Ever since Henry Cavill hung up his cape as Superman in the DC universe, fans have been wondering where he would land next in the superhero realm.

From talk of him being Dr. Doom and Cyclops to Captain Britain in the MCU, rumors were flying left and right about the 40-year-old actor. Now, with all eyes on Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine, there is another rumor making the rounds that Cavill might be sneaking into the movie in a totally unexpected role.

Recently, a little birdie close to the production whispered to Giant Freakin’ Robot, revealing that Cavill will play a Wolverine variant in the upcoming blockbuster starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

And just as fans were wrapping their heads around this bombshell, a Hollywood insider on X, formerly Twitter, under the handle CanWeGetSomeToast, popped up to confirm that “Henry Cavill will in fact play a Wolverine variant in DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE“.

It has been reported that Henry Cavill will make his debut in Deadpool & Wolverine, complete with the classic long brown coat. However, this is far from the terms Cavill had expressed to The Hollywood Reporter in order to take a Marvel turn. When pressed about his Marvel dream role, the actor expressed a preference for playing Captain Britain instead of Wolverine.

The latest confirmation left fans feeling a bit torn. While some were thrilled at the prospect of Cavill’s rumored role, others remained skeptical.

Fans show mixed reactions to Henry Cavill allegedly joining the MCU as Wolverine

Henry Cavill certainly possesses all the qualities one seeks in a superhero. However, when it comes to Wolverine, fans have their reservations. Some skeptics argue that he might be too tall for the character. Nonetheless, others were still happy with the fact that at least Cavill is marginally shorter than Hugh Jackman. While fans were excited, some also felt that the British actor could have been given a more prominent role rather than just a variant.

Fans wanted to see what the DC actor would bring to the table for its rival superhero universe.

Some also expressed a desire to see Cavill in a “permanent” role, not just in a cameo.

As of now, neither Marvel nor the actor has officially confirmed the news. So, it is all just speculation at this point. However, the trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine teased a multiversal plotline, creating ample opportunity for fans to speculate about Cavill’s potential role in the franchise.
