The Next James Bond Could Upset Henry Cavill Fanatics “Final Judgment”

Chris Evans picked his MCU co-star as the man for the next 007

The debate for who should play the next James Bond, now that Daniel Craig has moved on, has taken on a new life. MGM is yet to reveal who will be taking up the mantle of 007, with various factions in the industry championing their heirs to the GoldenEye throne. While there have been a lot of fans who would love to see Henry Cavill play the role, Chris Evans has come up with his own choice for who he would like to see as James Bond in the future.

Speaking to WIRED for an auto-complete interview, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas talked about a myriad of subjects, however, while discussing de Armas’ status as a Bond girl, the conversation drifted towards who they would like to see as the next Bond, given that Daniel Craig has decided to step away from the franchise.

When asked by one of the crew about thier choices for Bond, Evans replied with the name of his Avengers: Age of Ultron co-star, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, saying “I am a big Aaron Taylor-Johnson guy”. Taylor-Johnson has been rumored to be in the running to play Bond for quite some time. The actor would be starring in the upcoming Sony film Kraven the Hunter as the titular Spider-Man villain, which would be connected to Sony’s Universe of Spider-Man characters.

Ana de Armas favors Paul Mescal for 007

Ana de Armas, who has starred in the Bond franchise in No Time To Die, also spoke about who she would like to see as James Bond. The actress made it known during the interview that she thinks Paul Mescal would be great as the next Bond. Replying to the same question as Evans did, the actress said: “I think Paul Mescal should be the one,” a sentiment that Evans agreed as being a good choice.

There has been a lot of speculation about who should play James Bond, with the conversation ranging from why it needs to be played by a White actor, to why it needs to be a man at all. However, emerging from these conversations, MGM seems to be sticking to its roots, with the coming months sure to reveal who the next James Bond is, which would no doubt be the domain of a white, male actor, as has been the case with the character so long.
