Fiona Phillips’ husband, Martin Frizell, has shared a deeply emotional glimpse into life with the former GMTV star as her battle with Alzheimer’s continues.

Fiona, 64, was diagnosed with the disease in 2022 at the age of 61, and since then Martin, 66, has stepped back from his career to care for her. The couple’s memoir, Remember When: My Life With Alzheimer’s, recently reached the top of the Sunday Times bestsellers list, giving Fiona a surge of pride and joy.

Martin posted a touching update on Instagram, writing that Fiona wanted to thank “everyone who has shown interest in her story” as it had “really lifted her mood.” Alongside the message, he shared a treasured photograph of Fiona smiling on a TV location shoot, describing it as showing “what a force of life and vitality she had.”

He also revealed that one of their favourite pastimes is looking through old photo albums together while listening to music. “We enjoy Sting’s essential collection now – he’s replaced The Stylistics,” Martin said.

In their book, the couple bravely detail how Fiona’s illness has reshaped their lives. Martin described the daily demands of caregiving, from helping her shower and brush her teeth to washing her hair. He admitted Fiona often resists, as she “doesn’t like being told what to do,” but said it’s necessary to protect her health.

He added that he now helps Fiona get dressed each day, as she sometimes puts clothes on the wrong way round. While he lays outfits out for her in the mornings, Fiona often becomes attached to certain items and wants to wear them repeatedly.

Through all of this, Martin continues to highlight Fiona’s resilience and spirit, while candidly showing the quiet heroism behind caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s.

From the outside,  Ravenseat Farm still looks like the picture of rural resilience — a windswept outpost high in the Yorkshire Dales where laughter, livestock and family life somehow coexist in glorious chaos.

But behind the familiar smiles of Our Yorkshire Farm, Amanda Owen has been living a very different story.

Now, for the first time, the Yorkshire Shepherdess is revealing just how close she came to losing everything — including her life — in the devastating aftermath of her split from husband Clive.

“I Just Shut Down”

Christmas is approaching, and once again Amanda, 51, and Clive, 70, will gather at Ravenseat with their nine children. They no longer share a home, but they still share the land, the work, and the unbreakable responsibility of raising a large family together.

On screen, their new series Our Farm Next Door presents a picture of pragmatic cooperation. Off screen, the journey to this uneasy peace was brutal.

In the darkest months following their 2022 separation, Amanda suffered a severe eating disorder — part of what she now describes as a “cataclysmic collapse.”

“I just shut down,” she says quietly.
“Anxiety, depression, paranoia, agoraphobia — and an eating disorder — all merged into one.”

At her lowest point, the family feared she might not survive.

A Breakdown in Full View of the World

The collapse came after a brief relationship with web designer Rob Davies, which ended when relentless media scrutiny became overwhelming. At the same time, online trolls began targeting Amanda’s appearance as her weight dropped alarmingly.

“I was called a bag of bones,” she says. “I still get trolled now.”

Her teenage daughter Edith quietly deletes the worst of it before Amanda ever sees it.

There were nights Amanda hid alone in sheep pens in the dark — overwhelmed, frightened, and exhausted.

“It’s like having a post-mortem before you’re dead,” she says.

“The Scariest Time”

Clive remembers those months vividly.

“There were nights I genuinely feared I wouldn’t see her the next morning,” he admits.

On one Valentine’s night, Amanda collapsed after vomiting blood. On other occasions, she blacked out while gathering sheep and had to be rescued.

“I always had issues with food,” Amanda explains. “But after nine pregnancies, stress amplifies everything. I lost control.”

Medical intervention, hospital visits, and finally accepting help slowly pulled her back.

“I’m out of the woods now,” she says. “But it nearly took me.”

Life After the Marriage

Today, Amanda lives in a nearby cottage while Clive remains at Ravenseat. The children — aged nine to 24 — move freely between homes. There are no handovers, no rigid schedules, no artificial normality.

“Space saved us,” Amanda admits.
“The tension is gone. Living apart was actually a blessing.”

They still bicker constantly — over toilet rolls, Fairy Liquid, and household chaos — but beneath the banter lies something sturdier.

“We’ll always have each other’s backs,” Clive says.

Strong Women, Strong Children

Their nine children remain the centre of everything.

Reuben runs his own machinery business. Raven is an academic specialist. Edith balances farm life with part-time work. The younger children pitch in with animals, cooking and chores — not out of obligation, but instinct.

“The children witnessed everything,” Amanda says.
“It taught them resilience.”

A Different Kind of Happy Ending

Amanda is not dating. Clive is — and she jokes she even buys his girlfriend’s Christmas presents for him.

But for Amanda, happiness now looks quieter.

“I’ve turned a corner,” she says. “I almost feel better armed having survived it.”

This Christmas, there will be chaos as usual. A turkey bought last-minute at auction. Not enough chairs. Children feeding animals before opening presents. Someone sitting on a milk churn.

And Amanda — still fragile, still healing — but very much alive.

“We’re not perfect,” she smiles.
“But we’re here. And that’s everything.”

Emmerdale actor Michael Parr has hinted that his fan-favourite character, Ross Barton, could soon unleash chaos in the Dales as he becomes entangled in April Windsor’s harrowing storyline.

The long-running plot surrounding April’s manipulation at the hands of Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) and Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) has horrified viewers, and now it seems Ross might be the one to bring them down — in classic Barton style.

Though Ross has only appeared briefly in the current storyline, Michael Parr revealed on Inside Soap’s Soap Scoop podcast that his involvement is set to escalate soon.

“I think that is starting to be released in the scripts soon,” Parr teased. “So I don’t know exactly what’s going on with it, but we’ve always had a connection.”

