Prince Harry latest court case set to cost whopping £38m as judge to fix 2026 trial date

Prince Harry is among a group of high-profile individuals, including Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish, bringing legal action against the publisher of the Daily Mail.

Prince Harry’s High Court claim against the publisher of the Daily Mail is expected to go to trial in 2026, a High Court judge suggested this morning.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, is one of a group of high-profile individuals, including Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Sir Elton John, his husband David Furnish, actresses Sadie Frost and Liz Hurley, and politician Sir Simon Hughes, bringing legal action against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL).

They have accused the publisher of carrying out or commissioning unlawful activities such as hiring private investigators to place listening devices inside cars, “blagging” private records, burglaries to order, and accessing and recording private phone conversations.

ANL firmly denies the allegations and is defending the legal action, claiming the allegations are “lurid” and “simply preposterous”.

At a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, which was attended by Lady Lawrence, judge Mr Justice Nicklin was told that the costs of the legal claim brought by the group of individuals are budgeted for a total of more than £38million.

In written submissions, David Sherborne, for the group of individuals, said their current cost budget is £18,399,428.84, including incurred costs of £3,890,120.02.

Mr Sherborne added that ANL’s budgeted costs are £19,850,282.40, including incurred costs of £8,125,380.40.

Elsewhere in the hearing, Mr Justice Nicklin said that it was important to progress the case to an eventual trial.

He said: “My broad objective is we fix a trial date … It will probably start on January 14, 2026.”

The judge continued that the date may change and repeated that it was an “objective”.

Harry has accused the publisher of targeting him and the people closest to him by unlawfully hacking voicemails, tapping landlines, obtaining itemized phone bills and the flight information of his then-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy.

ANL had attempted to throw the case out, arguing it had been brought “far too late”.

But in a ruling last November, the judge said the public had failed to deliver a “knockout blow” to the challenges, allowing them to continue.

Harry attended the Royal Courts of Justice in London last March, when a preliminary hearing for the case was held.

His lawyers argued that those bringing legal action were “thrown off the scent” and not aware of being targeted, having believed “categorical denials” from ANL over any involvement in unlawful activity.

Sir Elton, Ms Frost and Lady Lawrence also attended the London court during the preliminary hearing.

The hearing before Mr Justice Nicklin started today and is expected to last two days.

Meanwhile, more than one of Roxy’s followers thought they spotted a resemblance in Hunter’s accent with a certain famed English sportsman.

‘He speaks like a young [David] Beckham,’ one user suggested, referring to the now retired footballer.

‘Bless him, watch out David Beckham,’ added another.

However, some of Roxy’s followers appeared to find Hunter’s accent odd.

‘Stay true to being Aussie!’ one follower advised.

In the video Hunter appears shirtless and is seen rolling the deodorant under his arms.

Describing the brand Neon Goat as ‘great,’ Hunter closed the promo video by telling followers that it has ‘a lemon, lime, and citrus smell.’

It comes after Roxy made it clear on Sunday she was not born for ‘housewifery’, and finds it much ‘easier’ to run six businesses.

The PR guru said she commends stay-at-home mothers ‘because I did it for six months and f**k me that would have to be the hardest job’.

Roxy said she found staying at home ‘f**king boring’, reported The Sunday Telegraph.

‘There’s f**king nothing to do here, nothing. Housewifery is not for me. Like, let’s be real. I have shopped to the point where I can’t shop anymore,’ she said.

‘Yes, Ministry of Talent [her talent agency business] ticks along and I work on that every day—but it’s not enough.

‘I’ve still got too much time in the day, and there’s only so many hours that Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Prada are open.’

Roxy said it’s ‘easier for me to go to work and run six businesses than it is to look after two children’, adding she’d rather ‘run a country’ than help with homework.

Strictly Come Dancing fans are calling for a change in the presenting line-up for It Takes Two after an emotional interview

Strictly Come Dancing enthusiasts are calling for a change in the presenting line-up, suggesting Fleur East should permanently replace one of the main hosts.

The emotional moment came as Fleur was interviewing recently eliminated contestant Jamie Borthwick and his professional dance partner Michelle Tsiakkis about their departure from the show.

The pair found themselves in the bottom two on Sunday night’s dance-off, competing against Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe. Unfortunately for Jamie, the judges decided to save Montell and Johannes, ending Jamie’s Strictly journey just before the quarter-finals.

During their appearance on Strictly It Takes Two with host Fleur East, the pair discussed their exit, leading to an emotional moment. As they watched a recap of their Strictly journey, Michelle was seen crying on Jamie’s shoulder. An emotional Fleur East commented: “As an actor, you really know how to put on a show.”

