ‘hated’ her step-mother in bombshell recordings released 26 years after her death

Unheard tapes of Princess Diana claiming getting married to King Charles was ‘ridiculous’, that he ‘wanted a girl’ instead of Price Harry and how she ‘hated’ her step-mother have been revealed in bombshell recordings.

The audio was recorded by Diana in the 1990s for her biographer Andrew Morton, who went on to publish the bestselling book Diana: Her True Story.

Snippets of the clips, which are set to air in an upcoming documentary and have been released just a day after the 26th anniversary of Diana’s death in a car crash, have been released in the US.

Diana claims in the recording that Charles told her mother Frances Shand Kydd at Prince Harry‘s christening in 1984: ‘We’re so disappointed, we thought it would be a girl’.

Frances then ‘snapped his head off’ and told him he should ‘realise you are lucky to have a child’, Diana added.

The release of the clips could be particularly damaging for King Charles because they come just a week before the first anniversary of the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince Harry is seen at his christening with his parents, grandmothers the Queen and Frances Shand Kydd and grandfathers Earl Spencer and Prince Philip. Another clip reveals Diana’s hatred for her stepmother Raine Spencer, who her father John had married in 1976 after her mother Frances had left.

After John’s death in 1992, Raine left the family seat of Althorp due to the strained relationship she had with Charles and Diana. Diana is heard saying: ‘I was so angry. I told her, “I hate you so much. If only you knew how much we all hated you for what you’ve done.

“You’ve ruined the house, you’ve spent Daddy’s money.” I said everything I possibly could and Raine said, “you have no idea how much pain mother put your father through.”

‘I said, “Pain, Raine? That’s one word you don’t even know how to relate to.”

“In my job and in my role, I see people suffer like you’ve never seen. And you call that pain?” I said, “you’ve got a lot to learn.”‘

Diana and her siblings are said to have referred to their stepmother as ‘Acid Raine’ and often sang ‘Raine, Raine, go away!’

The upcoming documentary, which was revealed on Good Morning America, US network ABC’s headline show, is a follow-up to 2017 production Diana: In Her Own Words.

It is expected to air on Disney + early next year. Both Harry and Meghan have previously been interviewed on ABC’s GMA.

Harry promoted his memoir Spare on the network in January, whilst the Duchess of Sussex popped up on GMA to talk up the Disney documentary Elephant, which she narrated.

Meghan’s former close friend Jessica Mulroney was also a fashion contributor on ABC until the network cut ties with her following her row with black influencer Sasha Exeter.

Andrew Morton’s 1992 biography of Princess Diana (left) was written with the royal’s close collaboration. It told the ‘true’ story of Diana’s marriage to the then Prince Charles. Right: Morton in 2018

Tom Jennings, the producer of both the 2017 documentary and the upcoming one, told ABC: ‘When the first film came out, people were blown away because they had not heard Diana talk like this before.’

He added: ‘It’s a style of storytelling that is very difficult to do but I think it is the closest thing to the truth that you can get because nothing gets in your way.

‘It is important as part of Diana’s legacy to allow more of those tapes to be heard.’

The Princess recorded seven hours of audio while she was still married to King Charles, who was then the Prince of Wales.

However, not all of the audio was heard in the 2017 documentary.

Diana says of Charles’s alleged comments about Prince Harry’s birth: ‘My husband won’t even talk to mummy, barely.

Because at Harry’s christening Charles went up to mummy and said: “We’re so disappointed, thought it would be a girl” and mummy snapped his head off and said you should realise how lucky you are to have a child that’s normal.”

‘Ever since that day, the shutters have come down. That’s what he does when he gets somebody answering back at him.’

In another clip, which was previously revealed in the 2017 documentary, Diana speaks of her ‘ridiculous’ wedding to Charles in 1981.

She says: ‘It was so grown up. Here’s Diana, a kindergarten teacher. I mean the whole thing was ridiculous.’

Mr Morton’s book, which was originally published in 1992, told the ‘true’ story of Diana’s marriage to the then Prince Charles, which, contrary to the public image at the time, was in deep trouble.

Diana opened up about her intense unhappiness and feelings of depression that led to her attempts to take her own life.

The revelations – condemned by many as sensationalist – were so damaging for the royals’ public image that many book shops and supermarkets banned it, totally unaware that Diana was the main source behind the work.

The Princess also described cutting herself with a pen knife, throwing herself down the stairs when she was pregnant and throwing up four times a day as bulimia took hold.

The biographer capitalised on his bestselling work by releasing Diana: Her True Story In Her Own Words just months after her death in 1997.

The book featured the transcripts of their conversations, officially outing her as the main source.

This was followed by Diana: In Pursuit of Love in 2004, which detailed her affairs with the likes of soldier James Hewitt, heart surgeon Hasnat Khan and property developer Christopher Walley.

EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: The end of an era. Party peer Peter Palumbo puts his £16m West London pad up for sale

During his glory days, Peter Palumbo owned ten magnificent properties, including Bagnor Manor in Berkshire, where he gave sanctuary to his close friend Princess Diana after she separated from King Charles.

Now, however, times are apparently so hard for the property developer and art collector that, I can reveal, he has put his West London home on the market for £16.5million.

The house, in a quiet corner of Chelsea, has six-bedrooms and six bathrooms. And so keen is he to get some money in that he’s willing to rent it out for £10,000 per week until it’s sold.

‘It’s all quite a shock,’ claims a friend. ‘That’s long been his main home and the centre of his social life.’

Lord Palumbo, 88, who served as chairman of the Arts Council under Margaret Thatcher, was embroiled in a bitter family feud which resulted in his being sued, successfully, by his three children from his first marriage: Annabella, Laura and James, the Ministry of Sound founder now also Lord Palumbo.

The siblings accused Palumbo, who’s currently staying in Scotland, of plundering £30million from the £70million family trust and frittering it away on wine, cars and property.

Accounts published this week for the Walbrook Club, the Palumbo family’s private members’ institution in the City of London, show cumulative losses of almost £8million.

Lord Palumbo’s Lebanese-born second wife, Hayat, 74, scaled down her South Kensington-based needlework business Tapisserie in 2018, closing her 32-year-old store and moving her goods to a smaller premises nearby.

When Princess Diana separated from the then Prince of Wales in 1992, Palumbo allowed her to stay at Bagnor Manor in Berkshire.

Two years later, he was pictured with Diana at the Vanity Fair summer party at the Serpentine Gallery in Hyde Park, London.

The party was on the same night as Charles’s television interview with Jonathan Dimbleby in which he admitted adultery with Camilla Parker Bowles.

The evening gown Diana wore that night, by Christina Stambolian, became known as the ‘revenge dress’.

Palumbo, who is godfather to Princess Beatrice, sold Bagnor Manor in 1996 after it was on the market for £7million.

A source close to Lord Palumbo insists that he has is selling the house for financial reasons, saying: ‘He’s nearly 90 – he needs to downsize.’