The actor spoke fondly about his co-star Amelia Flanagan, who has played April since childhood, praising her transformation from a talented four-year-old into one of Emmerdale’s most powerful young performers.

“She’s basically the face of the show now,” he added. “I’m just grateful to be part of her storylines again. She’s an amazing actress and a very thoughtful young woman.”

“I know some people who have it as their surname but it’s also the sort of name that can be shortened. I’d say it’s quite a unique name but it’s not unique as in-,” Joe said, with Dianne interjecting: “Apple or pear.

“It’s kind of like Joe, isn’t it? Cute when you’re little, you can call yourself Joseph when you’re older.”

Joe continued: “Or it could be a good sportsperson name. I’ve purposefully not said it out lout at all whereas Diane keeps calling him by that name.

“I do feel like between now and our due date, which is another thing I don’t think we’re going to share, I worry that we might end up revealing it by accident. From now on, he’s called Derek.”

Answering fans questions, she said: “It was the most nervous I’d ever been. I was so nervous to tell people, I don’t know why. I almost put it off.”

At the Woolpack, she absorbed hushed conversations and fearful glances, gradually tracing them all back to one name: Ray Walters. Her maternal instinct sharpened into resolve. Whatever Rona was hiding, Mary was determined to protect her family—even if it meant putting herself in danger.

Her search for answers led her back to the cottage late that night, where a seemingly mundane discovery changed everything. Hidden beneath Marlon’s van, Mary found a burner phone. Powering it on, she saw an unsent message that confirmed her worst fears: a direct, chilling threat. This wasn’t paranoia. This was real.

But Mary’s courage came at a cost.

As she turned to run back to the house, ready to alert Rona and contact the police, she was stopped cold. Emerging from the shadows were Ray Walters and Celia Daniels together—calm, composed, and utterly terrifying. In that moment, the full weight of Mary’s danger came crashing down on her.

The fearless mother and amateur detective was replaced by a frightened woman confronted with the reality of evil standing inches away.

As the pair closed in, Mary broke down, fear and heartbreak colliding as she realised just how deep the threat ran—and how alone she truly was. The episode faded to black with Mary cornered, the danger no longer theoretical but immediate and deadly.

Sadly, the curtain has come down on Balvinder’s time in the competition. The judges voted unanimously to save Amber, sending Balvinder and her partner Julian Caillon home.

As a result, the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 finalists are Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin, George Clarke and Alexis Warr, and Karen Carney and Carlos Gu.

‘Adored every minute’

Speaking to Tess Daly after her elimination, dance-off queen Balvinder said: “I’ve absolutely adored every single minute. All the dance-offs, all the challenges… But just more than anything, just being in this building and dancing on this floor with such an amazing human being.

“It was my Yes Year, and I said yes to Strictly. My family, we’ve had some hard times, but they’ve been here.”

She then added: “Claudia and Tess, I’m grateful that I got to be on the show on your last moment here as well. Because you, for me, are what Strictly is about. You’re the era of Len Goodman and Bruce Forsyth, and that’s when I started watching it. And that, for me, is really special.

“This year, it’s been full of so many serendipitous moments. I’m so lucky, and I’m really, very happy.”

Fans react to Strictly results

Viewers were pretty mixed over Balvinder’s exit. Some fans of the show said that viewers had got the two stars in the dance-off wrong. They thought George should’ve been in the bottom two dancing against Amber.

“Absolutely the wrong decision. Should have been George and Amber in the dance-off,” said one. “Bal is literally what this competition is all about.”  “I agree. But I knew it would be what happened,” said another sadly.

Although sad that Balvinder has been eliminated, other Strictly fans admitted it was “probably” the right result. It came after Bal survived five dance-offs.

One commented: “That’s probably the correct result. I’ll be voting for the only non dancer in the final: the fabulous George.” “I am gutted for Bal but she should be so proud of her journey,” said another.

“What a journey it’s been for Bal,” said a third. A fourth added: “Sadly her time was up. She should be so proud of herself for all that she’s achieved.”

Australian soap star Rachael Carpani has passed away at age 45 after ‘a long battle with chronic illness’, it has been announced.

The Home and Away actress died ‘unexpectedly but peacefully’, according to a statement from her parents, posted to Instagram by Rachael’s sister, Georgia.

‘It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness,’ it said.

‘The family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements.’

They added that Rachael’s funeral has been arranged, and will be a private event for close family and friends.

In 2024, Claudia joined the cast of Home and Away as the villainous Claudia Salini. She had previously appeared in two episodes in 2001 as Miranda, a server in a diner.

Rachael made her first appearance as Claudia on August 29, in 2024. The star was attracted to the role after learning the character of Claudia was created by script executive Louise Bowes, who worked as a scriptwriter on McLeod’s Daughters.

Claudia was a businesswoman, who got stuck in Summer Bay as a result of being in a car accident.

Claudia blamed Justin Morgan (James Stewart) and Theo Poulos (Matt Evans) for the crash, as the two men serviced the car. The new face claimed that the brakes were faulty, and intended to sue Justin for negligence.

Outside of the soap, Rachael was best known for her role as Jodi Fountain in the series McLeod’s Daughters, which aired in the early 00s.

She featured in the show from 2001-2009, and secured two Logie nominations for her performance. In 2007, Rachael was nominated for the Silver Logie in the category Most Popular Actress and also the biggest award, the Gold Logie.

Some of Jodi’s major stories saw her discover the identity of her biological father, enter witness protection after her death was faked, and being pregnant.

Rachael’s co-star Bridie Carter, who played on-screen half-sister Tess in the series, took to Instagram to pay tribute to her friend.