It really did! ” Reflecting on their time on the show, the pair highlighted their Paso doble performance, with Jamie saying: “As much as I love the rhumba, I have to say that paso, that was good. I loved that.”

“I’ve got a great friend in this one, but everyone who works on the show, and all the people don’t see behind the stage. They’re all absolutely brilliant and I’ve made some really good ones and I’m really pleased about that.”

Devastated fans took to social media to express their sadness at Jamie’s departure, with many touched by Michelle’s emotional reaction. A fan tweeted: “Watching Michelle cry #ItTakesTwo is making me emotional” One added: “Michelle is breaking my heart. What a gorgeous soul.”

One person said: “Fleur is an easier watch than janette marara, get rid of janette and have fleur as the presenter #ItTakesTwo” Another said: “Say it again fleur is much better on this than Janette #ItTakesTwo” while one user added: “Oh foff, can’t we have Fleur all week please? ! #ItTakesTwo”.

ITV I’m A Celebrity feud erupts as Dean McCullough angers co-star after stern warning

BBC Radio One presenter Dean McCullough has kicked off an I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! camp feud after angering co-star Tulisa following her strict warning

Dean McCullough has angered one of his I’m A Celebrity campmates and not due to his trial failures.

The BBC Radio 1 presenter is competing in this year’s series of the hit ITV show and has been put up for the majority of the trials so far. He has met them with varying degrees of success, having even quit by calling out the famous ‘ I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ line.

Dean’s campmates have been struggling on a diet of rice and beans for days due to his lack of stars. On Monday night, the camp lightened up as they celebrated Love Island star Maura Higgins’ birthday. However, one camp member wasn’t best pleased with Dean’s antics after giving him a stern warning

N-Dubz singer Tulisa decided to sleep in, yet Dean had other plans. Dean said: “Now that she’s out of the Leaders’ Lodge, Tulisa has warned me that there must be no musical theatre early in the morning, so I made it my mission to make sure the camp woke up this morning with the sound of lovely singing!”

Viewers have expressed their frustration at Dean constantly being picked to do the trials in the public vote. Some have even proposed a major change to the show. One said: “They need to change how the voting works so say if you do trial 1 you can’t be voted for trial 2 and then they can be voted again on trial 3 so we are not just seeing the same person everyday.”

Another added: “I don’t get it because it’s not even really entertaining? Like seeing someone scream because they have to stick their arm in a barrel of fish guts is boring after 2 trials.” Someone else commented: “I would try a ‘no two trials in a row’ rule for at least one year. You can always revert it if people aren’t keen.”

Host Ant has also begged viewers to stop voting for Dean to give other celebrities a chance to take part in the show. During Sunday night’s spin-off show, Ant said: “Well, right. Let’s all have a serious talk. I’m going to look directly into the camera here. I think it’s good to see other faces down there. This is not a personal thing. It’s not about Dean. It’s about us, just seeing different people down there.

“I think we want to see different people on the show doing [trials]. Some people are, unfortunately, aren’t getting… I’d like to see Barry do a trial. I’d like to see Melvin down there. Or Oti.” Last year’s King of the Jungle, Sam Thompson suggested fans should vote for their own favourites to take part. I’m A Celebrity presenter Declan Donnelly added: “We need to mobilise armies of McFly fans, Corrie fans (to vote).”

Loose Women host Christine Lampard stopped the ITV show moments in to announce breaking news about I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here

Christine Lampard paused Loose Women today to announce “breaking jungle news”.

At the top of today’s show, Christine admitted they had some breaking news to share about I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. Christine was on the show with Janet Street-Porter, Coleen Nolan and Brenda Edwards when she interrupted the top of the show to announce she had some breaking news about their own panellist Jane Moore.

Speaking on today’s show, she said: “We’ve got some breaking jungle news for you at 12.35pm,” before she later revealed that Jane would be competing in tonight’s trial alongside Love Island star Maura Higgins.

    The show was briefly halted

Speaking on the show today, Christine revealed: “Competing in the trial tonight is Maura and Jane everybody. Jane – her first trial,” as Coleen added: “I’ve been desperate for her to do a trial. I’ve used my five votes every night for her. She’s desperate to do one. She’s that way inclined – if she’s going to go that far, she wants to do it.

Every night where they’ve announced it, she looks genuinely disappointed that she doesn’t get picked. But last night in the WhatsApp group, Kaye was saying I hope she doesn’t get it tonight because she hates water and this one is underwater. But I know Jane and I’ve seen a clip of it today, and I’ve seen her swimming under the water. She will give it 100 per cent. She’s so strong.”

Maura and Jane will take part in new trial called Fright at the End of the Tunnel, which will see them navigate through water and creepy crawlies to try and win stars for meals for camp.

In a preview of the trial, Maura faces spiders as she admits: “Jane, I don’t know if I can do it. There’s an awful amount of spiders,” as Ant and Dec explain that she has to go through to the next chamber to allow Jane to do the same. Will she do it?

The U.K.’s award-winning Rock Choir is harmonizing for the 25th anniversary of The Diana Award established in memory of Princess Diana by releasing a special new charity song.

On Oct. 31, Rock Choir will drop the official music video for the song, “Make Your Own Kind of Music — Live at Althorp,” with the tune to debut on Nov. 1. Around 350 members of the contemporary choir convened to record their rendition of “Make Your Own Kind of Music,” originally released by Cass Elliot in 1969, in September at Althorp.

Rock Choir’s rendering is raising money and awareness for The Diana Award during the organization’s 25th anniversary year, a statement said. The Diana Award is the only charity established in memory of Princess Diana, who died following a car accident in Paris in 1997 at age 36. The youth-focused organization is uniquely supported by both of her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, and endeavors to ensure “no young person is left out or left behind.”

While fans will have to wait a little bit longer to hear the song, Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, gave a peek into the recording as it happened at Althorp House.

Althorp is the Spencer family’s ancestral home in Northamptonshire, England, and where Princess Diana grew up. Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer, continues to live there today and the late Princess of Wales is buried at Oval Lake.

“What a treat to welcome 350 members of the Rock Choir to ⁦@AlthorpHouse⁩ today — recording a charity single for the wonderful ⁦@DianaAward⁩,” Charles, 60, wrote on X on Sept. 20 below a video of the members of the choir joining their voices. “The Diana Award was set up 25 years ago to continue my sister’s legacy of care and hope among young people all over the world.”

In another message (with video!) about “Take 8” of the Rock Choir singing, Charles added, “Such a lovely sound. I hope the record does really well for ⁦@DianaAward.”

A snippet shared to Instagram showed the Rock Choir singing at the memorial to Princess Diana on the island where she is buried, and in front of Althorp House. Dr. Tessy Ojo CBE, CEO of the Diana Award, also appeared in the video and spoke about why the partnership means much.

“[Princess Diana] was a woman that made her own type of music. It’s our 25th anniversary, and that’s 25 years of driving change for young people,” Ojo said in the video shared to Instagram. “It’s wonderful to be partnering with Rock Choir, who have brought their flair of music to our work! On Sept. 23, Ojo and Prince Harry appeared on the panel, “The Global Mental Health Crisis Among Young People: A Conversation with Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex and Dr Tessy Ojo CBE, CEO of the Diana Award” at the 2024 Concordia Annual Summit in New York City.

Speaking to PEOPLE there, Ojo said that Princess Diana “went where the pain was,” which her sons Prince William and Prince Harry continue to do today.

“I think what you will see is the passion, the selflessness. In some senses, they say, ‘I’m not going to give up,’ ” Ojo tells PEOPLE. “It’s so easy to pause, to stop and to say ‘This is too big. It’s too messy. I’m not going to get involved.’ And that’s the kind of thing we saw with Princess Diana. She went where the pain was. And usually where the pain is — it’s not always comfortable. It’s not easy. And that’s what you see. You see that same value, that principle of ‘We’re going to go where the pain is, however uncomfortable this is.’ “

Of what it means to have the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex back the charity, Ojo adds, “We are so honored, and what a privilege to have both her sons who support this work. And it is their mother’s legacy. They are both immensely committed to driving change. And we know it’s a privilege to have their support, and we will continue to work to make them proud and to keep their mother’s legacy alive.”

“Make Your Own Kind of Music — Live at Althrop” will premiere on platforms everywhere on Friday, Nov. 1.

Though Princess Diana’s life was tragically cut short, her legacy continues to live on in many ways — one of which being her iconic style.

Part of what made her fashion so memorable was her ability to wear a glamorous ball gown one day and an oversized sweatshirt the next, with both looks being equally captivating. Throughout her time as Princess of Wales, Diana developed relationships with designers like Catherine Walker and Versace, but some of her most casual moments have sparked massive trends, such as the recent resurgence in athleisure. No matter what she wore, Princess Diana embodied a timeless elegance that will continue to have influence for decades to come.

The blue suit that Princess Diana wore for her engagement photos with Prince Charles was chosen in quite the roundabout way. The Royal Style in the Making fashion exhibition, which was presented in 2021 at the royal’s former home of Kensington Palace, revealed that the then-19-year-old had first visited the Bellville Sassoon shop, but wasn’t finding anything she liked. The sales associate, who didn’t recognize her, suggested she try the nearby department store.

”You can imagine how Belinda [Bellville] and David [Sassoon] felt when they realized the future Princess of Wales had been turned away,” curator Matthew Storey told PEOPLE. The Princess and her mother ended up returning to the Bellville Sassoon shop and selecting the blue suit, sparking a years-long collaboration between the brand and Princess Diana.

    Life in the Spotlight

    Tim Graham Photo Library

Just before their wedding, Prince Charles and Princess Diana sat down for a joint interview and spoke about the glare of the royal spotlight.

“If you don’t try to work out in your own mind some kind of method for existing and surviving this kind of thing, you would go mad, I think. In the end, you do get used to it,” Charles says before turning to Diana and asking: “Don’t you find that after the last six months you’re beginning to get used to it?”

    Diana quietly responds, “Just.”

As Princess Diana and Prince Charles leave their wedding ceremony, a commentator says, “Usually fairy tales end here with the phrase ‘and they lived happily ever after.’ ” While footage shows celebrations throughout the U.K., including dancing and popping champagne in the streets, we know now that Princess Diana never got her storybook ending. The couple seemed to know something was amiss at the time too — as they pulled up to Buckingham Palace in their carriage, they were completely silent with no loving interactions or cheerful expressions expected of newlyweds.

During a 1983 tour of Australia, overwhelming crowds gathered everywhere that Princess Diana and Prince Charles visited. But it was clear that they were there to see Diana — as one commentator noted in the documentary, “You can’t give pictures of him away, but Diana is very big news everywhere.” Prince Charles recognized that he was playing second fiddle to his new wife, asking photographers, “Am I in the way?”

“Charles doesn’t like the fact that she’s a superstar, and he isn’t,” another commentator notes.

    Diana’s Loneliness

While Prince Charles “continued to live like a bachelor” despite being a husband and father, Princess Diana was clearly feeling isolated in her royal life. During a 1992 visit to the Taj Mahal, a monument built by a man to pay tribute to his wife, Princess Diana ironically posed for photos alone — and it spoke volumes about the state of the couple’s marriage at the time.

Diana looks uneasy as she’s being photographed on a bench in front of the Taj Mahal, putting on her sunglasses as she stood. She then walked over to another bench and sat with her back towards the photographers in a moment of solitude.

“So she’s just sitting there, is she?” one cameraman is heard asking.

“Thinking about her marriage,” says another.

After Princess Diana and Prince Charles announced their separation, paparazzi climbed on ladders and ran into traffic to capture Diana on everyday outings, such as going to the gym and attending Prince William and Prince Harry’s school events. As Princess Diana tried to escape them, her car is shown speeding away — an ominous foreshadowing of her tragic death just a few years later.

The documentary intercuts Princess Diana’s 1993 speech, in which she announced she would be reducing her public appearances, with shots of her and her sons avoiding paparazzi. Both Prince William and Prince Harry are seen running away from the cameras and shielding their faces with hats.

“When I started my public life 12 years ago, I understood the media might be interested in what I did. I realized then their attention would inevitably focus on both our private and public lives,” Diana said in her speech. “But I was not aware of how overwhelming that attention would become, nor the extent to which it would affect both my public duties and my personal life in a manner that’s been hard to bear.”

However, she was again met with criticism: “It’s very Diana, isn’t it, to call a press conference to announce that she wants to be left alone,” said one commentator. “Very in character.”

Following her divorce, Princess Diana focused on charities and causes with special meaning to her, from homelessness to HIV/AIDS. “Good work and associating one’s self with good voluntary causes, that, I think, is the sort of direction that the Princess of Wales see herself moving in,” one commentator said before adding, in a now-ominous statement: “She has 20, 30, 40 years of active public life ahead of her. So people who think this is the end of something, you’re misunderstanding. This is the beginning of something.”

Home video showed a group of friends playing Uno as the news that Princess Diana was involved in a car crash in Paris unfolded on television. Although the men were making light of the coverage, the mood quickly shifted and they all fell silent when it was announced that Diana had died. The scene reflects how Princess Diana had become a source of entertainment for many, and it wasn’t until her untimely death that there was concern for her as a person.

Prince William and Prince Harry, just 15 and 12 at the time, had just lost their mother. However, in the days following her death, they played the roles of consolers to members of the public. In the documentary, the grieving brothers are seen shaking hands and greeting people gathered outside Kensington Palace.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are also shown viewing the public memorial to Diana outside the palace. In one tense moment, a woman calls out: “Take care of the boys.” Philip then curtly responds: “That’s what we’ve been doing.”

The exchange reflects the public criticism at the time that the Queen hadn’t been doing enough to comfort her subjects in the wake of Diana’s death.
